10.2 screws up my desktop radio live streaming icons

Installed 10.2 this morning.
Previously I had radio live streaming .pls icons on my desktop which would immediately open the live streaming feed feed for the stations. After I installed 10.2 my desktop icons for the radio stations were converted to .m3u and open in Excel, but don't stream.
I have tried dragging the stations from my music playlist to the desktop (as I originally did) but that doesn't work. Tried altering the desktop icons back to a .pls file but that doesn't work. Tried having the icons on the desktop open in iTunes by default but that takes me to an http site and doesn't work.
Double clicking on the radio feeds in iTunes>Music opens the radio feed perfectly fine. How do I get that function to open a live stream feed from my desktop?
What I want to do is create an alias icon on my desktop which will open a live streaming site in my Music folder in iTunes.
Any ideas?

This still doesn't solve the problem of iTunes not opening PLS and M3U files downloaded by Safari.
This started happening on one of my machines after installing the update(s), but I upgraded another machine and it behaves properly. Can't figure out what happened, other than on the first machine having the problems, I didn't upgrade everything at the same time.
Tried reinstalling iTunes again, and also Safari again, still doesn't work.
Created a new user on the same machine, and it wants to open Boxee whenever a .pls is accessed. Removed Boxee, it wants to launch VLC. Removed VLC, then it launches TextEdit.
Too bad that "Use iTunes for Internet Playback" button is gone.

  • When does iTunes supports  AAC+ / MPEG4 radio live streams?

I like listening radio live streams thru airTunes on my stereo. Unfortunately at the moment the swiss national radio station does not support iTunes as e.g. www.kcrw.com. They answered they will jump one step further to AAC+ / MPEG4 as new standard formats. But of course iTunes does not support this new standard either. Has anyone a clue if iTunes will support these new formats? thanks

  • Online Radio live streaming

    Hello,
    >>but my main concern is how to get urls of live streaming of various radio stations.
You will need to use your favor search engine to find more radio stations. This forum is to discuss windows phone development, it’s out of our support range.

Was heißt das nun ?

  • Realtime delay of 'live' stream

    Hello,
I'm speccing a job for a client who wants to use live streams
and have cutomers phoning in to direct the show as it happens in
the studio. One consideration is how 'live' is live streaming in
flash. Does anyone know roughly what the delay from studio camera
to end users machine is? I intend using a high-spec machine with
good video card, flash media encoder, and Limelight Networks as the
    server provider.
    Thanks in advance
    Mike

yes, we too have a very small delay in distributing the
    signal.
But remember the buffer settings in the client. Typically
that would be 3 seconds and anything smaller than that may result
    in a jiggly video stream.
The internet itself was not meant as areal-time delivery
medium, so delays may vary, opposite to classic media like tv or
radio, where there were no varying delays (until dvb-t came up (=

  • Issues while watching content after live streaming operation

    Hi,
1)We have performed a live streaming of an event using Azure Media Services , we streamed the entire event
which was of about 5-6 hrs duration . But at the end we came to know that it has streamed only last  1 hour of
    entire event.
Can you let me know what might be the issue?
2)We performed a live streaming of an event in 2 parts using azure media services. After 2 hours we stopped the streaming of 1st part and deleted the channel for 1st part and we started streaming of another part by creating another channel . We are unable to
view the 1st part through content url while we are able to view the 2nd part through content url?
Can you let me know what might be the issue?
    Thanks,
    Pushkar

The fan is speeding up to cool the GPU. The GPU (graphic's chip) heats up because video's and game's work the GPU much harder than normal desktop activities.
When was the last time you checked and cleaned the air intake grill on the bottom of your iMac?
I shutdown (stopping the fans), disconnect the power and vigorously vacuum out the bottom grill work on my Mac's a couple of times a year to keep them running cool.

  • Problem with live streaming video after system updates

    Dear all,
I hope you can assist me on this.
Yesterday, I downloaded the following automatic updates: iLife Support 9.0.4, Remote Desktop Client update 3.4, Mac OS X Update Combined 10.6.7, Airport Utility 5.5.2.
After that, I could NO MORE watch live streaming channels. To be precise, l can properly hear the sound, but not see the video.
I wish to underline the fact that before installing the automatic updates listed above, I had a clear sound and video of all live streaming sites.
I downloaded the latest versions of JAVA and Flash, but unfortunately they didn't solve the problem.
Therefore, I am quite sure the live streaming disfunction has to do with the system automatic updates. Is there any way to uninstall yesterday's updates without compromising the various softwares and OS performance?
What else could be if not related to the system updates?
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks in advance.

