PHP required reference killing page?
I built a new PHP page that is supposed to do a User
Validation, but this
required PHP chunk is causing the page to "not load".. which
is to say the
browser just sits there blank..
Thoughts on why? Here's the chunk causing the problem..

... all files are there and file names are case-sensitive

How to see Design View when using ?php require("header.htm"); ?
Hello
I'm new to DW CS4 and have what's probably a simple question, but I can't figure it out. I have a basic html website in which I'm using php require to call header.htm and footer.htm files. In CS4, when I open any page in the Design or Split view, it displays the header.htm file. The only way I have been able to view the content of the page is to delete the php require code in Code View. I then edit the page after which I have to paste the require code for the header.htm file back in before saving.
Is there an easy fix for this?

Privilege require to kill a report server Job
Hi all.
I'm using Forms / Reports 11g Rel2 on a Windows box.
What privileges are required to kill a report submitted to a report server (non secure).
Precisely: if you're on the showjobs page, can anyone who access this page kill a job?
Also, is it possible to use CANCEL_REPORT_OBJECT (within Forms) for a running job?. Again, which privileges are required?.

You have two options actually - forgot to mention the other alternative.
1.) Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) - this will block any attempt to showjobs based on IP Address/Domain Name/etc....
That means however, you'll have to firewall off port 9002. But most my customers do this anyway - as reports are commonly accessed via OHS.
In $ORACLE_INSTANCE/config/OHS/ohs1/moduleconf/reports_ohs.conf, add the bolded text to your conf file. You can do a individual or ranges of IP addresses/hostnames/fully qualified domains. Consult Google or Oracle HTTP Server documentation on deny/allow rule syntax.

2.) WLS_REPORTS solution. This lets you password protect the showjobs screen.
- Locate and backup your reports server's rwserver.conf - i'd make sure its the right one. As a lot of people can get confused as by default Reports comes with 2 reports servers.
- Open rwserver.conf
- Add the following parameter in between the "<queue maxQueueSize ..." tag and "<pluginParam name="mailServer" value="%MAILSERVER_NAME%"/>" tag:
*<identifier encrypted="no">username/password</identifier>*
- replace username/password for your actual username/password combo you want to use. Save your changes.
- Reboot the reports server process - if you use a reports server that runs in OPMN, make sure you reboot your OPMN Reports server process as well.
- when you try to access show jobs, it should return an access deined. To access showjobs. add "?authid=username/password" to the end of your URL to access the page.

Cross-reference auto-page numers?
Can anyone tell me why i cannot get cross-references to work with automatic page numbering? Is there some fundamental error i am making? I have the master files setup with auto-page numbering based on 'current page.' All of my pages are numbered sequentially as 1, 2, 3, etc. and setup with a unique paragraph style. however, when i try to reference a page number in the document, none of the pages show up under the paragraph style in the cross-reference menu. I have even tried to use ctrl+shft+click on the desired reference page to bring the page number frame from the master file onto that specific page, but the text still does not show up in the cross-references menu. I feel as though i must be making some sort of mistake because it seems this could be one of the more obvious/widespread uses for the cross-reference feature. Any help would be great. Perhaps there is simply another way to do this? Thanks!

Because each figure/illustration will have it's own page, it is desired to make the figure number and page number match to achieve an easier means of navigating the book. Basically, I want the text section, which will be read first, to reference figure numbers and/or page numbers (at this point, i have the option of choosing one or the other), but both of these numbers are going to dynamically update.
So, if that made any sense at all (ha), is there a way to use the cross references to point at a number that is set to automatically/dynamically change? If there is not, then perhaps I will simply have to create static figure numbers for the referenced content and then just let the page numbers change over time. If you have any other suggestions, I am definitely open to exploring them!

