2.7 update for HP printer via prompt from Imac; printer crashed

Per a standard window prompt on my IMAC indicating a 2.7 update for HP Photosmart printer 309G, the printer toally crashed and won't print or copy anything. Can this be uninstalled? any other solutions? Thanks.

You may either add the device and the drivers will obtain via Software Update, for full functionality you may also install the full feature software from the HP site:

Be sure to check the HP REcommended Software option while installing, reboot your Mac after the installation done and run Software Update.

Windows 8.1 Update - issues deploying printers via GPO from a 2012R2 Print Server

I am trying to deploy a single printer to Windows 8.1 clients in a K-12 environment. We have about 1200 laptops and about 25% of those laptops are installing the printer. Several different users can log on and the printer may or may not be there. The printer
is being deployed to the Computer not the User. If the printer was successfully installed shouldn't the printer be available immediately after logging in with different AD accounts? Sometimes it shows up 10mins later as if it needed to install it again. I
read the changes from v3 to v4 printing in Windows 8, Ive checked the event log errors, printer shares, etc. Deploying Printers to Windows 8.1 clients is poor at best even when it supposed to be easier for IT to manage. Also I was under the impression that
Windows 8.1 clients do not attempt to downloads drivers from a windows print server anymore as they opt to use a v4 print class driver.
Environment Details:
Windows 2012R2 Printer Server all patched, Windows 8.1 all patched, AD users are identical as well as the computers (reside in the same OUs) Printer is deployed to the computers, Point and print restrictions is completely disabled. Restarting the print spooler
on the client has little to no effect. Computers connect wirelessly to the network and print server is in the same building. Started pushing to the user as well to see if it helps. Windows 7 clients are unaffected and get the printer consistently.
Errors:
The print spooler failed to download and import the printer driver from \\Server into the driver store for driver KONICA MINOLTA C652SeriesPS. Error code= 800f0242.

Software Update printer driver update for HP causes an extra page to print that just has "2345X" printed on it.

A few days ago, Software Update showed a printer driver update for HP so I installed it. Now, after everything that I print, I get an extra page that just has "2345X" printed on it. I tried reinstalling the driver update but still get the extra page. Anyone know how to get stop this extra pgae from printing?

Once you have reset the print system please make sure you are selecting the HP Driver and not the Airprint driver (see picture below)

Updates for Remote Desktop via App Store Software Update

Hello, and Happy Thanksgiving. On a computer running Mavericks, I installed Apple Remote Desktop 3.5 from the disk (not from the App Store.) On it's first startup, I was greeted with the message "The Remote Desktop Administrator software must be upgraded on this computer." I downloaded and installed the 3.7 update manually from http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1565. However, I view this as a "Band-Aid", and not a fix. How would I recieve future updates for Remote Desktop from Software Update within the Mac App Store?

(iTunes) iOS based apps (for iPhones, iPads, and the iPod touch) can be updated directly from the device.
Tap the App Store icon then tap Updates at the bottom of the display.
For your Mac...
- Temporarily disable anti virus software if installed.
- Apps such as Little Snitch, Net Nanny, and Hands Off can prevent apps from downloading including Mountain Lion.
Quit the App Store if it's open.
Now open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy/paste:    ~/LIbrary/Caches/com.apple.appstore
Click Go then move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.appstore folder to the Trash.
Type or copy/paste:    ~/Library/Cookies
Click Go then move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
Type or copy/paste:    ~/Library/Preferences
Click Go then move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.

Upload PDF directly to printer via Citrix from off-site computers

Is it possible to upload PDF documents directly to the newer HP printers, especially the business printers and copiers (MFDs)? We have HIPAA-containing data that home-based users must print at work, and therefore cannot be sent via the cloud.
Our current printer vendor supports uploading PDFs directly, which our users are using. The workflow involves printing via PDFCreator, then opening the web interface print tab of the device they are printing to and uploading, via a browse button, the PDF document. The connection is handled through our Citrix remote access servers, everything is encrypted, and all data stays out of the cloud.
Because HP's ePrint is in the cloud, we cannot submit HIPAA-containing data via that route.
If no current HP products have that capability, can it be added? I would think a firmware update to have an upload option would be very doable. It appears that the ability to print PDFs is already present via ePrint--this would only be another way to submit a print job.
Our current printer vendor's device functionality includes being able to upload and print other print-ready formats, including .PCL and .PS files, but we aren't using that capability currently. It would be nice to be able to upload .DOC/.DOCX formats directly.

