Protect a portion of the text in a PDF from scrapers

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me. I have access to Adobe CC - I have been learning InDesign and Acrobat and Photoshop.
Does anyone know if there is a way to protect only a portion of a PDF - just a selection of text - from scrapers? I want to post a PDF I created online, but I don't want the phone number and email address in it to be scraped by telemarketers etc...
In other words, do you know if there's a way to either:
1) In a PDF, turn text into an image so it can't be copied like text - i.e. so if I post it online the phone number and email address can't be indexed by google or scraped by a telemarketer? or
2) In a PDF, put some kind of copy protection on just the phone number and email address, so just that portion of the PDF can't be indexed or scraped?

Several years ago Google began to OCR images it found in PDFs so that any text they may contain could be searched and indexed, so I don't think using images is a guaranteed way to prevent this. You can try setting security so that content extraction is not allowed, but there's no guarantee that this restriction will be honored by non-Adobe software that attempts the extraction.
You could add buttons/links that when clicked will reveal the information you want to hide, either as pop-ups or previously hidden/blank form fields, or use JavaScript to show the information automatically when a document is opened. This would prevent most attempts at automated methods of data extraction, but adds a bit of complication in preparing the document for use.

check or uncheck the correct phones numbers and/or email addresses

I have placed a PDF in inDesign and am curious if I can edit the text of that PDF while in inDesign.

In Acrobat you should use the TouchUp Text Tool.
But in the end, PDF-files are not made for editing.

I was testing the preciseness & efficiency of Adobe acrobat x professional's doc conversion capabilities. As i have to take a document editing project in future which is going to need lot of pdf to word and vice versa conversions . What I did was I created a test word document converted into a pdf using a pdf maker in my word 2007 , Acrobat did convert the document from word to pdf keeping everything in the source file intact , However when i tried the other way round and attempted to convert the same pdf to word 2007 file format I lost my formatting ?So the font that I used to create the pdf are the ones taken from word 2007 which i believe is using the fonts that are installed in my computer. Any suggestions on how to preserve the formatting of the document after converting it from pdf to word file format?

How can I cancel the text-link in pdf

I want to knwon how can I cancel the text-link in pdf forever.
In a pdf , If there is a text like "http://www.adobe.com" ,even it's not a hyperlink,and there is not any action on the text,but it can be clicked.
I have read the "Document management — Portable document format — Part 1:PDF 1.7", I find nothing about this text-link, Is this a function of adobe reader ,or is it required by the PDF format.
I konw adobe reader could turn off the function of text url Identification, then it can not to be clicked ,but what I want to do is cancel the text-link in pdf ,so that whatever is the "text url identification " turned off or turned on , the text can never be clicked.

No. It is a feature of Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat.

Look everyone that comes here with a support problems has gone through all the normal channels, around and round in circles with no one seeming to be interested. They've called every phone number, every email address they can find. They have been put on hold and bounced fifty times to another operator only to be hung up on. If Adobe would bring back support to main land and have people that know what's going on instead of having people that people can barely understand read from scripts. Scripted information only applies about 10 % of the time. I'm just giving people an alternative. after they have torn their hair out going the normal route. If they had been able to get a solution they wouldn't be coming here for help.
There should be a forum set up just for people to air these issues and Adobe employees forced to man it. Then we wouldn't have to have such a Bad attitude. Right now Adobe's Support reputation is worse than Intuit's which did have the absolutely worse on the Planet. Now they are number 2.
You know it yourself that Adobe's support is absolutely worse than terible. However to prevent me from being banned from the forums I will simply will provide the adobecare email address from now on

I recently updated to the latest Mac OS, and in the process I seem to have lost the capacity to create PDFs from my HP scanner.
With each prior OS, I could scan and immediately save any scanned file in PDF format. Now it is not allowed, and creates a file
that has nothing but noise, even though the scan software seems to show that each scan is captured correctly (in the scan window,
before I ask it to save the file). When trying to save to PDF, I get a message that tells me that this is a read-only file, which I don't
quite understand, since the same scanning / saving process always created a PDF in the past.

Thanks very much for the response. I checked for new HP software, and learned there is no new version. I also noted when reading about the new OS 10.9 that all driver software is now part of the MAC OS and no longer supplied by the vendor of the printer / scanner. I suspected this is where the trouble is located.....but I did not know how to ascertain what could be done to restore my PDF creation capabilities. How can i hide a portion of the text inside a spry dataset "stackedcolumn"?

I have a spry dataset set up reading a .xml file for the price/name/description/etc. I want to only show some of the text (a certain number of characters) at the start then give the visitor the option of clicking a toggle button to see more of the description and help with size of the pages. How do i do that exactly?
I know I have to probably implement jquery toggle but how does it work with a spry?

There are many options for editing objects/layers in the time line. You can split tracks, slip videp, trim, delete, cut, copy and paste etc. Without more specifics about what you want to do I would suggest you review the users guide. Select help to open the manual and then go to Timeline>Edit objects in the timeline. I am sure you will find the answer to your question.

I'm calling this method ScrollNews every X minutes with a timer.
The way it is now it will AppendText all the time. But i want it to Add the combinededString only if the text in combindedString was different from the text that is already in the richTextBox. Somhow to keep all the time the last text and compare it and
if there is a new text then appen it.

I have a large PDF, over 1000 pages. Some of the text is highlighted which makes it difficult to see on my preferred document background. In Acrobat XI how do I change the color of all the text in the document back to black please? Although solutions using any other software will be much appreciated too.
I searched this forum already, and the same question was asked back in 2007 when it appears the only solution was to use an expensive third party plugin.

I know of no new solutions since 2007 except the ones you found.
You could use the Accessibility Preferences > Change Document Colors to choose a text color. However, this is an individual preference and cannot be set as a default for others opening the document.

Text size with the Text Touchup Tool. Line spacing is a NO. What you want to do does not fall into the category of what PDFs are created to do. If you are just doing it for screen reading, use the zoom.

How do I edit the text in a PDF

I have a PDF document written by someone else. Using Adobe Pro X, how do I erase the text and replace it with new text?. I don't want to edit anything but the text (leaving all photos and graphs intact). Basically, the document is written in German and I wanto do through the document and replace all German text with the English translations. I am new to Adobe and I just can't figure this out. As PDF is not a "word processing" format heavy editing such as you describe has a high probability of damaging the PDF.
While the TouchUp Text tool supports minor "touch ups" it is not designed to support word processor like content editing.
Regarding removal of PDF page content. You can use the Redaction tool for that.
Read the Help topics on this so as to use the tool properly (if you want full removal of the selected content).
You might consider use of the Text Edit feature - this supports cross-out of selected text and has an associated pop-up into which you could enter the English.
Regardless, consider making "work" copies of the original PDF as, again, more than minor "touch up" can (and often does) result in making a PDF unusable.
