2 Devices Synchronize

Hello,
i have the problem in Sychronize. i found an example in NI Tutorial.
Who knows what is the Name of the Element in the black Circle?
And where can i find it out in the library?

  • I am a beginner in Labview and need help with multi-device synchronization.

I am using a VI I found in order to continuously acquire and write voltage.  The next phase is to somehow synchronize this with a linear platform and am wondering if there are any tutorials on how to do this out there, or if anyone could give just general advice.  I'm not necessarily asking for explicit details on the code but rather where I would be able to improve my skills in a way that would help with this project.  Thank you in advance.

    Hi riraheta,
Are you using daq? Can you tell me more about this linear platform which you want to synchronize? What operation do you plan to synchronize?
There are some examples online which has to do in synchronizing devices, depends on what you're planning to synchronize. The following are the few I have found.

  • X series device synchronization

    Hello,
I have a simple problem and cannot find any solution:
I have two PCIe-6320 devices connected with RTSI cable. The cable is registered and works correctely.
I create two analog input tasks and synchronize them with OnBoard Clock- it wirks correctly.
Now when I try to add counter output task (to generate 12 pulses for SSI encoder) I get error -89137.
What clock should I use to run analog and digital task in the same time?

    Dear vcb,
First of all, let me welcome you to the NI forums. I am looking forward to work with you on solving the issue.
For the first step I recommend you to read this KB about the specific error code, it may help:
Why Do I Get Error 89137 "Specified route cannot be satisfied..." When Routing PFI Lines Over RTSI?
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/A7A4024278353BF7862570230072C6E1
It is also important to note that the routing in your case is 10MhzRefClock to RTSI0, (it is not wired to Sample Clock in your VI).
You could also check the DAQmx Device Configuration palette, where you can use an API to route within the device. It is generally adviced to do RTSI signal sharing in the following way:
Use DAQmx Export Signal.vi and/or DAQmx Export Signal Property Node
There you have a property for TimeBase sharing. In the other device, if you wire a constant to you TimeBaseSrc, you can right click the constant -> I/O Name Filtering.. --> Include Advanced Terminals
This way you get access to more options. From there you can specify RTSI0 as TimeBase.
Please let me know if you found these information useful, and/or if you need more help with the issue.
    Best regards,

  • Can Anyone help me with an AI Multi Device Synchronization in Continous mode ?

    Hi,
I am new to this forum and relatively new to Measurement Studio.
I have started using Measurement Studio for ANSI C a few month ago and it work perfectly but as the program grew so did the need for C++.
In ANSI C everything was relatively simple but in C++ I need a working example to work on.
    I started by looking at the example in : C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MeasurementStudioVS2003\VCNET\Examples\DAQmx\Synchronization\Multi-Device\AIFiniteAcquisition
but the problem is that this one is in finite mode and I need continuous.
I have tried combining with another example for acquisitioning in continuous
work but I cannot make it work.
Please can anyone here help me !! Your help is much appreciated.
    Thank you.
    What shoud I do ?

    Hi Julian,
How are you doing today and welcome to the forum.
I see that you are looking into one of the examples of finite acquisition for synchronized I/O across several channels or devices. Are you trying to do synchronization in your own application at the moment?
If you meant you couldn't get the continuous acquisition working alone without thinking about the synchronization part at this stage, I would suggest you to start looking into the examples of continuous acquisition for single channel first, and then when you feel more comfortable with it, move on to integrate the synchronization part for multiple devices, which the code would be very similar to the finite acquisition example you've already found.
Examples for single channel continuous acquisitions are located at,
     C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MeasurementStudioVS2003\VCNET\Examples\DAQmx\Analog In\Measure Voltage
I will continue to look into your issues while I hope you can tell us more details about what exactly you are trying to do?
    Thanks,

  • SE 710a - Can't turn on Sync - Already registered as a USB device?

My Sony Ericsson S710a was working beautifully until just recently. I can only suspect that the problem has occurred because of a recent software update (I haven't tried to sync the phone for a couple of months).
iSync is just plain broke! I've removed every com.apple.bluetooth... com.apple.isync... com.anything.having.to.do.with.anything.related.to.isync.and.bluetooth...
I've removed all the phones from my library. I've restarted, removed and re-added the device from the bluetooth preference panel. yada yada yah... I can use file exchange, browse, everything but friggin sync!
I enable the "Turn on device Synchronization" checkbox in iSync and it auto deselects when I try try sync and says "No Devices Activated...". I remove the device and try to re-add it and it says it is "...already registered as a USB device." A USB device? It never has been nor ever will be a flippin' USB device!
What the heck did Apple do? Somebody throw me a bone here!
    Dual 2.5 G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   D-Link DBT-120 Dongle

I suspect a problem with Sync Services.
Can you open the Console application (in Applications -> Utilities), then launch iSync and see if something related to iSync or Sync in general appears in Console?

