Use of Aggregation tab of key figure

Hello Gurus ,
Please tell me use of Aggregation tab of key figure , and where it affects ?

hi,
check the below links for aggregation and with examples..
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/47/607899dcce6834e10000000a421937/frameset.htm
To enable the calculation of key figures, the data from the InfoProvider has to be aggregated to the detail level of the query and formulas may also need to be calculated. The system has to aggregate using multiple characteristics. In regard to a selected characteristic, the system can aggregate with another rule for each key figure (exception aggregation).
During aggregation, the OLAP Engine in BI proceeds as follows:
       1.      First, standard aggregation is executed. Possible aggregation types include summation (SUM), minimum (MIN) and maximum (MAX). Minimum and maximum can, for example, be used for date key figures.
       2.      Aggregation using a selected characteristic occurs after standard aggregation (exception aggregation). The available exception aggregation types include average, counter, first value, last value, minimum, maximum, no aggregation, standard deviation, summation, and variance. Application cases for exception aggregation include warehouse stock, for example, that cannot be totaled over time, or counters that count the number of characteristic values for a certain characteristic

  • How to avoid aggregation on a key figure

    Hi SDN,
Is there a way to avoid aggregation on a key figure? We have a situation where we have multiple records for a particular order/item. So a key figure like Net Price simply adds up which is wrong. We just want to repeat it and not aggregate.
    Any solution?
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi,
    Try this,
    in InfoObject Aggregation Tab:
    Aggregation :SUM
Exception Aggregation: No Aggregation (X, If more than one records Occurs).
else try with more than one value

  • Exception aggregation for calculated key figure

Is it possible to have exception aggregation for calculated key figure in BW 3.5? As per Note 1151857, it is possible, however this note applies to BI 7.0.
As per note 152638, it is possible in older version only simple ckfs like 'CKF = Base key figure'.
Is there any workaround to define exception aggregation for complex CKFs in BW 3.5?
My requirement is like this -
CKF = (sales quantity - forecast) %share (sales quantity).
Aggregation for CKF over time should be sum whereas, for all other characteristics calculation of CKF should be done after aggregation(normal scenario).
So, defining exception aggregation of CKF as 'Summation' over time should fulfil my requirement.
I can not use calculate result as 'summation' setting for CKF because of following design of report.
    Report contains structure(characteristic)
    Elements of structure are -
    Last 3 months(April - June)
    Last 3 months - 1 (Mar - May)
    Last 3 months - 2 (Feb - Apr)
    and so on...
When data is aggregated for each element of structure, base KFs will be aggregated and calculations will be done on that.
Changes in the backend are also not possible because, normal aggregation of CKF-alike in backend will be summation for all characteristics.
Is there any way in BW 3.5 to model such a scenario?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Anup Kulkarni

Sum of individual values of CKFs is not same as the Calculation on 'sum of basic key figures(result of basic key figures)'.  - Yes, you are right.
I need to aggregate CKF over time as SUM. However, calculation for result of all other characteristics should be based on results of basic key figures and not the 'Sum of individual values of CKF'.  -
What i understood is that whenever the time char is in row, then result should be simple on the sum what ur getting but when other char are there then it should go for calculation based on the sum of key figure.
If im not wrong in getting ur point.
How can two differenct activites be perofrmed on same key figure depending on the characteristic .....!. For this u have to think some other possibility or let somebody else update the thread.

  • How to use a object for both key figure and as a charcteristc

    Dear all,
we have a requirement where in we have to use Version Field as a key figure and as well as a charecteristc.

    Dear Mayank Gupta
    Thxs for ur reply
We are creating a EBIDTA Report which is already developed in R/3 and these result will be stored in Z table.
we have created a DSO which will store this Z table data.
Now the req is we have a created a field called ZVersion which is there in the Key fields of DSO. ok
But in report we want to use the condition TOP1 on the version. as the version is a not a key figure we cant create the Conditon on the characteristc.
If we use version as a key figure then the records are summurised in DSO as u have to insert it in Data Field.
we want to use version as a primary key.
so how to go abt it?

