Public request to Apple about the WiFi mess

As a faithful Apple user I am deeply disappointed by the lack of response by Apple about the wifi problems many users (including myself) are experiencing. What makes the whole issue worse is the lack of a public statement by the company over this mess: calling the support doesn't take us anywhere as we are treated like idiots who can't use the device - "Are you sure your router is working properly?" - "Try with another wifi" - ""Have you tried to reinstall the Os"....
It's time Apple publicly acknowledges the problem and offer some sort of solution as more and more users (including myself) are swiftly thinking about switching to a more reliable company. It's very sad to witness the downfall of a good company like Apple who is basically refusing to acknowledge this problem. Leaving things in the dark won't help the reputation of the company, quite the opposite!
If it is not a hardware issue, as it maya well be, let us downgrade to a previous version of the iOS and check if it works.
I am on the verge of loosing my patience and frustration is building up too quickly. I have strong doubts I will be buying Apple's products in the future.

WiFi problems have been around as long as there have been WiFi devices on all hardware. Go to support sites for any mobile device and you will see WiFi issues so buying other products may not solve your issue.
It may indeed be a hardware issue that became evident on your iPhone during the upgrade. Have you had your iPhone checked?
Apple rarely announces what they are doing with issues like this. With WiFi they might as well issue a blanket statement that they are constantly working on it (and they are). Go here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html and enter detailed information about your issues and have your phone checked out.

how to send the unlock request to Apple on the owner's behalf.

You can't send an unlock request to Apple yourself. It can only be done through the network to which the phone is locked.
Only the network can authorise the unlock.

  • How to complain to Apple about the person who repaired my MBA?

    Hi,
About one month ago my MBA burnt and when I took it to Apple store the told me the SDD and logic bord has problem. The supposed to repair it in 7-10 days but it took 20 days! Anyways, when I took it home, I realised that its speakers does not work. So as I went again to Apple the said to forgot to connect the speaker's cables. They fixed it. Now after a few days I noticed there is a noise from one side of my laptop, near the headphone port. It is really low and I prefer to see how it goes. The problem is the fan. I guess the didn't install it properly or something. Now my MBA is really really hot. As hot as I can't touch some parts of it. So I booked an appointment in Apple store again. But I know they will fix the fan and thats it. But clearly this extra hot damaged CPU and other parts that would later. But they not gonna fix it now as they are all running and seem working.
So all these problems are because the person who repaired it did not install parts properly. Otherwise why would all these happen after repairing my MAB ??
I just wanna know what can I do in this situation? and how to complain?

    Hello Danial.S,
You need to contact Apple customer care, and make sure you get the customer care 'case number' related to your complaint. Make sure you have all the information related to your machine such as the serial number and so on. If you have had other 'case numbers' related to this machine's serial number, you will want to make a note of those also.
You should first make an attempt to have the situation resolved at the Apple store where you bought the machine. You will want to speak to a manager or supervisor; remain calm and civil while you explain your situation, and what action(s) you feel would rectify the situation. If the manager/supervisor at the Apple store is unable/unwilling to rectify the situation, it will be time to seek "executive customer relations" assistance.
When an Apple customer has a persistent problem, which can be proven by the 'case number' from customer service, and the customer contacts an Apple executive (by email) an "executive customer relations" employee will contact you, usually within a few business days, to see if there is a way to rectify the situation.
You can google apple executive contact information. The customer care line might be able to give you the information.
Remember to always be polite and civil in your discussions/correspondence with Apple staff.
    All the best.

  • An Appeal to Apple about the new iWork release

I start with a quote from Jason D. O'Grady at ZDNet written in the beginning of this year:
"Apple is missing a prime opportunity here and basically ceding the market to Microsoft. Its users have a natural aversion to Microsoft products -- at least on the OS level -- and it's baffling that Apple isn't capitalizing on it with regular updates to iWork. Apple could simply add a couple of features, tighten up the UI and release iWork '10, iWork '11 every year (like almost every other software developer does). I know that I'd probably upgrade.
Instead Apple proceeds with its release and abandon strategy."
Why did Apple released this new iWork-version to us serious users? I love my iWork '09 and its truly intelligent and useful interface which has speeded up my workflow tremendously compared with using MS Office.
All users of a program expect that the next version will at least be as good and useful as the previous one, that features have been improved, useful stuff added, improvements leading to an even better and efficient workflow have been added etc. etc.
iWork could have been an important piece in increasing the market share on Macs worldwide and a fantastic alternative to MS Office that most of us are so tired of because of its lack of intuitiveness, poor-working word-formatting and layout-functions etc. etc.
I have been using iWork professionally for years now. The new version is not an alternative for me. It would ruin my iWork-work for years including my business as a technical writer.
    I appeal to Apple:
Call the new iWork version for ’iWork Lite’ or ’iWork for beginners’.
Announce an iWork Pro-version as soon as possible and give an estimation of release date.
Let iWork ’09 be the minimum baseline for the version.
    Assure a good backwards compatibility.
Do not change the basic interface compared with iWork ’09 with for example its customizable toolbar and floating inspector.
Give it a competitive price (compared with MS Office).
Give it great cloud functionality (greater and better than MS Office)
We all need better programs that Microsoft offers us.
You guys at Apple have been on track to make it. I appeal: Switch over to this track again! Today!
    Regards,
    Kim
    A serious user of Apple-products

