0.5 amps USB 2 or 5 amps USB 3

can i use a USB 3.0 what ever amps charger and will this kill the battery life over time?
So i want to buy a power adapter for it, what are the specs i should look for to not hurt the battery?
Thank you...

The amp on a charger tells you how much power it can deliver. How much power that's actually used depends on the connected device. What's important to check is the voltage which should be 5.0V.
But please note that we can't guarantee compatibility with or functionality of 3:rd party products.

If you want to listen to the sounds of your drum set, you should use an audio cable and connect it to the computer's line-in, then create a real instrument track.
If you use a Midi/USB interface, you'll have to create a software instrument track and select one of GB's drumsets as the instrument. Hopefully your drumset's midi notes are mapped to the right sounds in GB.

  • USB to iPad, via Camera Cnctr e.g. Midi V-drum set, & Fender Mustang Amp

I've got the camera connector working with Roland V-Drum kit (TD4 Brain midi out), and also with a Fender Mustang Amp.
Drums: From brain (midi out) into M-Audio Uno (midi to usb), into iPad camera connector kit (usb to ipad) into iPad. Just open the drum set in iPad Garageband: kick, snare, crash, three toms, the bow and foot pedal on hat, and top of the ride all work perfectly, with dynamics according to how I'm playing my drum kit. The only limitations at this point: the hi hat rim/edge on my VH 11 hat makes no sound, (which affects playing style) and I am unable to trigger the bell sound while hitting my ride cymbal (Cy-8). (Might be able to adjust both of these through the Roland brain). In any case, it was plug and play: played and recorded a sweet groove very easily!
Keyboard: I expect that a midi keyboard, working through the uno to camera connector will work as well.
Guitar and Bass: Both of the following work: the Fender Mustang Amp, which has USB out, into the camera connector; and the iRig, through the audio input. I tried the Apogee Gio through the camera connector but that does not work ("requires too much power"). The new Apogee product in the ads is supposed to work nonetheless, and will go through the ipad connector rather than through the audio in.
In any case, I think we can now say it: The iPad is now a full blown 8 track recording studio, with midi capability. Way to go Apple!

    Hi guys
Sounds like things are looking promising for me (I hope)! I've just purchased the iPad 2 and have GB installed. I'm a muso (drummer) with a Roland TD9 kit, so I'm keen to record my drums into GB.
Reading this thread has inspired me to take the plunge and buy:
    - MIDI to USB cable
    - USB/SD card reader for iPad
I'm now hoping, once these arrive from shipping next week, that my prayers will be answered!
Any other experience or advice from others is appreciated. I'd also like to know about that hihat issue that someone was having with their TD4 rim triggering. I also just have the standard Roland hihat, so grateful for anyone's feedback on whether that's working for them??
    Thanks guys!

  • Can the usb sync/power cable that came with the iPhone 3g and 4 handle the 2.1 amps drawn by the ipad 2 (if used with the 10w plug) without risk of overheating?

I recently made the mistake of buying a cheap sync cable from a well known auction site becuase I wanted a longer cable than comes in the box for my ipad 2.
Whilst my iPad will sync OK, it takes an age to charge (using the standard 10w plug in the wall). I don't fully understand the science in the cables, but assume it is not a big enough cable to handle the current/2.1 amps?.
If like house wire you send too much current through a cable that is to small for the job it risks overheating and causing a fire.
Does this same principle apply to the iPad power lead?
Anyway back to the question, can I use other leads I have hanging around the house from my previous iphones and ipods to charge my ipad (again still using the 10w plug in the wall) or will the cable in these be too small to handle the 2.1 amps required by the ipad?
I don't want to risk overheating the cables and causing a short to break my beloved iPad 2...!

    Thanks for your replies.
Not sure they entirely answer my question though.
I have used my different cables and can see that they are actually working (charging and syncing etc), but am i using old cable that was not intended to draw 2.1 amps and so may overheat and cause damage in the long run?
Or did apple deliberately over engineer the original cables which were only needed to supply 1 amp and they can actually be used to draw 2.1 amps comfortably?
Whilst the 30 pin connectors and usb points are identical, is the internal cable thickness/awg gauge the same?
    Thanks

  • I just bought a new portable battery. It uses 2 USB ports to charge devices, a 1 amp port and a 2 amp port. My question is which port do I plug my iPhone 5s into and which do I use for my iPad 2?

