2K8 DFSR Replication not working

We moved from 2003 servers to 2008 servers a few months ago, recently we noticed that replication between server1 & server2 is not working, as the initial copy from the primary to the secondary semed ok, but nothing has replicated since. When you run
the health diagnostics in DFS it appears to indicate no issue and all is ok, but nothing is actually replicating from 1 to 2.
when i run dfsrsdiag backlog on either server says there's nothing in backlog. I have a feeling it might have never worked since the initail copy, but found another utility which shows me the below, what does this mean? replciation should be one way server1
to server2
UPDATE:
Dfsradmin Membership List /RGname:Rep_group_namef/attr:MemName,RFName,IsPrimary
Both servers show No to Primary, is this absolutely required? as other servsr with DFS shares have this option of no for all mebers but they are replicating OK

Hi,
If initial replicaiton is finished, it is common that there is no primary server.
Here are the steps to clear database and redo the initial replication. You could first test the step 8 only to see if it could help. If not then try the clear database steps.
1.       Stop and ALSO disable the DFSR service on <ServerA> server (don't just simply stop it)
2.       In Windows Explorer open the specific drive
3.       Right click on the "System Volume Information" directory and select Properties\Security
Note: You might need to select the option for "Show hidden files, folders or drives" and also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" in the folders view options to be able to even see the "System Volume Information" directory.
4.       Grant your user account that you're logged in with (if a member of Administrators group this will also suffice) "Full Control" to the "System Volume Information" directory.
Note: You may get an error on setting security on some files - this is expected.
5.       Open an elevated/Administrative command prompt. Switch to the "<drive letter>:\System Volume Information" directory
6.       Type the command "rmdir DFSR /s"
7.       Enable and re-start the DFSR service on <ServerA> server
8.       We will then set the <ServerA> server as the Primary member with dfsradmin.exe utility –
Dfsradmin Membership Set /RGName:<RG Name> /RFName:<RF Name> /MemName:<Member Name> /IsPrimary:True
Note: Files will be replicated from ServerA to all other targets. So if there is any newer file on other target servers, backup before starting replication.

  • DFSR Reporting " not working correctly

I'm trying to get the following script to work, posted questions at the site but not sure if he is viewing the blog anymore.

Couple of things is not working with Powershell reporting of DFSR, (works in batch file)
    1) The DFSAdmin.exe reports "/Rgname:Domain is not a valid subobject" as I am trying to report on "Domain System Volume".   It doesn't like the " and doesn't like spaces!
    DfsrAdmin.exe Health New /RgName:`"Domain System Volume`" /RefMemName:$ReferralDC /RepName:$ReportFilePath /FsCount:true
Tried to use variable name instead but same result
    $Rgname = "`"Domain System Volume`""
    DfsrAdmin.exe Health New /RgName:$Rgname /RefMemName:$ReferralDC /RepName:$ReportFilePath /FsCount:true
    2) parsing of report file name doesn't work either, I get "Send-MailMessage : Thew device is not ready.
If I do echo ($ReportFilePath+".html"), the result is correct as I replace the variable with result of the echo and it works!
    $ReportFilePath = "d:\Reporting\Reports\Health-report-"+(Get-Date -UFormat %Y-%m-%d)
Send-MailMessage -From $EmailFrom -To $EmailTo -SmtpServer $SmtpServer -Subject $EmailSub -Body "The DFS-R Health Report is attched to this e-mail" -Attachments
    ($ReportFilePath+".html")
The is all on Windows 2008 R2

    I've replaced dfsradmin.exe with showargs.exe in a home lab.....
I get the following result, (missing first ")
    $Rgname = "Domain System Volume"
    /RgName:Domain System Volume"
Changing the variable to following doesn't work either: (add a double quote)
    $Rgname = "`"Domain System Volume"
Re-ran showargs.exe and display is correct but fails with dfsradmin.exe
    Showargs.exe shows:     "/RgName:"Domain System Volume"
DFSRadmin.exe still error out:   The subobject "/RgName:"Domain is not a valid subobject.

  • P2P Replication Not working after DDL Chage has been replicated

    Hi Guru,
I am using SQL Server 2008. And I have configured the DC DR P2P replication for High availability.
In DC i  had dropped one column. after that my replication is not working i am getting "A DDL change has been replicated error" in replication monitor.
In order to resolve this issue i had tried to drop the same column in DR. But still the replication didn't work.
Please help me to resolve this issue.

