11g export to rep

I was taught by Oracle that 11g no longer generates or uses the .rep file. However, it is available under File > Export. Is this the same as the old Generate rep (Ctrl+T)?
What is this used for in 11g and how can it be run?
Edit... I guess rwrun is alive and well.
So now I'm really confused as to what's going on.
Thank you.

we are facing exactly same issue. We are trying to export from 11gR1 database using 9i client and import it into 9i database. 11g is having character set AL32UTF8 and target 9i is having WE8ISO8859P1.
While exporting NLS_LANG variable was set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1 and while importing the same was done. Even then I am facing following error while importing,

  • Import data to 9i from 11g export error.

    Dear All,
My new production server has 11g up running. I like to move data from the 11g to the legacy system of 9i as a backup server. Both servers are Linux. Both 9i and 11g clients are installed on a XP computer. I found the information that I need to use 9i exp on 11g and 9i imp to 9i database. If this is the way, can someone help me to clarify it more? What exactly do I need to do? Thank you in advance for your help! Here is what I did and received an error.
On the XP Oracle client side:
    Copied 9i's exp.exe to 11g BIN directory. Then execute C:\product\11.2.0\client_1\bin\exp user/passwd@RESRCH STATISTICS=none FILE=AriesExport.dmp TABLES=(DATASRC,DATASET,SUBTASK_PARMS,EXPERIMENTER,CHANNELS,COILS,SPEAKERS,LEDS,TRIAL,TS_DATA)
It created an error of ORA-12541 no listener. Needless to say, the database is working fine.
If use the original 11g's exp.exe, the above command runs successfully.
    The 11g tnsnames.ora in C:\product\11.2.0\client_1\network\admin

I have the same issue, but my client (export) is 11.1.0.7.0 and my database is 11.1.0.6.0. I beleaved that the same versions (11) have to work toghether. But they do not.
Does it mean that I have to reinstall my client to have en export that works?

  • OBIEE 11g: Export to entire dashboard issue

    HI,
My dashboard contains four pages and each page contains one report.
if I export to entire dashboard then am getting first 25 rows from each report only.
How to get all rows from each report.
Note: Each report contains around 2000 rows. That's why I didn't put display all rows by default.
    Regards,
    Srinivas.

    Hi,
Edit the each dashboard and check Print properties.
    1. Edit the Dashboard
    2. In Tools select 'Print Options' i.e down to 'Dashboard Properties' option
    3. select Print Rows 'All' instead of 'Visible'
    4. Now save and export the dashboard.
Now you will be able to export all the data from the dashboard report.
    Hope it helps,
    Bose

  • Exporting .rep Files to Excel via openDocument?

    Hi,
as the documentation states, only .rpt can be directly exported to excel via openDocument's sOutputFormat.
Others created with Desktop Intelligence (.rep) can "only" be exported to PDF and HTML via sOutputFormat.
However, in the WebIntelligence Toolbar there is the possibility to Export those .rep Files after generation.
The URL for the export looks like /saveAsPDForXLS.jsp (or something like that), and as far as i remember a sEntry  GET var is passed with the query.
This sEntry var - i suppose so - is an unique id for the freshly generated document?
Anyway, my question is, isnt there a way to use openDocument to export .rep Files to excel?
    thanks!
    attila

    Hi Ted,
exactly, but as i mentioned when the request is finished and e.g. the pdf document embedded in a frame shows up, there is the chance to export it via the toolbar to csv/excel.
When selecting that option, a redirection to /saveAsXLSorPDF.jsp (or so) is fullfilled.
I'm not sure what exactly happens between that redirect, maybe you can help me on that point.
The sEntry parameter being passed to saveAsXLSorPDF.jsp, where from (or how) is it generated?
Does the sEntry param depend on the openDocument URL request, Is there some special algoritm for generating that sEntry?
To make it clear, what im thinking about is:
I can make an openDocument URL Request
    sleep(20min)
Make another request to saveAsXLSorPDF.jsp with the sEntry which i could generate by myself, if i knew what algorithm is underneath!
    Thanks in Advance

    nidhiHi Nidhi,
No, if you want to use an 11g export dump and import it using 10g utilities to a 10g database.
Yes, if you use 10g export utility to extract 11g database data, and use 10g import utility to import in 10g database.
For more information on export/import compatibility, please check:

  • Error during dump file Import  from 11g DB into XE database

    Hi ,
I have a dump file exported from a 11g database. First i imported this dump file into another 11gdb test database and it worked fine.
Later i tried to import it into an XE database. But import completed with error message as shown below. This error message appeared only for few tables.
IMP-00015: following statement failed because the object already exists:
Note - I created a new schema in XE database and tried to import the dump into this schema. So there is no chance for the object to exist before the import operation.
Does anyone have any idea why import in XE fails? Is there any limitation/restriction in XE?
FYI - All the tables that failed to import contains LOB data in it. Is LOB datatype is not supported in XE? Does this cause the problem during import?
    Regards,
    Ashok Kumar.G

Going from 11g to XE(10g) is problematic for two reasons 1st - 11g exports not necessarily compatible with an earlier version and 2nd I have found that in some cases 11g exports can have problems when importing back into another 11g(11.1.0.7) instance due to stack overruns whereas an 10g export to 11g normally works fine..
    ./bob h.

    ORACLE 9i:-

    ORACLE 11g:-
    export TNS_ADMIN=/u02/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/network/admin
then export which listener you wan...
TWO_TASK(tns connection string) & TNS_ADMIN(path of network files $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin) before if you want to use specific listener either 11g or 9i.

can you correct if im wron. Thanks
