1200 LAB-PC NT

Is it possible to use 1200AI card AND Lab-PC+ card at the same time ?
I am traying to use them on a Windows NT PC, but when I go to MAX and try "Test Resources" for 1200 , I get the message "Card is not responding at this basis adress " (or something like that).
I can not change any setting for 1200.

Hello;
You shouldn't have any problem on installing both DAQ devices together on the same machine.
Try the installation of one DAQ device at a time, and make sure it passes the resource test before you install the second device.
Also, uninstall whatever version of NI-DAQ you have installed on that machine, download the latest available version (6.9.3) from NI web site, and install that version of the driver.
Try the 1200 on different slots of the same machine, and ultimately, on a different machine to test the hardware itself.
Do the same for the Lab-PC board.
Hope this helps.

  • LV printing problem

I used Report Generation to implement printing of front panel. Everything is nice. Then I built a appalication and tested the printing function on a computer without installing LV6.02. I got the following error:
    failure: image.cpp, line 11472
    in LabVIEW 6.0.2.
But if I install the LV6.02, everything will be nice.
It seems that the "Crimal" is Runtime engine.
    How can I do?
For most of my usesrs, the LV is not sure to be installed.
I installed Runtime engine 6.02. The OS is Win95/98.

The 1200 family cards have some special properties different from the common E serials. It was ignored.
The following is the reason that causes the problem.
Unlike other boards in differential mode, for the 1200 family of data acquisition boards (DAQCard-1200, PCI-1200, Lab-PC-1200, DAQPad-1200, and Lab-PC-1200AI) the channels names of the four differential channels are 0, 2, 4, and 6 as opposed to 0, 1, 2, and 3. So, in your scan list you have to specify (in descending order) "6, 4, 2, 0" for your four differential channels.
The patch is available in the ftp://ftp.natinst.com under the name Biobench12P.exe.

  • How do I tell LabVIEW to send a logic high to a digital port when an ICTR Control Counter reaches a specific value?

I am using a DAQ-1200 lab card (8253/54) to run a micro-stepping motor for a NASA research project. I need to tell LabVIEW to send a logic high (+5V) to one of the digital ports when my counter (ICTR Control) reaches a specific value. The logic high trips a relay which changes the direction of the motor, but I cannot figure out how to trigger it. Thanks!

Wire your counter T/F condition to a Case statement, and when T, have the 'Write to Digital Line.VI' output the logic high or low as appropriate. That VI is in the Functions>Data Acquisition>Digital I/O palette. This should work. Good Luck - Doug

  • Lab-PC-1200 not responding in Win2000

I was using a functioning system using a Lab-PC-1200 DAQ card and Win98 and LabView 5.1.1. I upgraded the computer to Win2000, and now I am having problems.
When I first run my application, everything seems fine (I read my analog inputs from the card correctly), but when I run a portion of the application that involves data collection in a While Loop, I get an "Error -10452 @ AI Single Scan. NI-DAQ LV: No inerrupt level is available for use."
After a while of trying to troubleshoot that problem unsuccessfully, I try to go into M&A Explorer and Test Resources and get "The device is not responding to the selected base address." I was not getting this error before.
So my first goal is to find out why the device is no longer re
sponding. I am running NI-DAQ 6.9.3. In the Win2000 device manager, it says everything is operating correctly. I have tried rebooting, reseating the card, deleting the device then rebooting to re-install the drivers, and nothing seems to work.
I have read through several other complaints of similar problems, but no solutions yet. Any other ideas out there?

    Hello,
I was able to find a document which is similar to your problem, although a different operating system. It sounds like for your case, you have an IRQ assigned, so that will differ from the information that I found. Regardless, I will post it for information that could assist you. I suggest checking the resources and seeing if there is anything else that is sharing your resources. If there are, either assign a different IRQ (if available) to your device, or disable the devices that are sharing. The other suggestion that I have for you is to try the device in a different computer to see if you can isolate the problem to either the board or the computer. If it is the board, then you can send the device in for a repair.
    Good luck.

