2821 Router with wic-1ADSL card

I am trying to verify a code that will recognize a WIC-1ADSL card in a 2821. The Cisco Software tool page shows that 12.4.10 IPVOICE code has support for this but the card is not seen on the router. When I try the enterprise version 12.4.9(T1) It does't see that card either but shows a VPN module??
Does anyone know what release will work? I am replacing 2620 routers (12.3.19) that have these cards in them for Disaster Recovery. I need support for ADSL- Asymetric Digital Subscriber Line support.

  • 2821 Router with EVM-HD-6FXO

    Hi all,
I want to buy a 2821 router with an EVM-HD-6FXO module. The 2821 is running IOS "c2800nm-ipbase-mz.124-15.T10.bin". My question is can I use the 2821 as a Gateway for CUCM v10.5 or if I have change upgrade the IOS to a different version.
    Thanks.

Yes, run SIP or H323 which is version agnostic, even MGCP will work though according to Cisco 15.X code is required.

  • Could Cisco 1701 ADSL Router supports WIC-1ENET Card.

    Hi,
I need advise as to if a Cisco 1701 ADSL router could support WIC-1ENET Card.
My 1701 Router has WIC 0 as ADSL and WIC 1 as ISDN, could the ADSL card be replaced by a WIC-1ENET. I noticed ,that the cards seems to be rivet onto the back of the Router and not connected with SCREWS as other routers would posses.
Could someone advised as to how i can have this router supports 2 Ethernet NICs or what could be your recommendations?
    Thank you,
    Cisco End User.

    Hello,
the WIC-1ENET is supported on the 1701, but, AFAIK, only in slot 0.
It does not support 2 WIC-1ENET cards, only the 1720, 1750, and 1751 do, with a specific IOS release, check out this info from CCO:
WIC-1ENET- Support for two Ethernet WICs
The Ethernet WIC (WIC-1ENET) provides the capability to deploy additional Ethernet port(s) in a Cisco 1700 series routers. The initial release of the WIC-1ENET supported only one WIC-1ENET card in a 1700 router. The new IOS 12.2(2)XJ release offers the option of deploying up to two WIC-1ENET adapters in a Cisco 1720, 1750, or 1751 router. A total of three Ethernet ports can be configured. A typical application that requires three Ethernet ports involves using the built-in 10/100 Fast Ethernet port for LAN segment. One of the WIC-1ENET port could be used for high-speed broadband DSL or cable modem connection. The second WIC-1ENET port could be used for a DMZ (demilitarized zone) environment for deploying public Web servers or FTP servers. Hardware modification is not necessary to use the capability of IOS 12.2(2)XJ. The new IOS software is compatible with WIC-1ENET adapters already installed in 1700 series routers.

  • Cisco 2811 Router with 3 ADSL card and load balancing

    Dear All,
    I have few queries:
    1. Does Cisco 2811 Router support 3 ADSL card?
    2. We are the ISP. I want to do load balancing with 3 dsl
    line on Cisco 2811 Router.
Please send me the linke for this configuration.
    Thanks/Regards
    Atul

    hi
In 2811 you have 4 HWIC and 1 NME you can install 1-port ADSL WAN Interface Cardon the HWIC slots.
Also just enable 3 default (equal cost) routes towards the interfaces which will take care of the load balancing.
if you need more info and inputs do post out with ur requirements along with network topology in place at present..

  • L2TP network server 2821 router?

Can 2821 router with appropirate IOS image be L2TP network server and support 400-500 L2TP simultaneous connections? We want to use access VPDN that uses L2TP as tunneling protocol to provide remote users access to our services and to the Internet.

    Hi Marija,
That's right, the 2821 can be used as an L2TP server (LNS or LAC).
It supports 900 IDBs, which means that you can provide access to around 900 remote-users. Also, it supports a maximum of 880 L2TP sessions/tunnels.

I have some 1600 series routers and was hoping to use them for my Broadband connection.
Is this WIC compatable with the 1600 series router?
What is the required IoS if this is posible?
    Thanks Ian

Ganesh,Thank you for the response, however, that article is for the WIC-1DSU-T1 as far as I can see.I was wanting information regarding the WIC-1ADSL. which does not appear to be recognised in my 1603R routers. Thanks Ian
    Ian,
The ADSL WAN interface cards (WICs) supported on the Cisco 1700/2600/3700 series routers are also supported on the Cisco 1800 (modular), 2800, 3800 series Integrated Services Routers (ISRs).
As per the link it start supported only from 1700 series routers ony.

  • Cisco 3925 router with an ATM E3 card that never goes down!

