11g Pivot Table Prompt Totals

I've created a pivot table in which I have two columns listed in the Pivot Table Prompts area (formerly known as the pages area in 10g).
When editing the pivot table, the Layout section shows a summation icon beside the words Pivot Table Prompts. I've clicked that icon, and selected before.
The dropdown list for the first-listed (leftmost) column in the Pivot Table Prompts now shows an entry of All Values above the detail values, as it should.
However, the dropdown list for the other column does NOT have an All Values entry.
Furthermore, selecting the All Values entry for the first column HIDES the dropdown list for the second column entirely, and the pivot table shows a grand total of all values for the second column.
This makes no sense. I want to see All Values for my first column, and still be able to select individual values for my second column, or perhaps select an All Values for the second column.
There is zero documentation on this feature, as the OBIEE 11g User Guide does not contain the string Pivot Table Prompts.
Has this been reported as a bug?

Well, I'll be darned. You are exactly right. 10g behaves exactly the same way when using two page dropdowns.
So yes, it was inherited from 10g. But then again, I inherited high blood pressure from my parents. That doesn't make it a desirable trait.
And there IS an obvious workaround: just create an ALL VALUES calculated member for each of those dimensions.
Thanks for the reply. Credit given for the correct answer.

  • How to disable Pivot Table Prompt ability to move into sections?

Pivot Table Prompts can be moved to sections when report is running. How can the ability to move the prompts be disabled?
When running the analysis, hover near the beginning of the prompt to get the arrows.
Can then drag and drop the prompt into another section of the report.
Can also do the same and move it back up into the prompt, but users sometimes accidentally move the prompt and can't get it out of the section.
How can the drag and drop of the pivot table prompts be disabled?
    Thanks

The above is my new source data.
I used this function to calculate  Rank:=RANKX(ALL(Sales[Item_Name]),[Sum of Sales_Amount])
    and also used yours below:
    Rank2:=RANKX(SUMMARIZE(ALL(Sales),[Item_Name],[Category]),CALCULATE([Sum of Sales_Amount],ALLEXCEPT(Sales,Sales[Item_Name],Sales[Category])))
The Preceding screenshot is the result of our two function but i wanna pivot table like shown below:

  • Obiee spurious pivot table non-total figures

    Hi,
My problem is that a pivot table in conjunction with non-hierarchical columns presents figures where no figures exist at data level rather than pivot table totals.
    OBIEE version 11.1.1.7.0
    Essbase version 11.1.2.3
I have an Essbase data source for my subject area.
I have a column (dimension) 'Account' which has the structure (in Essbase) Account is parent of 'Total Income and Expenditure' is parent of 'Total Income' and 'Total Expenditure'. I filter to only include 'Total Income' and 'Total Expenditure' in my query.
I have a column (dimension) 'Entity' which has a number of tiers of which I am including in the query only the first level of children of Entity.
My problem is that in a number of rows I get figures against 'Total Income' where when I check against the source this should be null, all of the way down the hierarchy - i.e. there are no figures at all so this cannot be an aggregation issue.
I am not doing anything exotic on the business layer in terms of alternative aggregation sources.
If I use a hierarchical column I get the correct numbers, but I do not want to in this case.
    Any input appreciated.
    thanks,
    Robert.

Use expression sum(Marks by Name) in the FX of mark measure in the criteria tab and set the property to suppress the values for measure column.
appreciate if you mark as correct.

    Kashi

  • Pivot table - Grand total Error

    hi,
I am getting incorrect totals in my Pivot table.
i.e The Grand Total is not giving the exact sum.
    pls direct me..
My scenario: I need to calculate the total expenses per region and quarterwise.

i havent used any aggregation rule.
In the Answers, i have designed the Pivot table in the below format
    [i simply drag-dropped the Columns]
I should give the grand total regionwise and also quarterwise.but the grand totals arent displaying the proper results.
    pls advise.
    Ex:
    region          Q1     Q2     Q3     Region- Grand total
    AAA          20000     50000     120000     xxxxxxx
    BBB          22240     13456     111500     xxxxxxxxx
Qtr-Grand Total     zzz     zzzz     zzzz     nnnnnnnnn

  • Pivot Table Grand Total

Newbie Question: How do I add a Grand Total of my columns in a pivot table?
    Thanks-
    Charlie Epes
    Buffalo, NY

    Hi Charlie
click the pencil icon to edit the pivot table then click the sigma symbol icon to add the grand total. You can do this for rows or columns.
Please close the thread and award points if this helped you.

  • 11g - pivot table bug?

    hi, experts,
I have run the utility to migrate 10g dashboard to 11g.
after the migration, I found that there is problem in a pivot table report,
    the report contains 3 columns:
    brand , subbrand, quantity
    brand and subbrand are dimension
    quantity is fact.
when brand and subbrand are placed in ROWS, quantity in MEASURES, Measure Labels in Columns, the pivot table gives correct result.
however, when brand is placed in ROWS, quantity in MEASURES, subbrand and Measure Labels in Columns,
the pivot table gives incorrect result,
    some rows are duplicated.
    how to solve?

    Hi,
Yes, we too faced this issue in 1.5 (seems a bug), but ultimately we had to make the application work for the column heading.
Use left and Right Indent accordingly to make the text appear to your requirement. We specified left indent 20 for our reports for making it centered, so you can try a value which will align for your requirement.
And thus meeting the requirement :)
    Hope this answered.