  • Use of Aggregation tab in New formula in BEx quert designer

    Hi,
I used the aggreagtion tab in setting up new formula for key figures. i selected the maximum and given particular charasterstic field and saved.
when i looked in the output i cant see any difference.
we are setting formula for key figures and its asking for charasterisic field i coulnt get clear idea about this.
can any one tell me what is the use of this aggregation tab?
In formula screen for the general tab  what ever the calculation i am doing there its working properly, only in the aggreation tab whatever i am setting only that is not working.
    Regards,
    Thanesh

    Hi Thanesh,
Refernce characteristic field should be selected in relation to which the key figure is to be aggregated with the exception aggregation. Often this is a time characteristic. However, you can use any characteristic.
    Best Example
If you want to count sales orders
By giving COUNT of all values with refence charactersitc as Sales document, you will get the desired result.
    There are three aggregation options:
    ●      Minimum (MIN): The minimum value of all values displayed in this column is displayed in the results row.
    ●      Maximum (MAX): The maximum value of all values displayed in this column is displayed in the results row.
    ●      Summation (SUM): The sum of all values displayed in this column is displayed in the results row.
Another Example :The key figure Number of Employees would, for example, be totaled using the characteristic Cost Center, and not a time characteristic. Here you would determine a time characteristic as an exception characteristic with, for example, the aggregation Last Value.
    Hope this helps

  • Get variable in Target currency under currency conversion Tab for Key Figure

    Hi Experts,
In one of the query in BEx Designer, for particular set of key figures I am unable to edit Target Currency under currency conversion.
We created user exit and using a variable in BEx.
When I chose currency conversion parameter in "Currency Conversion", Value in Target currency is empty but I am expecting the variable to get displayed over there.
Please suggest me how to get variable in target currency. or how to edit property of key figure "Target Currency"
    Thanks,
    Saravanan.

    HI,
which parameter you maintained in conversion type that is currency translation type which is maintained at T-code RSCUR and see which info object you maintained at currency tab after defining the currency translation type i.e at Target currency -> Info object  for determining Target currency which  is FROM INFO OBJECT in Target currency .
    Hope this will help you.

  • How to use exception for a Date Key Figure

    Hello All,
                    I have the following requirement.
    1. I have a Key Figure which is Date Type.
    2. I need to color the cell to green if the it is filled with date otherwise leave it as it is.
Please suggest how to overcome it.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rajib

    hi,
Your requirement is not clear, you have the below setup
    I have the following requirement.
    1. I have a Key Figure which is Date Type.
How can a KF be of date type, or is it the value of a date characteristic that you have extracted in KF using formula variable. If yes you just need to define exception for the value greater than 0.
    regards,
    Arvind.

  • Using Formula variable in a key figure formula

    Hi Expert,
Can anyone tell me how to use a formula variable to pass the fiscal year variable value (with offset values define in different columns) to the be used in the formula (if statements)?
Currently, I create a formula variable using replacement path from the fiscal year reference object and key but it's not pull the correct value. I'm not sure what's the difference between the different objects i.e. key, external char key value, attribute value etc.
    Please give me some lights.

  • InfoSet - Aggregated Value of Key Figures Field in BEx

    Hi,
I have created an InfoSet which is comprised of 1 InfoObject and 3 DSOs. I can see there are more records in the InfoSet than in the BEx report for the InfoSet and in the BEx report the value of an amount field summed up for the duplicate records fall within the same date range. Example:
    In the InfoSet I see:
Name       Valid From     Valid To         Amount
    Record 1: James      16.06.1998     31.12.1998     25000
    Record 2: James      16.06.1998     31.12.1998     25000
For the corresponding record in the BEx report for the InfoSet I see:
    Record: James     16.06.1998    31.12.1998     50000
It is correct that this particular record is displayed once in the report but the value of the amount field shouldn't be added up. Do you have idea of this?
You help on this is much appreciated.

    Hi,
U want to be added the amount field or u dnt want to be cumulate the value..

  • What is cumulative key figure and non cumulative key figure?

    Hi Experts,
can anyone clarify me about KEY FIGURES in detail with an example for each topic like
1.Aggregation Tab in Key Figure InfoObject
    2.Cummulative
    3.Non Cummulative/Cummulative Values
    4.Non Cummulative( Inflow & Outflow )
I think it would be better understandable with if explained with example
    Thanks,
    Venu Gopal.K

    HI ,
Cumulative values are those key figures that are cumulated using all characteristics, thus also using time.
    Example: sales revenue, weight, etc.
Non-cumulative values are those key figures that are measured in relation to a period in time; that is to say they cannot be meaningfully cumulated over time. Non-cumulative values are summarized over time using so-called exception aggregation.
Example: stock quantities/-values, number of employees, account balances, etc.

