Washing Machine 2014

Anyone have any experience with the Washing Machine product?  My iMac seems to be running slow.  Would this (or some other product) help?

Do not use apps like MacKeeper or any other maintenance apps like CleanMyMac 1 or 2, TuneUpMyMac or anything like these apps, installed on your Mac?
These types of apps, while they appear to be helpful, can do too good a job of data "cleanup" causing the potential to do serious data corruption or data deletion and render a perfectly running OS completely dead and useless leaving you with a frozen, non-functional Mac.
Plus, these type of apps aren't really necessary.
They really aren't.
There are manual methods to clear off unnecessary data off of your Mac that are safer and you have complete control over your Mac and not just leave a piece of auto cleaning software in charge of clearing off data off of your Mac.
Their potential of causing OS X issues outweighs the implied good and benefits these types of hard drive or memory "cleaning" apps are written to do.
Plus, the software company's that write these apps make it hard to easily uninstall these apps if something DOES go wrong and these apps work in a way where you have no recovery or revert function to return your Mac back to its former, working state in the event something does go wrong.
It is best to never download and install these types of apps.
The risk to your system and data is too great a risk!
What year, screen size, CPU speed and amount of RAM installed?
What version of OS X is your Mac running?
To find out info about your system,
click on the Apple symbol in the upper left of the OS X main menu bar. A drop down menu appears.
Click About this Mac. A smaller popup window appears. This gives you basic info like what version of OS X your iMac is running, the speed of your iMac's CPU and how much RAM is installed.
Click on the button that says More Info. A larger window appears giving you a complete overview of your iMac's hardware specs.
Highlight all of this info and copy/paste all of this into another reply to this post, editing out your iMac's serial number before actually posting the reply.
This will tell us everything about your iMac so we may begin to help with your iMac issues.
How full is your Mac's hard drive?
Locate your iMac's hard drive icon on the OS X desktop. Click the icon once, then use the keyboard key combination Command-I. This will give you additonal info about your iMac's internal hard drive.
Copy/paste this info, also, into your reply.
Do you run any antivirus software on your Mac? Antivirus software can slow down the normal operation of OS X and cause negative and adverse effects to system performance.
If you choose, Please download, install and run Etrecheck.
Etrecheck was developed as a simple Mac diagnostic reporting tool by a regular Apple Support forum user and technical support contributor named Etresoft.
Etrecheck is a small, unobstrusive app that compiles a static snapshot of your entire Mac hardware system and installed software.
This is a free app that has been honestly created to provided help in diagnosing issues with Macs running the new OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
It is not malware and can be safely downloaded and installed onto your Mac.

Copy/paste and post its report here in another reply thread so that we have a complete profile of your Mac's hardware and installed software so we can all help with your Mac performance issues.

Leave it in the rice for at least a day and change the rice every other day or so. The rice and iPod should be in a sealed container.

  • Is there any hope for a Nano 6th gen that went through the washing machine?

Is there any hope for a Nano 6th Gen that went through the washing machine?  All of the devices contents are showing up in iTunes when connected but the device itself is not working.

    Hello kpratta,
There is some hope. I have heard of someone putting the ipod in a bag of dry rice and putting the bag in a dark place for a 4-5 days. After that they used this:
    www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
This has the best chance. The rice absorbs any liquid in the ipod.
    Hope this helps.

  • Desperate to recover photos from an iPhone5 that has been through the washing machine

My iPhone5 has gone through the washing machine and I am desperate to recover my photos. Am I better off leaving it in rice for a week and trying it, or immediately taking it to my service provider to try and get it repaired?

Thanks for your responses. It wasn’t in a waterproof case, just a rubber one. I have insurance, so I am not concerned about my handset, just the photos. It is currently sitting in a container of rice, and I was thinking about taking it apart and putting it back in the rice opened up to try and better dry it out? Then I was thinking of leaving it for a few days and eventually connecting it to my Mac to power it up and hopefully quickly access my photos - what do you think? I am just concerned if I take it straight to my service provider before at least trying this, the data is as good as gone - going off all of the insurance claim disclaimers regarding loss of data during repair!
    Thanks in advance!

  • IPhone + Washing Machine = constant reboot??

    Hey Guys,
As the title suggests, my iphone had a run in with the washing machine last week... it was in there for 10 or so minutes before i noticed and retrieved it... i dried it using the rice + blow dryer method for 4-5 days and then tried turning it on... much to my surprise and pleasure the oh so familiar apple logo appeared. Unfortunately it didn't go away, and then the little cog wheel started spinning and eventually the iphone turned off, but then instantly turned back on again... this goes on for as long as its got power... each incident is of different times (ie, could be 2-10-30 mins before rebooting). i tried restoring it, twice, but both times, after its rebooting to finish, the cycle starts over again. the first time it was very difficult to get itunes to recognising it, the second, i put it into DFU mode and itunes did its usual thing - mind you the screen was blank while in DFU, but did show the usual restore things.
    Any ideas??
I may be going out on a limb here =P but im assuming that 'water damage' isn't covered in the standard warranty. And if so, what are my options if the iphone is dead, considering im not likely going to fork out AU$800 for a new one to replace it.
I live in Australia and on an Optus 24 month plan with about 19 months left (if that makes any difference.)
    Please Help,
    And thanks in advance,
    Farley

    Thanks for your help...
I Sent it off to Apple for 'repair' using the OOW service you mentioned. Still waiting for it to be returned/replaced however i would just like to point out how efficient and easy it was with them. Just called up and within minutes i was ready to send it off for 'identification of problem'.
If anyone happens to fall into a similar situation (and i hope that you don't) its worth considering when all else fails. Compared with the price of a new iphone, this isn't too much to ask for to bring your 'baby' (sorry, i count help myself) back to life.