  • Hardware options for synchronization

Was wondering if someone could help "rank" these approaches for synchronization.
    - TCXO with shared references/PPS (i.e. - MIMO cable or OctoClock)
    - OCXO
    - OCXO with GPS
The "standard" TCXO models require extra stuff (MIMO or OctoClock or external sources) to phase lock and time synchronize.
The OCXO gives you better accuracy...but it is unclear the degree to which this has an effect on phase coherency (and over how long a time).  Presumably, you'd still need something like a PPS to time synchronize?
With the GPS disciplined devices, are you basically getting the phase coherency and time synchronization from the GPS signal rather than external 'stuff'?  Or are there instances where you'd still need something like the MIMO cable or OctoClock to further nail down timing and synchronization?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Brandon,
Thank you for the extra information! I have been looking further in to this issue, and a lot of your question depends on your hardware and system setup. JamesB, awesome post! This is great information.  To add to this, for our GPS USRPS (NI USRP 293x) unfortunately you cannot use the Ref In inputs, so splitting out the external clock is not going to be an option on this hardware. With this in mind, option (c) will likely be the easiest since that is exactly how our USRP's work. Are you using an NI USRP? If so and you're trying to sync up 8 of these USRP's together, GPS might be the only real option.
As far as direct cabling vs. GPS for accuracy, direct cabling is more accurate if you are using an external clock that is is more accurate than the onboard clock and if you're using a USRP that can use an external reference clock
The NI USRP 2930 and 2932 both have OCXO's which alone are more accurate but there is no way to extract the 10MHz source to another device, except for a MIMO cable which is only good to use for 2 devices. Therefore the direct cabling method only exists for specific scenarios:
    1. Using MIMO cable for up to 2 devices
    2. Using an external clock, and a splitter.
However, the internal OXCO does not do you any good for more than two device synchronization. Using a GPS antenna, clock disciplining and a clear view of the sky will let each USRP utilize it's own OXCO and still be synchronized. So it is not just GPS, it is the act of using GPS information to adjust the already great OCXO time reference which required each device to adjust it's own clock. The following document shows the specifications for a USRP without a GPS antenna (just the OXCO accuracy) vs. the OCXO accuracy in conjunction with the GPS disciplining in section 4 (Synchronization with GPS Disciplined Oscillators on NI USRP 293x):
    http://www.ni.com/tutorial/14705/en/
While I was looking in to this, I also found this forum post that had a similiar question:

  • Question: installing synchronization tool in environment

    hi!
I have two questions and hope someone can help me make it a bit clearer.
    I have installed:
2x DS 5.2 (solaris 8, same machine, one consumer one master)
    2x AD (same domain!) 2003
    The synchronization tool sp1 installed.
Sync create goes DS to AD.
Almost everything works, only the consumer DS doesn't get the password changes made on the AD side. Does anybody know what could be the problem?!
Second: maybe someone can tell me what i should install where:
So both DS need a plugin and only one connector and do they both need a prepds run?
Both AD needs only one connector (because same domain) is it possible to switch when the first one goes down?
About the certificates. There i found a view what to install where in the documentation, but not about the above.
    Hope someone can help!
    Thanks in advance.

So, I think the correct option should be Exchange(Default). Please correct me if I am wrong.
You would have to ask your Exchange admin how it is configured. Wally already provided the link which explains it: "If the mobile device synchronizes with Exchange Server, set the Exchange flag
AllowExternalDeviceManagement to ensure that the mobile device continues to receive email from Exchange after it is enrolled by Configuration Manager. If you install the Configuration Manager Exchange Server connector, you
can set this flag by configuring the option External mobile device management in the Exchange Server connector properties" So it has to be set to "allowed" somehow (either by specifying it in the connector's
properties or using the Exchange settings).

  • GPS Synchronization

    Hi All,
I am curious whether any routers or network devices synchronize with each other using GPS precise timing.  I know certain wireless cell phone networks utilize GPS for synchronization, but I am wondering if the same applies to wired networks (both ethernet and fiber). I say synchronization am referring to the router's internal clock/oscillator, not time-of-day.  All information is appreciated!