  • Oracle answers pivot table grand total problem

    hi All,
I am working with OBI dashboard. I have a problem in creating a pivot table. To make it simple assume I have 3 columns: Sales, Target Sales, and %Diff. I added a total row but the problem is the total for %Diff is actually the average of the column instead of the %Diff between "total Sales" and Total "Target Sales". The aggregation rule for %Diff is set to Avg. and "Show data as" is set to Value.
I have seen the same problem here before in some forums.
Can anybody help me on this?
    Thanks
    Sana

the problem is the data is coming from Discoverer (another team converted data from disco. to OBI anwsers) so I do not have access to Biz model.
is there any other way for that?
    thanks

  • How to move excluded items into Measures in OBIEE 11g Pivot Table

    Hi All,
Need your help. Previously I have about 25 facts in my pivot table as rows. Now I need to add about 10 more. Adding new criteria only put the items into Excluded section. How can I move all these new items at once to the end of the existing facts? What I can do now is moving them one by one, and in the middle of existing facts, then move it again, because I can point my cursor to the end of them directly.
    Thanks a lot,
    Gajah.

I've tried to drag the fact heading, but I can't point my cursor to the end of existing list of facts (unfortunately they are all in the same fact group name). Do you have any suggestion on how to put the new facts at the end of the list?
    Thanks.

    Ribhi,
Although there are people here that could answer your question, it's better suited for the SQL forum as it's not Apex related.

  • Pivote Table

I have two measurement columns in my pivot table. One has values that need to roll up into an over all row total for a customer. A second column has one value that repeats but in the pivot table it totals all the rows as well but I just need the one repeating value to show once. Then have a grand total at the bottom of the table. How might I over come this obstacle? Is there a group by function like in SQL?

the following logic display the sum only once per contact.
case when rank (Opportunity."Created Date" by Contact."Contact ID") = 1 then sum(Opportunity."Opportunity Revenue" by Contact."Contact ID" ) else null end
You could create something simularly. Hopefully, this is waht you are looking for.

  • Pivot table total on a computed column not showing when using a filter

I have this strange issue. I will try to explain.
I have three columns in my report - Delivered Qty, Opened Quantity, and the third one is computed that is (Delivered Qty - Opened Qty). The data is displayed in a table by quarter. So basically I have Quarter, Delivered Qty, Open Qty, Not Opened Qty. I also have the total row. A pie chart shows the opened vs. un-opened quantities. It all works fine.
The issue is when I add a prompt and the corresponding filter, the total for the computed field is blank. This happens whether it is pivot table or a regular table. That causes the pie chart to show 100% for the Opened qty.
When I remove the filter, it works again. I can see the total for the computed field and the pie chart looks great.
Can anyone please help me? I have a number of hours trying to play around with this and also looked in the forum to see if any one might have already discussed similar issue in the past. I could not find any.
    Thanks.

I found the issue with my table total not showing up. Basically the new materialized view had its own data table alias. However, in the filter I was using date columns from different date table alias (copy and paste problem). As soon as I changed to the right date columns from the associated alias table, the row total showed up.
    Thanks anyways for your support.

  • Remove the word "Total" in Row Totals in Pivot Tables

    Hi,
Is it possible to remove the word "Total" that appears in Row Totals in Pivot Tables?
Eg. If there are 2 Dimension Columns -- Year and Month .... and if we do row totals on Year
The total appears as *'2008 Total'* or *'2009 Total'* etc. i.e. Each of the Values is followed by the word 'Total'.
However, i would like the totals to display only the values '2008' or '2009' without the word 'Total'.
Is this possible in OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0 ?
    Thanks,
    Ab

    Hi ,
Goto Total -> Format label and type in @.This will remove the word"Total". I have tested this in 10g, try this and let me know if it works in 11g.

  • Dashboard Prompt - Variable - Populate/Calculate column in Pivot Table

    1. I have a need to store the values of three prompts (Year, Quarter and Month) in my dashboard prompt, So a 'column A' (calculated value/measure) can be dynamically populated in my pivot table based on the users chioce.
These prompts have to be multiselect prompts as the user may opt for 2 or more years/ quarters / months etc.
I don't think Presentation Variable would work as I have to use multiselect prompt, I have been trying Non-System Session Variables & dynamic repository variables- but could not get it to work. I am thinking only of using one of the three variables (session/dynamic/presentation) so far, is there a better way to tackle this?
Any help/pointers would be much appreciated, thanks

I should clarify a little: our sales "process" is very simple (not really a process). We do not use Opportunities. We enter new Leads, and if we win the business, we convert them to a Contact. Thus, our "win %" is simply the number of converted Leads divided by the total Leads for a given period. In my table I would like to display the % of Leads for a given period that are converted to Contacts.
    Thanks again.

  • Conditional formatting on total cells in pivot table

Hi, i have a pivot table with some values and percentages.
The percentages are in red if less then 0.
I have 1 row and 1 column of total values, but this cell aren't red if percentage is less then 0.
Does anybody know a solution for my problem?
    Thanks

This is the example i create:
    DIM A:
    - Total A
    - Value A
    DIM B:
    - Total B
    - Value B
    FACT:
    - Value A (DIM A)
    - Value B (DIM B)
    - Actual
    - LY
    - Delta % (Calculated: 100*(Actual - LY)/LY)
Then i create the pivot table with B on rows (Σ on Total B), A on cols (Σ on Total A) and measures Actual, LY and Delta %. The last one has a conditional format on Delta % < 0.
This is the xml that i have:
