3 hour time difference

I purchased the iphone while out on the west coast and returned home and when I sync my phone to my computer there is a 3 hour time difference from what I have typed on my appointments on the phone to what appears on my icalendar. When I try and correct the time on either device it changes the appointment on the other by the three hours. Oh what to do?

If you are syncing your iPhone calendar events with iCal, do you have Time Zone Support enabled with iCal, and do you have Time Zone Support enabled with your iPhone?
If yes, confirm your time zone settings on your Mac at System Preferences > Date & Time under the Time Zone tab.
And on your iPhone at Settings > Mail > Contacts > Calendars under the Calendars section > Time Zone Support.

I am having multiple issues with syncing my iphone calendar and outlook calendar on my laptop
I mostly enter the original items on my laptop
There are often 1 hour time differences in the entries on the 2 devices and sometimes events that have been amended are not updated on iphone

This sounds like an error in Time Zone support. The time zone needs to be the same in Outlook as well as the phone.

  • One hour time difference between Palm and Exchange calendar items

Calendar items on Exchange and Palm are off by one hour.
Exchange server, desktop PC and Palm are all set to PST with the same time. Versamail account on Palm has been deleted and rebuilt.
    See screen shots at http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/kPKBDS28rhdVsextLM1PPQ?feat=directlink
What is interesting is the appointments entered in Outlook show up on the Palm one hour early however they show the correct time in (parenthises) so the Palm seems to be somewhat aware of the problem.
This same issue occurs on different Palm T/X 's with different Outlook accounts.
    Any suggestions are welcome

Why is the time different between Mac OS X and Windows XP on my computer?
The Windows XP and Mac OS X operating systems handle your computer's date and time information differently, so the date and time may be different when you switch operating systems. For best results, use a network time server and resync the date and time whenever you switch operating systems. In Mac OS X, use the “Set date & time automatically” option in the Date & Time preferences. In Windows XP, click the Update Now button in the “Date and Time Properties” control panel.

"I found a better solution to this whole thing. The problem with the Windows clock being off is because the hardware clock (the one on your actual motherboard) is being set to "Universal" time, or GMT, when you shut down your MacOS bootup. When you boot Windows, Windows assumes your clock is set to your local timezone because that's what Windows does by default. This explains why the people who set their MacOS clock to GMT got the right time in Windows... If the hardware clock is being set to "GMT," when it's actually the local time, Windows will pick this setting up as local time as it did before.
To fix this, you need to add a key to your Windows system registry to tell Windows that your hardware clock will always be GMT.
    * WARNING: Editing your registry improperly can render your Windows installation inoperable. Proceed VERY carefully. I am not responsible if you mess something up. *
The short solution for people who know how to edit the registry:
A DWORD key called HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation\RealTimeIsUniversal needs to have the value of "1"
The step-by-step solution is as follows:
    1. Boot Windows
    2. Click Start --> Run and type regedit. Click OK
    3. The Windows Registry Editor should pop up. Navigate within the explorer to:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation
    4. Click on the TimeZoneInformation "folder" from the navigation pane if you haven't already done so.
    5. This assumes the correct key doesn't exist. If it does, you will just change the existing key's value: Right click on the white space within the folder (If you don't have a right mouse button, you may need to download a program called applemouse to emulate the "control-click" of the apple 1-button mouse). Select new --> DWORD Value. Title the key "RealTimeIsUniversal" (No quotes). Set the value to "1" (No quotes again). Hexidecimal should be fine.
    6. Either reboot and set the clock in MacOS or set the clock in Windows. You should now be able to reboot into either OS and have a correct clock."

  • Synching iphone with iMac gives 7 hour time difference in iCal

When I input events in my iPhone they often come out 7 hours later on the iMac in iCal, and then seem to end up back in the iPhone 7 hours later than intended. Real nuisance since I seem to have meetings at 3am the next day when they are supposed to be at 8pm the previous day! Any ideas?

On a separate thread I was advised to check the time zone setting on the iPhone. Even though the clock displays the correct time for my time zone, it turns out that the time zone was not correct (out of the box). When I reset it to Cupertino, all the calendar entries reset to the correct times.

  • ICal and Entourage - 10 hour time differences - HELP!!

I am using Entourage 2008 and syncing with my Simbian PDA using iSync (and iCal). This has worked perfectly for over 6 months. Not one issue.
Since installing SL, iCal is now synchronising with my phone at GMT rather than GMT+10 (so the comment about the NZ version is not far from the truth!).
Is there a fix for this?
How do I back out of SL and return to my previous untroubled existence?
    Thanks in advance

That sounds like a time zone issue.
Go to the main menu of your iPhone->Settings->General->Date & Time and check to see if the time zone listed is the same as your mac.
In that same area, I had to turn the TimeZone support off, sync with my mac, turn it back on again, then sync again. However, BEFORE I synced in that last step, I chose the option to overwrite the calendar on the iPhone with the information from my mac. That option is found in iTunes.