    Hi All,

whether any routers or network devices synchronize with each other using

to wired networks (both ethernet and fiber). I say synchronization am
referring to the router's internal clock/oscillator, not time-of-day.
    All information is appreciated!-Marc
    Hi Marc,
As of today, two main solutions for real time clock synchronization:
    – Router synchronized with a server using Network Time Protocol (NTP).
    – Router synchronized directly with an external reference clock.
Before you buy a GPS clock for your router, make sure that Cisco supports the GPS product and that your router has the capability to obtain timing information from it?only certain routers support this feature. If your router does not support this feature, you need some other device to use as a master time reference. Most UNIX and Windows server products support external GPS devices.
If you have the Trimble GPS clock and are attaching it to the auxiliary port of a 7200 router, you need to configure the following on your router:
    Router(config)# line aux 0
Router(config-line)# ntp refclock trimble pps none stratum 1
The ntp refclock command tells the 7200 that it has a Trimble GPS clock attached. The pps parameter indicates the type of pulse-per-second reference support: In the case of Trimble, this is set to none. Because this is probably the root time source for your network, you define the time source as a stratum service level of 1.
    Hope to Help !!

  • How do I seperate my iPhone & iPad from my wifes iPhone?

Ok so I see a lot of answers on here that may help but not sure and Im afraid to try with out getting better info so here goes:
My iPhone and my wifes Iphone are both on the same itunes account this worked fine until the IOS5 update. She updated her phone to IOS5 I have not in fear of crossing paths so to speak. Now when she sends imessages to people it shows up under my name or email instead of hers big problem. to add to the situation I got an ipad for Xmas and like a dope I went and plugged it in. Now it is synced to the apple ID both her phone and my phone are. Not working well because I am now getting all her text messages in imessage on my ipad.
So question is how do I keep my iPhone and iPad under my Apple ID but create and Apple ID for her and move everything over?? And please explain in as easy terms as possible not an itunes master yet. P.S. Im working on a PC.
    Thank you in advance.

I created two iTunes Library on the computer. How to do this, while holding shift and open iTunes, it will pop up a window asking you to choose a library or create a new library. Create a new library. Give it a name diffirent then you original one, like "wife". Then you still use the same iTunes account login and password. So you are still sharing all your iTunes purchases and the two device synchronize to two diffirent "library"! Note: in your wife account you will have to link all the music to your original music folder. In the "apps" tab now you can select (check mark) the apps that she needs on her device and you can do the same for your device.
IMPORTANT: after you have done the library, connect her device and sync, choose all the settings she likes and make a backup. After, eject her device and close iTune. Holding shift, re-open iTunes and choose your original library ( which it should be the other name then the one you gave to your wife) and now connect your device and synch it. Then go in the "apps" tab and select the apps you want and apply that. Synch again and do a backup.
From now on, remember to always hold shift when starting iTunes and select the library that matches the device.
Hope this solve your problem and good luck!

  • New iSync 2.2 still not working with Nokia 6230

I was very pleased to see iSync 2.2 come out yesterday and have support for the series 40 phones - however after Installing 10.4.6 on my new MacBook Pro, and opening iSync, the phone is found by Add Device, but when I go to add it I get the message:
"Your phone, 'xxxx' does not work with this version of iSync.
To enable this phone to work with iSync, contact the phone’s manufacturer or your service provider to update the firmware on your phone. For more information, visit the iSync Support website."
The picture comes up but even if I drag the phone icon to the iSync window I can not sync it - 'Turn on Device Synchronization' will not stay ticked and clicking on Sync ends in a window saying it can't sync until I add a device to iSync.
The Phone is properly paired with the computer through Bluetooth Device Setup. (Address Book works with it just fine, as does file browsing)

  • How can I sync Google Calendar with my E75?

