User Data Import

I add about 800 users to a portal group via a User Data Import.  All of the users were added to the group which had a role assigned to it.  But, when the users logged in they had no roles assigned to their account.  Though everything worked fine when we removed the user and re-added them back to the group.  I do not want to do this for the rest of the 800 users as this would take us days.  Anyone know how we can rectify this issue?

Have you tried a portal restart ?
It is not unlikely that the problem is in UME caching (which will at least be reloaded after a restart, but there are probably also other ways)

  • Data import for users of forms created with Livecycle Designer

    Hello,
    I have seen several posts regarding data import for forms created by Livecycle Designer but nothing that helps with something I am trying to accomplish.  I can create a data connection and import information in a form but what I would like to do is import data, then send the pdf for completion to a user.  There are a few data elements that I have available and the rest of the information comes from from the user.  The problem I run into is once I create a data connection, the pdf is ALWAYS looking for the source file for that data.  I simply want to prepopulate some fields and send to the various users for completion.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Which type of Data Connection are you trying to create?
    XML Schema, Sample Data File or WSDL?
    Creating any one of first two types(mentioned above) will only create schema and will never import any data into PDF.
    If you create the WSDL connection, you can surely import data (i.e. prepopulate data) into your PDF and forward it for users review/fill.
    If I misunderstood your question, please get me clarified.

  • Data Import from Excel - Users Logged on

    Hello all,
    I am new the forums and am learning SAP from a user and administrator perspective so please excuse if some of my questions seem obvious.  I appreciate everyone's help very help
    I have the task of setting up two new company profiles in addition to our current one.
    I am at the stage of importing Item Master and Business Partner data.
    1) What is the preferred method?  DTW vs. Import from Excel?  Is one more suitable then the other for this purpose?
    2) The help file for importing via excel states "If SAP Business One is running on a network, you have ensured that other users will be logged off the system during the import."  Could someone please explain:
    - What are the risks of running DTW or imports while users are logged in?
    - If users are logged into the live version of our company but I am testing DTW/excel imports from a TEST copy of that company are there still risks or is this okay?
    - If users are logged into one database but I am performing data imports on a different company database (for example I would be the only one logged into the companies currently being set up - is this okay even though users are logged into SAP server but accessing a different company?)
    Thanks very much!
    Richard

    Hi Kiwi,
    Referring to the Rules of enagement you have to post one thread per question. Please adhere to the rules from your next post.
    DTW is the very much Preferred method you have simulation to see if you record are find to be imported before importing to the DB, using DTW Import from Excel will only help importing  BP and Item master data. If you have to make any updates then it will be a task again. In DTW you can save the template and keep adding data and changes can be updated from the template and re-imported
    Please refer to the link below to "Differences between the Import From Excel and Data Transfer Workbench templates" the screen shots for DTW are from version before 2007A SP01 PL09.
    [http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/B1/DifferencesbetweentheImportFromExcelandDataTransferWorkbenchtemplatesandwhathappenswhentheyare+interchanged.]
    1. When users are logged on It can cause some inconsistency, ensure no user is logged on the live DB before performing any major DTW import
    2. It will be ok if you are Test importing data to test DB on the same SQL server.

  • Importing User data

    I was wondering if any of you with the new Intel bassed iMacs got the option of booting your previous Mac in Firewire disc mode and importing the user data as you can between G4's and G5's.
    I have found this extememly time saving when setting up new Macs but it did occur to me if this would work between G4/G5 and Intel based machines.
    Many thanks.

    I've used Migration Asst. twice. The first time was migrating data using the same account name from the old to the new and resulted in many duplicate files and applications which I then had to cull through & delete.
    Second time I set up a "dummy" acct. on the new machine at first boot, then Migrated the old account over, switched to it, and deleted the dummy (some would say as long as I'm around I must have missed). Anyway this method worked much better for me, with no duplication of apps or data. YMMV.
    Personally, coming from the bad old Windows days, I prefer to create a fresh install of everything when I get a new machine. .Mac makes it easy to sync most important settings, and if you add Backup to the list you can have a copy of your important data online and just bring it over.
    But that doesn't work for large iTunes Libraries or iMovie files, etc. For them the best idea is a dedicated (FireWire) bootable backup drive.
    I guess I'm maintaining a prejudice against Migration Asst. for no very good reason, but there it is.