    Hi,
You have two options to make schema changes to the replicated database.
    1. Drop the replication, make the changes, and recreate the replication.
    2. Make the changes and let P2P replication take care of the changes.
If you drop the column from the table at the Publisher by using
ALTER TABLE <Table> DROP <Column>, the column will also be dropped from the table at all Subscribers.
In this case, the column was dropped in application. I have not tested this situation. I agree with Ashwin. You may recreate the replication to resolve the issue.

  • WAN replication not working for objects

I am trying out the WAN replication example from the Tangosol website. I got the Boston-London example working. However, it seems to only work for simple types like String, int, etc. Objects like hibernate, compressed string are not replicated across. Is more config added for this to work?

    Hi Sham,
In one of environment we are using publish and author server. Custom comments are replicating on Author environment.  We are not using custom workflow or JCR observation.Created one more environment for Production setup where 2 publish and 1 author instance. For this comment are not auto replicated on Author instance.
Default comment modification and comment activation launcher are in place, no change in this. Does it not working due to additional Publish Instance and if so what additional setting will required to address it ?
    Thanks

  • Session replication not working with OAM clusters

    Hi,
We have a enterprise deployment of OAM 11.1.1.5.0, and we are using a cluster or OAM managed servers. Server#A (fano1) hosts the admin + OAM managed server, server#B (fano2) hosts the second OAM managed server.
What we have noticed in general is that when accessing the OAM admin console (on server#A, fano1), we get prompted to login and then we get a "Error 404--Not Found". It seems that we are getting authenticated against server#B (fano2) and our session is not getting replicated to server#A (fano1). After exactly 60 seconds, if we were to simply reload the URL in the same browser window, we can get in. This is with "database replication of sessions" enabled. If I disable that, then I will never be able to login to the admin console.
The admin server logs contain the error message:
    [2011-12-22T16:41:52.471-05:00] [AdminServer] [WARNING] [] [oracle.oam.agent-default] [tid: [ACTIVE].ExecuteThread: '0' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'] [userId: <anonymous>] [ecid: f4a544324f1d0f29:2ccc59c7:13467aaf744:-8000-0000000000000182,0] [APP: oam_admin#11.1.1.3.0] OAM Server request failed: OpCode = 19 [GetSessionInfo], Returned Status = Major code: 71(SessionInvalid) Minor code: 2(NoCode)

One other point is that we are using virtual IPs and each server (Admin + 2 managed servers) is listening to its own virtual IP.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what this could be. My thinking is that coherence based session replication is not working. However I have no way to say that for sure. Is there any way to enable some more logging from either OAM or Coherence that would help verify if sessions are getting replicated or not? I have tried putting the entire system in TRACE:32 but that generates too much data.
    Thanks

  • Reverser Replication not working for 2 Publish Instance

We have setup environment for 1 author and 2 Publish servers.  Configured replication agent and reverse replication agent for both Publish Instances. For custom created comments (Java code from external Portal to create comment node) then reverse replication does not replicate comment on Author Instance. But when I post comment for campaign through CQ publish environment then it works properly. It gets replicated on Author Instance. So can anyone let me know what could be missing part for comments generated through custom java script.

Any idea how to troubleshoot this or possible root causes?

Try Test-CsComputer on the Frontend Servers and the Edge Servers. This should check Windows Firewall exceptions are correct. Then check permissions on your Lync fileshare. You can also try to reinstall CMS Database with the following command (user must be
memeber of CsAdministrator group and sysadmin group of SQL Server)
    Install-CsDatabase -CentralManagementDatabase -SqlServerFqdn CMS.FQDN
    -SqlInstanceName DBInstance -Verbose

  • In memory replication not working

We are using Weblogic 4.5.1 SP5 (I know that is an old service pack -
but this is in a production system and it usually takes a guarantee that
a change will fix a bug before being allowed).
We are clustering two weblogic servers.
In our test systems everything works great.
In our production systems, failover works, but not in memory
replication. With the replication debugging output turned on I see the
              following output:
              <WebLogicServer> WebLogic Server started
              <RJVM> Creating connection to 10.100.35.90/10.100.35.80 ...
(I should point out that this RJVM message only appears on one of the
servers, appears whether or not the other server is running, and
10.100.35.80 is not the IP address of the other server nor of this
              server.)
(Note, it never prints the typical <RepMan>Adding XXXXXX to the cluster)
When a user connects and a session is created, we see the following:
<RepMan>Unable to create secondary for XXXXXXX
              <RepMan>Registered XXXXXX
<RepMan>Get Secondary JVMID returning null for XXXXXXX
              <RepMan>updateSecondary called on unpaired primary
              <RepMan>lookup found for XXXXXX
The second server never outputs any new information.
It's not the code, this works in test, and we have poured over the
configuration, and all configuration files look correct.
The MulticastTest also works in the production system.
              Any ideas?

