Word 2010 to pdf in Acrobat X under Win 7 64: numbers and letters added to bookmarks

In some documents I convert, the bookmarks are prefixed with what appear to be 'internal' codes like 99B; in others -- based on the same template, and with the same formatting -- the bookmarks are created appropriately. It's clearly a Word 2010/Acrobat X interaction, but I cannot pin down the source of the problem. I've copy/pasted text from an offending .doc file into a fresh file, based on a different template, without success. Any advice will be gratefully received.
Thank you,
JGH

There is nothing to activate the AcroTray.

  • Word 2010x64 to PDF using Acrobat Pro XI: Print shows box with ? inside.

    System: Windows 7 SP1 X64
    Adobe: Acrobat XI Pro
    Office: Office 2010 x64
On multiple systems, I creating a document with standard text and font and then saved as or printed as a PDF. This creates a normal PDF with no visable issues. Problem arrises when printing the newly created PDF. All PDFs converted from Word print with question marks inside squares. There is no symbols evident on the Word document, created PDF or in print preview. All formatting Markups have been disabled in Word as well. Any ideas as to a work around or fix? See below images for example.

We are having exactly the same issue as described above.
    Did this ever get answered?
    We are using:
    Acrobat 11.0.3
    Word 2010 (V 14.0.7015.1000 32-bit)
MS Office Home and Business 2010 SP2
    Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit
The problem seems to occur only when, in Word, we use File - Print - Printer Adobe PDF, email the resulting PDF file to another office, and then printout on a Toshiba Studio 2330c printer.
If we print the file locally to a Toshiba Studio 2550c printer then it prints ok.
It also prints ok if we, in Word we use the Acrobat tab, click Create PDF, email the resulting PDF file to another office, and then printout on the same Toshiba Studio 2330c printer.
    Any ideas?

  • I converted a 253 page document from Word 2010 to pdf using Adobe Professional 8.  The pdf fike only had 251 pages.  Why?

I converted a 253 page document from Word 2010 to pdf using Adobe Professional 8.  The pdf fike only had 251 pages.  Why?

Word documents don't have a fixed page layout; Word reflows freely if it wants. This isn't normally a problem unless things like typing page numbers is done; avoid that.

  • Acrobat XI hyperlink does not work when printing Office Word 2010 to PDF

    Hello,
I have word documents where I have added http hyperlinks.  The links function fine in the Word doc.  When I print the document to an Adobe PDF using Acrobat XI the resulting PDF file has the blue text which indicates it is a hyperlink but there is no link whe I hover over the text.  How do print Office 2010 documents to Adobe PDF and preserve the hyperlinks?

The trick is not to print it but to use the PDF Maker plugin, if it's
available, to convert the file to a PDF while maintaining links and other
    meta-objects (bookmarks, destinations, etc.).

  • Acrobat X Pro - Word 2010 to pdf files

I just bought AcrobatX to create high quality pdf files from Word2010 files in WIndows 7.
Unfortunately when I do create them from inside Word using the Acrobat tab, the program crashes!
However, if I print the same files using  the  Adobe printer, the pdf files are generated. I do not know, however, if the output quality is the same (I select the "press quality" job option).
Could anyone please clarify this issue? I did buy this software just to obtain pdf files with the highest quality possible (press quality) but it seems it is not what I got.
    Thanks
    Edmundo

    Hi,
Thanks again! I have just done what you suggested - no way! Even with everything off, it crahes!
I will follow your advise  of printing using the Acrobat printer. Yet I face now a new problem!! Some of the figures doesnot show up at all!
    >>>you could post it here for us to take a look
Please download an example of a Word (2010) file that crashes from here:
    https://www.yousendit.com/download/cEd0ckhhV3JCSnBFQlE9PQ
In the zip it is also a pdf created by using the Adobe printer. Please take a look at Fig-4-2. It is of bad quality! Any suggestions to improve it? I got just a few (out o a few hundreds)  that bad!.
I insert figures (made by CorelDraw and exported as WMF) in Word as Insert, Pictures.
MANY THANKS for you valuable help

  • Acrobat Pro XI V11.0.2 - Word 2010 to PDF conversion fails to generate header text

    Hello,
Following the recent update to V11.0.2, the Acrobat PDF converter for Word 2010 fails to generate the output document correctly. It misses out the text box part of the Word header.
However, using Acrobat XI via the "Print to PDF printer" appears to generate the output file correctly.
System is Windows XP-SP3 with Office 2010 (and all current updates), plus Acrobat Pro V11.0.2
Example Word source and resulting PDF are available, if anyone can figure out how to use this web interface to post examples.
    Colin Butcher.