  • Corrupt User Data Spinning Wheel Of Death Mac Palm Desktop Rev D

    Hello,
    My Treo 700p stopped working and Palm Desktop on My Mac will not open, import, or merge my user data files (current and backups). I've tried the apple-option Merge and import tricks to no avail. If it is set as the default user data, palm desktop will freeze on its splash screen and give me the spinning wheel of death. If i open, i get the message "Opening User Data One moment please..." with an eternal spinning wheel of death (SWOD). If i restore (apple-option merge) i immediately get the SWOD, If i merge, i am notified that the merge is successful, but then i get the spinning wheel of death before any data is displayed. I can open the userdata in textwrangler and see all of the phone numbers, notes, etc, but It seems impossible to parse into any format for reimporting or moving to my Pre. Are there any other tricks to opening the user data or recovering its contents. Any debug tools or software interrupts or anything I can do? Is there a way to open this stuff in a properly parsed format? Can User Data files be opened or imported by any other app? Also the Treo 700p gets power and the red light stays on but it never boots, perhaps there is a forensic tool that can recover the data?
    Thank You for all your help and I would greatly appreciate any resolution.

    What BDAqua said. Get those crummy fonts you added off the drive. At least one of them must be so bad that's it's corrupting RAM every time the system tries to load it.
    A Safe Mode boot removes the user cache files of the account you log into in Safe Mode, and clears Font Book's database. Normally, that would allow you to restart normally since Font Book's database is not rebuilt until you launch Font Book. That you can't even get that far means you have some really BAD fonts.
    Boot into Safe Mode again. Make a new folder on the desktop and move all of the fonts you added out of the /Library/Fonts/ folded, or the Fonts folder of your user account. Whichever one you put them in.
    Now you should be able to startup normally.

  • Use of ODI in Data Import scenario

    Hi,
    We are contemplating to use ODI for a Data Import scenario. The flow goes something like this:
    1.A user specified flat file or xml with a mapping between the file columns and base table columns serves as the input.
    (Note that the file column names could be anything and that is why we use mapping).
    2. This file data is stored in a stager table and certain validations are run on this data.
    3. This data is then imported into the base tables.
    I assume we cannot use ODI for step 1 as the file columns are not fixed and can vary. We need to programmatically interpret the data from the mappings. (Is there a way to do this in ODI?).
    If we use ODI for step 3 to import data from stager to base tables:
    - If we have a million records to be imported, then how performant is ODI? Do we need to invoke ODI in batches of (a few thousands) to improve performance?
    - Thanks in Advance,
    Raghu

    Hi Jont,
    Thanks for your reply..
    Here is an example of the mapping that we use:
    Flat File columns:
    AccName
    AccLoc
    Mapping (Specified by the user at run time):
    AccName -->(Maps to) Account.Name
    AccLoc --> (Maps to) Account.Location
    The user would map the file columns to the final target entity fields (like Account.Name) as above.
    Since, we have to store this data in a intermediate staging table, we would have a mapping internally (which is fixed), like
    Account.Name -->(maps to) AccStager.Name
    Account.Location -->(Maps to) AccStager.Location
    where AccStager.Name is the staging table field name.
    Thus, by using these two sets of mapping, we store the file data into staging table.
    Hope this is clear...
    Thanks,
    Raghuveer

  • To extend SAP user date and to add months to the current date

    Hi All,
    I need to extent the user date in SAP based on one condition.
    If the condition is true extend the date by 12 monthd if false 6 months from the current date.
    Can i have the FM for user date extentions and FM for getting the date.
    Thanks,
    Chandu.

