No more prompt for pwd to download apps?? keeps downloading new apps withou

I have lost the iTunes Store prompt to put password when upgrading or downloading iPhone apps. I used to get this message all the time asking if I want to bypass this message and download automatically. Well I finally clicked OK on that message and low and behold it automatically downloads NEW apps that cost money without a warning once you click download. Hmm. I might hit that download by accident.
Does anybody know how to get this warning back. I already went to reset all warning but it does not seem to affect app download.
Does this make sense?

Probably something is wrong with your Internet connection or you need to sit down and take the time to configure your fresh out of the box machine a bit...

ok...i'm not sure how at all...but, a couple hours have passed since i posted this and while i was hoping someone would reply i was finishing up some old work on my old, extremely slow emac. anyways, i decided to go ahead and try to install leopard again from the normal standard method. (which is just clicking the icon once the leopard install window comes up). Guess what? now it's 50% into the installation!! i don't want to count my chickens before they hatch...especially after some of the discussions i've read about leopard so far...but, i'm hopeful
who knows how...i'm clueless and it doesn't make much sense to me. but, i'll come back and let anyone who cares know how the install went.
note for anyone with similar problems:
another strange fix to the 'leopard dvd ejecting on install' is to let the dvd chill in the drive for a couple hours...then try it again. HAHAHAHAHA!!!! worked for me

Is there a way for Automatic Downloads to still install new apps, when the install app restriction is turned on?

We have several iPads used by remote reps across the US, What we would like to do is use the built in restrictions for the iPad to not allow them to install apps or buy from the App Store. The problem is that if we have a new app that we are allowing, we would need to either have the iPads shipped to us, or we would need to provide the restriction code for them to install.
I want to be able to have the iTunes account for the company enabled on the iPads, with the Auto-Download New Apps enabled. That way when we purchase a new app on either our inhouse iPad, or via iTunes, it is also downloaded on the other iPads as well. Right now, if the Install Apps restriction is enabled, even the Auto-Install seems to fail or just skip the device. If there a way around this, or is it something that can be fixed in a future version?

Not other than parental oversight. On the computer you can implement Parental Controls on a separate user account that they would use. You can then block certain websites. But you cannot do that on the iPad.
You could change your iTunes account such that they cannot access it in order to buy or download apps.

How to not be prompted for pwd when using sftp command

I want to be able to run an sftp command in a shell script without being prompted for a password, but am not having success.

From Local Computer (follow the prompts at each stage).
1. Login to the localcomputer as required user and generate a pair of authentication keys using keygen
ssh-keygen -t rsa
2. Login to the remotecomputer as required user and create the .ssh directory
ssh -l remoteuser remotecomputer mkdir -p .ssh
3. Copy the Local user public key to Remote User .ssh directory into authorized_keys file. And, type the password again for the last time
cat .ssh/id_rsa.pub | ssh -l remoteuser remotecomputer 'cat >> .ssh/authorized_keys'
4. Connect to the remotecomputer using ssh, sftp or scp . For ssh e.g.
ssh -l remoteuser remotecomputer
This might work, but you need to check it up to correct any mistakes I make with the commands because I am just typing it without testing

I have a 3rd generation iPod and I cannot download or install any new apps. This started a few weeks ago. I have plenty of space, it's very frustrating not to be able to get any apps! Please help?

Please help, I cannot get any apps free or bought, I am able to update just fine and, I can use the apps I already have with no problem. But to be able to install an app. ie, new game recommended by app I already own, is impossible. A few weeks now I have been unable to get any new apps. Why is this occuring and can there be something I can do to fox this without upgrading to 4.0.

Try resetting the device.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Hard Drive Issues?! Can't download updates or install new apps

I have a power mac G5 with Mac OS X 10.5 installed. I am new to macs, but not to PC's in general.
My issue is this: I can download but not install/launch new applications. I've tried updating safari but the .pkg file won't open. I've tried a software update from the apple menu but it says there's a network error 1011 yet i'm online?! I tried a standalone download of a combo update but it stopped halfway through...I CANNOT DO ANYTHING!!!
The machine is working fine, no strange noises, I can work everything on the mac as it should (internet, itunes, calendar etc all fine).
Why can't I update my software and why can't I launch my new applications/programs that I've downloaded?
I downloaded a combo update to a usb from another machine and it started the install procedure but when it came to selecting the destination, my hard drive was not selectable and said 'You cannot install mac os x update combined to this volume. ERROR_INSTALL. Went to partition the hard drive as recommended, but I can't as it's the startup volume...HELP PLEASE!!