Looks like they are not in cluster..
double check the configuration and check in weblogic console whether you see both servers under the cluster name...

  • BP replication not working

    Hi Experts,
I tried syncronize the ISU BP data with the CRM BP data. I used the tcode CRMM_BUPA_MAP & selected the option 'Gather Information'.
This method worked in test environments but not workign in the production. What are the other options to replicate the BP data in ISU to CRM

  • Unity Connection 8.5.1 directory replication not working between clusters

Last night we deleted 10 users from one cluster (there are 10 networked together), with the intention of moving them to another site on another cluster.   The users deleted without error, however when we did a search on other clusters the users were still appearing as remote.  We have seen this before and ran the command line to delete the globalusers from each cluster.    We then proceeded to add the users to the destination cluster without issue.  This morning I have noted that none of the other 9 clusters are aware of these new users.  I did push out the directory under intrasite links however it is still in the "in progress" state after 12 hours.
Can anyone tell me what service is tied to this function or how I can restart this process or fix this?  I will open a TAC ticket as I suspect we may need some additional steps as this is not the first directory replication issue we have seen over the years.

Thanks Rob, I did know about this bug and have dealt with it before.  I have been able to workaround this for years now (these clusters deployed 2011), however I have never experienced an issue where the added users did not replicate out to other servers.   Another bullet in my list of reasons why we need to upgrade these versions.

  • ECC-GTS : Partner Replication not Working

    Hi Guys
We are facing problems when trying to replicate master data from ECC to GTS.
    Getting the error message
Of 1 selected partner(s), 0 were processed successfully
    Message no. /SAPSLL/PLUGINR3111
    Diagnosis
Not all partner masters have been processed successfully.
    Procedure
You can access the process protocol in the Legal Service system. This protocol contains more information concerning the type of error that has occurred.
Am sure that there is some changes that needs to be done in the message type DEBMAS, but not sure what i am missing here?
    Thanks
    Carl

    Hi Carl,
That table holds the settings for logging.  You can reach it through configuration, via IMGpath:
    SAP Global Trade Services
    > General Settings
    >> Assign Control Profile for Logging
You should make sure that you have entries for the Business Partner, sub-objects /SAPSLL/BP_DISTR and /SAPSLL/PARMA.  Generally you should assign Profiles MD_BP and MD_BPM respectively, but whilst you are encountering difficulties, it could be useful to assign GN_TST (General: Full Log) instead.
    I hope that helps.
    Best regards,
    Dave

  • DFSR replication stopped between sites after all servers updated (Event 1202)

    Hello,
I'm afraid, i will greatly appreciate any help on this one.
I'm working on it since 2 days without success (I read many thread without help).
    So the fact:
    I have 2 AD (2008 R2) on site 1 and 2 AD (2008 R2) on site 2.
    I have also 2 files servers (2008) on site 1 and 2 files servers (2008 R2) on site 2.
The files servers run DFS system.
DFS Namespace is host on all AD.
DFS Replication and share are on all files servers.
After update all my servers. I got a big problem.
Communication between files servers and AD of site 2 isn't working properly now.
By this fact, DFSR is not working anymore between site 1 (all seem fine on this site) and site 2.
DFSR on site 2, pop this events all time:
    Event 1202 - Source DFSR
The DFS Replication service failed to contact domain controller  to access configuration information. Replication is stopped. The service will try again during the next configuration polling cycle, which will occur in 60 minutes. This event can be caused
by TCP/IP connectivity, firewall, Active Directory Domain Services, or DNS issues.
    Additional Information:
Error: 160 (One or more arguments are not correct.)
    Event 1055 - Source GroupPolicy
The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not resolve the computer name. This could be caused by one of more of the following:
    a) Name Resolution failure on the current domain controller.
    b) Active Directory Replication Latency (an account created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller).
    >dfsrdiag dumpadcfg
    Operation Failed
    >dfsrdiag pollad
    Operation Failed
On ADs site 2, dcdiag /e don't reveal any issue.
I tried to install hotfix ref on this thread (without help) -> https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/7d486eb5-6b03-471c-a4dc-65826e712fc3/dfsr-replication-event-id-1202-the-dfs-replication-service-failed-to-contact-domain-controller?forum=winserverfiles
I don't have issue with DNS (nslookup work fine).
Firewall are disable on all servers.
My problem looks a bit like here (but he don't speak about 2008 R2 - old article) -> blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2011/04/08/restrictions-for-unauthenticated-rpc-clients-the-group-policy-that-punches-your-domain-in-the-face.asp
Any help will be greatly appreciate.