If I understand your description correctly, it seems that you're asking for an unusual numbering/navigation approach. Is there an example that you've seen that works this way, and that you want to emulate? Is this a publishing style/convention in the particular industry?
Am I correct in imagining that in a document that contains three figures on discontiguous pages, they might be numbered something like this:

This would result in no figures 2, 3...14...249. Would your document have references to figure 15 on page 15? Would you want your list of figures (LOF) to resemble:
Figure number and title Page

(sorry about the messy table layout - the HTML is tricky)
Would your audience be concerned that the figure numbers are not consecutive across a multi-chapter book, or consecutive within a chapter, and restart in each chapter? That is, would a reader think that some figures are missing?
Is there a specific objection to figure 11 on page 26 becoming figure 11 on page 28, if text content were inserted, or becoming figure 16 on page 29 if figures were inserted? When numbered-list paragraph styles and cross-reference formats are set up properly, cross-references to these figures would update to indicate both the correct number and correct page.
Have I misunderstood something?

I forgot to ask if your document will be using cross-references interactively in a PDF or other multimedia format. If so, can you give more detail on your expectations?
Have you looked into InDesign hyperlinks? They can refer to a page number - either "sticking" to the designated page no matter if its page number changes because of reflow or being moved, or "sticking" to whatever happens to become the "n-th" page if the original page is relocated. If you still have a working copy of Pages ’08, then save the Pages documents out as .doc Word files and open those in Pages v5.5.2. If you do not have a machine to run Pages '08 on, but still have the iWork '08 DVD, you can install that on Yosemite, and then update Pages '08 to version 3.0.3. Then export the Pages documents to Word. Or you can simply avoid using Pages v5.5.2 altogether, as it has a fraction of the capability found in Pages '08.

How to create cross references in pages?

I need to create cross references in pages, for example create a title with the name of a chart and the create a reference on the document. If I create more content and the number of the chart changes the references need to be up to date. This is supported by word... don't know on pages.

Calendar page unresponsive, kill pages or wait?
After a few minutes of accessing my iCloud calendar I get an error that says "page unresponsive" kill pages or wait? This just started happening 3 days ago
It's happening on FIrefox too. It's not a browser issue! I have tried all, Chrome, FIrefox and IE and it freezes after about 5 minutes sometimes sooner, sometimes you get a little longer, but not much.

Locking cell references in Pages 2 tables... "$" works...
One thing I haven't found any documentation on (I'll admit, it might be there, I just haven't yet found it) is that you can lock cell references in Pages 2 using "$", so that when you auto fill a column or row, it won't automatically change a particular cells reference if it is marked accordingly. if cell C1 is "=$A$1+B1" and is autofilled down column C, the calculation will be
C1=$A$1+B1,
C2=$A$1+B2,
C3=$A$1+B3
etc.... A1 is locked, while the B cell references change as expected.
As I said, maybe it's there and I'm just looking in the wrong spot.

No Boolean searches for Endnote references in Pages?

I use Endnote heavily in technical papers and grants and have tried the new Pages 09 with Endnote X2. I really like Pages since it handles integrated text and graphics so well whereas Word really does not do that well. However,the Endnote search function in Pages appears to be quite limited, as far as i can tell, to a single word or phrase. It does not appear possible to search, for instance, for an author and a word in the title to narrow the search results. So if I want to search my Endnote database of references for all papers with "Smith" as author and that also contain "cholesterol" in the title I can't do it. Am I correct in assuming that this can't be done with the Pages search engine? Also, there does not appear to be a way to insert references from Endnote directly, so I can't do the search in Endnote and insert the reference into Pages. I would love to be wrong. Thanks in advance for any help!You are correct that there doesn't seem to be a Boolean search function from within Pages.
In Endnote X2 itself, if you use the quick search function you can search author & title or author & title & keyword etcetera. For example, I put in Shakespeare as author and Hamlet as title and came up with two references in my library. I then generated a subject bibliography and inserted that into the Pages document. It is also possible to save references into Groups. There is quite a lot on managing Groups and sub-groups in the Endnote help menu.

