Saving filled out for saves ip address causing problems

I have an application that users use from within the company network and from outside. A web page opens an adobe form that the users fill out and save back to the server, in the form of an FDF. Some change in Adobe versions has started to save the ip address of the template file within the fdf. This is now causing the problem that people inside the company network who want to open to view the document can't see a document created from outside because it is looking for the template at the wrong ip address, and people outside can't see documents created by people inside. Is there any solution to this problem? I tried writing a program to change the ip address but I just get damaged files.
Thanks for your help.

I have an vbscript asp page that opens the form within the web application with Adobe Reader plug in, filling out parts of the form with data from a database. I use the following code to create the form:
i dim FdfAcX
i Set FdfAcX = Server.CreateObject("FdfApp.FdfApp")
i Set outputFDF = FdfAcX.FDFCreate
i outputFDF.FDFSetValue "somefield", somevalue, False
The form has a button on it that directs to another ASP page that then gets the form data and saves it all:
i Set FDFin = FdfAcx.FDFOpenFromBuf (Request.BinaryRead(Request.TotalBytes))
i activity_id = FDFIn.FDFGetValue("activity_id")
i FDFin.FDFSetFile form_name & ".FDF"
i FDFin.FDFSaveToFile reportSavedFolder & file_name
i FDFin.FDFClose
When I look in the file created, I have the following characters at the end:
i /UF (http://10.10.0.8/pages/reports/templates/PW3N2008.pdf)
/F (PW3N2008.FDF)>> >> endobjtrailer<</Root 1 0 R >>%%EOF
the 10.10.0.8 is causing a problem -- people on the outside trying to open this form to view get an error. When people on the outside create the form, a different ip address is saved there and people on the inside can't open it.
I dont know how to set it up so that the F key is not included, but I'm also not sure that would work -- what I really want is not to have the ip address in there. If I did not point to the pdf, would it look anything like the original pdf? Is there a way to use relative addressing of the path and not have the ip address?
Thanks so much for your help.

    Hi,
Yes, you can save each form after filling the information, but each with a different name.

  • Is there a way to create a PDF form that ANYONE can fill out and SAVE with their content?

Is there a way to create a PDF form that ANYONE can fill out and SAVE with their content? By anyone, I mean someone who can download and use the free Adobe Reader, on either a Mac or PC. I have Acrobat Pro, and would like to be able to create forms that can not only be filled out and printed, but saved and emailed, which is not an option with the forms I have created to date. They can be filled out, but not saved, with Adobe Reader.
    TIA,
    Nancy

To do what Dave indicated you need to do, it depends on what version of Acrobat you have:
Acrobat 8: Advanced > Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader
Acrobat 9: Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader
Acrobat 10: File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features
Acrobat 11: File > Save as Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools (includes form fill-in & save)
I wonder what it will be next time?

  • Software/app required on phone devices to fill out, sign, save and email.

New user.  Set up my first form and emailed from mac to laptop and worked great.  Tried to fill our form on my iPhone and galaxy and can't edit.  What software/app is required on user devices to fill out, sign, save and email?  Thx

The built-in PDF viewer on iOS does not support forms. Adobe Reader on iOS has some support and should work for what you want, but you may need to use the built-in methods for signing and emailing. Readdle's PDF Expert has better support, including more support for JavaScript. Neither support digital signatures, but both support a hand-drawn signature.
Adobe Reader on Android just had to drop support for JavaScript due to a security concern, so another option you might want to look into is qPDF Notes, which supports actual digital signatures and e-signing.

  • Need to create form that user can fill out and SAVE in Reader

    Hi,
My form, which of course works fine in Adobe Acrobat 4 CS4, is unsaveable when typed into with Acrobat Reader. It says at the top:
"Please fill out the following form. You cannot save data typed into this form. Please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your records."
*I know it's possible* to make it writable/saveable for Readers users, because I have here a form that someone else created, and in Reader the message says, "Please fill out the following form. You can save data typed into this form."
What setting do I need to change in Acrobat to make it saveable in Reader? Document attached.
    Thank you in advance!!!!