    Felix Leiter wrote:
I disagree. The floating inspector was very useful as you could keep it away from the writing area, pull it off competely when not needed and call it back on request. At least, this should stay as an option rather than that invasive new sidebar.
I agree. Having the movable Inspectors was one of the best features of iWork. The way it was implemented with the descending order of tabs should have been widely adopted. Not trashed.
I keep my Inspectors and other palettes on a second monitor to allow a full view of my work on the first.
Having an independent Inspector, one not tied to context, allows the User to look for information and options without losing what you are doing at the moment.
Contextual linking suffers from a major problem. You must know the exact selection/combination of actions to make the controls appear. In other words you must know the correctly worded question to get the answer.
Don't get the wording of the question exactly the way the programmers want it and you will never find the answer.
There are examples of that in Pages 4.3, other Apple software and many areas of OSX in recent times.
It is very bad User Interface Design to conceal the access to solutions.
Effectively you turn the software into an Easter Egg hunt. Something that seems to amuse the personalities who program, but not those who are using software to an end and not just playing games.

  • Request to Apple for the next MacBook

    Hello Apple,
In the summer of 2015 I will be required to refresh my laptop. I currently have a 2012 15" Macbook Retina.  It's been a great machine and is my first Mac.  Unfortunately, I will be required to purchase a machine with 32GB of RAM.  The reason for this is server virtualization.  I need to run multiple servers in a virtual environment.
Here's my request: Please provide a Macbook Pro Retina in 2015 with 32GB RAM so I don't have to switch to a Lenovo Windows machine.
    Thanks

  • I spoke with Apple about the battery and they said...

it might be a software issue to where something is not installed properly in the backend in which im hoping. I talked to them for a good 20mins in regards to what alot of us are experiencing about the battery life not being what its supposed to. he said they've gotten a good amount of calls this week about the iPhone not holding its battery charge throughout the day. I asked what can i do on my end to try to fix this problem. he said to backup and restore your iPhone like you just bought it to reinstall the software.
plug in to iTunes -- backup iPhone -- restore -- when "set up or backup" screen comes on, unplug. keep notice of the battery to see how its going. if its still dropping noticably then its a battery problem, if not then it should be working as normal. i might have to drive 2hrs to get a new iPhone if this doesnt help but hopefully this will help some?

    Some clearly have faulty batteries.
hopefully Apple puts out a new update quick.

  • Apple Ireland public relations rule Apple all the way

Hey i recently had been having a lot of trouble lately trying to get my hinges fixed on my Macbook. I was told by the company doing the repairs that they were not covered under warranty. I know i did not do anything out of the ordinary to damage the hinges and so why should i be the one to pay 160 pounds for two hours labour not including the part. So i emailed a address i found on this site who then got in touch with a women called Margaret thats all i am saying lol. I was in contact with Margaret from Apple in Cork and she could see things from my point of view. She then told me not to worry and contacted the repair place who now have fixed my hinges and my Mac is waiting on me. I just wanna say thanks Apple for sticking by your product and Margaret you deserve a pay rise lol. Apple all the way.

  • So what is Apple and I-Tunes doing about the Shuffle mess??