    Hello,
No, there is no change in behaviour on my Windows XP machines, nor would I expect there to be given that there has been no change until V11.0.3 was released.
Given that you’ve reproduced the problem, albeit on a different machine, it seems reasonable to assume that the problem is related to Acrobat. If you can reproduce the behaviour, then you should be able to fix it.
The problem still exists with V11.0.3. I look forward to it being resolved shortly.
    Colin.

  • Image not printing from Word 2010 to .pdf

I have been successfully printing Word docs that contain my letterhead logo to .pdfs for a long time.  But right after I installed both Word 2010 and Acrobat Professional 9.4.1, the logo would get cut off when printing.
I tried a lot of different settings, but just found that if instead of using the .pdf printer I simply "save as" the file as a .pdf, the entire logo prints fine.
I just wanted to share this workaround solution in case others run into this problem.  Meanwhile, does anyone know why this might be happening?

  • Conversion of Microsoft Word 2010 to PDF-Links not working in the PDF

I have a Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit Operating System and Microsoft Word 2010. There is a particular word document(Word 2010) that I need to convert to PDF.I did a "save as" and stored it as a PDF. But the issue in the PDF is that the links in the "Table of Contents" do NOT work. I am using Adobe Reader 10.1.2.Please let me know how could I do the conversion and how can the links work correctly

Adobe Reader 10.1.2 cannot convert DOC files to PDFs. You will need Adobe Acrobat to do this.
Save As > Adobe PDF feature is using Microsoft's PDF converter. You may need to follow up with them regarding the same.

  • Windows 7 Word 2010 with EPS A4 Acrobat X Pro Paper Size Issue

I'm running into the following issue trying to create a PDF.
Word 2010 A4 page size. Document has some Illustrator EPS images used in it.
When I go to make the PDF using Acrobat from the top menu and then Create PDF, the page size of the PDF is A4, but the color is the low res bit map preview look. Not acceptable color, all colors converted to CMYK, but the EPS files have incorrect color values.
When I use File Print Acrobat PDF, the color is correct, but it reduces the pages to 8-1/2 x 11. Every setting I can find is calling for a A4 page size. This way the colors are left as the original files CMYK + Pantone colors.
I spent 2-1/2 hours with Adobe on this and they had no solution.
We have tried different Default Settings and no difference.
The Adobe PDF Page Size: is A4.
If we make the page size A3 then it generates a A3 size PDF.
When I was running XP with Word 2003 and Acrobat 9 Pro I didn't run in to this problem.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

I can't get my Word 2010 document to convert to pdf. I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9

  • Does Word 2010 work with Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard?

I've been using Windows XP and MS Office 2003. It's essential for me to use MS Word for my work. I also sometimes need to create PDFs from my Word documents. I bought Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard earlier this year.
I now find (to keep up to date and on good terms with my clients) that I need to upgrade to a newer version of Word. If I keep Windows XP but upgrade to MS Office/Word 2010, will my Ad Ac 6.0 work okay? I've been told there are some conflicts between some versions of Ad Ac and MS and I'm confused about it.
    Thank you.

MS Office 2010 has already been out for several months, so I will presume that Adobe has that version to test while programming Acrobat X
If you need the functions, buy X when it is available
If you do have problems, you will be able to come back here and ask questions

  • Word 2010 to PDF hyperlink opens browser for local file...

