2 Step Picking For Replenishment.

Hello Experts
We would like to implement 2 Step Picking for our replenishment process.  I have looked at the posts in this forum and have found some answers but I still do not have the whole story.
Our scenario is this.  Within a specific storage type BKP we have some materials that we want to replenish in a single step from a secondary storage type BSC.  These would be bulky items that we would take from high storage using a forklift and move directly to primary storage.  We also have smaller items where it would make more sense to first pick and place in an interim storage area and then in a second step put them away in the primary storage area.
I have enabled 2 step picking and created 2 movement types 850 and 851.  850 moves items from a dynamically assigned source bin in the interim storage type  (200) to the primary storage area BKP.  I have configured the replenishment to use this movement type.  The second movement type moves items from secondary BSC to the interim storage area 200 and is used to create the requirement for step 1 of the pick.  I turned on 2 Step picking for the warehouse and configured it to use 851 for the removal phase of the pick.  I also checked the box to make the 2 Step process material dependent.  In the material master warehouse management view I selected option 2 in the step-picking field for those items which are to be relevant for 2 Step picking.
My execution process is as follows :
1) I run LP21 to create the replenishment  requirements.
2) I run LT41 to group the requirements.  This process correctly identifies which items are relevant for 2 Step picking and which are not.
3) I run LT0E to create the picks for those items which are relevant for 2 Step picking.  The process correctly prompts me to to create TOs for the 2 Step items and I am able to create the TOs to move product from BSC(Secondary Storage) to 200(Interim Storage)
4) I confirm the TOs.
5) I run LT42 to create the TOs to put all the items whether 1 Step or 2 Step into Primary storage.
Here's where I hit a problem.  The 2 Step items are fine.  The TOs are successfully created to move items from the Interim Storage area to BKP (the primary location)  But now SAP also tries to use the Interim Storage area as the source for the 1 Step picks instead of getting them from their original location in BSC.
I cannot see how to get SAP to use a different movement type for the one step picks than the 2 step picks ?
Should it be possible to use a mix of 1 Step and 2 Step picks for the same replenishment ?  If so how do you get SAP to correctly separate them ?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
I hope the below clarification would make you understand the scenario in a simple way.
In Inventory Management (MM) whatever you do, it will have its effect in WM.
This is done thru movement type. Every movement type of MM is linked with WM.
In inventory management the movement type is used to determine the G/L account and has some other functionalities. Likewise in WM the movement type is used to identify the Source and Destination storage types.
When you make GR in IM, it creates the accounting document in MM and subsequently triggers a TR (Transfer requirement) in WM. If you make a transfer posting(material to material) in IM, then the TR generated in WM is called as Posting Change Notice.
The replenishment will happen when you maintain the maximum and minimum level and the replenishment qty details in Material Master. It is nothing but it will trigger a TR specifying the a destination bin where the material level has gone low.
Each IM movement type is linked with WM movement type with the help of Reference movement type..
Hope this clarifies your doubt.
Reward if useful.

  • 2-step picking for production

I have a problem when setting up 2-step picking for production.
    The process works like this:
    Stage the materials in LP12
    Create TR group via LT41
    Perform first step via LT0E
Process TR via LB10 to create 2nd step TO
The issue is, that if I go to LB10 before creating the grouping, I can process the TRs directly and get a 1-step picking process. How can I avoid this?  Basically LB10 should not show TR items that are relevant for 2-step picking and the 1st step has not been done yet.

    Hi ASA,
Not clear if you want two step picking or two step confirmation for the TO (WM removal of material against production order)
Two step picking is used where same material in multiple deliveries required to pick in single movement by clubbing all required quantities in first (picking) TO and later this clubbed quantity gets distributed to all deliveries as per their requirement in second (distribution) TO.
Two step confirmation of TO involve where single TO quantity needs to pick and confirm in two different incidence. As like you mentioned the receiving location is far away from the sending location and stock removal and confirmation should not be done immediately.
    Please confirm.