    Phillip,
    Thank you for the clarification.
I cannot seem to find the post that mentioned that this could not be done; perhaps it was for an older version of Acrobat. If I find it, I'll send you the URL.
This is a form that will reside on a web site for download, and the forms are used by individuals to track exercise as part of a community nonprofit wellness program. I doubt 500 folks will use it. We can monitor downloads.
If we need to go above 500 downloads, how would we go about purchasing a license for additional use? And, is there a chance that Adobe will increase this limit for a purpose that is non-commercial and non-profit?
    Thanks.
I don't know the answers to the question about license for additional use, nor would Adobe increase the limit. I  among other that were associated with Non-profits (I was treasury for an Electronics Association for 17 years) were the reason for adobe doing this to begin with. Before Acrobat 8, you had to use the other methods mentioned (The LiveCycle Server).

  • Do I need Pro to fill out and save forms?

I created a form for my business using Pro-9. What version is required for the end user to open this form, fill out the fields, and save the filled out form?

You  might want to look at the FAQs at the top of this forum.
A lot will depend upon your users and the product and version that they have. Your users should be using Reader version 7 or better and you should enable Extended Reader Rights.

  • How to find My info card to fill out for Siri?

I just bought my first iPhone 4S and am trying to set up Siri. I went to Apple website (from my iMac) and followed the instruction on manual but could not find "your personal info card ("My info") in Contacts to fill out. The manual says "Go to Settings>Siri>My Info, then tap your name", but all I see is the list of contacts and there is no access to get to "My Info" or my name. I even tried to "Add" myself as a new contact so that I can "tap my name", but then there is no box to fill in home and work addresses on "your card".
By the way, I had to get to Siri from Settings then to General then to Siri.  Maybe this manual is old one for iPhone 4?   If so where can I find the right one for 4S?
The whole purpose here is to let Siri recognize who I am.
    Thanks for your help!
    Lako

I'm pretty sure you were reading the correct manual but to be sure: open Safari on your iPhone, click the Bookmarks icon and then find iPhone User Guide. You can also add a user guide icon to your home screen.
    See:
Downloading a User Guide for your iPod, iPhone, iPad, Mac
If you think something is excluded from the manual you can leave Apple feedback: http://apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • Saving filled out forms created in Acrobat Pro 8?

I'm at a loss and have searched through countless online forums and can't find a solution that will work. I have Acrobat Professional 8 and my employees use Reader X, can I create forms that have fields that the users can fill in and then save the forms to their local drive, completely filled out? I have seen some blogs that mention that this capability is in the "Save As" feature, but it doesn't appear to be in mine, so I don't know if I have a different version or am doing something wrong. Any help would be great!

You are the best! I have looked all over and didn't look there. Thanks again so much.

  • Using a MAC to fill out PC Created PDF forms creating problems

We have created a number of forms using LiveCycle to be filled out by clients.  They include submit buttons that send the form back as a PDF (rather than a data file).  The forms were then opened in  Acrobat 8 Professional and usage rights enabled to allow the clients to save a copy of the completed form.
They work great...unless the client is using a MAC.  We have encountered the following problems with MAC filled forms:
    1) client entered data is present but only visible when the field is clicked on
    2) the Print and Submit by E-mail buttons do not work for MAC users
    3) the tabbing order is inconsistent
Any ideas of ways we can make our forms more compatible for MAC users??
    Many Thanks!

    Hi Rod,
Sorry I replied a few days ago, but for some reason it didn't seem to get added to the thread.  So, here we go again ...
The "fix field" script worked great for me.  So, we have been using that solution when needed.  Unfortunately, I am not enough of an expert on these things to provide an intelligent answer as to why it may not be working for you.
But, it also became evident from dialogue and testing that the issue only occurs when recipients use MAC Preview to complete the forms.  So, on some forms I have just added a note saying - MAC Users: Please complete the form using Adobe Reader.  As this is, of course, free software, which most people already have installed on their computer, this seems to prevent the problem from occurring as well.
Hope that is at least a little bit helpful.

  • I was offered a free trial and it does not work, I filled out name and home address for future action i.e. full member ship but still trial does not do enough to print my pdf to word converstion and did not allow me to print once ready!!!

I was using adobe reader with no problems but when I went to print an pdf file to a word document it did not work and adobe wanted to charge me approx. $ 25.00. I do not understand because I just installed this adobe program, how can I convert a pdf file to a word file and then print it out?

