3.1EA2 Old bug with German language settings still exists

In the past I wrote several times about a bug in SQL Developer when running in German language mode. This bug is still not fixed in 3.1 EA2:
In new folders for user definded reports only the options "Kopieren" and "Speichern unter ..." ('Copy' and 'Cave as') are available, when SQL-Deverloper runs in German language mode. Other options like "Bearbeiten, Neuer Ordner, Neuer Bericht, Ausschneiden, Einfügen, Löschen" (Edit, New Folder, New Report, Cut, Paste, Delete) are missing. A workaround is to force language to English with the line
AddVMOption -Duser.language=en
in sqldeveloper.conf

I have some hope, that my problem finally got noticed by the developers.

Problems with the system decimal point with german regional settings

I have a Labview 6 app that needs deploying to Germany.
My app sends strings over VISA RS232 and GPIB instruments with floating point numbers.
When changing from English to German regional settings, in Windows XP, periods are now interpreted as commas and the app starts truncating my decimal numbers. So in the English Regional Setting when I send 1.234 I get 1.234 but in the German Regional Settings when I send 1.234 I get 1.000.
I have turned off the "Use localized decimal point" in Tools - Options - Front Panel as well as set any function (Frac/Exp String to Number) that has a "Use System Decimal Point" connector to FALSE.
Now here's my problem....
This fixed the issue I was having as long as I am in the development environment, however, once I build the application I still get the truncated numbers. Example: I send 1.234 to an instrument and it sees 1.000.
Again this works fine in the development enviroment, sending 1.234 reads 1.234 with German regional settings.
Any help is appreciated.

You can use a simple function of the "Scan from string" function.
Place "%.;" (Without the quotes) in the scanning string, and this will tell LV to use a decimal point for interpretation. If you place "%,;", this will tell it to use a comma.
You can place this at the beginning of your format string, and it simply tells the parser how to work, it doesn't otherwise produce an output.
Using simply "%;" sets the seperator to the system default (maybe the best idea after the code has been run as the changed decimal point character apparently remains changed otherwise). From the LV help
The following codes control the decimal separator used for numeric output. These codes do not cause any input or output to occur. They change the decimal separator for all further inputs/outputs until the next %; is found.
%,; comma decimal separator
%.; period decimal separator
%; system default separator

I believe that this issue is already being investigated but you could also send a message to iTunes Feedback in the hope that the development team will get an idea of how many users are affected.
I presume you've already attempted to repair/reinstall the application in case that helps, if not try again and let us know how you get on.

'ServerProperty' with 'Name' = 'Language' does not exist in the collection

LS,
One of my customers (using ssas 2012) is facing collation issues which result in missing facts in the cubes. I suggested them to have a look at the Analysis Server Properties. Howevere, on selection of the Analysis Services Properties page 'Language-Collation',
it doesn't open the page showing the properties, but instead the following message pops up:
'ServerProperty' with 'Name' = 'Language' does not exist in the collection
Any ideas on what could have caused this and how it can be fixed ?
We're considereing a restart of the SSAS server, but need to be very carefull because it's their production environment.

I am also experiencing this error when clicking on the Language/Collation page of the Analysis Services Properties dialog.
I suspect this is causing some other strange behavior such as an "invalid characters in hierarchy names" error when deploying an SSAS database, when the same solution/project can be deployed successfully from other machines. In that case, there are parenthesis
in the attribute name but no user-defined hierarchies. Error:
Errors in the metadata manager. The name, 'Project ID (Description)', for the cube hierarchy is not valid because this name is a reserved word, contains one or more invalid characters (.,;'`:/\*|?"&%$!+=()[]{}<>), or is longer than 100 characters.
I would like to avoid having to re-install SSAS if at all possible. Any help is much appreciated.

I have this message/error/exception in payment run job log.

Symptom
In the list of exceptions RFZALI10 or RFZALI20, vendors with a debit balance are listed with item indicator 006 "no valid payment method". Before the upgrade, these vendors were output correctly with´ item indicator 001 "No pymt possible because items with a debit bal. still exist; see job log".
Cause and prerequisites
The precondition for the occurrence of the symptom is that you have implemented Note 150631 in its first version or via Support Package 18 (Release 4.0B) or 02 (Release 4.5B).
Solution The error is corrected with Support Package 21 for Release 4.0B, or Support Package 04 for Release 4.5B. An advance correction is available. To do this implement the additional source code corrections in the attachment to Note 150631.

Hi Experts,
I have vendor line items Rs 25000 alongwith that credit memo Rs 5000 with document type RI (RI- MM Invest invoice). However when we execute the payment run for this venodr it has gone into error "No pymt possib because items with a debit bal.still exist; see job log". When We replicate a test case with document type RE ( RE-MM invoice ) it was allowed to reallocate credit memo value againt the invoice, but same is not happening with credit memo with document type RI.
Both the credit memo(RI and RE) created against original purchase order, however when we create the credit memo with document type RI, Invest ID checked automatically in line item level. Is invest ID is causing for an error .
Please somebody help me on this.

In this case payment program is selecting credit memos with document type RI (RI- MM Invest invoice) as wells as document type RE ( RE-MM invoice ).
In my test case I have created two credit memo reference to purchase order via transaction code MIRO with different document type RE and RI. If I take document type RI (RI- MM Invest invoice) invest ID is automatically checked at line item level 1 of the accouting document( ie vendor line item level).
And I have created one more credit memo with document type RE with reference to same PO, Invest ID is not ticket automatically at document line item level.
When we ran payment run vis F110, there is no issue with credit memo with document type RE, because I can reallocate credit memo value against the orignal invoice value, however in case of credit memo with document type RI going into exception F110 No pymt possib because items with a debit bal.still exist; see job log.
It is seems that because of substitution rule assigned to document type RI with K (Vendor ) Invest ID is automatically picked in the document line item level.
Please let me know if you have any input on this issue.