    Stan,
I hadn't heard of gspot before.  I downloaded it and it looks like a nice, handy tool.  Thanks.
After running it, I didn't see anything that caught my eye as unusual (corrupt file, unknown codec, etc.)  I have posted a screenshot at the following URL if you care to look.
    www.cbvideo.com/gspot/gspot-out.jpg
Now, let me add to the mystery.  I was just able to burn it without incident with Encore 1.5 and the same chapter mark locations.  There are only two things I can think of that would be possible causes.  1) something quirky about CS3, even though I've not had any prior problems in two years with it for my business OR 2) the file had become corrupted when moving from the capture computer (the older computer with 1.5) to the newer computer (with CS3).  As the file seems to be okay on the 2nd computer (plays fine in WMP and imports into both Premiere and Encore), I'm leaning toward #1.
I have been able to successfully work around the problem to finish this job for the client, but I'd still like to know what's going on for future reference.  If anyone has other ideas, please let me know.

  • Videographer Wants To Live Stream - Lost At Amazon

I am a freelance videographer and I am researching methods of live video streaming. I want to offer my clients, some of whom are entertainers and event promoters, the ability to stream events, and on-demand recordings, and also to control access to them. In other words, I need the flexibility to stream on my own Livestream platform or some other platform and have it be protected. The basic Livestream platform only supports fully public streams and recordings.
I have a computer fully equipped to perform live streaming, but I have not set up the services associated with it (except for the Basic Livestream platform)
I have an Adobe Flash Live Media Encoder installed as part of the Livestream Studio desktop application for multi-camera productions. I also have a Teradek Vidiu - a camera-top unit that allows me to stream via WIFI or hard-wired internet on remote shoots without a computer. Finally, I also have a subscription to Adobe Creative Suites 2014.
Two days ago, I streamed an event live for the first time using Livestream, and it was a success! However, it was mainly an experiment to test my equipment and the quality of the video stream. And because the stream was public, there was no way to charge the viewers for watching. Livestream does offer the services that I think I need to control access to my video streams - password protection, viewer login, pay-per-view, etc., but they charge a very high Enterprise level fee that is inaccessible to a lone operator like myself. So I am looking for alternatives.
I also came across something called WOWZA, to which I have a trial account, but I know nothing about how to use.
The Adobe Live Flash website led me to Amazon, and here I am. I already had an Amazon.com account, so it was easy to create an AWS account. But I have no idea what I am doing here. I see all sorts of Amazon web and cloud services, but I seem to have lost any links or references to live media streaming, which I originally set out to do.

I may as well update my own thread because nobody out there seems to see it. I have upgraded my Livestream account to the Premiere level of their platform, which gives me some nice capabilities. But, because everything is done in house at Livestream, I am not really learning the nuts and bolts of how anything works.
I know nothing about Adobe Flash Live Media Encoder, which happened to be installed along as part of the Livestream Studio application. I am trying to understand it apart from LS, and how it might integrate with some of the other CDNs. I'm not learning much here on this forum about Adobe's own application. I though this might be the place to go for answers

  • Audio live streaming not smooth

    Hi
I wrote an application, call radio. It play mp3 and publish signal to livepkgr. I don't know sometime audio-live-stream stop, and wait 1~2s it will be continues play. I sure my connection from client to server is perfect.
I read configuring performance features and did it with "combine audio sample", but it not effect.
    Here my live streaming:

Can you help me how to fix it ? Sr my poor English

Is the XML a copy/paste? If so you may have a typo in your media url. There
is a space in "liv e". That could be the issue.

  • Quicktime live streams stop and then repeat

Hi, I'm using firefox 2.0.0.11 and Quicktime 7.3.0
I'm trying to listen to a live stream from a radio station that is a .wax live stream. Everything works fine, however, when the playback marker reaches the right side of the quicktime screen, the stream stops and it returns to the beginning and repeats what it's just played. I'd really like to listen to the whole stream until I decide to stop it. Can anyone help?
    Simon

The same thing happened to me, EXCEPT, for me, I realized that if I NEVER touch the controller during the live stream it doesn't stop and loop. It keeps going until the feed ends.
For me, it ONLY stops and loops if I try to use the controller while viewing the live stream.
This is certainly not a fix, but a possible temporary solution for some, while Apple works on fixing this BUG.

  • Publishing multi-bitrate live streams for iOS

I'm having difficulties publishing multi-bitrate live streams that can be viewed on an iPad/iPhone.
I'm running Flash Media Server 4.5, and have carefully followed Adobe's Tutorial on streaming live media (http) using hls found here:  http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flashmediaserver/devguide/WSd391de4d9c7bd609-52e437a812a3725df a0-8000.html#WS0432746db30523c21e63e3d12e8340f669-8000
After completing the above tutorial, the video can be seen just fine on my desktop computer via the flash plug-in, but it's not working in iOS...
When I go to what I believe to be the proper URL, (http://myflashmediaserver.net/myevent.m3u8),  I get an error message on my iPhone and iPad saying "The operation could not be completed".
I have created two set-level manifest files (one .f4m and one .m3u8) for the live stream using the Set Level F4M/M3U8 File Generator and saved them to the WebRoot directory, but alas, no love.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Mike