This is driving me insane. I've searched and searched and searched the web for a way to sync my E75 unlocked phone with Google Calendar. 90% of the threads and comments Google digs up simply say, "It doesn't work." Some people seem to have manged to get it to work with some very minor variations on the following directions:
    1. On the E75, press the Menu key.
    2. Select Email.
    3. Remove the Mail for Exchange mailbox (if it currently exists).
    4. Select New from the home screen of the Email application.
    5. Press Start.
    6. Enter a fictitious email addres that you know does not exist.
    7. Press OK.
    8. Enter a fictitious password for the fictitious email address.
    9. Press OK.
    10. Select Mail for Exchange.
    11. Type in your Gmail username/email address.
    12. Press OK.
    13. Leave the Domain blank.
    14. Press OK.
    15. Type: m.google.com
    16. Press OK twice.
    17. Type in your Gmail password.
    18. Press Log in.
    19. Go to the home screen of the Email application.
    20. Select Settings.
    21. Select Personal information management.
    22. Select Applications.
    23. Select Calendar.
    24. Select Calendar sync (this will enable calendar).
    25. Go to the home screen of the Email application.
    26. Select Settings.
    27. Select Mail for Exchange.
    28. Select What to sync.
    29. Select Sync email (this will disable email).
    30. Select Back three times.
    31. Press Options.
    32. Select Synchronize.
My problem is that my E75 Mail app doesn't have the Mail for Exchange option described in step 10. The rest of the procedure just goes down the tube at that point. After a great deal of research, I'm left with the impression that either something is wrong with my phone or these directions are out of date. Has anyone had recent experience configuring the E75 to work with Google Calendar either through MfE or through another (free) app?

     Hi there,
didn't read your complete rant, it's clear you've disappointed by substandard product and/or mismatching expectations, I on the other hand have had a exceptional good experience with my N95. It's reaching old age now, so I can't wait for the N900. However I do see Nokia has a challenge to overcome, well two actually. Yes you're right they're trying too hard to create some Nokia-bounded platforms, instead of facillitating the connectivity between platforms. Recently saw some intresting concepts in the beta apps, but they require a similar nokia app on the other side. Well I'm very sorry Nokia, nowadays I don't even know the number of the person I'll be calling, do you really believe I know (or want you to tell me = $$?) who of my contacts has this app enabled?  With some good will and some fantasy I could say it's a part of brandpositioning and solidifing (or some other fancy BS ;-) ). Nokia however also seems to have an issue with postdevelopment integration and streamlining of their apps. Developing apps as more or less seperate entities might seem a sensible develment strategy and it probably is when combined with good (read efficient and thus "cheap") projectmanagement.  If a contact has a birthday mentioned in contacts, don't you think I would want to see that in my calendar? If I try to be smart, I give the input myself, but then what happens? When syncing I get 2 birthdays is my outlook calendar ;-( Similar ennoying feat happens with GPS locations, I´m using serach address, use contactlist. Have a guess where I´d like the coordinates to go to when saved....no it´s not a new and seperate entry in favourites which in turn is read by the address book, these things should have seamless integration.  User experience and ultimately satisfaction cannot be achieved by solely developing series of new and improved functionalities,  cause to us,  the consumer it´s not primarily a functionality. It´s actually a person, either in direct communication or otherwise stored for future communication. As a producer of these communication devices Nokia should show they understand this, preferably through their products. Regarding your issue syncing with Google Calendar, I'm assuming you're already using the calendar. Why not download the Google apps app? Or if you only want the calendar, take the standalone calendar app, Basically you'll have a mobilized calendar view with most of the functionalities there. Can't be online indefinetly? Just save the page locally, nothing you can't handle ;-) The solutions with either MfE reconfig or syncing with outllook/windows calendar in the middle are feasible too, however you do need to be carefull when setting direction and/or dominance of the sync relation. Multipoint syncing can become a severe headache if you haven't set it up proparly..... I've also included a google info mail, they send me some time ago. Loads of info&links, I'm sure there's a solution there which will fit your needs

  • HotSync error when connecting Palm to foldable keyboard

    Hi,
I've used a foldable keyboard (P10802U) for years and it's worked fine on both my M505 and my T3. I recently it started to give me an error when I try to connect to the keyboard. It tries to launch Hotsync and displays an error that says "The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again". I've downloaded and installed a new version of the keyboard.prc. That seems to be ineffective. No change.
Can anyone tell me what's going on here? Is this some kind of software collision or has my keyboard suddenly self-destructed while I wasn't looking?
What kind of info do you need from me to make a determination?
Has anyone else had/heard of a similar problem? Is there a solution that doesn't involve a new purchase?
Any help would be appreciated at this point, before I start poking around in the dark and really break something.
    Regards,
    Deadoweyn