    Some communication would be nice!!
From all of the posts in the last few days, it seems to be apparent that Apple and/or I-Tunes is having a real mess!! Last week my computer(an old Compac Presario) did not even recognize my shuffle. I tried it a few times every day. Magically on Sunday, my computer not only recognized it, but sent an update, which worked fine.
Monday, working-out in the pool, it died. (I should add here that my shuffle has been waterproffed by 'SWIMMAN' and I have a waterproof headset and the whole thing has been fine for the last 15 months!).
Later on Monday, I attached it to my computer to be charged and the computer kept saying that it needed to be plugged into a high-speed port. So I turned on my new laptop, downloaded I-Tunes and plugged in the shuffle. I-Tunes came back and said the shuffle could only be associated with one computer and was going to erase my shuffle and resync it, OK? I said no! I then got information on how to copy my 4GB of files without making 6 backup discs and proceeded to copy all the files to the new computer.
After that was finished, I plugged in the shuffle and got absolutly no response from I-Tunes, my computer did not even recognize the shuffle as a drive! So many times yesterday and this morning I tried it again and again and no response!
As I started writing this post, on the old computer, I thought "Let me try once more". Well what do you think?? The new computer recognized the shuffle as 'SMIMMAN iPod', only a few recently added tracks were missing, and it seems to be working. So I'm giving it plenty of time to charge.
Right now it might be working fine, but what is being done to prevent this from continuing? There was one post about reseting the utility program. How can you do that when the shuffle is not being recognized by the computer?
Another pet pieve... I-Tunes has the 'settings' tab with information it reads from the shuffle. Why can't it read and report the level battery charge? My lights don't blink when the charge is low (the waterproofing may have something to do with that). Your laptop tells you when you battery is low, why not I-Tunes??
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Linda

My shuffle came from SWIMMAN who has worked with Apple to make the shuffle waterproof. Everything had been working just fine both in and out of the water until Monday, March 10 when I was sent an update from I-Tunes. All of the problems have been since then. Sometimes my computer recognizes it, right now it's not.
This morning it worked fine for an hour, now it's dead and not being recognized.
From reading the posts here since this past Monday, it looks to me as if there is a problem with Apple and I-Tunes.
Also from looking at the posts, there are many others with the same problem and none of them have been answered successfully!

  • Why won't Apple fix the wifi connectivity problem with the iMac and new OS instead of just havin us go through hours of useless mock fixes!

I have spent hours with apple care about this problem with wifi connectivity.  According to all the posts I'm not alone.  I love my new IMAC
but i'll be glad to go back to my PC just so I can get my email without all the headaches.  It seems that Apple has lost interest in
the IMAC and all of the problems associated with the new OS.

Keep in mind that ASC is where people go to get help, so yes, you are seeing reports of people who are having WiFi connection issues. But while it might seem like there are lots of people having trouble, given the sheer number of iMacs in use, it is a very small number. Also keep in mind that WiFi isn't totally under Apple's control. There are dozens of WiFi routers. Even worse, the manufacturers of WiFi routers often release firmware upgrades to fix flaws without ever informing the consumer. And just to add to the confusion, while WiFi 801.2 n routers have been sold for several years, for most of that time there was no agreed upon standard!
So if you'd like help, first, what router do you have and have you checked the vendor site to see that it has the latest firmware?

  • About the wifi disconnection problem that me and many of you have...

Before making a hasty post on this new chic discussions forum I went through the recent activity and found many of you randomly loose connectivity to their wifi routers. I recent bought a Belkin Surf 802.11n router and have been having similar problems. The Airport icon would show connectivity but safari would fail to load pages, including the router's gui page.
Upon reconnection things would work fine.
I found something common among all the times this happened to me. My iPhone 3G was placed just next to my MacBook pro, about 1 feet away, on the desk whenever this happened. also, it comes across the path of the MacBook pro and the router.
I'm wondering if this is a problem relating to signal interference. interestingly, the old router was a/b/g and the new is a/b/g/n and the iPhone 3g is only up till g. so it could possibly me a signal mix up of the two devices, MacBook  on n and iPhone 3g on g.
has anyone of u too had a wifi device nearby when this happened, particularly an iPhone 3g.
also, if this problem is because of something else, please tell me what it is and what's the solution, if u know.
    thanks.

    Hi Macybean,
Please continue your other thread here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15051193
You obviously haven't found a solution yet, and didn't add that detail there.  It is better to finish one thread, get it answered completely, than interrupt another person's with a "me too" especially if there are numerous causes that could possibly cause the same issue.  It is harder to isolate issues, if they are melded in the same thread.  Now if you have a solution you can offer, that's fine.
    Thank you.

  • I called Apple about the 20" iMac display problem today...