I just finished going through the short and sweet tutorial on the Adobe website "Capture, encode and stream live multi-bitrate video over HTTP to Flash and iOS", which confirmed that I seem to be doing everything right, but I'm still getting the "The operation could not be completed" error message on both iPad and iPhone.
Grasping at straws, I'm wondering if it could have something to do with some of the "hacks" I was asked to make in the other tutorials, (which, oddly enough, weren't mentioned in the tutorial mentioned above).  Specifically:
         • Edit FMLE config file on the Mac I'm encoding the live video on (change <streamsynchronization> from false to true)
         • Delete/Rename the "manifest.xml" file in applications/livepkgr/events/_definst_/liveevent directory
         • Edit "event.xml" in applications/livepkgr/events/_definst_/liveevent (change <segmentduration> from 40,000 to 16,000)
However, I've tried running this with the above hacks as well as in their non-hacked state and am still not seeing success.
    Please advise.  Thanks!

  • AIR SDK 16 (and 15): live stream video pauses when from non-iOS to iOS

Using either sdk 15 or 16, when live streaming video through media server, if I go from iOS to iOS devices, no issue. If I go from non-iOS device to iOS device, the non-iOS device receives the video and audio fine from the iOS device, but on the iOS device the video it receives freezes (almost from the start, after a couple of frames, then long, long pause of freeze - minutes long - then a few more frames, then freezing, etc.) - the audio is fine, it appears to be just the video. I have tested this with android to android (fine), android to desktop (fine), iOS to iOS (fine), android to iOS (freezing video only on iOS side), iOS to desktop (freezing only on iOS side).

VideoTexture is a HUGE improvement for video on Windows and iOS. I am testing on Windows 8 and iPhone 6, but VideoTexture is still in beta and will take a few more months to get the kinks worked out. It is working for me on iOS sometimes, and whenever it works the pixels have a transparency applied to them. I have logged that pixel transparency bug here:
    https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3936111
Also you will notice that Adobe has mentioned the following in the known issues section:
[Air Desktop] [Video Texture] Video is not playing if texture is used as ConcreteTexture of starling.(3949908)
         (Release Notes | Flash Player® 17 AIR® 17)
On iOS the VideoTexture seems to work for MP4s loaded directly from the file system, but RTMP is not ready yet. But when it is ready, I suggest that you adopt it immediately since VideoTexture is where Adobe is focusing it's video efforts.

  • JVC GY-HM100u for live streaming

I want to buy the JVC GY-HM100u for live streaming at my local church. We want to be able to have the camera at the front of the church and have the laptop that we are using somewhere else.
Is this possible and if so how?
Also what laptop would you recommend for this type of task
(Live streaming a Church service and editing the recording later on)

First question I have is why do you want the camera at the front?
Second question is are you using the laptop for the web broadcast or recording?
Third question - what hardware are you going to use to get from the camera and into your computer, and what software to get it from the computer to the web?
My advice is stream in SD and run a composite video line from the camera to some sort of hardware that'll get it into your computer to stream out. What hardware you need depends on the software you use to stream. It's church - save a few bucks going SD, then donate what you save to a local charity. If you do anamorphic (widescreen) SD you'll probably convince half of your web viewers that it's HD. Check with your streaming provider about what needs to be done with anamorphic video. Don't forget to think about what kind of upstream data connection you need. Check with your provider to see what kind of sustained upload speeds you need. Do tests during the service to see what's available. If you have public WiFi sharing the internet connection you might run into issues sometime.
For your recording later on, just record to the camera's SD card slots. The JVC you mentioned records Quicktime movies that'll go right into Final Cut. This can easily be HD.
Make sure your audio is clean, it matters more than the picture. Get a feed from one of the audio consoles. If it's the front of house board (or the board if you only have one) ask for a Matrix, post-fade AUX, or Tape Out from the sound guy - though he will have an understanding of what you need already. You might look into some sort of auto-gain controller or compressor to level things off. You can have 12dB of difference between someone talking and a band play easily.
For the laptop - again it depends on your streaming provider. A desktop may be a better option for specialised hardware requirements.
I'm going to hop on a soap box here at the end for a second. I don't mean this offensively to your local church. I have no idea what sorts of programs you have in place or anything of the sort. That said, for a church I'd sit down and do a cost-benefit analysis on this before continuing. Sure, a live stream is cool, but given the cost that it takes to get it going I'd rather buy school supplies and hygiene items for kids that need them, or put some money into social justice. Chances are a live stream isn't going to change someone's life, but providing a village with clean water changes several lives. You could probably step away from the live idea, drop down to SD, and save about $4,000 initially, plus whatever ongoing costs web streaming necessitates. A lot can be done with $4,000.