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

Cannot upgrade apps or load new apps on my ipad2

This is an recent problem, never had it before. My ipod doesn't have this problem so there's no problem with my connecting. When i connect my ipad to my pc and itunes then there is no problem either. But i find it annoying to have to use my pc every time that there is an update or if i want to buy a new app. Who can help me? I use ios 5.1

I thought that might be the issue but I wasn't certain. For whatever reason, this seems to be occurring more frequently that it used to.
Two thoughts ... if you have a stalled download in iTunes - maybe a song or a podcast that did not finish downloading, complete that download or delete the download - and then try the apps again. Only one thing can download at a time and anything that might have stuck in iTunes could be causing the problem.
the other thing that I will suggest is sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again. Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap your ID and sign out.
Restsrt the iPad ..... Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in - sign in and try again.

I get it with my original ID, I never changed my ID. And when I'm getting new apps, it's normal, the problem appear when I'm going to update the apps that I already have. The other e-mail that appears is another e-mail of mine, but I don't have any ID in apple with this e-mail.

Assuming that you've got the relevant iOS version on the iPad, then you can change it from a 15 minute period during which it doesn't need to be re-entered to immediately via Settings > General > Restrictions > Require Password

The iCloud storage is meant for your backup, you do not get more space on iPhone.
You can by connecting to computer iTunes for update then you will not have space problem

Drill-Trough from Disco OLAP to relational without beeing prompted for pwd?

we are developing a showcase for Discoverer for OLAP on a laptop. We also would like to drill-throug from an OLAP-Report to a relational plus (or viewer) worksheet. We do this like Marc Rittman in his article: http://www.rittman.net/archives/001252.html
So when we do the drill-through, we get to the login-page and have to provide our password. Can somebody imagine a way to get directly to the worksheet without the login-page beeing shown?
For it is only a showcase, it should rather be fast then secure.

You must have not chosen the Use Connection ID radio button when you created the link using the Specify Worksheet dialog box. When you did this you were asked for the username, database and EUL to connect to but you were not asked for the password. Thus, when you execute the drill you are prompted to supply it.
However, if you were using Discoverer connected to an Infrastructure and have created public connections you can use the id of a public connection and enter it into the Use Connection ID box. This time, because the passwords of public connections are not known to the end users, the link should execute.
I know this is not what you wanted to hear but it's the way Discoverer interface between OLAP and Relational works I'm afraid.

TS1368 My iPad will not download app updates or new apps, however all other Internet connections do work, I can connect and browse apps just not download

I can browse the iTunes store, get on the Internet ,etc, but it will not download apps or updates for my apps. I get a message that it cannot connect to the store

Try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your Apple ID in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it works.
If that doesn't solve the problem, go to Settings > General > Date & Time and change the date to a few months in the future and then re-try.

Problems downloading and keeping downloads

I have had tons of problems with my iPod and I tend to assume that somehow I am at fault, but it's so extremely user unfriendly that maybe it's not just me. I download from iTunes, and the stuff appears on my iPod and then it disappears at some later time. Or sometimes it simply doesn't appear. I download directly using WiFi to the iPod. Same story. I have no idea what I will find on the iPod when I try to listen. Sometimes old stuff I already deleted comes back. That is especially annoying when I have mistakenly downloaded highly offensive material. I would say the technical term for my problem is gremlin infestation. Does anybody know an exorcist for iPods? Seriously, what's going on? Operator errors of some sort?

Mucked up installation. If the installer app is still in /Applications, delete it and start over.

Currently Updated Apps Showing as New App Available...?

5 apps just showed as having updates available, so I updated them. Even though all 5 updated, 2 of the apps still show as having updates available. Both have updated to the current version, but things don't seem to be recognized correctly. I tried deleting the apps completely and re-downloading them as new. After being installed, they again showed as having updates available, which they don't. Anyone run into this?!

It's an issue with Apple's app update servers, occurs occasionally, usually resolved itself in a few hours or a day, and nothing you can do except be patient and ignore the update/badge.