  • Time difference in hours

    Hi,
I have 2 dates in my table in the "22/12/2008 12:20:00 PM" format. Can you please help me to find the time difference in hours excluding saturdays & sundays using SQL.
    Thanks for all your suggestions.
    Sharan.

    Hi Sharan,
if i well understand you want to calculate the difference in hours between 2 dates, excluding saturday and sunday hours (a sort of working hours, if we worked 24 hours per day from Monday to Friday :) ).
If this is the case and you have the two dates in two columns on the same record have a look at the following query
(Satyaki gave a solution if you have dates on differnt records):
    select id
          ,d1
          ,d2
          ,case
           when trunc(d1,'iw') != trunc(d2,'iw') -- dates in different week
           then
              ((trunc(d1,'iw')+5)-least(d1,trunc(d1,'iw')+5))*24 -- first_week
             +((trunc(d2,'iw'))-(trunc(d1,'iw')+7))/7*5*24       -- middle_weeks
             +(least(d2,trunc(d2,'iw')+5)-trunc(d2,'iw'))*24     -- last_week
else -- dates in the same week
             (least(d2,trunc(d2,'iw')+5)-least(d1,trunc(d1,'iw')+5))*24
           end as working_hours
    from dates
;Below you can see an example (I am assuming that d1 is always lower than d2):
    SQL> alter session set nls_language = 'AMERICAN';
    Session altered.
    SQL> alter session set nls_date_format = 'dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi:ss';

    Hi All,
My date and time format is like: 2013-12-24T10:47:38 and have three fields Start date, End date and Actual time taken.
If start date and end date filled then actual time taken field should automatically should fill, for example 2 days 12 hours 48 min 3 sec.
    How to achieve this?

  • Stopping a while loop using the time difference of two tick counts

    Hi Guys,
I'm currently writing a code which test how long does it take for a formula node to perform its operation. The program uses a while loop to perform the calculation, and the program stops after calculating when tick count has reached 10 seconds. The program then displays the number of iterations it does in 10 seconds.
So initially I created 2 frames of sequence structure. In my first frame I have my initial tick count, and in my second frame I have my final tick count and the while loop. I used the subtract function and divide the output by 1000 to get the time difference. Then using the comparison function, I set if output > 10 then the program should stop, to do this I linked the output of the comparison function to the stop button inside the while loop.
However, when I tried to run the code, the program just didn't run. Hence I created a similar program which puts the last tick count in new frame sequence. When I ran this code, the program never stopped.
Do you guys have any idea what went wrong with my codes.
    Thank you!

In both VI's the stop terminal of the while loop is controlled by a boolean whose source is ouside of the while loop.  So that loop will either run once, or run forever, depending on the value of the boolean that is calculated before the loop starts and shows up at the tunnel going into the loop.

  • Calendar time difference

Hi, I have a problem, when I sync my Nokia 6300 with my Outlook calendar the appointment time gets changed on my phone to an hour earlier somehow. It has only recently started doing this, it was fine before. I would appreciate any suggestions. Many thanks

check to see that both your computer and your phone are set in your correct time zone. If they are not the same the phone could be trying to make up for the time difference by altering the alarm times by an hour.
You do not say where you are so I cannot give you your exact time zone.
Have you removed your battery from your phone recently and had to reset the time perhaps? This might have caused the problem

  • 1/2 Hour Time Shift in the Map Module

A quick search didn't find anything, but this was mentioned on the Lightroom channel on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I662DDxQQUI).  When working with tracklogs in the map module, LR allows one to timeshift the data to allow for time zone changes between the camera and the GPS receiver creating the log (‘Set Time Zone Offset’ in the Tracklog dropdown menu).  However, some countries like Canada (Newfoundland) and Australia have 1/2 hour time zone shifts as well as one-hour time zone shifts, so it would be a good idea to have the shift broken down into 1/2 hour increments.
    Mike.
Update: I just had another look at this, and while the slider moves with the mouse in one-hour increments, one can manually type in an offset of whatever time, so 3.5 hours for example is possible.  Never mind!!
Leaving this here in case anyone else is wondering...

Check if "Time Zone Support" is turned on. If it is turn it off.
Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars->Time Zone Support (down at the bottom).
When this feature is on it displays even dates and times in the time zone selected for calendars. This must be 2 hours difference in your case.

  • Time difference

    Gurus,
I need to write ABAP code in my transformation which will calculate the time difference in seconds.
I have a start date, start time and end date, end time.I need to calculate the difference in seconds.
Can any one give me the ABAP code.I am using BI 7.
    Regards,
    Sunita

    Hi,
    Can you please elaborate??
what time units does your start time has??
Is it in hours?minutes? or seconds?
    first calcuate days difference:
In the routine include all the four fileds: Start date, start time, end date, end time.
I pressume them as P,Q,R and S respectively.
use FM  : HR_99S_INTERVAL_BETWEEN_DATES to calculate the difference of days between the two dates
after u get the days difference multiply with 2460*60.
and if u can tell me the format of the start times and end times then i can write the code for the difference as well