The usual cause of a problem such as you describe is this.
    1. I download Adobe Acrobat Pro free trial.
    2. I install the trial (or not).
    3. But then I run Adobe Reader
    4. I try to use Export PDF or Create PDF in Adobe Reader.
    5. Nothing has changed, these still need a subscription.
If this is the case, make sure you use Acrobat. It does NOT change Reader, it's entirely separate from it.

  • Stop Mail filling out unwanted information in Address Book contact's

I originally posted this problem in the MobileMe forum ( http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1765577&tstart=0 ) thinking it was that but having not received any replies there and now realising it is Mail/Address Book causing it I hope to have more luck here!
I created a contact in Address Book a while back which I gave the first name 'Daddy' and, understandably, left the second blank, however my Dad has his email account set to display the name Peter Ledger so every time I send him an email it seems to try and be clever and see that the contact I have associated with that address does not have a second name and try and add it in for me so I end up with the contact 'Daddy Ledger' which is just weird!
Is there any way of stopping it doing this? ... it is quite annoying having to edit the contact each time I send him an email and as MobileMe syncs the information across if I forget to do it I get funny looks when I get a call and name on the screen reads 'Daddy Ledger'!

Yes, this has been a feature since 10.2. But I believe I have discovered a way to stop it entirely. It will also stop contacts from being added to your Previous Recipients list in Mail. Copy/paste this command into Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.mail SuppressAddressHistory -bool true
Then you can change all your contacts that have been modified previously by incoming email, and they should not change again unless you make the change. Also, Mail will no longer add any email address to the Previous Recipients list.

  • Computer names persistently associated with a MAC address causing problems

Our WDS server will assign out a computer name like CompanyName###  This is great.
The problem is sometimes WDS will assign a computer name that is getting associated with the MAC address somehow--I assume this is what's happening--and kick a computer off the domain that now has that computer name.
Is there some way I can disable the association of computer names with MAC addresses, or persistent computer names?

    Hi,
How did you define your naming policy in WDS or in your answer file?
    3.1.1.4 Machine Naming Policy

    Please also check this hotfix:
Windows Deployment Services generates duplicate client computer names when the %MAC variable is used

  • I can't download updates for Firefox (which is causing problems,) because Bitdefender 2011 says it's toolbar is incompatible or something. :( Any suggestions?

I'm having trouble with internet speed/crashing/"timing out"/etc., and keep getting reminders to update Firefox, but every time I try to update it, it goes through the motions, and then Bitdefender 2011 gives me a message saying that Firefox's toolbar is incompatible or something, and so it wasn't installed. :(
Is anyone else having this problem, and, if so, is there a way to update Firefox WITHOUT taking virus protection off of my computer, or having to change to Explorer or Safari?
My ISP told me that I should update my DSL box and router to THEIR newest version (at CenturyLink,) and use Explorer, and that would take care of the problem. :(
I'm not sure about the DSL box and Netgear WIFI's connection to Explorer vs. Firefox, but I have always heard that Explorer had a higher virus rate than Firefox or Safari, so...really don't WANT to switch if I can possibly FIX the constant problems. :(
ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated!
    Thank you!
    -Angie-

I am connected to the internet via a wireless network set up in my home. There are two other PCs connected to the network, one a desktop and the other a laptop. Neither have had any problems using or connecting to the internet. I have a DSL connection. I have tried to directly connect with the router with an ethernet cable, but the same thing happens.

  • How can I find out if Apple is addressing a problem?

I'm having a problem with Safari on an iPad. Quite often when I use the back button Safari will go to an old version of the page. I've posted on a thread in the safari community which describes the same problem, and I can see other questions about the same problem. So it seems to me that this is definitely a bug in the latest version of Safari, but how can I tell if Apple have acknowledged that and are working on a fix?

Sign up for a free online developer account:
    http://developer.apple.com/
    Post to http://bugreporter.apple.com/
Wait for an e-mail response and or monitor the bug's status.   Often it will get Closed with no response.  But a Duplicate bug may get future viewing if enough people report it.  Don't forget it has a non-disclosure agreement, so no one here can tell you if they have any response from reporting the bug.
    Good luck!
