2013 versus 2010 - Export to Excel

Hi,
When exporting a view from Project Server 2013 Project Center to Excel, it seems to export without any formatting (no colours, etc).
It only exports rudimentary formatting such as the indenting.
This seems to be different than it used to be.
Does anyone know if this is expected  behaviour?  Or is there something wrong in our config?  The configuration was upgraded from 2007 - 2010 - 2013.
thanks,

Hi Nico,<o:p></o:p>
I can reproduce the same behaviour in Project Server 2013 environment. The export is without any
formatting (no colors etc.). Your environment configuration looks precise.<o:p></o:p>
I have found related thread to your query. Here is the link you may find useful – <o:p></o:p>

  • Project Server 2010 export to Excel 2007 fails

I keep getting the following error when I try to export Resource Availability to Excel.  I am using Project Server 2010, Excel 2007, IE8, Windows 7.  I have PS set as a intranet site with low security set.  Coworkers with the same setup are
not having this issue.  I have tried exporting to Excel with Excel open, Excel closed, on a hardwire network connection, on wireless network connection, on my corporate VPN and not on my corporate VPN.
Microsoft Office Excel cannot access the file "URL here" for the possible reasons:
-The file name or path does not exist.
-The file is being used by another program
-The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open worklbook.
Please provide suggestions on what to try differently to make the export work.  I have tried downloaded other version of IE and have the same issue.

    Hi Julia,
since nobody jumped in, I'll give a try!
Have you tried to reinstall Excel or at least repair it?

  • SharePoint 2007 Export to Excel 2010 or Excel 2013 Fails to Export All Fields in All Items View

    Hi All,
When I am trying to export the SharePoint View from SharePoint site to Spreadsheet (Excel 2013), I am able not able to export the the whole data, I'm missing some numerical columns from being displayed in Excel
I have Infopath form (2007) published on SharePoint Site and I am using MOSS 2007 and Excel 2013. My form has only 20 or so fields and the rest are fields I generated in the form library to do several other calculations. I have already 73 columns
displayed which should be exported to Excel, need help

    Hi,
As per your post, I understand “Excel cannot connect to the SharePoint list” is thrown out in Excel 2010 when exporting the external list in SharePoint 2013. We are able to export the external list to Excel 2013.
This issue does not occur on the standard lists.
I am able to reproduce the issue and it could be a potential issue in SharePoint 2013.
We will log this issue to our suggestion box. As after the submission, we may not have any time guarantee when the fix may be released, but it may come out on next cumulative update.
    Appreciate your time and efforts.

  • Excel 2013 (or 2010) wont recover/repair excel files with sheets with invalid names

    Hi All
I have a situation where some legacy software (Crystal Reports) have exported to Excel some problematic workbooks in .xls (in 5.0/95) format. These workbooks have an invalid worksheet name which I have discovered is a known problem with Legacy
    Crystal Reports.
In Office 2003 the error I get is:
"Errors were detected in 'example.xls'" but Microsoft Office Excel was able to open the file by makling the repairs listed below. renamed invalid sheet name".
That's fine because the spreadsheet then opens with the worksheet renamed to "Recovered_Sheet1" and all the expected data inside.
The problem arises because we have 2013 (not 2003). in 2013 I get:
"We found a problem with some content in 'example.xls'. Do you want to try and recover as much as we can? If you trust the source of this workbook click Yes"
If I click yes then the I get:
"Excel was unable to open the file by repairing or removing the unreadable content. Excel recovered your formulas and cell values, but some data may have been lost."
I then get a workbook with 2 sheets (unknownsheet1 and unknownsheet2) and there is no data. The issue would be no problem if 2013 could recover the data.
Is there a way in which I can get 2013 to open/recover these workbooks like 2003 manages to do? To test I have turned off all trust centre features etc. Failing that, could I use powershell or something else to get into a closed excel file and rename the
    worksheet?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks
    Thomas

    Hi,
As you said the Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 Workbook format file is a very old format, it might be has some unexpected compatibility issues with new Excel version. I recommend you convert the Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 Workbook to a new Excel format, like XLSX.
As a workaround, please try to copy the data from Excel 2003 to a Excel 2013/2010 file. It would help us using there data.
Then, based on the error message, we might try the below method:
Install the Visual Basic component in Office 2013/2010
Control Panel > Programs > select Microsoft Office 2013/2010 and click on Change > Add or Remove Programs > at the bottom of the list click on the plus next to Office Shared Features > select Visual Basic for Applications > I right
clicked and chose Run from My computer > Continue