Photoshop: Printing: via Mac from printer on Windows 7

Hi all,
First off - if you know a better place I should be posting this question, please inform.
I'm trying to print from Photoshop onto a printer connected via a windows computer. I've tried everything and am nearly at the point of paying somebody 40 bucks to just set it up for me. This is a pain since I have to interrupt the person working at the windows computer just to send an order to print.
Printer: Epson Stylus Pro 9600 Ultrachrome Ink
Connected to: Windows 7 Computer
Shared to: iMac 10.8.3
Set windows to workgroup
Made sure workgroup same name in Mac
Set all shared settings in Windows to everyone and allowed everyone to make all changes
Set printer sharing settings to everyone and allow to print/manage.
Tried connecting printer from Mac finder: Go > Connect to Server > smb://[IP address] AND smb://[user@computer]/users
Tried connecting printer from Print & Scan section of System Preferences: + > Windows > workgroup > jim-pc (computer name). It asks me for a name and password at this point. No name and password combination works. Tried "guest" "guest" and that seemed to work until I tried printing. Instead of completing the print job it states something like "Waiting for Authorization". I tried authorizing as "guest" "guest" but the print disappears from the queue.
Tried connecting from Print & Scan: + > Advanced > Type: LPD/LPR Host of Printer, Device: Another Device, URL: "Ipd://[IP Address]. Left name as IP address. Tried Generic PostScript Printer - didn't work. Tried Epson S9600 drive (updated it)- didn't work. Tried Generic PCL Printer and it actually printed a test page! It left the printer running like it was thinking, though. When I went to print from Photoshop it no longer worked and I couldn't print a test page. I tried the same thing with changing the name to no avail.
I'm completely at a loss. I've gone over all of the options I've found on other forums. I spent 6+ hours (yep) trying to figure this out on the weekend. If anyone has any ideas, helpful links and/or step-by-step guides I would be grateful. If you need more information or you're part of a site like crossloops and want that $40... I think I'm at that point now!

You will need a print server software on your Windows machine. There is no way to print directly via a Windows share from Mac.

Unable to print via Airprint and Wireless - Print utility (wireless) is working fine

I have a Photosmart 310a (Device model number: CN503B). I am not able to print wirelessly or via Airprint from the iPhone or from the Mac. But the Printer Utility (Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2) can connect to the printer (wirelessly) and show infos and prints test pages.
I have restarted the printer, checked that the networksettings are correct. Is there anything else to try?

Try unplugging the printer for about a minute. Make sure the iPhone is also connected to the same wifi network as the printer. Also, try checking for product updates on the printer. Go to "setup" > 'web menu' > "product updates" > "check for product updates". If there is an update available then allow it to install. The printer will then reboot itself after it installs the update. Try AirPrint again. If that still does not work, try unplugging the printer, router, and power cycle the iPhone. When you power everything back on, you want to let the router get booted back up completely first, then the printer (make sure that the printer is still connected to your wifi), then the iPhone. Wireless Network Printing via HH2 to a Print Serve...

My HomeHub 2 runs with my with my desktop PC under Win XP Pro SP3 with an HP Photosmart
D5160 .   I decided to try and provide a simple home wireless network using a TP-Link WPS510U
wireless print server. My HH2 is Ethernet connected to the desktop and the router provides the
wireless link to the print server.
The D5160 provides bidirectional communication when installed and using a direct USB cable
connection to the desktop PC and everything works as expected.
Using the print server I just get basic printing with no feedback to the PC. In fact, using the HP Utility Solution Centre and checking Settings /Status I am told the D5160 is disconnected!!
Is it possible to make this wireless link work correctly with two-way communication?
Am I missing something in the set-up that doesn't allow the bidirectional wireless communication via router plus server, but does when the printer has its own internal wireless circuits?
If I have instead an self-contained wireless printer will this provide the full two-way communcation via the router?
Looking at Control Panel/Printers and Faxes/HP Photosmart D5160 and clicking on Ports tab I have in the list of 14 ports (LPT, COM, FILE, USB001, etc) plus
DOT4_001    HP Photosmart D5160 Printer
IP_192.168.1.10-2    Standard TCP/IP Port    HP Photosmart D5160
This last one is ticked and the Enable Bidirectional Support box is also ticked.
I can also go 'Run/cmd/DOS window' and 'ping 192.168.1.10' and get the replies from the printer.

Wireless will not be able to provide a full bi-directional interface, as its not designed to do that. Printer status relies on a physical hardware connection over a USB or parallel port (old printers), to allow the printer to be interrogated and its status returned.
Also, if you use a printer plugged into the USB port of the HH2, you will get the same problem.

Windows 7 PC connected to HP printer via time capsule. Printer keeps printing the same page over and over

I am using time capusle and have my husbands Windows 7 PC and my MacBook Pro connected to it. I just purchased a HP LaserJet P1606dn and have connected and printed to it succesfully using Bonjour on my MacBook.
I have connected through Bonjour to the printer on the PC, but when I print a page, it keeps printing the page over an over. It stays in the que. I also set up my dual boot MacBook/Vista laptop and agai, I have no issues on the MacBook part, but it does the same thing on the Vista Machine as on the Windows 7.
Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Located a solution:
Go to Control Panel - Printers --- right click the printer and select Printer Properties.
Select the PORTS tab and disable Bi-Directional Printer Support. Seems to work whether the printer is installed either via USB or Cat5 to the Airport Extreme network.
For HP printers, if that first fix doesn't work, download and install the HP Install Network Printer Wizard - allow it to replace your 'newer' driver, but check hp.com for step by step instructions.
Third suggested fix is to download a PCL6 driver, or a different model-driver altogether that is more generic than model specific.

If your HP 470 has the WiFi option, an iPad App like Print n Share may work for you.
If it does not have the WiFi option, you can connect it to a computer and share it as AirPrint over WiFi using a program like Printopia for the Macintosh. For a free solution for either Mac or PC, search the web for AirPrint Activator.
