2 Intel Gigabit Lan's Detected. Why?

Hi,
I have an 865PE Neo2-FIS2R motherboard. I'm running Windows XP, 2000, Me, and 98 SE on my computer on 4 partitions. In Windows 98 and Me, Networking redetects the Intel Gigabit Lan. In Device Manager only 1 network adapter shows, but in the network aplet, it shows 2 gigabit lans. Why? It works ok, but I'm not sure what the deal is. Anyone else experienced this, and how did you fix it, if you did?
Mark

I guess that you must really like "Tinkering" ...Now you have to install a version of Linux, then you can go for the FORUM record for most operating systems on one PC ....As for 2 LANS being recognized, like you said they are not being seen as 2 seperate devices in the Device Manager, then as hard as it is to do ,ignore it ......Sean REILLY875

So far no other problem other than the one described below
    Issue:
    ===
Some times the Gigabit LAN device starts and other times it does not start. For the time being the RJ45 is not hooked up to anything (I.e. no external Hub or Switch). I have not established what could make it start or not, I do not change anything really, it seem random. Under device manager when it fails to start the error returned says that drivers could not be loaded because the device could not be started (error code 10).
This occured right from the begining, I have this motherbard for 3 days now. The machine has only the OS and the drivers loaded. no other software that could cause the problem. Only drivers from the MSI device driver CD have been loaded in the sequence stated.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

Make that TWO boards with the same identical problem. The first one being the LAN and the second one being after clearing CMOS that the board won't POST or anything. Talked to MSI Tech Support on this one. All he could tell me is that it seemed really odd that the same problems happened twice in a row to me. He had me try all kinds of things, but he didn't get me any further than I got myself.

One reboot I joined a domain, and after the reboot trying to log on to the domain it told me it wasn't there, and logging on to the local PC found that the LAN was not working. But I have other problems now. The system won't boot and the D-Bracket LED shows to be hanging on "Testing RTC (Real Time Clock)."

  • Weird Intel 1000 LAN problem

I've got a P4 2.8 O/Ced to 3.3, 1 gig 500-ADATA ram in dual-channel, 2 x 120 WD SATA RAID 0 HDs on a Neo2-FIS2R board on BIOS 1.52 running Windows XP + SP1 with the latest drivers for everything installed. Just to get that out of the way.
There is something strange with the network adapter thingy. On starting windows, it loads a few programs, and then I have to wait for about 2 minutes while the network card does something strange, and then after that I can start whatever programs I want. If I try and run certain things (basically anything that's not already loaded, so windows explorer things are fine) during this 2 minutes, nothing happens until after the 2 minutes it up, at which point all the programs start at once.
I know this is due to the network adapter because if I unplug the network cable, Windows reports it cannot find any network and does not go through this whole problem. Also if I start up in Safe Mode, everything runs fine, but if I start up in Safe Mode with Networking Support, it again does the big slow down. Furthermore if I disable the network adapter in the Device Manager, that also prevents the slow-down.
However if I do this, I can't use the network. Which is running on a crappy 10 Mb/s hub, if that might have anything to do with it (since this is a gigabit lan adapter).
I have unplugged all other computers from the network, and it still does this. I have fiddled with various services that have anything to do with networking (enabling/disabling etc). I have uninstalled all my other programs (not the same as a fresh install, but almost) and disabled everything else from running at start up. Yet the problem persists. I have tried running the intel network utility thing that comes on the MSI CD, it says that all tests pass. When I do the "Test Link Speed" or "Test Cable" on the General tab I get "No String Found. Id 7069 DLL _NWR Locale 1409" however.
Under the Computer Management - Event Viewer - System option I get the following significant entries, all of which are Information, not warning or error:
    3:16:25 pm Event ID 30
Source: E1000 **This is the network adapter drivers**
Intel(R) Pro/1000 CT Network Connection did no receive auto-negotiation advertisement from link partner, possible full duplex connection available.
    3:16:24 pm * 2 Event ID 6009 & 6005
    Source: eventlog
these say that the event monitoring system has started
    3:16:27 pm Event ID 4201
    Source: Tcpip
The system detected that network adapter (blah) was connected to the network, and has initiated normal operation over the network adapter.
    3:18:43 pm Event ID 7035
    Source: Service Control Manager
The Network Connections service was successfully sent a start control.
After this we just have all the other services starting up (15 entries), all Sourced as Service Control Manager. Clearly something is going on/wrong in the Tcpip Event, but I have no idea what, or how to stop it.
Curiously, after disabling the adapter and starting up, I get only the two Eventlog messages saying that even logging has started, and none of the other ones at all.
    Any one have any suggestions?