    Hi all,
We a Cisco 3925 router with an ATM E3 card (NM-1A-T3/E3) configured as below with 1 PVC. we see that the ATM subinterface we created for the PVC never goes down! not even when the WAN link is down! The problem with this is we are tracking the line protocol of the ATM sub interface to have VRRP failover to standby router. But because of this issue only BGP goes down whenever the WAN is down & line-protocol of the Subinterface remains up, the failover never happens & site is down. We can configure VRRP to track reachability of a BGP route as workaround but I would like an explanation or troubleshooting steps to check whats the trouble with current setup?

Your router has some configuration on it already and it would help us give you better advice if we knew what is already in the configuration. So would you post the output of show running-config (if there is sensitive information like addresses and passwords you can mask them out.
Changing the configuration register was a good start. I have a couple questions/observations that may help you get started. I notice what appears to be the same public IP address on Gig0/0 and on multilink. Did you get that address from your ISP? If so what kind of connection do you have to the ISP?
In your description you tell us that Gig0/0 is connected to a small switch, which I assume is for the LAN of your network. But that also is the interface where the public address is configured. So I am confused whether this interface is for LAN or for connecting to the ISP. Can you clarify this?

  • 2811 w/ WIC-1ADSL-I-DG PPPoA issue

    Hello:
I have been trying to test our new office gear prior to move, specifically the DSL WIC card.
It seems I have all the config correct but I fail to negotiate link and I am not getting much info from a debug standpoint leading me to believe: -1- PPP isn't quite set up correctly -2- the WIC is possibly bad.
Would it be possible for someone to review my config since I can find nothing on the web that serves as a decent example of using this WIC card with Qwest?
    DETAILS:
Info pulled from my old Actiontec modem for testing purposes:
    VPI/VCI = 0/32
    DSL Mode = MMODE
    DSL Negotiated Mode = T1.413
    Up/down = 7168/896
    ATM QoS class = UBR
The connection is doing PPPoA, evidently it is using PAP per my ISP (qwest does the local loop, my own ISP the VC termination and routing)
    Cisco 2811 and WIC setup:
    interface ATM0/1/0
description QWEST DSL - circuit id:
    no ip address
    no ip mroute-cache
    shutdown
    no atm ilmi-keepalive
    dsl operating-mode auto
    dsl enable-training-log
    pvc 0/32
    encapsulation aal5mux ppp dialer
    dialer pool-member 1
    interface Dialer1
    ip address negotiated
    encapsulation ppp
    dialer pool 1
    ppp authentication pap
    ppp pap sent-username <username_goes_here> password 0 <passwd_goes_here>
Additionally, it would be helpful if you provided what all the 'Modem States' are. For example, Modem state = 0x8 is in many docs but you don't say anything about 0x3. Its helpful to know all the codes for Modem state if your going to recommend doing debugs of atm events for troubleshooting. Hence, the post to the forum. I can't get link and everything appears to be set up properly.
    Thanks for the insight/answers.

No, I am afraid we don't do ADSL over ISDN. My boss ordered the equipment and I think the reseller wasn't too bright.
So would I be correct that I am going to have to have a WIC-1ADSL or a HWIC-1ADSL?
I see that this ADSL over ISDN card we have currently does support T1.413, but given I can't get link I am guessing that is only T1.413 when over ISDN so I have to use one of the other types of WICs listed above if this is over POTS.
If someone from Cisco or otherwise can confirm that would be great so I can go ahead and get the right card shipped to us ASAP.
    Thanks for the assist,
    -Jeff
Thanks for pointing that out. I suspected it might be the issue but have not ordered or touched many DSL WICs in my day, only the bigger chassis's that terminate the traffic on the provider end.

  • WIC-1ADSL Won't No Shut in 1751V

Installed a new WIC-1ADSL in my 1751V yesterday. It sees the card fine, but I cannot get the IF to talk to the line. SO, I do a debug and get the following:
01:44:29: DSL: No response on write to 0x0
    01:44:29: DSL(ATM0): Could not download ASW_init_3_8_131.bin
    01:44:41: DSL(ATM0): No response from ASW_init_3_8_131.bin
    01:44:41: DSL(ATM0): Unexpected response 0x0 to ASW_init_3_8_131.bin
I am not familiar with this error, nor could I find any indications, other than that a
failure to come up appears to point to an error in framing configuration.
Would you be kind enough to give me some potential pointers on how to best deal with this error? Is the ASW_init a file that would work if I load a new IOS in the machine, and if not, where would it be drawn from?