It's a 10,000 mAh external battery. I got this for traveling and because I go to disneyland a lot. My phone wont last all day there and unlike some people, I would never plug my phone into their outlets (I watched a girls phone spark and practically melt once), their voltage is way too high. I have other batteries, but when I saw that this one can charge the 5s fully 3-5 times, I new it was a must. Online, there were wonderful reviews about it and that it charges the 5s and the iPad 2 wonderfully. However when I opened the package and read the directions it listed that there were 2 USB ports, a 1 amp and a 2 amp and to match your device to the port. Now it's been a while since I've studied about volts, amps, etc. so the first thing I do is google it. I know that the iPhone 5s uses 1 amp and the iPad 2 uses 2 amps, and from what I read, you can use the iPad charger to charge the iPhone (which I didn't know there were conflicts about this, I've always used my iPad charger for my phone). There are a lot of articles with people going back and forth about charging techniques, but I want to make sure I'm not going to damage any of my devices if I plug it into the wrong port.
Any responses will be appreciated as this isn't an area where I am very knowledgeable! Thank you!!!

The iPhone and iPad draw whatever charging current they require. The iPad draws more.

  • USB mic or buy amp or mixer

Forgot to say earlier, would buying a usb mic and putting it into computer instead of using my old one [and buying an amp or mixer ]give me a decent clear volume in my vocals. Just trying to find the simplest least expensive yet effective way. Thanks again

"A USB mic" is a very broad range of possibilities. It ranges from "amateur sound almost like through a telephone" (the ones that come for 20 $) to "almost professional condenser mic" (Samson, Snowball, 80 $ and up). Since you say "vocal", I am assuming you want to sing - so no way with the cheapo mics.

  • HT2508 My amp has an USB input but when I attach my mac pro to it, and set the input to the USB setting, no sound comes out. I looked at the system settings, but none of them produce a different outcome. How can I send the music through the USB out to USB

My amp has an USB input but when I attach my mac pro to it, and set the input to the USB setting, no sound comes out. I looked at the system settings, but none of them produce a different outcome. How can I send the music through the USB out to USB in?

AFAIK cameras offer their own built-in format utility for inserted SD cards.  You should use that.  Otherwise, refer to the manual that came with your camera to determine precisely how your SD cards need to be formatted to work properly.  Personally, I'd suggest Partition Scheme: MBR, and Filesystem: FAT32.
Try to limit the number of formats you perform on the SD cards, though, as you're reducing their lifespan.  I believe formatting causes re-writes to a portion of the SD card that has fewer read/write cycles than the rest of the card as a whole.

  • Macbook Pro does NOT recognize Mic or Xlr-Usb Amp! WHY?

I recently bought an icicle (xlr to usb amp) for my blue spark condenser mic. it clearly states that it is compatible with OSX but it seems my macbook pro contradicts. the mac doesnt recognize the device at all,  while in a PC the device is recognized but it reads 'unknown device'. NEED SOLUTIONS.

I apologize.....Yes it was iPhoto that opened it. As soon as you said "Finder" I grew a brain and opened the device with Finder. Still kinda new to Mac's. Do you know why it does not show up on my desktop like my desktop did?
Go to Finder>Preferences>General and make sure that all four items are checked.  It's considered an external disk.  It should show up then.

  • Problem recording guitar through Black star Id USB amp.

Through changing the sample rate through windows control panel to 48000 i got audition to register in the real time indicator a response from my amp, however when i press record these registered sounds are not recorded. Any advice?
    Cheers.

I had your problem and I resolved it! i have my mic and guitars plugged into my Eurorack UB1202 analog mixer which outputs to my MacBook Pro via Bheringer UCA222 audio interface then back to my mixer and to my headphones/speakers. i noticed a white noise last night while i was working and all I did to fix it was unplug the audio interface from the outside usb hub (closest to the screen) and plugged it into my middle hub. the noise has now stopped and its crystal clear.
TL;DR try plugging your audio interface into different usb hubs. it worked for me. hope that helps!

  • Usb 3 power amps

    I have an envy 14 smart touch slim. It has 3 USB ports. 1 - usb 2, 1 -usb 3 with power, 1 - usb 3.
My question is for advice. Have an envy 14 touch smart.
First, how many amps does the powered usb 3 supply? I ask because I have powered usb 3 hub. Should I plug it into the powered USB port and leave the hub unplugged. Or should I plug the hub into the non-powered USB port and plug the hub into the wall. I have two external hard drives and a DVD player that I want to plug into the hub. They all get power from the usb connection.

    Hi,
No, this won't work. The power port ONLY for you to charge some devices such as phones, small tablets ... when the machine off. You need power brick (or adapter) for the hub. You still can use it like any normal USB port.
    Regards.

  • Trying to Hookup Yamaha THR10 USB guitar amp to Garageband.

Hi !! I'm trying to hook-up a Yamaha THR10 Usb guitar amp to Garageband.
The only way to get sound, unless recording, is to put the "Input" as Electric Guitar.
I'd rather not use this as the signal then goes through a simulated Mac amp.
If I use a "Real Intstument" Input I can only hear the sound after recording not during recording.
Thank You for your help !!!