MarkBregent and Ned have offered the correct answer. Your webhosting server will not know if it has to run any php code unless the page has the .php extension.
Here's a potential problem: If you are monkeying around with php, you'll need a testing server to upload your work to test. Dreamweaver won't allow you to test your work on your own computer, unless you set up Apache and create a testing server on it.
One of the things I have done recently was to create a testing server on my own home network using an older computer. Works great, but you may not have an older computer handy. So here's what I did with my webhost:
Generally your website has to be built so that its home page and its root is in /public_html/ on your server. You can "trick" Dreamweaver to think it's actually underneath that by creating a folder called /test that is underneath /public_html/ and nobody will be able to access your work as you work on it (unless you point a client to a specific page and specify the exact URL with the extra path for them to test). The advantage with this is that your testing server is set up to run php code with exactly the same php configuration as the server that will wind up serving your web page because it is your hosting server.
So, while you are testing, create a /test folder. And any page that is supposed to be processed by your php server needs to end in the .php extension.
Here's another trick:
Regular HTML can end in .php as well. So can rename your entire website with .php if you have a number of pages that use it.
You can also make your entire website .html, save just the pages that use php (this is what I do). So if I have a form that is going to do something that results in php, I'll make the form entrance html and the page that actually does the processing php. -

How To-set DFF to null and Not required in OAF page ??
enabled service dff, added 2 segments. i want them displayed in service request oaf pages.

in context field region : unchecked required and displayed
In global data elements - added 2 segments based on value set(validation type = independent, list type = poplist)
displayed and enabled checkbox are checked for both the segments.
I want to be able to do two things
1.in HTML service request agentdashboard- the 2 new dffs are displayed correctly as drop down lists. I can pick and save a value to those mapped columns.
but the two drop downs are REQUIRED. I do not want them to be. how can I make them un-required.
--while personalizing this flexfield elemnt from oaf page - I did not have the attribute-required to be unset.
2. I want a default blank value in both the drop down list.
I tried to add a nullvalue in valueset ,but its not letting me. can i do that ??

Implementing multiple page size requirement - extra blank page at the end
My XMLP report requirement is as follows.
- The report is printing a bunch of lines.
- Based on data and layout requirement, lines are grouped into page where they belong (due to complex logic for determining which page a line should go to...this is done in PL/SQL package that is called in the beginning of the RDF trigger)
- The first page needs to be printed on Legal size paper
- Subsequent pages (IF NEEDED) need to be printed on Letter size paper
So some report will have a 1-page output (legal size), and some will have multiple pages (1st page should be legal size, subsequent on letter size).
Here is a sample XML data:

It almost worked, except there is a blank page printed at the end. How do I remove the blank page? I have tried to use <?split-by-page-break:?> instead of the Ctrl-Break, but it did not seem to work (there is no page break happening at all).
I think the extra page is due to the multiple page nature of the RTF template. Is there a way to control the page size through XMLP tag (or XSL-FO). With that, I can try having a single page template and put the page size control within the XMLP / XSL-FO tag and hope that the extra blank page at the end will go away. Can someone please help?

Use PHP to convert html page to a pdf file for email
I want to use my php scripts to send an email (with a pdf attachment) of the web page that is being viewed.
My problem I have no way to convert the html page to a pdf file without the end user being prompted to (1) naming the file (2) saving it
Is there a program or a way i can save the html as "auto_name.pdf" file on the server without user input?

I'd suggest to take a look at PD4ML Html to Pdf converter - it has lots of features (CSS support, page layout presets, etc.) and can be obtained for free for non commercial usage. There is also a topic at Stackoverflow with a list of such converters.

This is one of those "In Word I could do ____, how do I do it in Pages?" questions.
Word has a cross-reference feature where, for example, you could insert a statement such as: "See footnote __, above." The blank line would actually be text field that was linked to a previous footnote, and if the previous footnote changed number, the cross-reference would automatically change number as well.
