Won't start up, just beeps

So out of nowhere, my macbook decided to turn off, and now when I try to turn it on, it just beeps at me. At first it would just beep once every 5 or 10 second, but after I removed the battery and then tried it again, it beeps three times in a row every 5 or 10 seconds. I've tried rebooting the RAM (CommandOption+PR), but that did nothing. I can't find anything on the website as to what the beeping means. Thoughts?

Have you recently upgraded the amount of RAM in your MacBook ???
The 3 beeps are indicative of a RAM issue..

  • It's died! Complete crashed and won't start up, just beeps at me :(

I'm gutted my Macbook Pro has died on me!
I changed the hard disk last night to a 500GB disk, installed OS X, restored from a Time Machine backup. Left it running overnight doing it's thing.
Checked my mail this morning, put it to sleep, got on the train, start watching a video for may be 2 minutes and then it crashed with the screen displaying garbage.
If I try and start it up it beeps every other second or so with the power light flashing.
I can get it to start up if I hold down the power until it does a firmware reset but then it will start, load OS X and crash again.
Took it to an Apple registered store and they tried Netbooting it with no luck.
I've tried running the Apple Hardware Test but that crashes too.
I've been told it could be the logic board but I should put the original hard disk back in to check that first.
Any other solutions before it gets sent back?
I would say it was my fault for changing the disk except this happened once before randomly when I first bought and hadn't changed anything.
Fixed then by doing a PRAM reset but no such luck this time. It's ******!!!

Maybe a long shot, but beeps and flashing lights often indicate RAM problems. Have you tried reseating the RAM?
One thing you could try is to put your old HD in an enclosure and see if it would boot from that. But if it won't boot and run the AHT, I don't expect it would boot successfully from the external.
Something else to consider if whether any cables or connectors might have been bumped or dislodged while doing the hard drive replacement. A loose connection can cause all kinds of problems. You might want to try looking for anything like that.
    Good luck!

    Hi Csound1,
I haven't added any RAM my daughter was using the computer then it hung so powered it down then the beeping started. Do you know if there is a combination of buttons I can press when powering up that will put me in some kind of  safe mode so that I can find out what's up, I tried pressing D when the beeping started but it didn't make a difference.

Ok so I updated to iOS 7 on my iPod (5th) it let me update my apps but I cannot download new apps thanks to the terms and conditions. Also my iTunes won't start it just blank, I tried everything I need help

Did you download the new iTunes update that was also released this afternoon? That might be the problem. The new iTunes update came out today as well as the new iOS 7 update and if you haven't downloaded the new iTunes update it may be a compatibility problem so if you didn't, first update to the new iTunes and try again.

    If it's 3 beeps that's usually a RAM problem.

Refurbished iPod touch 3rd gen won't start.  Just got it today to replace my broken one. It freezes at the screen with the apple logo, then flashes off and tries to restart again. Help!

I have tried holding the power home button but all that does is turn it off. When I try to start it again it goes into the same loop.

  • Mac Mini won't boot it just beeps once

I have a MacMini 1.25 GHZ. When I try to start it, it just beeps loudly once and thats it. Nothing appears on the screen.
Before, this computer just showed a folder with a question mark. I tried resetting the PRAM and other normal procedures and nothing seemed to work. I thought the optical drive might have been the problem because this started happening shortly after inserting a CD.
So I opened it up and took out the CD and now I have the current problem.
    Can anyone help?
P.S. After beeping, if i press and hold any key the little light on the bottom right flashes brighter three times.

Repair the directory and see if it boots then. Follow my directions below*:
