ITunes prompted me to install latest update. Install failed and IPhone locked. Got message that indicated IPhone was in recovery mode and needed to be restored. exact same thing happened to me when updating to the 2.02 software, error code 2005. i realized that i was using the cable from my originial iphone. it works to charge the 3G iphone and sync, but apparently not to update software. and they are almost impossible to tell apart.
switched to the 3G cable and all was updated and restored. you would think they would either make the cables compatible or clearly identify them as different.

Check your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can prevent your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.

Portal failed to access remote resource due to network failures

Hi,
We have a portlet that allows users to upload files to a SQL Server database and make it available for other users to access. The portlet code is on our remote servers. Everything works fine in dev environment, but certain files fail in pre-prod and prod within the portal, but work fine when the code is executed outside the portal.
I keep getting this error:
Error - Portal failed to access remote resource due to network failures. Try again later or contact your portal administrator.
What could the problem be?

If the Studio service looks good on the remote server where Studio is installed (check that
the service is started and look in the Studio logs for any warnings or errors), you should
also verify the configuration settings in the Studio remote server object. Is it properly
configured and pointing to the correct remote server?
If so, check the portal servers access to the Studio server via the port specified in the remote
server (default is 11935). You can test this by doing a telnet test on the portal server. In a cmd
prompt (Windows) or on the CLI (Unix), type 'telnet [studioserver] 11935', where "<servername> is
the name of your Studio remote server. The screen should just go blank, meaning that there is
something accepting connections on that port on the given server. (We would hope it's the Studio
app and not another service occupying that port.) If you get "Could not open connection to the host"
or some such similar result, check that the network between the portal and the Studio remote server
is open (ie, make sure there isn't any port blocking or a firewall in place that would hinder the
communication between the two servers).

Laptop Toshiba P50-A-K9M often freezes due to unknown reason

Hi,
My Toshiba P50-A-K9M constantly freezes due to unknown reason. My OS is Windows 7 64-bit.
Initially I thought that it was due to overheating. However, when I enabled CPU temperature monitor I noticed that freezes happen even if the temperature is relatively low (39%).
My second guess was about memory. But Windows memory diagnostics passed without any problems.
I can't confirm it but I've a feeling that it happens on CPU intensive tasks but it's not linked to particular program.
I had freezes while compiling an Android application, other times it was during browsing in Google Chrome... I even had a freeze when only File Explorer and Image VIewer were running in foreground.
Could you help me with this problem?

Try removing one of your memory sticks and run it that way. Try one at a time and in different memory slots to fully test your memory.
Run a boot time virus scan
Run a full disk check to test the hard drive.

The bcp program executes successfully on a local instance of SQL Server.

The error has nothing to do with BCP as such, but it is a connection problem. That is, for some reason you cannot connect to your instance from the VM. I would exect that you face a similar problem if you tried SSMS.
It could be a firewall issue, but prelogin suggests that you reach the instance. But possibly you don't come far enough for the login failure to be recorded. Possibly the instance is not configured to audit login failures.
The message you would see would be similar to

Possibly followed by a a line that details the message. The error number may be different.

Hi All,
We seem to be being plagued by the error below by our SQL Server agent. This happens almost everytime we restart the server that has been running for a day or two.
Our SQL Server Agent uses a none expiring domain credential. I understand that this problem only happens when the profile being used by the SQL Servr Agent has changed (password change). What puzzles me is that the login is A ok and no changes has been made to it's password.
We always resolve this problem by changing the login used in the SQL Server Agent to local and after that, returning it back to it's original domain login. Unfortunately, we cant always do this everytime something goes wrong.
Can anyone please help us shed a light on this? We're using SQL2k with SP3a. Thanks!

Unknown failure on TC and Airport Express

I've got some problems with connecting my TC and Airport express to extend my network.
Both show up in Airport Configuration program, but then give an "unknown failure, please try again" notice.
Tried is several times, but nothing works, even after a hard reset/factory reset.
Anybody got an idea?

I suggest that you back track a bit here when you say that you have problems with both the TC and AirPort Express (AX).
If you power off the AX, is the Time Capsule working correctly?
What version of AirPort Utility are you using to configure things? If you are not sure, click the AirPort Utility menu in the upper left corner of the screen, then click on About AirPort Utility.
Please post back with the version number that you see there.