  • Usb port available amp

I have an HP Envy m6-k025dx. What is the avail amps from each USB port, 2.0, 3.0, and the charging 3.0?
Does the same DC power supply power all three ports?
I am asking because I have an Un-powered port expander . ON my previous HP laptop the USB port's power was blown because I had too many things plugged in, ( from 2005)
I could not find any USB power avail amp specs in the user manual.
    Thank You

When booted in 10.4.x launch Activity Monitor and see if anything "Epson" related, is in the list. (Applications-Utilities folder)
BTW- Command-1 (one) will Show Activity Monitor as a Text-List view or just go to the Monitors Menu and click on it.
If there is a Epson(process?).app running it may have the printer already tied up and may not let Chooser stake a claim to it because it sees the USB port busy. It may work after you quit or force quit anything related to your printer.
Don't forget that the printer may need a 30 second power off / reset anytime there some print bug. This is the most common issue with printers.

  • Can I charge my iphone 5 and iPad with a USB 3.1 amp charger?

I recently purchased a 120 volt duplex outlet that has a 2 port USB 3.1 amp charger built into it from my local electrical supply store. They said it would charge my iPhone 5 and iPad. Will 3.1 amps be ok to charge these devices or will it damage them.

It will be OK. The charger is actually in the phone, and it regulates the charging current regardless of the actual available current from the USB source.

  • Will it work with R500? Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-300N 600mW USB Adapter.

Hi all, new to this site and also to owning a laptop. Bought what I believe to be 2009 Thinkpad R500. It works well with windows 7 installed. I bought it  so that I could stream music in my shop connected to my stereo. I sometimes think I should have maybe save up a little more and bought a new laptop. Paid $200 for it. Anyway I was wondering if anyone could tell if the item below will work with my laptop? My thoughts are to some time in the near future to also install an outdoor wifi antenna on my house. One thing I did notice in my shop which confused me a little was when I had my laptop and my wife's laptop down in my shop, her signal strength was around 20 mbps and mine only showed 13 mbps. Any ideas to why?
Add Long Range Wi-Fi to your Computer: Whether you're using a Mac or Windows laptop or desktop PC, the UA600 attaches to an available USB port (2 USB ports for maximum performance) on your computer and provides long range Wi-Fi connectivity for connecting to your home Wi-Fi network or a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Maximum Wi-Fi Range: The internal High Power 600mW Amplifier (12x the power of standard adapters) is optimally paired with a High Power 5dBi Wi-Fi antenna to provide maximum wireless range and performance.
Simple Setup: Setup is quick and simple: Insert the installation CD, install the software and plug in the High Power USB Adapter.
Great for Power Users: The High Power USB Adapter is designed for Wi-Fi users that demand the most from their Wi-Fi networks. The UA600 features wireless data reception speeds of up to 300Mbps for streaming video, transferring large data files and other high traffic Wi-Fi activities.
Upgradable Antenna for More Wi-Fi Range: The High Power USB Adapter features a detachable antenna that can be replaced with an indoor or outdoor high gain antenna for even more Wi-Fi range or for special installation applications.
Universal Compatibility: The High Power USB Adapter works great with all 2.4GHz 802.11b/g or n wireless routers, Wi-Fi networks and manufacturers.

Your machine as it left the factory:
    P8600(2.4GHz), 2GB RAM, 160GB 5400rpm HD, 15.4in 1280x800 LCD, Intel 4500MHD, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn wireless, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint Reader, 6c Li-Ion, WinXP Pro
I'm going to take a stab in the dak that the card is Intel 5100AGN, which *should* support both bands. That's what my own R500 came with.
Depending on the amount of $$ that you want to spend on a router, there are many possible options. I'd suggest checking out the recommendations from various broadband forums.
    Good luck.
    Cheers,
    George

  • Do I need a headphone amp or is MacBook pro amp good enough

Is the audio amp in the MacBook Pro 13 Retina (2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz8GB 1600MHz memory128GB PCIe-based flash storage) Powerful enough to get a good result with my Sennheiser HD 600 Headphones

Not sure I've got your exact model specs but in general.
According to this the output of the headphone driver is:s
    Sound Card Specs
"Maximum output voltage: 2 VRMS (+8.24 dBu)
    Output impedance: < 24 Ω"
Your Sennheisers have an impedance of 300 Ω which will be a terrible mismatch. You will not be happy. Volume will be quite low.

"For your application I think the Sennheiser HD 25-1 II would be the best bet as they are low impedance and *very* efficient (120dB).
If you want something like the HD 600 I would use a small USB headphone amp. like the CEntrance DACport - though there others at various prices"