    ================================
The following trick was used on a Windows98 machine to assign an IRQ to a Lab-PC-1200 board (AT-interface) when no free IRQs were available. The lack of free IRQs caused an error -10452 during any buffered acquisition. In this case, we deliberately created a resource conflict with LPT1 and the DAQ Card, both using IRQ 7, to get the DAQ card working. The "trick" is to know that the user cannot simultaneously use LPT1 and the DAQ card and live with the conflict. Before trying this procedure, confirm that the DAQ card installed properly, and the only problem is the lack of an IRQ assignment to the card because none are available.
    1) In Win9x, enter start >> settings >> control panel >> system >> device manager >> select "computer" >> properties >> select "View Resources" and IRQ. Browse the list and determine if any free IRQ levels are available - also determine what resources which are currently used are not needed. (*note : do not mess with any entries that you do not understand). In this case, the user identified LPT1 as a used resource that he would not need. Press "cancel" to get back to the device manager tab.
    2) In the system control panel device manager, select the DAQ card lacking an IRQ resource under "Data Acquisition Devices". Select "properties" and go to the resources tab. Uncheck "Use Automatic Settings" and select a configuration that allows entry of an IRQ. Select IRQ and press "Change Setting", scroll through the list of IRQs until you select one used by a device that you know you can live without. In this case, we selected IRQ 7 for LPT1. (note - you can also try reserving IRQ resources under the "reserve resources" tab).
    3) Reboot the computer.
    4) Enter Device Manager again - observe that the two devices are now showing a conflict on the selected IRQ - this is normal and on-purpose.
    5) Enter Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX). Select the DAQ card and test resources. The device should now pass the test.
    Other Suggestion:
In the BIOS, some computers allow you to select PCI only, ISA only, or both PCI/ISA for various slots, and thus reserves resources for those slots. You may be able to enter the BIOS and select "Both PCI/ISA" to free resources for use with ISA cards if they are reserved for PCI cards.

  • Unable to detect Lab Pc 1200 in max 3.0

I am currently trying to install a legacy NI DAQ card
Lab PC 1200 onto a Windows 98 machine. I believe this is a plug and play card as the windows operating system is detecting it everytime I boot up the machine. THe windows keep on prompting me for the driver.
From the NI website, I have obtained NI DAQ 7.0 installation. I have installed it but I still could not find any such devices under the device settings. I have try refreshing the list a few times by clicking view/refresh. However, there is still no such device
Currently, I have only installed the NI DAQ 7.0. I do not have any other NI software product like Labview. Will this affect the card installation? I have attached the MAX 3.0 configuration pix

In the NI-DAQ 7.0 Readme file you will find that the Lab PC 1200 is no longer supported by the NI-DAQ driver. This is one of our legacy devices as will not be ported to our new driver.
If you wish to use this board, you will have to install version 6.9.3, or previous, of the NI-DAQ driver. You can find version 6.9.3 on our website at http://www.ni.com by clicking on Download Software or by using the following link directly.

  • Counting TTL pulses from 10 Hz to 3000000Hz with LAB-PC-1200

I want to count TTL pulses from an electron analyser. How can I use the DAQ wizard to connect the analyser to the PC-1200 and look if it works?

    Augerspectro,
The counter chip used on the Lab-PC-1200 is the 8253. Thus, you will be able to use any of the 8253-counter examples available in LabVIEW. To count pulses, I would suggest that you examine the Count Events (8253).vi example. With regards to the required hardware connection, this is discussed in the device's user manual (link available below).

Lab-PC-1200 is not detecting in win98. Can I install 1200 manually?
Is Lab-PC-1200 driver for win98 supports Intel chipset 815?

    Hello Sajen,
What version of the driver are you using? For that particular DAQ board, you will need the 6.9.3 driver.
Have you successfully installed this board on another machine? I do not know of any incompatibility with the Intel 815 chipset.

  • Scanning of Film Prints by Processing Labs - Image Resolution

I shoot a fair amount of film, in addition to digital, so I usually scan my own photos to be able to use the image editor. I've asked around to the run of the mill photo labs (wally world, costco, kmart, etc) about having my images output to picture CD and there appears to be quite a bit of difference in the image resolution and output format they offer. Many of them can't top my basic flatbed scanner.
anyone have any insight into this, or suggestions for where I might go to get a 5MP output image tif?
Most of the photo labs offer jpg at around 1600 x 1200
    thanks!

My comment came about for 3 reasons:
    1) I have come across quite a lot of people who either buy or save up for DSLRs who don't need them. They just think it's the only route to good pictures. The reality is that, in some cases, they never get a good pic because the cameras are too complex. The main thing is to be aware of the options.
    2) For the last 15 years of film photography [I gave up film 3 years ago], I used SLRs. There really wasn't a choice. I started out with a bag full of lenses, which I lugged around. I missed loads of pictures because I hadn't lugged it. In the latter few years I started using "super-zoom" lenses - 28-200 and then 28-300. The effect was that I just didn't need any other optics. I was still carrying a camera weighing about 1Kg, but that was an improvement.
    3) For me, photography is about taking pictures. Period. I come across so many people who are obsessed with all the equipment. They buy all the mags and are always hankering after something new. I sometimes wonder if they ever take any pictures [other than all those "test shots"]. I've had the same digicam for 3 years. I might upgrade it soon, but I'm not in a hurry.