  • 2 Step Picking for Outbound deliveries

My 2 step picking config in Spro is set right for sure.
I created a Group with WM reference for a bunch of (WM material) deliveries (VL06o)
Now when I do Group TO (LT42) from that screen itself.
It says "No items that are to be picked were found"
While if I view a delivery, it shows, Delivered quantity:10 and Picked Quatity: 0, I guess this is right.
Can somebody please help me with 2 step picking here.
    Regards,

    Hi Smitha,
Please check if all the items in the delivery are relevent for picking or not. If the Item category is maintained as Not relevent for Delivery then there will not be any picking.
And you can check the same in the delivery also. In the Picking tab, if you can see the Orvarll Pciking status,  Overall WM status and Warehouse No. then if it is gryed out and says as not relevent for Picking and Warehouse management then you can do picking for this deliveries.
If is is mentioned as relevent for picking, then check the ware house number for all the deliveires which you are grouping.
And yes as you mentioned, when warehouse management is active in the system, then pick qty will be grayed out in the delivery. that means you cant do picking manually. You have to pick using Transfer Order.
You can do Picking using T. Code LT03, for all the deliveries individually by giving Warehouse no. and the deliverynumber.
    Hope this is clear.

  • 2step picking for Material staging

    Hi All,
We are thinking of implementing 2 step picking for Material staging process (Production area). Please share the overview in terms of how different it is (customization settings/process flow) for material staging process as against the picking for deliveries.

    Hi,
    Just some ideas:
    1. Users should create production orders with same parameters (order type, organisational level, etc), materials, etc...
    - if it works for both of them then the problem might be that they use different parameters during their normal works...
    - if it works for only one of them the problem is likely user-dependent... You can try it with other users...
    2. Are you using immediate TO creation?
If yes, please read note 566090. This note explains how it works and also suggests the use of mail control >>> you will get message via mail why it doesn't work...
    3. If you are using auto TO creation...
...system creates the TOs from the TRs via report RLAUTA10. This should be run as background job. I don't think you use this since you mentioned that the TO is created immediately from the TR.
However, if you use this, some development should work, and I think you should check the development and the paraemters of thie mentioned report (why it works in user-dependent way)...

  • 2 Step Picking in SU Managed Whse

    Hi,
We are implementing SAP WM solution for AFS industry..
Currently we are planning to activate SU management in thw warehouse and I have questions related to 2 step picking (for out bound deliveries) in SU managed warehouse
    Scenario is:
We would like to group multiple deliveries and have one combined pick list to minimise the travel time to bn locations multiple times. Since it wil be a SU pallet, we might even bring a whole pallet to pick the necessary qty and return the remaining qty.
    Here are questions:
Do we need to implement 2 step picking for this scenario? If so.., then intermediate storage type is 200 (in which you can't activate the SU management) If I bbring the SU pallet into 200, will the SU be lost??
Can we use the Pick Point Storage type to simulate 2 step picking? In this case how can I group multiple deliveries into one group (with combined pick list)
    Please advise

  • 2-step picking vs storage unit

    Dear All,
We'd like to use '2-step picking' for production supply and we use 'storage units' (pallets) in our WH.
There might be different sorts of goods (with different part numbers) on one pallet.
The problem is, that during '2-step picking' the system wants to deliver the whole storage unit from the storage bin to the interim storage bin.
Is it possible to 'break' the SU and pick only the necessary item (and necessary qty)?
    (e.g.
There are materialA, materialB, materialC on palletA. I need only materialB for production, but the system wants to move the whole pallet with materialA&B&C.)
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
I'm not sure your scenario is viable in (standard) SAP.
    As I understand (e.g.):
    - source storage type: productA 10 pc, productB 20 pcs, productC 30 pc
    - intermediate storage type: SU1 (productA 2 pc, productB 17 pcs, productC 10 pc), SU2 (productA 8 pc, productB 3 pcs, productC 20 pc)
    - destination storage type: bin1: productA 2 pc, productB 17 pcs, productC 10 pc, bin2: productA 8 pc, productB 3 pcs, productC 20 pc
Please notice that SAP determines the to be removed quantities (~corresponding to SU1 & SU2 but not as SUs) when you remove the goods from the intermediate storage type ("allocation") and not when you place the goods into it.
Please also notice that automatically you cannot create storage units (palletize) with different products on it (I'm not sure this is requirement in your case or not).
Please check this link where it is explained where to carry out customizing for 2-step picking and how it works:

  • WM Replenishment and 2-step picking with storage units.

