10.2.0.3 driver. Maximum limit of parameters in a stored procedure

What is the Maximum limit of parameters that can be passed to a stored procedure via ODBC? We got a function that was executed successfully by the 9i driver with 272 parameters. The same function fails when executed with 10.2.0.3 driver with ORA-06513 error. We then tried reducing the parameters and found that the driver would allow a maximum of 253 parameters. Any ideas or thoughts on this is much appreciated.

Update for future reference:
Finally got a metalink account and ran with the latest instantclient patch. This seemed to stop the heap corruption problem.

  • Maximum number of parameters sent to stored procedure

I have a web form from where I insert data to Oracle. There are at least 20 fileds on the form. For INSERT I want to use Stored Procedure. But in this case for VALUES section of the INSERT statement I need to send that many- in this case 20 parameters. Is this normal for a procedure to receive 20 parameters? If it's not, then what way should I follow to perform this? I know technically there's no problem but is this normal programming or database managementwise? I think this is the basic thing all web developer do all the time.

He's got 20 fields on a web form and you think using SQL*Loader is a good idea ?because I do not believe that he has to enter these fields once time.
You want him to write the values to a flat file, generate a control file, then invoke SQL*Loader ?I know that the first time you create all those files can be a problem, but when you have all , the next times its just change the information into flat file.
Did you read the question ?Yes, i did
It's only my opinion, He can accept it or not.
any other question not related to help him to solve his problem?

  • Amount of data has exceeded maximum limit - Infopath form

Hello, I am having a problem on O365 concerning an Infopath form.
The warning goes like this : " The amount of data that was returned by a data connection has exceeded the maximum limit that was configured by the server administrator"
Solutions exist for other version of Sharepoint/Infopath. I see in SharePoint 2013, this value is 1500 kilobytes by default
and we can increase the maximum size of that. However, in SharePoint Online, it cannot be changed.
    Can you guys please help?
    Thanking you in advance.
    Regards,
    Nite

    Hi Nite,
You should ask this question in the Office365 forums:
    http://community.office365.com/
But as this question has been asked before, it is not possible to change the limit in O365. Please see this thread:

  • Maximum limit of characters in the "IN" caluse

    Hi,
Could any one please tell me what is the maximum limit of characters I can use in the “IN” clause?
I am getting the error when executing the query by using more than 1000 items ids in "IN" clause:
"SELECT * from test where item_id IN ('4a00dec880003900', '4a00dec88000259a','4a00dec88000259a','4a00dec880000518’, ............................., up to more than 1000 item ids)”
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ashok

You are limited to 1000 elements. There is no character limit, other than the one imposed by the limit on the number of elements.
If you have more than a couple dozen elements, I would generally suggest throwing them in a table and doing
WHERE item_id IN (SELECT item_id FROM <<new table>>)which can have an unlimited number of elements.
Additionally, note that when you start having a large number of elements, you are often better served using an EXISTS clause rather than an IN clause.

  • Unable to type the maximum limit in scientific notation in a plot

    Hi,
I am trying to plot some data that I measured in scientific notation (2E-19, etc) and I have tried everything to manually set the maximum/minimum limits of my plot in either axis without success. I have typed 2E-19 and even the number will all the preceding zeros, but I keep getting a "0" in the field. Does anyone know how to do this?
    Thank you!

Thanks for the reply. Here is an example. I need to set the maximum limit of the y axis to 4E-19 (box highlighted in blue in the format bar of the screen shot)

  • S20 Hard drive - maximum size?

Hi Folks - I'd like to fit 2x 2TB drives in my S20, but our IT procurement department says the computer will only support 1TB drives maximum. Is this right?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    2TB drives are supported.
Are you using any sort of RAID with the 2x2TB config?  There's a limitation (BIOS) that the bootable partition size can't go above 2.2TB.  So 2x2TB would be OK with a mirrored RAID1 config, but not OK with a striped RAID0 config.  This only applies to the bootable partition so if you're strictly doing a data RAID, you would be OK with either.

  • Is there a hard drive size limit for G5 imacs?

I recently added a 1.5 TB firewire drive to my father's iMac. Since then the system has been hanging frequently and I have not been able to restart the machine remotely using either Timbuktu or ssh sudo reboot.
Is this drive too big for leopard to handle on the G5?

    No.

  • Is there a hard drive size limit  that can be hooked to the airport extreme

I am trying to connect a 2TB HDD to my Airport Extreme but it doesn't see it. It is a Mac formatted drive I have been using as my backup drive but want to put it on the Airport Extreme to share some other stuff that's on it. When I hook in a 500GB drive it works just fine.
There are no windows machines (god forbid) that will share it, all Mac.
    Thanks!

    No.

  • Maximum Number of Parameters

    Hi,
Is there any limit for the maximum number of Parameters i can pass to a procedure or function.
    Thank you for the help.

There is a physical limit of 64k (65536) parameters which is based on limits imposed by PL/SQLs intermediate parsed form, DIANA. See
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14117_01/appdev.101/b10807/e_limits.htm#LNPLS018
However passing more than a handful is often considered a 'bad practice' - in such cases you might consider alternatives such as aggregating variables into composite types such as collections or record types in order to pass them around effectively.

  • Function Modules: maximum number of parameters ?

Q: Is there a limit of maximum number of  parameters  existing, while calling a function module.
    I didn't find a hint in the ABAP-Documentation.
We have a function module, with 120 parameters and this should be enlarged by about 25 new parameters.
Can this cause a problem ?

    hi,
why do you want to go for such an approach?
instead create a Table Type in the Data dictionary and create fields in it. Populate this Table type in your program and pass it to the FM.
doesnt it sounds a neat way of development??

  • HT201250 I had files stored on a hard drive that were not on my Mac. I used the hard drive for my first Time Machine back up, but it was not enough hard drive space to finish. Now those stored files are gone. Is there any way I can recover them?

I had files stored on a hard drive that were not on my Mac. I used the hard drive for my first Time Machine back up, but it was not enough hard drive space to finish. Now those stored files are gone. Is there any way I can recover them?  No, they were not part of previous Time Machine backups, and I have checked both the hard drive the documents were lost on and the new one that I now use for backups. Any suggestions would be helpful, as the lost files are old pictures that are gone forever. :[ Thanks!

    1. Yes, if both drives are formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
    2. Reformat the drives if needed, open the Time Machine pane of System Preferences, and remove the drive with the pictures from the list of items set to be excluded.