I have the same display problem that I've been reading about here, it's much much brighter on the bottom of my screen than on the top and viewing the screen from an angle makes the screen look very dusty and dirty.
First I talked to technical support and because I live 75 miles from an Apple store, he said a technician would come and look at it tomorrow even though I said it was a problem that is very common and just not on my computer. It will be interesting to see what the technician says.
Then I called customer relations to put in a formal complaint against the 20" iMac screens. I told the man that even on the Apple support forums here that everyone was complaining about it. He said everyone where he worked was using 20" iMacs and as he looked at the screens next to him, he noticed that the colors were all off, looking dirty brown like mine. He said that's just how the new 20" screens were. I tried my best to tell him that it just wasn't right that the screens were so flawed and, although he kind enough and understanding, he didn't see any big problem with them.
He did submit my formal complaint at the end but I have to tell you all, it sure looks like Apple does not see any problem with these screens. He suggested that I write to Apple at their corporate office to let them know of these problems. Here is that address:
    Apple
    1 Infinite Loop
    Cupertino, CA 95014
So that's my next step, writing to the corporate office.
I'll update this post after the technician comes tomorrow. I really don't expect this to be fixed but I shall let everyone know.
    Martha

I have been watching this forum for months and have come to a conclusion that Apple
has taken the "easy road" by using cheaper components as evidenced by these discussions pertaining to cheap lcd computer screens. Also, with the Imac there is limited upgrade paths and the fact now
the imac has become more of a glorified computer with the internals of a laptop which suggests it is almost mandatory to pay extra for apple care for 3 year warranty because of uncertainty for longevity in my opinion. I am still using an apple 2002 quicksilver G-4 computer almost 6 years old that has not given me and problem. I have also been able to upgrade the hard drive, dvd rom drive myself-you cannot readily do with the current imacs. I was thinking about replacing my G-4 with an Imac, but have now come to the conclusion that Apple is losing focus with providing quality products and unless something drastic happens which I doubt, Apple will lose me as a future customer. I may be forced to go to the other side and buy a PC.

  • How do I erase an older Western Digital 1TB mirrored hard drive? Newer drives can be erased via a WD Utility, but the WD site says to "ask Apple" about the older ones.

I have a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.7.5.  The hard drive is approx. six years old - a Western Digital for Macs, mirrored with 1TB on each half.
Because the drive is "infected" with Time Machine backups that I can't erase, I have removed all important files from the drive and now want to wipe it clean.  I've done this with new drives, via the WD Utility that came with the drive, but the older drive doesn't have such a utility.  The WD site only has a protocol for PCs.
I find nothing on the Apple site itself.  Can you community members help??
(I've tried various ways of deleting the Time Machine backups, but nothing has worked.  The instructions for that, which I read on a community support site, were too advanced for me to understand.  A Mac IT guy tried to erase the backups, but he didn't know how either.  So that is why I'm erasing the drive totally.  I've learned my lesson and have a dedicated Time Machine drive now.)

    Please be clear:
This is a mirrored RAID that you use as the startup disk?
You now have a different startup disk and wish to erase the RAID mirror?
Do you wish to continue using the RAID for backup?
If all you want to do is erase the RAID to get rid or the Time Machine backups, the use Disk Utility to erase the mirror disk mounted on the Desktop.

  • NOTIFYING APPLE ABOUT THE MANY PROBLEMS OF ITUNES

I have gone back and read all the posts that sounded similar to my problem with copying a playlist to a CD via iTunes and not having them record. And I'd also like to know where the file extension .m4a came from. Sounds like a lot of problems with the new 8.0 iTunes out there. How do we let Apple know of this? Do they every read these posts? Thanks for any help.

I'd also like to know where the file extension .m4a came from.
The .m4a extension is the standard extension for MPEG-4 audio as defined by the standards committee.

  • How to tell Apple about the bugs

I do not think Apple read this community
Therefor EVERYONE here should report bugs to
    https://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
Be sure it is a bug and not a question

You're right, Apple doesn't read the community. You can't post the feedback link too many times. Hopefully people will see your post and report the bugs, that's the only way they will be solved.

  • HT3986 Whats about the Wifi driver for win7 on MacBook pro with Retina Display?

    Hi guys
I have a MacBook pro with retina display.
I've tried to install win 7 64 bit with boot camp.
Win 7 works but I have now Wifi connection and I can't find any solution
I can't use the automatic search function from win7 because I can't  use LAN because I have no LAN connection in this Mac.
So can anybody help me with this problem?

Did you download and install the Windows support software. The first menu option when running Bootcamp Assistant was to download the Windows Support software.
If you did download and install the Windows Support Software and wifi still does not work for you, consult Windows help files for how to set up wifi.