Recently upgraded to Office 2010.  I used the Save As .pdf option in Word 2010 for a file that contains a hyperlink to a local pdf file. When I open the saved pdf file with Acrobat Reader and click on the link, my default browser starts up to display the local file. I have tried using different versions of Acrobat Reader, different operating systems, and all kinds of options, but can't figure out why this is happening. I think it's a bug in Word 2010, but can't find any information about this on the web.
    Does anyone have any clues?

OK, replying to my own post, I did just find a Workaround
that's only a few extra steps.....
After all edits and changes were completed in the Word file, I printed to PDF from Word,
creating a Rev A file. Once that was done and a new pdf was created, I opened the
Original File and selected "Combine" from the "File" pull down menu.
With both of the files in the same PDF document, I deleted all the pages from the
Original file. Page one of the Rev A file is now p. 1 of the "combined" file,
and all the PDF bookmarks (still there from the Original File) line up in the right
sequence. The bookmarks (produced by "Saving to PDF" with Headings 1 and 2,
when the original PDF was made) need to be re-linked to the pages in the Rev A
file, but that's quicker than starting from scratch.
Not really very elegant, but it worked. I'd be curious to know what's wrong with the
PDF files saved with bookmarks in WORD, because that happens EVERY time.
I have Acrobat Pro Extended, iteration 9.5.1

  • Links breaking when converting from word docs to PDFs in Acrobat X Pro

I have experienced this same problem when trying to convert word documents to PDFs in Preview:
For hyperlinks that are active in MS Word (2011 version for Mac), but take up more than one line (they include a line break), the same links in the converted PDFs will only recognize the first line of text in the hyperlink (the hyperlinks in the docs I need to convert are the full URLs that are also hyperlinks to the same URL). As a result these links open a URL that is shortened and doesn't exist.
Is this a common problem, and is there a way have the full links be recognized automatically when converting to PDFs?
I have been able to get around this so far by creating the "invisible rectangle" links in Acrobat behind where the full link should be, but it is painstaking for large docs with many links.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Tim

    Afraid not
This is an Old Problem that has been banted about since Acrobat has existed. We have two companies that are blaming each other for the Problem Adobe and Microsoft. Instead of Blaming each other Adobe needs to get their head  out of their back side and fix the problem. I mean 15 years is enough to do blaming.
You can take the same PDF's with links created Mac Office  Document and open in Office for PC and create  the PDF and it works in Acrobat. Or you can create the PDF in MacOffice and open in Acrobat PC and it works. So the problem is squarely with Acrobat. But they refuse to fix it.
You might download and try PDFPen Pro and see if  can create working Links in it. or a Utility called CUPS-PDF. CUPS-PDF installs a Print Driver Much Like Acrobat Use to.
You go to it to create the PDF. It is sent to a special folder. and the PDF are named with number appended to begining (example: Job_1TheMoon.docx.pdf).  Rename as desired and open may have links.

  • Word 2010 trying to contact a wrong server on open/close/save and print actions

    Hello.
I'm faced with the Problem that on 1 out of 20 pcs in a department, Word 2010 is extremely slow on open/close/save and print actions.
I know that Word try’s to connect to a server, the Problem is, the server isn't there anymore. (Old Fileserver)
I've already checked the default paths in Word, and they are all pointing correctly to the local drive or the new network drive for the User.
I've also ruled out the files that were opened since they work fine on other PCs.
The system with the error is a WinXP PC with SP3 and Office 2010
It works fine on other WinXP systems with the same setting.
I also tried to reproduce the error on Windows 7 or 2008R2 Servers, but they’re also unaffected.
    Hopefully someone has an idea.
    Thanks in advance.
    With best regards
    Philipp

Yes, I've ruled them out since they were never hostet on the old Fileserver.
But I've finaly found the answer.
After trying the solution from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/280821 i've started to search the registry for references to oure old fileserver and struck gold.
Under HKEY_Current_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word\Options\ was the REG_EXPAND_SZ Key DOC-PATH with the reference to the old fileserver.
After replacing it with the same directorybut on the new fileserver, everything is as fast as it shuld be.
    Thanks for the help.