I had a similar problem awhile ago where:
windows xp pro boots up to desktop, then for 1-2 min the ethernet card tries to initalize the dsl modem (while this is going on no icons in system tray are loaded up), then after dsl modem (GVC gnet pro bb0050) initalization a sudden all the icons are loaded to sys tray and the win xp is fully booted.
After reasech here is the problem and how to solve it. I hope this helps you and others.

Q: Why do I have long delays after rebooting with Win2K and WinXP? (#1306)
A: If you are using PPPoE and you experience a long delay after rebooting, your network adapter may be configured to use DCHP.
Try assigning an internal IP address to the Local Area Connection that corresponds to your network adapter.
Control Panel -> Network Connections -> Right click on your Local Area Connection and select properties -> Click on TCP/IP and select properties.
Now insert 192.168.0.1 as the IP address and 255.255.255.0 as Subnet Mask. Leave default gateway blank.
Now go back to Control Panel and select Administrative Tools -> Services -> DCHP and select disable DCHP.

  • Intel Gigabit CT NIC (82574L -- e1000e) not working at all

Just bought a brand-new Intel gigabit PCI-Express NIC from NewEgg.
After plugging it in and booting, the e1000e module is loaded for it, but I'm not able to force it to work at all (I have tried the official Intel driver v1.3.10a).
I am using the 2.6.38.1 kernel (.2 has no relevant changes, I checked).  The NIC is connected to a rather old 3Com network hub that only supports 100Mb/s (I'm okay with that for now), and from there to my router.
I'd like to try without the hub, but it'd be a pain to move everything over, as the cable won't reach, and I have no other PCs with PCI-Express to test the card in.  I'll be trying Windows 7 ASAP.
I can switch back to my 3Com 3c905c-TX PCI 100Mb/s NIC with no issue there.
The dmesg output at boot is:

I've tried things like `ethtool -s eth1 speed 100 duplex full autoneg off`, but it just does a "NIC Link is Up xxxxx" and then "NIC Link is Down".
The light on the NIC is flashing green, green means 100Mb/s but I'm not sure if it's supposed to stay solid when working correctly.  When the cable is not in, the light stays off, so I doubt it's a cable problem (plus, said cable works in the 3Com card).

  • 845PE MAX-FIR Gigabit Lan Prob

    I just got 845PE MAX-FIR last week.
But I have prob with Gigabit Lan controller. Windows(2k) detects it alright and says it works ok; however, it can't detect lan cable if I insert it.
First, I thought it was prob with lan cable, so I installed old realtek lan card. And it works fine with old lan card.
So I send the board for repair and got a new board. BUT! it still won't detect if the lan cable is inserted. What should I do? It's not prob with ethernet controller(since it looks working fine under windows(98 & 2000) and not the prob with lan cable. Does Gigabite lan uses different lan cable? I heard it's not...then what is the problem? HELP!

I believe you require Catergory 6 Cabling, as we where studying this the other day in class :D

  • Problem arised after updated the intel wireless lan

    Hello, everyong
My laptop is T510. I just updated the intel wireless lan to the version of 15.02.0000.1258. After the updates, my wireless router was down when the laptop started. Initially it can connect to the router for a few seconds, then the router was down with all the lights going off except the power light. Once I restart the router, everything goes fine, my laptop is able to connect to the router without any problems. So I have to restart the router everytime when I start my laptop. Please help me. How to fix this problem?

Why do you have to restart the router.
Have you checked the computer WiFi profile? Why or what is not allowing the connection.
You could delete the computer profile in Access or whatever you're using and discover, reconnect to it again as if its the first time. It may resolve the issue which is unknown.

  • H515S II Gigabit LAN or not

    Hi All,
Just bought a H515S, but is already driving me nuts.
I have tried to make the H515S II run with 1000 mb on the wired WAN, but with no luck, it seems that 100 mb is what I can get out of the machine.
I have contacted my supplier, that contacted Lenovo, and their answer is that it should be able to run a Gigabit connection.
Lenovo claims that H515s is equipped with a  Realtek  V7053 Gigabit Lan chip, but when I try to install the driver, it selects a Realtek PCIe FE Family controller. I have tried to install the chipset and LAN driver from scratch, but with no luck.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?
    PS I'm running windows 8.1 - 64 bits

I tried to manually remove the driver and manually install it again. Same result.
I tried to reinstall System Update. Same result.