I am getting a Vendor in the exceptions list in F110 with the message: No pymt possible because items with a debit bal.still exist.
The Vendor has a Debit balance. There are 3 invoices (total 50,000 INR) and 1 Debit memo (52,000 INR).
Is there any way that I can block the Debit memo and make a payment of 50,000 INR?

Put the payment Block A in the Debit line Item.
F110 wil then ignore Debit item and pick the credits for payment

Windows 8 installation failure with German language pack

Hi,
I have a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E330 with Windows 8. We just received it over Xmas - nice product. Just one Thing so far: I can't get the German language pack installed. Language, Keyboard layout and other regional Settings are set to German. After downloading the German language pack through Language->German->options->Download and Install Language pack (German Language Pack - Windows 8 for x64-based Systems - (KB2607607) [de-DE_LP])I always run into the following error during the Installation (download seems to be fine, error happens after about 2/3 of the Installation - if you believe the Progress bar). From the Event Viewer:
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070002: German Language Pack - Windows 8 for x64-based Systems - (KB2607607) [de-DE_LP].
I already tried quite some stuff without success: no pending Upgrades, several reboots, switching off Firewall/anti-Virus, selective reboot just with Winodws Services and Startup stuff, ... No success.
Does anybody have seen a similar Problem? Anybody with a solution to get the German language pack finally installed?

Time fields disabled with german language package (Work Manager 6.0.0)

Hi all,
I detected a problem with WorkManager 6.0.0 on SMP 2.3 SP3 on the german language packet. The fields hours and minutes are disabled and can't be selected at any position where it is possible to select the time. I assume it is some sort of timezone error, but to make sure I removed the german umlauts to check if it's an encoding problem.
If I switch back to English the fields are clickable again.
Has anyone a suggestion how I can fix this problem.

How compare a word in en language with german language

Hi All,
I have one requirement. i.e. i would like to search for the german words in any kind of program(i.e.executable, dialog, include, function module etc..). For this i need to read the program line by line and find the number of lines. After that, i will split each line into words, and compare each word with german word ( or test wheather the word is in english or not?). Finally display the words which are not belongs to engilsh or display the appropriate message.
Anybody came across this kind of requirement pls help me how to write code for the above. Please send me the code if possible.

You can try that will the following statements.
READ REPORT and SCAN.
With READ REPORT , you can upload your report into an internal table and then
using SCAN you can break that internal table into TOKENS.
You can check the internal tables returned by the statement SCAN. You will be able to get the report broken into different internal tables.
Then you can compare the words for ENGLISH and GERMAN.

Cannot renew code signing certificate - maybe bug with german Umlaut?

Since one month I expierence a message that I should renew my code signing certificate and today I thought it is time to stop this message.
Because I could not find anything about renewing the certificate in Mountain Lion I used the KB-article that discribes the process for Lion.

after that I get this in at my terminal:

when I press return I get this:
/Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/sbin/certadmin Cannot find the certificate: myserver.domain.de Signierungszertifikate für Code
I checked it again and again - I cannot find any typo or something like that - so maybe Mountain Lion wants to renew the certificate in a different way or certadmin cannot cope with german "Umlaute" - "für" - in english for - but I did not gave this name it was given by the system when I setup the server one year ago.

I am stupid - I read the KB article again and there it says
"When entering the hexadecimal serial number, ensure that all letters are entered in lower case."
I retyped the command with lower case hex numbers and everything was fine

Keychains bug with german umlaut

Recently i found a strange behavior within keychains. If the name of a keychain contains a german umlaut e.g "geschäftlich" i'm not able to activate sync keychain with .mac. i set the marker at "sync keychain with .mac" and click save. When i open the keychain settings again the dotmac setting is again NOT enabled and the keychains don't get synced.
If i make a new keychain "geschaeftlich" which contains the same items as "geschäftlich" everything works fine.
As far as i remember keychains worked with "umlaute" until at least 10.5.2

JVM bug with Turkish locale settings (windows)

Hello,
There is a serious bug in all versions of java virtual machine. When you set your locale settings to Turkish language, you can not install & use database driven java applications (that needs to create a database). For example; you can't install oracle 9i or 10g, ORA-12560 arises in database creation phase; and you can't install Readerware (a book cataloger), it locks-up in database creation phase, too. Ofcourse when you change your language to English or another language the problem goes away.
I found that the source of the problem is JVM's wrong character mapping. It fails to convert Turkish and English "i" and "I" characters correctly (they're different in Turkish).
Is there anybody to fix this issue in the next release ?

Photoshop Layering Bug with Multi-language discs

I have searched and couldn't find information regarding this problem.
I am in the process of converting projects created in DVDSP1.52 that were multi-lingual and used layered menus created in Photoshop. Projects are moved into DVDSP3.02 where the language tags for a language menu are reset so they will work properly.
When projects are converted in DVDSP3.02, menu layers behave normally until I change the languages outside of the Simulator. As soon as this is done, the layers ALL turn on. I can reset them to their proper settings manually but the settings will not hold.
This isn't really a problem as long as I have the disc behaving EXACTLY the way I want it to in DVDSP1.52 before translation and I don't need to overhaul some other aspect of the project that would require me to toggle the displayed languages.
However, I forsee a point in time where I will have to work on this library further and the translated projects would be my starting point.
Has anyone experienced these issues?
Does upgrading to DVDSP4 resolve this bug?