I have experienced the same problem using my foldable keyboard with a Palm Vx: as soon as I place the Palm on the keyboard it prompts a Hotsynch operation (which obviously fails).
I guess the reason for this is that I cannot manage to install the Keyboard Driver on the Palm. Hard to believe, but when I load the driver from the original CD, the .prc file prepares to install onto the device at the next Hotsynch operation. Launching the Hotsynch the Palm device synchronizes all the Data and Applications but at the end (when performing the cleanup) it forces a device reset which hangs the devices.
Thinking about a Driver incompatibility (which would be strange - as I always used the keyboard in the past). I have found on the web alternative (newer) drivers for the keyboard, which do not change the scenario.
The only way to get out of this nightmare is to hard reset the device and re-install the Data and Applications on it, except the Keyboard which seems to be incompatible with the Palm Vx device.
Any idea about why such a funny behaviour ? The only additional piece of information is that I have not used the Palm Vx for many years, causing the battery to discharge completely. Not sure it means something but I cannot simply think of anything else ...

  • MFE - Server Error 501 Not Implemented - Help Pls

    Hi,
I have a Nokia E71 with MFE (latest version) installed and set up with the correct connection and credentials etc
Once i have run through the set up process i get an error which in the logs is viewed as follows:
    PeakTime active
    Setting OFFLINE Status to False
Missing Protocol Version Header. Reverting to EAS 2.0
    HTTP Server Error 501: NotImplemented
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

For anyone else who encounters this post, if you're synchronizing your device to an Exchange 2007 server, please try placing a new email in your exchange Inbox to see if that corrects the problem. This error is commonly encountered after a device synchronizes data using a synchronization application other than MfE.
If placing a new item in your Exchange Inbox doesn't work, please power off, then on your device, select MfE > Options > Full resync to synchronize your data.

  • Palm sync with iCal and Address

I have recently bought a new computer and since I have lost the installation CD of my Palm, I have down loaded the drivers from their web page. It seems to sync well, but it's not, because neither my contacts or my calendar are being synchronized! Does anyone have any idea of what's wrong? I have checked the preferences and got to no conclusion. What's the use of a Palm without synchronizing with our data?!
    Regards
    CV

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Reinstalling the Palm Desktop was a really bad idea. Although you believe it changed nothing, it actually changed everything. And, it could not possibly have corrected the original issue, which almost certainly does not involve the HotSync Manager or Transport Monitor, and could not have involved the remained of the Palm package at all.
Palm device synchronization using iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit will not work until you have address the issues which reinstalling it created, and the original issue which prevented the execution of a synchronization event.
To correct this, you should first remove your Palm device from iSync.
Then, apply this software package to update Mac OS X 10.4.9 for your PowerPC-based Macintosh:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1049comboupdateppc.html
You must use this package to perform the update, as neither the smaller delta updater of the Software Update mechanism will perform the necessary changes to your configuration.
Once you've done that, you should launch iSync 2.4 and use the Enable Palm OS Syncing… option under the Devices menu to once again add your Treo to iSync. It's probably better to initiate this process via USB, though if you elect to use Bluetooth instead, be sure that you pair your smartphone to your computer prior to attempting to add it to iSync.
If you cannot add it as a device, stop and post the error messages you see rather than trying to address them. This process should be straightforward and simple but it often is not, and proceeding without understanding the impact of what you are doing may force you to start this procedure all over again.

  • Palm 4.2.1 Desktop to iCal (OSX 10.5.1)

I recently updated to the latest Mac OS and am now running into lots of compatibility issues. I decided it's time to convert to iCal, partly because of the upgrade and also because I'm thinking of buying an iPhone. I'm finding it's not an easy conversion.
DateBook: Palm allows you to export to a vCal file, but all categories come in the same color, so all organization of client and activities by color goes out the window. It's my limited understanding of iCal that separate calendars need to be created to get this categorization.
ToDos: Palm only allows tab-delimited exportation. What do you do with that jumbled mass when coming into iCal. No way to import (that I can see) this format.
Memos: I have 8 years worth of value info in here all categorized. How do I go about getting this (again, tab-delimited) format into iCal (or Notes?).
Really starting to regret the upgrade. Does anyone who has gone through this have any valuable tips? Thanks!

If you intend to continue using a Palm device, there is only really one solution: use the Missing Sync for Palm OS.
Palm device synchronization is partially broken in Mac OS X 10.5 and later. The Missing Sync also includes a conduit and Mac OS X application compatible with the Palm memo application on your device, as well as many other features. And, there is no need to struggle with export and import of your historical data - simply install the Missing Sync for Palm OS following the instructions in the User Guide, and synchronize.
    It's really that simple.