  • How to export data from MS Project 2010 to MS Excel 2010 with formatting

I have created a Project 2010 export map to Excel 2010.  It works fine.  I have two questions that I cannot determine an answer.  I'm not sure if its a project or excel setting.  I have spend hours trying to make it
    work with little success.
    1.  When the task name field is exported to excel it losses summary/task indent.  Is there a way to set it up so it works via the export map?
    2.  The Start & Finish fields in project is setup as 5/26/11 when they exports to excel it shows up as 5/26/11 8:00 AM.  Is there a way to set it up either in project export map or excel so its formated as a date field.
Excel's Format Cell function does not seem to work converting them back to just 5/26/11.
How can I keep the outlines and formatting in my data while exporting it to Excel.
    I would appreciate any guidance.

  • Why was formatting removed from Export to Excel when exporting from PWA 2013?

We have recently moved from using Project Server 2007 to Project Server 2013 and one thing that we have noticed is that when we Export to Excel all the formatting has been removed and all the task grouping and alignment has been flatted.
Why did Microsoft remove this feature from the Project Server 2013?
Is there an easy way for anywhere there is an Export to Excel option on the Ribbon to add the formatting back?
What is the best solution to still retain the indents, bolding, and grouping?

    Jason --
I can confirm your findings with exporting PWA pages in Project Server 2013 to Excel.  As to why Microsoft removed the feature previously found in Project Server 2007, I have no idea, as I do not work for Microsoft.  I do not believe there is any
way to force the Export to Excel feature to work the same in 2013 as it did in 2007.  I think it will be up to the user to format the exported Excel workbook as needed.  Hope this helps.

  • SSRS 2012 export to Excel 2010 Via IE8 has many compatibility issues

    Hi There,
    We have many reports in SSRS 2012 which had originally developed in SSRS 2005. When ever we render these report into Excel we face two major issues;
First: After reports render in to Excel (xlsx) format, we have cell, column, row shifting problem and every element of the report is not in the same place as appose to 2005 render to xls format. Second.
for any drill through (link) report all the url will be blocked by Excel.
We use SSRS 2012, Office 2010 and IE 8. Also we don't want to add Export to Excel 2003 feature. In other word we want out put in xlsx.
Any solution, suggestion, hotfix is appreciated

    Hi Mercede,
According to your description, after you updated SSRS 2005 reports to SSRS 2012, reports render appose to 2005 when export them to Excel, and drill through link is blocked.
    Question1:
A report definition file includes a reference to the RDL namespace that specifies the version of the report definition schema that is used to validate the .rdl file. After a report is upgraded locally or on the report server, you might notice additional errors,
warnings, and messages. This is the result of changes to the internal report object model and processing components, which cause messages to appear when underlying problems in the report are detected.
When you open an .rdl file in Report Designer in SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT), if the report was created for a previous namespace, Report Designer automatically creates a backup file and upgrades the report to the current namespace. This is the only way
you can upgrade a report definition file.
In order to improve the efficiency of troubleshooting, I need to ask several questions:
“we have cell, column, row shifting problem and every element of the report is not in the same place as appose to 2005 render to xls format” Could you please provide detailed information about the problem? I would be appreciated it if you could provide
    a screenshot.
Did you update the reports by opening the .rdl files in SSDT?
Could you export report to Excel 2003 to see if it displays correctly?
This may be a lot of information to ask for at one time. However, by collecting this information now, it will help us move more quickly toward a solution.
    Question2:
I tested the issue in my local machine, when we add drillthrough action to the report, if we select Go to report or Go to URL, the link works fine after we export report to excel. It failed to work when we use javascript:void window.open to open a URL in new
windows, the “window.open” can’t work in Excel because of the JavaScript protocol can work only with an exact page.
For more information about Upgrade Reports, please refer to the following document:

If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

    Hi Wendy,
Thank you much for your fast respond. And as for your questions:
1- Yes I did upgrade them by using SSDT tools in VS2012 and then deploy them again into our SSRS2012 report server.
2- For URLs and Hyperlinks, because the action is go to sub report, I used "Go To Report" and by look at content that been blocked by Excel, I have noticed that (Go To Report) action passes IP address of our SSRS Server . I don't know how can I change
it to use the actual path instead.
3- Shifting the Cells and Rows means when I export report (from SSRS 2005) to excel in xls format (Excel 2003 for example), has very same look as it shows in screen, but when I export it from ssrs 2012 to render it in to xlsx format (Excel 2010 in our case)
I face with merging cells and when I compare this xlsx out put with xls out put of very same report I have see the row that used to be on A23 for example now is in A20 or the column that used to be in A7 now is in B9 for example. And required a lot of manual
work on design to work with spaced between text boxes and location of each data region, and overlaps to get the same result. I want to know is there more efficient way to achieve the same out put as  xls.
4- I can't export report to render in Excel 2003 (xls) format directly from SSRS server for we don't have that option in our export list, but I did "save it as" xls and faced the same Row, column, cell shifting as with xlsx.
    Thank you so much
I am realistic, I expect miracles.

