The App store is not letting me use my gift card to purchase any apps...ideas?

It is a $100 gift card and has already been redeemed and purchases have been made previously. There is a remaining balance on the card. When i sign into the app store, there used to be a balance that appeared beside the "account" tab, but now it is gone! Everytime I try to make a purchase, the app store asks me to confirm the billing information and to resign into my mac account. Once i sign in, it asks for my billing information again and the cycle continues. Not too sure what I'm supposed to do. Also, it has worked until yesterday when I downloaded the new itunes and synced my newly purchased iphone with my mac.

Hi Sunny ...
Several things to try ...
If you are running v10.6, install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
If you are running v10.7, install the OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Client Combo)
That will reinstall the  App Store for you. Restart your Mac after the combo is installed.
Try logging into the App Store and check your balance.
You can also view your balance is the account area at the iTunes Store on your Mac.

When you review your account in the Edit Payment Information window in either the Mac App Store or iTunes Store, don't forget to the click the Done button bottom right side of the window.
If nothing above has helped, try resetting your iTunes account. You can do that here >   Apple - My Apple ID
And try deleting the cache associated with the App Store. Quit the App Store if it's open.
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash. Try the App Store.