  • Calculated key figures before aggregation

    Hi,
I'm having trouble creating a new calculated key figure. Here's the situation.
I have two key figures: stock, value A. Now I want to create a new calculated key figure (in 3.x) using both key figures. The calculation would look something like: "stock * (value A == 0)". Now I want this key figure to work before aggregation. When creating this calculated key figure however I am unable to set the aggregation setting to before aggregation. Now, with any other key figure besides stock, this is no problem. Something like "profit * value A == 0)" works fine and I can set the aggregation setting to before aggregation. I suspect the reason I can't use stock in a calculated key figure set the calculate before aggregation is because of the exception aggregation of the stock key figure. It's set to last value in exception aggregation.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanks in advance.
    Alex

    Hi Alex,
    please read this:

The reason that somtimes the propertie is available or not depends on the key figure type - e.g. if it is complex or not. I think that here is a lot of info available in the forum.

  • How to calculate key figure before aggregation for complex formular?

    Hi, buddies
    <b>Here's the simplified senario</b>:
I have a cube, in which the characteristics are 'Calendar Day' and 'Hour' (values are 01~24), and the key figures are stored by day and by hour.
What I need is very simple, a query to display calculated key figures only by Calendar Day. I don't need Hour information.
So I create a query: column charact is Calendar Day, rows are several calculated key figures.
    <b>Now the problem is that</b>:
if I don't put 'Hour' as row in the query, I'll get WRONG result. But if I put 'Hour' as row in the query, I'll get CORRECT result, but all the 'Hour' details will display, which should be hided.
<b>I know the reason is that</b>:
the calculated key figure that I create should be calucated before aggregation, not after. But since the formular is pretty complex, I can't change the 'Time of Aggregation Calculation' in key figure's property. (It's greyed out.) So I have to put 'Hour' as row in the query to force calcuation 'before aggregation' in query and set the property 'Calculate Result As...' as 'Summary'.
    <b>My question</b> is:
whether there's any other way to force calcuation 'before aggregation', so I don't have to put 'Hour' in the query.
If no, is there a simple way to hide the 'Hour' details and only display summary result ON THE QUERY LEVEL? (
<i>I can hide detail lines by using web template, or maybe using VB in excel. But I can't use either of them. I want to hide the details on the QUERY LEVEL. So I can use the query directly in any other reporting tools, like Visual Composer.</i>)
    Any idea?
    Wei

    Hi, Sudeepta
    Thanks for your reply.
I did try to set 'No display' for 'Hour'. The result is that the Characteristics 'Hour' doesn't appear on the query result, but the detailed line of key figures still display on the result. It looks like the followings: (I put summaries on the top/right)
    Date  1/1  1/2  Overall result
    KPI1    10        11   22  (sum line)
    KPI2    20        21   41  (sum line)
    KPI1    12        13   25  (detailed line)
    KPI2    13        13   26  (detailed line)
    KPI1    11        12   23  (detailed line)
    KPI2    12        12   24  (detailed line)
I want to suppress all the detailed lines and leave sum lines on the result.

  • Using Characteristic in Calculated key figure

    Hello every one,
I need a help. Can anyone help me in solving one requirement.
I want to know if i can use a Characteristic in calculated key figure.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
You can try to create a formula variable of type replacement path and supply this char to pull the value from. Evaluate this value as a boolean (1 or 0 for if there is a value or not). Then you can create a new formula using this formula variable and your CKF. If the result is 1, then you get the value of the CKF, or if the indicator returns 0, then you get 0 as the result.
    Hope this helps...

  • Characteristic used as a key figure

    Hi,
I have a characteristic (TRANSACTIONID) with many attributes. The NARATIVE is one of its navigation attribute (is a characteristic char(30) ). For some transaction the NARATIVE may contain a description, but for others it can contain a TAX value.
In my reports I have to use this characteristic as a Key figure and also to use currency translation to show this key figure in other currency.
I tried with replacement path but it didn't work.
    Is it possible somehow?
    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Dragos

Thanks a lot for your answers,
I tried in Query Design but I cannot make this possible.
I have added a new key figure in the cube and made a transformation between that characteristic and this key figure.