  • Crystal Reports 2011 - excel 2007-2010 export

    Hello,
I just upgraded to crystal reports 2011 from crystal reports XI Release 2. I am having an issue exporting to excel 2007-2010 format. When I do an export and then open it in excel, excel gives me an error message that the file is corrupt and if I want to recover the contents. When I try and recover the contents, I am greeted with the error below. I am not sure what to do to fix it and would appreciate any help.
Removed Part: /xl/sharedStrings.xml part with XML error.  (Strings) Illegal xml character. Line 3, column 19160.
Removed Records: Cell information from /xl/worksheets/Sheet1.xml part

    Hi Marina,
What version of Excel are you using to open the report?
Have you tried creating a simple report and exporting it?  It's possible something in that report is causing the problem.
    Good luck,
    Brian

  • Export to Excel without Attachments in SharePoint Server 2010 Libraries

    Hi All.
In SharePoint Server 2010 Libraries, when i use "Export to Excel" button from ribbon, all item's attached files link also appear in excel worksheet file.
What can i do to prevent this?

It might be a couple which you can easily delete
By design, you can only export items and if you plan to export attachment or attachment url's. See some ref links here:

  • WAD 70 - Export to Excel 2010 doesn't work as expected

    Hi Friends,
We're rolling out Office 2010 and are facing several problems with BW Interfaces.
    I've to solve this:
Runing Office XP Export to Excel ran without problems. After pressing standard button
    https:/....../portal/prtroot/com.sap.ip.bi.web.portal.integration.launcher url was called and
    an open/save dialog appeared.
Office 2010 : System asked for a certicate. I added VeriSign Class 3 Public Primary CA
according to SAP note 711648 (not knowing a better way, being aware it's valid for 3.5)
This ffinally worked, but now I have to confirm certicate four times and believe me, that is not very convenient.
    Now my question(s):
Was I right so far and how can I avoid confirmation of certificate in dialog?
Thanks in advance for your response and regards
    Joe

    Hi Martin,
Thanks again. But in my case, there must be a different issue.
Changing macro security didn't change anything visible.
    What' really strange,
starting sexport in the context menu works without requesting certificate,
and adding a new export statement in a button group item also works as
desired. Comparing 'new' and' old' xhtml code, I'm not able to see any dufferences.
Will open a new athread with this subject, if necessary.

  • Excel 2013: Lost VBA Code From Excel 2010

Just upgraded from Office 2010 to Office 2013.
Tried to open several of my Excel spreadsheets created in 2010 with Excel 2013. I have spreadsheets that have VBA to perform several functions and routines.
None of the .xlsm spreadsheets from 2010 work in 2013. I get the following messages:
"The Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macros in this workbook are corrupted and have been deleted. The macro corruption most likely exists in the current file. To recover the macros, open a backup copy of this file if you have one."
    OR ...
"We found a problem with some content in '*******.xlsm'. Do you want us to try to recover as much as we can? If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes."
Clicking Yes does not help. It removes or tries to fix the issue. Under the developer tab, the "Visual Basic" and "Macros" button is disabled.
I tried 3 of my different workbooks. They all get the same error. I went back to an Office 2010 installation and all the workbooks open file - without error, and the code executes.
    Advice?

I'm getting the same problem, but with Excel 2010.
I've created a workbook with macros in Excel 2010 and couldn't run it in two computers with office 2010. The same problem as above occurs:
"The Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macros in this workbook are corrupted and have been deleted. The macro corruption
most likely exists in the current file. To recover the macros, open a backup copy of this file if you have one."
This problem happened with other 2 workbooks with macro. It's curious too that another workbook with macro created by
me is working on these two computers without errors. And, of course, all of the workbooks mentioned works well in the other computers. This problem started when I downgrade the office os this two computers from 2013 to 2010.
None of the solutions proposed above has worked.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