  • How do I do to set a port as two 4-bit I/O ports with LAB-PC-1200/AI?

My user manual say that in Mode 0 port C (with the Lab-PC-1200) is considered to be two 4-bit I/O ports.
How can I do to set this function in LabView?

Unfortunately, you will be unable to accomplish this in LabVIEW. This operation is not supported by the data acquisition driver. NI-DAQ will generate an error when trying to configure port C as two 4-bit ports. While NI-DAQ does not support this function, it is possible to use register-level programming. Application Note 131 includes sample register level programming code that will accomplish this task.

  • 7920 and 1200 AP's

    Greetings,
I had a 7920 about 2 months ago until it crapped out. I have been setting up AP's but have been unable to test them with the phone.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.... One 1200 AP will support 5 phones. What if you are in a remote location away from the LAN and have to set up an AP as a repeater? Does the 1200 support a 7920 in repeater mode? And if so, what are the limitations as far as number of phones?
    Thanks

One of the key aspects to remember when calculating network capacity for 802.11b networks is that it is a shared medium. So consideration must be given for “radio contention” amongst the various devices. This means that the back-off algorithms in 802.11b that allow multiple devices to access the medium will affect the overall throughput.
For the VoIP calculations below, a VoIP call has the following characteristics:
    (a) The packets are made up of a 20byte IP header, an 8byte UDP header, a 12byte RTP header, and the RTP data.
    (b) The RTP data is a 20ms voice sample. For G.729, this is 20bytes. For G.711, this is 160bytes.
    (c) The total VoIP packet is 200bytes of (IP+UDP+RTP) headers + RTP Data. The 802.11 header (L2 MAC) is 24bytes long, so the total packet is 224bytes
    (d) RTP data is transmitted at 50 packets/sec in each direction, or 100pps for a full-duplex conversation.
Looking at the 11Mb column of the chart, we can make the following calculations for G.711:
    256 byte packet size = 2,596,588 bit/second = 324,573 bytes/second (Theoretical Packet Rate)
    100 packets/second * 224 bytes/packet = 22,400 bytes/second (Bandwidth of G.711 VoIP call)
    324,573 / 22,400 = 14.489 calls (Theoretical Maximum VoIP capacity per 802.11b channel)
    14.489 * .6 = 8.69 calls (Theoretical Maximum number of VoIP calls * 60% of bandwidth)
NOTE: 60% of bandwidth is used to calculate the number of VoIP calls
    (a) it allows bandwidth to be available for data traffic
    (b) it provides bandwidth consideration for 802.11b management traffic and acknowledgements
The design consideration for G.711 calls is not to exceed 7 concurrent VoIP calls per AP.
This number has been proven in lab testing to provide acceptable voice quality.
The design consideration for G.729 calls is not to exceed 8 concurrent VoIP calls per AP.
This number has been proven in lab testing to provide acceptable voice quality.
If you talk to your account team and ask them for the 7920 design guide you can see the full details
"Also, can you please clarify the difference between non-overlapping channels and different channels. I thought they were the same. "
In 802.11b there is 11 channels (for the US some countries have different laws) each with a channel width of 22Mhz, this is a large channel width and means it overlaps some other channels This means that there is only 1 combination of 3 channels that do not overlap with each other 1,6 and 11 and several combinations of 2 channels that do not overlap eg 2 and 7 etc
This link has a good diagram showing the channel overlap

  • My print resolution will not stay at 1200 dpi - HP Envy 4500

When I go into my advanced settings, I change my printer dpi to 1200x1200, however, it always defaults back to 600x600.  I have changed the paper type to hp premium paper, but it still defaults back.
I am trying to print coupons from this printer, and when I do, the bar code is blurry, and my coupons will not scan.  I cannot get them to print at 1200 dpi....
    Thank you!

    Hello momfor2,
It appears that when trying to print your coupons, the printer won't stay with the max dpi setting. I will try to assist you with this.
I looked into this, with a printer in one of the labs and was able to find two places within the printer software where the quality of the output can be changed.
First go to the printer assistant (icon on the printer on your desktop)> click on preferences> click on the quality tab> this will allow you to pick tray, paper type, and output you may set this to "best". click apply. Exit the application and test a print. The program software may still overwrite the setting we just setup.
The other place is in the same location as above on the Quality tab, you will also see and "advanced" button, click on it to open another window> there should be an option for "print with max dpi" change this to "yes", click apply. Close the application and test.
This will set the printer to be printing with its max dpi setting, however as mentioned about the programs can still overwrite that. If it does, you may have to look up how to save the setting in the specific program that your printing from.
Let me know how you make out with that. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.