    Dear Colleagues,
I am attempting to use SAP standard fixed bin replenishment and implement it as a 2-step picking process. Generally, the process goes as follows:
    - Generate replenishment pick tasks
    - Place the picked products onto storage units in an intermediate storage type
    - Put the products away from storage units into the respective fixed bins
I have setup the necessary parameters to get standard replenishment to work. I can run LP21 and generate all TR's, and subsequently TO's. The product moves from respective reserve bins into the fixed bins based on strategies that I have setup.
The issue i am experiencing is when I try to introduce the intermediate storage type to place the product into, before it goes into the fixed bins. Additionally, the intermediate storage type needs to have SUM enabled, so that the product gets placed onto pallets. This way, the warehouse personnel will be able to track the physical product movements before it is put away.
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Best Regards,

  • Report for field sammg and refnr in two step picking

    Hello Experts,
I have configure two step picking which is working fine.
But my concern is when I create a group from deliveries using VL06P, an five digit number (23717) is generated. But while putting same group number in LT72 screen for analysis or doing LT0E, I am getting en error that "this group number is not existing in system.
Then I have to go to SE16 and search in table T311. Then I found that there are two group number in this table which technical name are REFNR and SAMMG. So I have to pass 23717 in SAMMG field and note down the number (17) from REFNR field and process with REFNR number.
So is there any report whether I can get the same (when I pass SAMMG number I will get REFNR number) because my business user don't have access to SE16 again it is not acceptable to business.
Or is there anyway by which I can assign same number to both SAMMG and REFNR, so that my client will refer only one number in stead of two number.
I am hereby attaching one test data. Kindly go through it and revert to me with your analysis.
    Best Regards,
    Raghu Nayak.

as an standard SAP you should be able to process the group number(23717) it seems there is some other setting / customization or you are following any additional steps in your system which generates the another number in Group (REFNR) field of T311 as in my case i am getting the same number in both the Group field

  • 2 step picking-can allocation TO be created for partial pick TO?

    Dear experts,
For 2 step picking, let's say that I have 2 items in the pick TO which belong to different materials. I confirm only 1 out of the 2 items. Can I then proceed to create the allocation TO just for the 1 item which I confirmed or is it a must for me to perform full picking for all the materials in the pick TO before I can create the allocation TO?
    Thanks.

  • Destination Bin change in Pick Module Replenishment scenario

    Dear Experts,
We have a requirement to perform destination bin change during TO confirmation into the pick module for replenishment scenario. The requirements is as below:
    System set up:
We have a storage type 001 (Replen Storage type) that has been configured with putaway strategy as 'F'. It is basically a pick module wherein we have defined one fixed bin for every SKU or Material in WM2 view and we have defined the minimum, maximum, control quantity & replenishment quantity.
Our requirement is to perform a two step confirmation for the stocks going into this pick module meaning although the fixed bin in determined during TO creation user needs flexibility to change the destination bin to a new interim bin during confirmation and then they will intern perform a bin to bin transfer from interim bin into the actual fixed bin location.
We do not want to activate standard 2 step procedure as it will impact other kind of picking process. Hence need a solution to perform destination bin change as below.
    1. For Material A and Fixed Bin 001 in storage type 001, the stock level has gone below minimum quantity.
    2. A transfer order is created automatically to replenish this bin from another storage type(This is standard SAP replen process).
    3. The user will pick stock from the source storage type and deposit the stock into an replenishment interim bin which is also a part of the same pick module.
    4. The user wants to confirm stock in interim by changing destination bin to say bin 002 in storage type 001. Although we have activated destination bin change for this storage type it is not allowing us to change bin during confirmation.
We are looking for help from experts to provide a solution for this scenario. Is activating destination bin change for fixed allowed by standard SAP? If not what are the other alternatives to achieve this functionality. Please refer the attached document for details.
    Best Regards,
    Harish

    Hi Harish
How is the replenishment triggered..are you using LP21,LP22 or LP24...IF YOU use any of these standard SAP TCode, first the system creates TR and the bin gets fixed in the TR itself. Even by having destination bin changeable at the time of confirmation will have no effect and will continue to remain grey.
I had a similar requirement in one of the projects.Placement strategy was next empty bin and since fixed bin was maintained in material master , system was always defaulting fixed bin in TR. When TR was converted to TO, the same bin got carried over
to avoid this we used user exit EXIT_RLLNACH4_004 to prevent defaulting of bin in TR. TR was created without destination bin. When TR is converted to TO, system can find the bin based on the strategy maintained. This works very well and we have used it successfully