  • 2013 Excel WFservlet.xls check exports to Excel and opens blank Windows 7 Ent

    HI All,
I am trying to work through an issue involving an online check through Accounts payable downloading to a blank Excel document. If the user saves the file it opens as it should but if she chooses to open it, it opens blank. If I go to View>Arrange
All> leave the Tile selected (basically do nothing but click OK) and click OK it opens. I have done an Office repair with no luck and also a complete uninstall then used the office removal tool then reinstalled with reboots in-between and still no change.
This computer is on a domain and I can get the check to export to excel without any issues on another computer so I know it's not her roaming profile. I can get it to work on my machine and others as me, admin and her but on her machine no luck. I have opened

sites in IE. I reset the browser and deleted history with all options selected.
In the beginning I was receiving the error "The file format and extension of ".xls" don't match. The file could be corrupted or unsafe. Unless you trust its source, don't open it. Do you want to open it anyway?" I checked the following
In Windows Explorer Tools > Folder Options > View tab > made sure "Hide extensions for known file types" was unchecked.
    I also did
Open your Registry (Start -> Run -> regedit.exe)
    Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\OFFICE\12.0\EXCEL\SECURITY
Right click in the right window and choose New -> DWORD
Type “ExtensionHardening” as the name (without the quotes)
Verify that the data has the value “0″
    No luck.
If I log into the computer as local admin or my domain account it still opens blank.

  • Error when exporting to Excel for SharePoint 2010 List

We have few users who are getting the following error message when they try to export to Excel from the SharePoint list:
"An operation that uses the database driver could not be completed. If the driver is a Microsoft driver, make sure the driver file isn’t damaged, and if it is, reinstall the driver by reinstalling Microsoft Query. For other drivers, contact
your database administrator or driver vendor.‘
The export option works for me on my machine and also tested it out on other users' machines without issues. The list is currently holds 29763 items.
    1. Created a view that filter the list to show few items, and the user was able to export without issues.
    2. Followed the steps in the following Blog:
http://www.sharepointserverrecovery.com/blog/troubleshooting-problems-when-exporting-sharepoint-list-data-to-excel-spreadsheet-and-fixing-database-corruption/ and the user was able to export the original list.
    3. My colleagues and I don't have any issues exporting to Excel. (Note: even my test account, that does not have any special permissions or members of any SharePoint group(s)).
    4. Some Blog/Forums suggest to increase Threshold limit in Central Admin, which we don't want to do, since the issue only affect certain users.
Any idea on how to troubleshoot/resolve the issue?
    Thanks,
    Yassar

Do they have to export all the information or is a subset of it ok?
Creating an index on the columns that your users interact with the most and then creating views that limit the returned results will be useful.  This will then allow an export.

  • Export to Excel is not working for List View Web Part after filtering using Query String parameters in SharePoint 2010

    Hi,
I am filtering SharePoint list view web part based on Query string parameter and I am doing Export to Excel by using following code.
    <a href="#" onclick="javascript:window.location='../_vti_bin/owssvr.dll?CS=109&Using=_layouts/query.iqy&List=0DC67399-BE11-48F3-ADFC-E911FB8B5845&View=54671412-3EFE-4281-835A-9EF747AE774E&CacheControl=1'"><img

Issue: Able to do Export to Excel when there are no filters applied on list view web part but if applied filters on web part and do export to excel , only header fields are displaying in the excel sheet.
I don't know why owssvr.dll is behaving like that .
    Please share your ideas.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to create hyperlink to export to excel.
The URL to execute the export is as follows:
    {Site URL}/_vti_bin/owssvr.dll?CS=109&Using=_layouts/query.iqy&List={List GUID}&View={View GUID}&CacheControl=1
After getting the GUID, you  need to “decode” the list GUID.
    Replace %7B with {
    Replace %2D with –
    Replace %7D with }

  • I am not seeing export to Excel option in SharePoint 2013 survey (even in the overview view mode)

    Hi
If anyone could point me in the right direction as to what steps to take to enable the export to excel option in a sharePoint survey list.
all other surveys are showing up that export to excel option.
I am not seeing the view dropdown as well which shows up on right (the only way to create new view is through the URL as of now)
    Constraints
Survey already has several responses now so making a new survey is not an option
(I know that when is any custom view is changed to default view and if Overview is made as the default view again this option goes away, but how to get this export to excel option back?)
    Steps taken till now
Checked in SP designer as to which field is set to default and it shows overview as the default.
Checked whether any web part was closed and it seems there was none else closed web part category would've shown up
Saved the existing survey as template both with the content included and without the content (without the content template has the export to excel option showing up)
    Many thanks ,
    Ab

    Aby,
    Do following, it will work
Create a simple list and hit export to excel to create owssvr.iqy file
    Open that file in notepad
Collect Survey list' GUID and View GUID from SPD. You need to change the pointer to test list to survey
Change list GUID and view Guid
    File will contain these code