    Hi ,
    You can use this FM for exteding the date.
    CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_USER_CHANGE'
        EXPORTING
          username   = us_username
          logondata  = e_bapilogond
          logondatax = e_bapilogondx
        TABLES
          return     = i_return.
    u need to pass date and correspoing flag also.
    For extension of the date by months u can use this FM.
          CALL FUNCTION 'MONTH_PLUS_DETERMINE'
            EXPORTING
              months  = 6 or 12 ( depending up on ur logic)
              olddate = sy-datum
            IMPORTING
              newdate = us_expdate.
    Thanks and regards.

  • How to Auto-Populate a User Data Picker?

    I understand how User Data Pickers work (mostly).  We have used them during the shell creation process to allow the creator to specify which users may access the shell and in what user groups they will be placed.  This works fine— as the shell is created, these users are added and assigned to their respective groups.
    From the documentation, User Data Pickers are supposed to support auto-population, but the system does not allow me to select a suitable source from which to pull.  For example, the shell attribute form contains a User Data Picker that contains the name of the PM that was assigned to the shell.  Say I have a BP in that shell on which I want the PM’s name to appear.  I’m thinking I would place a User Data Picker on the BP and auto-populate that field from the shell attribute user data picker, but uDesigner doesn’t allow the attribute form as source as it does for other DE types.  This is important as this field, the PM’s name, must be located on the BP if I’m to use it in a LiveCycle report.
    Short of having the user select the name again within the BP, how do I pass the names of shell members that were selected during shell creation using User Data Pickers?
    Thanks.

    That works!  Thanks Rich for clarifying your above posts with the screenshots.
    Rich’s solution as it worked for me:
    1.  Add a User Data Picker to the shell attribute form.
    2.  Add a DE of DD SYS Medium Name to the shell attribute form.  The DD type appears critical here and was my mistake in the past.
    3.  Auto-populate the DE created in step 2: Source Name-->Data Picker; Source Element-->uuu_user_name (in this case).
    4.  On the BP, place the same DE as step 2 and auto-populate (or link) it to the same DE on the shell attribute form.
    What I didn’t expect:
    1. User Data Pickers on BPs cannot reference User Data Pickers on shell attribute forms.  Why do we need additional fields to link two other fields of the same type?
    2. In operation the auto-populate, setup in step 3 above, occurs immediately as if it were a formula instead of just populating upon the shell creation stup as it would on BP creation.

  • Migrating Users & Data from a Powerbook G4 to a MBP

    OK, I'm getting a refurb. MBP and I'm going to need to transfer over my stuff from the Powerbook G4 to the MBP. The thing is...both my 400 and 800 FW ports in the Powerbook have ceased to function, so Target Disk Mode will not work for me. I could use the Ethernet form of transfer to get everything over but that implies that the MBP will have to be up and running and have it's network settings all configured in order for it to be "seen" on the network. Is this the case? Or, upon startup of the MacBoook Pro, will I be prompted to migrate data & users via Ethernet?
    In the past, I've been able to use Target Disk Mode and I'm familiar with that procedure, I just don't know what to expect via an Ethernet migration. Can anyone enlighten me?
    Thanks

    A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
    If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate. Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
    Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
    Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
    Screensavers written for the PowerPC
    System Preference add-ons
    All Unsanity Haxies
    Browser and other plug-ins
    Contextual Menu Items
    Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5
    Kernel extensions
    Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries
    See also What Can Be Translated by Rosetta.
    In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
    If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
    If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers unless they are universal binaries. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
    The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the current choices are USB Overdrive or SteerMouse. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
    Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior 4.1, TechTool Pro 4.6.1, SuperDuper 2.5, and Drive Genius 2.0.2 work properly on Intel-Macs with Leopard. The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries. Leopard Cache Cleaner, Onyx, TinkerTool System, and Cocktail are now compatible with Leopard.
    Before migrating or installing software on your Intel-Mac check MacFixit's Rosetta Compatibility Index.