  • Is theree anything i can do for my daughter ipod touch, it got washed in the washing machine. she has had it for less than 1 year

Hi, can I get an ipod touch fixed after it was washed in the washing machine?

You might want to check your household contents insurance as well, as this might cover accidental damage, even if the credit cards don't.
Also, if there were purchased items on the iPod, many policies now cover downloaded content as well (up to a limit of course).

  • Nano won't play using the battery, but ok on external power.  Got washed in the washing machine.

I washed my nano with my jeans in the washing machine.  It still works when I use external power, but not on the battery.  I've charaged it, but it doesn't hold the charge.   Sugggestions?

The battery is dead, permanantly pretty much.
I had this happen to an old nano, 2nd gen or 3rd i forgot which it was.
Anyway i went in a lake with it, after that it would no longer work on the battery, but would with external power.
I spent a good while looking for a solution but couldn't find a fix or any suggestions other than replacing the ipod battery, or the ipod itself.
I did keep it though and just kept it on a ipod player speaker device though. Maybe now theres a trick to fix it or something but i highly doubt it.

  • Labview washing machine simulator help

Hi, i'm making a washing machine simulator (a really simple one) basically depending on the load size (big or small or medium) the front panel will display how many gallons of water used as well as the water temperature depending on the load type (delicates, whites, colors).  Additionally here is a timer that runs for a certain amount of time depending on the load size, once the wash cycle is completed, the dry cycle begins.  I have completed the code but it's not working and i don't understand why, the VI shows no errors and i can't see the problem.  I am fairly new at labview, please help

yes, follow what she had suggested....the secret behind door number 2 is...think about how to pull info from the arrays using your front panel controls to feed the elapsed timer and indicators

  • Ipod nano in a washing machine

is there any hope for a 6th generation nano that went through the wash machine??

Oh boy. Check this article (check the rice method, i've heard it works [sometimes]) for help! If doesn't work, then try rapping the ipod in a towel and letting it set in sun all day!

  • My Iphone 4 has been put in the washing machine by accident - help!

My Iphone 4 has been put in the washing machine by accident - is there any way it can be saved!!

Most likely it has suffered hardware damage in which case you'll need to take or send to Apple and pay for replacement, either under your AppleCare+ plan if you purchased the plan or by paying Apple's standard out-of-warranty replacement charge:

  • Worst customer service for delivery of washing machine

We ordered a washing machine online on Sunday that was to be delivered today (Tuesday). when the delivery guys showed up they said they could not install our new washer because we didn't buy a new pedestal.  THey would not put on our existing pedastal because they were a "contractor" of Best Buy, but they said to call a store and schedule a service technician to come out to install it for us and assured us that would work.  My wife spent 2 hours on the phone with various team members of Geek Squad and then I took over as they needed to talk to the "purchaser."  I was on the phone with them for another hour and after a lot of back and forth I finally got a Geek Squad 4th level support person (Tony P)  that said he talked to the warehouse and that if I called back after 4 or 5 p.m. that they would schedule someone to come out.  I called back at that time and I was transferred to the warehouse.  The gentleman I talked to at the warehouse said there was no way that anyone would come out. I told him that I am getting the run around and I am not satisfied and someone needs to get this elevated.  He was very rude and did nothing...I called back to the Geek Squad line to try and reach Tony P, but he was gone for the day so someone else started to help me....she called the warehouse and the warehouse personnel were rude to her too.  she was going to file an internal complaint.  I apologize for the long message, but we are most likely going to return the washing machine and not buy anything from Best Buy again.

    Hello mdog,
I apologize for the apparent tardiness of my reply. We do our best to address our customers' concerns as promptly as possible and in the order in which they are received.
I was disheartened to read about your washer delivery experience. and your subsequent numerous attempts to have your installation completed. In similar circumstances, I know that that I would be very aggravated as well. Were you given an explanation by the warehouse staff or the delivery team as to why your new washer could not be placed on the existing pedestal?
While I understand why you might have chosen to do so, I was very dismayed to read that you have elected to make your purchase through a competitor and return the washer you've already received. It is my hope that you will one day give Best Buy another chance to win you over.
Please know that I'm very grateful that you took the time to share your concerns with us.
    Sincerely,

  • Yesterday i accidenttly Washed my ipod touch in the washing machine!!! What do i do??

Yesterday, i accidently washed my iPod touch in the washing machine!!! help me!!

Do not turn on or charge until it is dry. To dry place the iPod in a sealed container with a desiccant (uncooked rice works) for a week and change it daily.  The try:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
It may or may not work OK afterwards.

  • What do I do when my ipod goes through the washing machine?

my ipod shuffle went through the washing machine, earbuds and all.Can someone tell me how to properly dry it out or care for it?

When electronics get emersed in liquid, it's not the actual water that causes them to break (although if you spilled something like coke with a bunch of sugar, the sugar would stay in the device even after the liquid of the coke dissolved). What breaks the device is if either it was on when it was emersed in water, or if you turn it on before all the water can evaporate. If so, the water will conduct the electricity between the wires and short circuit the device. If you weren't thick enough to try and turn your device on immediately after you took it out of the washing machine, then it should be fine if you just let the water evaporate. Another technique (to make the water evaporate faster and, on rare occassions, to save a device if you've turned if on while there was still water in it) is to put the device in rice and let it sit overnight. Hope this helps.