  • DFSR Replication Event ID 1202 The DFS Replication service failed to contact domain controller Additional Information: Error: 160 (One or more arguments are not correct.)

    Hi,
    hummmm...
The client had 1 Server with AD and All Apps, IIS, Terminal Servers (30 device Cal), File Server, SQL2008R2 on it
Task: Install new AD server promote it to DC,  bring in 2nd server, Replicate the File Server (DFSR) on these 2 servers, and demote it to standard server.
    1) Old AD with name "Server" with OS-2008R2 SP1 and is a DC.
    2) Brought in a new server "PrimaryAD", Installed 2008R2, done DC Promo, and added it as Additional Domain controller
    3) Transferred roles from old server "Server" to "PrimaryAD"
    4) Brought in a new File Server replicating server "Backup-Server"
    5) Copied all the data from Server to Backup-server as DFS initial file sync with robocopy
    6) here the problem started, after the copy finished, next morning the "Server" server crashed.....
    7) thank god the data was backed up on Backup-server. but we didnt get the time to Demote the server "Server" and remove AD from it.
    8) Since AD was replicated so "PrimaryAD" was are DC, brought 2nd Server "SecondaryDC" as additional domain controller.
    9) we cleaned up the metadata and used ASIEDIT to clean the remaining stuff.
    10) the "Server" server was formatted and renamed as "Primary-Server" and OS2008R2 SP1 was installed with rest of required apps
    11) so now the PrimaryAD the DC, SecondaryAD the Additional Domain controller, Primary-Server the mail server and File server, the Backup-server, the replicated server.
Now configured DFS Replication from Primary-Server to Backup-server and receive following Event ID 1202
If i Configure DFS Replication as follows
PrimaryAD <<>> SecondaryAD -= Works... no errors...
PrimaryAD <<>> Backup-Server = Creates but Dosent works Event ID 5012, error The DFS Replication service failed to communicate with partner BACKUP-SERVER, Additional Information: Error: 9026 (The connection is invalid)
PrimaryAD <<>> Primary-Server = Dosent creates replication job just hangs,
on primaryad continious Eveni ID 10009, DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer "SERVER" using any of the configured protocols
......something on PrimaryAD is still trying to connect to old corrupt AD server "Server"
No errors with AD replication, SYSVOL & Netlogon shares also working fine and accessible.
    DFS Diagnose report says
    DNS name: backup-server.mydomain.com
    Domain name: mydomain.COM
Reference domain controller: --           (HERE there is NO DOMAIN CONTROLLER mentioned)
    IP address: 192.168.1.248,192.168.1.251,::1
    Site: Default-First-Site-Name
Forgot to mention, gave full rights with ADSIEDIT to DFSR-LocalSettings  for all server to Administrator and read permissions to "Authenticated Users"
    DFSRDIAG POLLAD throws following error
    c:\Dfsrdiag pollad /verbose
    [INFO] Computer Name: BACKUP-SERVER
    [INFO] Computer DNS: Backup-Server.mydomain.COM
    [INFO] Domain Name: mydomain

[ERROR] PollDsNow method executed unsuccessfully. ReturnValue: 12 (0xc)
[ERROR] Failed to execute PollAD command Err: -2147217407 (0x80041001)
Can anyone point me to any direction which can lead to resolution of this ERROR and make DFS_R work..
    Thanks
    bikram

    Hi,
It seems that DCPROMO did its work without complaints, still the DFSR references remained in AD. You could refer to the article below to clean up the DFS Replication object.

  • Push replication on start up of a new node is not working

Say, if one cluster alone is started initially and there are few elements added to it and then I start the second cluster with push replication enabled.
How do I load the already added elements in the first cluster to the second one ?
This is not working in my current setup. Is there any special config that I need to add?

By default Push Replication only replicates entries as they are added to a system.  If Push Replication is not configured initially, is started in a "stopped" mode instead of "suspended" mode, the initial entries will not be replicated.
The easy solution to this is to start Push Replication in "suspended" mode.
    Hope this helps.