  • Missing Gigabit lan in bios?

Quick question, Has anyone solved this problem with the missing gigabit option in their bios? Have they said its a problem? Return your board or what?

The gigabit lan option is not in the bios as indicated in the motherboard manual, the MAC Lan option in the bios, will either enable or disable the gigabit onboard lan.

    Beides brachte jedenfalls keinen Erfolg.

    Dear specialists.
I have a question. Does the Killer E2205 Gigabit LAN support traffic encryption by TPM 1.2? If it does. What software i need to use?

From what I've read about this, it only matters on the chipset and TPM. Obviously if the chipset doesn't support TPM, it can't be used. The motherboard has the TPM connector and can enable it.
    https://www.trustedcomputinggroup.org/files/temp/4B551C9F-1D09-3519-AD45C1F0B5D61714/TPM%20Overview.pdf
From that document, there doesn't appear to be much more information on network security. I've been trying to find more information on it, but it's very lacking at the moment anywhere that I can find it. It's mentioned, but that's it. No information is given on how a platform can support the network encryption.
What I'm trying to say, is that we most likely will not be any help, and you are asking a very specialized case that is well outside of what most of the users and moderators (possibly even MSI) will be able to answer.
I would contact the Trusted Computing Group, which from what I understand, regulates the TPM. They should have more information on what is required.

  • Kt6 Delta Fis2r and Gigabit LAN

OK. Been reading a bit on the forum and a few people seem to have problem with the onboard Broadcom Gigabit LAN... just like me. Many post.. no solutions..
    OK.. (again) ... Here goes:
The broadcom gigabit lan works fine when I am just websurfing, like I am doing now. Or checking my mail, running messenger etc etc etc. The problem occurs when I try to transfer greater amounts of data. Transferring any file-size greater then 5-10 Mb from my KT6Delta-machine to my other computer makes the broadcom just die on me.
It is as if the chip just stops working...  and it is not the nic in my other computer that doesnt work.. believe me... been using that for ages.
The very same happens when I start up a file-sharing application or a few bit-torrent clients.. It works for a while and then without any warning what so ever the connection just disappears....
    I've done the following:
Tried both MSI's drivers and Broadcoms latest and greatest..
Tried switching to half-duplex.. downgrading the broadcom to work at just 100Mbit...
Downgrading to 10 Mbit... Just the same with every try...
Anyone with the same problems? Anyone with a solution?
EDIT: And the board isnt overclocked, over/undervolted or any such thing

      Solved my problems
Just transfered a 700Mb file to and from my other computer without any problems.
    I am so Happy

  • Gigabit LAN requirements ? (1000Mbps only @ 100Mbps)

I'm having trouble with the Gigabit ethernet port on my PC, currently it says it's only a 100Mb connection, the other PC with a Gigabit port is also saying it's a 100mb connection but I have set up a 1Gb connection on the other PC before so the problem must either be with this K8N Neo2 or the network cable, I'm guessing.
I have the MAC port disabled in the BIOS as I don't need two gigabit ports.
Do you have to have a certain cable for 1000Mb LAN and if so would you please give me some info on it, or is there some setting I'm missing in Windows or the BIOS. The driver properties on both machines for the network adapters in "Link Speed" both go up to 1000Mbps/Full Duplex (but don't work if i choose that instead of Auto) if that's usefull information to anyone willing to help.
If someone could give me a list or requirements/setting for Gigabit LAN that would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    System,,,
    Windows XP Pro
    Windows XP Pro x64 (RC2)
    K8N Neo2 Platinum

Do you really think he would have a system like that in his sig if he worked for nvidia or msi ??? ...
        I sure would not .
Hehe , but i shop hw with my head for my homecomputing .
And is not influenced by hypes like SLI , ultradupa memory , and dual channel 939 .
I'm already in the fast lane with that homerig , comparing is like do i need to exchange this sportcar for a marginally faster one .
I will upgrade my home comp when the "overall" performance gain is worth it as an allround rig used to other things than just pc games.
( and at 43 i dont hunt for 3d benchmarks and have the need to brag about fps and eyecandy in games i play now and then )
I'm one of the old school guys , at work have all the latest , at private balance money with performance and try to overclock
and such things to get the most out of what you have, all at a decent price .