    Transferring data with Setup Assistant - Migration Assistant FAQ
    Because Migration Assistant isn't the ideal way to migrate from PowerPC to Intel Macs, using Target Disk Mode, copying the critical contents to CD and DVD, an external hard drive, or networking
    will work better when moving from PowerPC to Intel Macs. The initial section below discusses Target Disk Mode. It is then followed by a section which discusses networking with Macs that lack Firewire.
    If both computers support the use of Firewire then you can use the following instructions:
    1. Repair the hard drive and permissions using Disk Utility.
    2. Backup your data. This is vitally important in case you make a mistake or there's some other problem.
    3. Connect a Firewire cable between your old Mac and your new Intel Mac.
    4. Startup your old Mac in Target Disk Mode.
    5. Startup your new Mac for the first time, go through the setup and registration screens, but do NOT migrate data over. Get to your desktop on the new Mac without migrating any new data over.
    If you are not able to use a Firewire connection (for example you have a Late 2008 MacBook that only supports USB:)
    1. Set up a local home network: Creating a small Ethernet Network.

  • Help with data imports and identifying correct contact

    Hi Guys,
    I am looking to import some data from a csv into a table called 'interactions'
    This table is linked to contact via a 1-to-many relationship.
    when I am importing data often I get errors saying that it cant determine which contact to use because we have contacts with the same name.
    Is there anyway I can import data into the 'interaction' table and not only say which contact this is attached to but also provide some more information such as the contacts parent account so that it can identify the correct contact more often and leave
    me less that I need to add manually?
    Many thanks in advance

    The data import wizard is built into CRM.  You can now place csv files of different entities into a single zipped file to do a sort of pseudo batch import.
    It may be helpful to download a template of the import file for the entity that you want to import.  This can be downloaded within CRM.  The benefit is that you are given the column headings.  And when you hover over a column heading, it tells
    you the data type it will expect.  I will use the template and just copy and paste the data in from another spreadsheet if I get the data from a user.  The import runs smoother then.
    If you have the resources, there are 3rd party tools such as Scribe that can import data from different sources into CRM.  A bit costly but you can get a trial version to test.  The trial may only be good for 2 weeks.  But it offers the ability
    to transform data if necessary for the import.

    Can anybody tell me what is the necessity of using R/3 as a user data store (UME) in Portal ?
    What are advantages of it over Portal UME ? In what scenarios can we use R/3 as a user datastore in Portal and how can we make well advantage of it ?
    Any help in this regards would be highly appreciated. Full points would be rewarded for usefull answers.

    Hi,
    Imagine a scenario when most users need data only from r/3 what a bother replicating same users again in Portal - Look at it from administration point of view! and role assignment in sap backend , so many issues.
    Consider that you have built a huge list of users, then you add Portal. How tough to keep portal user profile uptodate with backend.
    This is an important reason in my view, single storage of users - optimum use of database space and efficieny and administrative conveniency.

  • User Admin Import/Export

    I'm trying to get a report of all IDs in our portal & the roles assigned to them.  When I run User Administration -> Import/Export -> User Data Export & I select <ALL USERS> the results are often missing data.  Sometimes I don't get all records; more frequently I get all records (all IDs) but not all roles are included.  e.g. I've just tried it again & have found some IDs which have no data against the role= field (but when I look at the ID I can see that they do have a role).   Other IDs are reported with (say) 2 roles, but I know they have 3 or 4.
    Has anyone seen this?  Does anyone know how to fix it?
    Thanks, Chris

    Is it possible that upgrade BIOS was bring recover system to factory?
    Does data can I recover somehow?
    I need help because there was important databases of company.
    Thanks
    Dariusz

    hi Dariusz,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
    That's really strange indeed and very unusual as I've never seen a BIOS update delete a user's data before. Perhaps you're logged-in to a temporary user profile?
    To check if you're logged-in to a temp profile, show hidden files and navigate to C:\Users and check if you have an identical username with a dollar sign right next to it and apply this fix:
    Fix Corrupt Windows 7 Temporary Profile
    For data recovery, check these Free File Recovery Software Programs.
    Hope this helps
