3 way switch

Hi,
I have created a 3 way switch using slider (Top:Increment, Middle:Idle and Down:Decrement).
Requirement: when we move the slider from idle(default) to increment position (until release the mouse) the slider should be at increment position and whenever release the mouse it should coma back to idle , same process required for decrement.
I have made the same using Event structure and mouse release event . Some time,Its working fine and some time its getting stuck at increment/decrement position after releasing the mouse .
I am not ableto find, why its getting stuck at increment/decrement position?
I have attached the VI. Plz find the attached vi and let me know if you found some thing.

It does not appear you are accounting for all cases you need to worry about. I would suggest you write a state diagram for the different states the control can be in, then detail what can cause a transition to the other states. Note that any mouse event can occur at any value of the control, so you need to control value to determine what the current state of your control is. Fortunately, with local variables, this is easy. You should be able to manage this behavior with mouse leave and mouse up events only. No need for the extra loop at the bottom.
Note that you can process multiple events for the same control in the same event structure (e.g. mouse up, mouse down, and value changed). In fact, you can put them all in the same frame of the event structure, although this would not help your current problem.

IMac MiniDisplay to VGA stops sending signal to Analog Way switcher

We have 3 iMac's, all running Yosemite (10.10.1), that we've recently installed with MiniDisplay to VGA adapters. We've run the VGA's into individual Analog Way switchers that also have Apple TV's and DVD players hooked up to them as well. The issue we're having is that though the Mac sees the "secondary display", the switcher is unable to see signal after waking the iMac from sleep. If we unplug and replug the MiniDisplay port adapter, it will re-detect the displays and the switcher will see signal again.
We are also not able to go up to 1920x1080 even though the switcher supports it and other devices send it.
Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Apple has a minidisplay to vga adapter which i'm assuming will work.

Would it be better to use vga or composite for watching movies and using the computer through the projector?
The iMac is not able to connect via composite cable at all. VGA, Mini Display Port, and HDMI (through adapter) are the only types of cabling that will work. Keep in mind that composite is the absolute WORST video quality you could hope for. Here is the scale from worst to best...
Composite, S Video, Component, VGA, DVI/HDMI/MDP (these last 3 are essentially the same quality)
Is there such thing as male-male vga cable and would it send the signal properly from the imac to the projector?
Yes, they are extremely common, and it will work fine. I would be surprised if there wasn't an extra cable of this sort already in the projector bag. It is standard gear for all of my office's projector sets.
Is there any other way to link these two devices up? Component switch or wireless transmitter?
The best connection you can make with the powerlite 77c is through VGA.

Whats a good way switch between a real and mock data service?

I have a new Flex application...and am contemplating the use of the Mate mock remote object capability.
However, I'd like the application to be able to switch back and forth between a real and mock data service without recompilation. And without loading the mock service objects unless they are needed.
Whats a good way to handle this switching without recompiling the application?

The only way I can think of not having ANY mock services in the production code is to take them out manually. Your program for mocking purposes is going to have to be able to know where these services/object are and how to contact them. I'm sure if it had to be done , you could use some mass of modules and event maps.

Three Way Switch not working

Hi, i just bought a 4th-gen shuffle, and I've been using it with satisfaction since Saturday. Then yesterday i finished to listen to some music and I wanted to turn it off, so I slid the switcher to the right. The problem is that it won't turn off, no matter where I drag the slider, I'm still able to play music with it...
I'll try to restore it as soon as possible, cause I can't even try to reset it via turning it off...
Any clues? Thanks in advice

I have Magic Mouse and single finger swipes do not work in either direction. (I don't have Laptop and track pad to test further.)
Actually changing it from the Browser Single Finger "Scroll" to "Swipe" with two fingers solved this.

You do lose access via Swipes to Full windowed apps. (you have to click the DOCK)
I find that then I do have access up a d down the list of open Chats.

Problem with switch

Hi,
I have a problem using switch statement.
I have a class named Resources in which I declare all the final variables.
I have created an instance of Resources named res in the main class.
But I cannot use the final variables in the main class in the following way:

Here is how the Resources class looks like:

(3GS) When my ringer switch is on silent/vibrate, if anything touches or slightly brushes up against it, it vibrates constantly as if I am constantly flicking the switch on and off.

It's getting to the point that when I am walking, my phone just vibrates constantly as the switch is touching the inside of my pocket. Is this a problem I need to sort out at the apple store or is it just software? If so, what do I do?

Despite the switch being on the silent position, it's not on silent.
Oh, and by the way, switching it on and off again doesn't work.

you cannot set focus on a subform but on a field, as only interactive objects can be focussed.
From a dropdowns exit event the script will look this way:

IPod Shuffle will not install or connect to iTunes!

I recently got a Toshiba laptop so had to transfer everything from my old laptop to there. As expected I re-installed iTunes and install my iPhone 4S, iPod Classic, Touch & Nano all work fine. However, my iPod Shuffle 3rd Gen (the one with no buttons) will not install its driver to my PC or connect to iTunes. I dont have a clue what is wrong as when I plug it in it charges with the light and it plays music thats on it from my old laptop fine! The only onboard button is the 3 way switch (OFF/REPLAY/SHUFFLE).

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Airport extreme. XP outlook can no longer connect

Since October My wife and I can no longer connect to our office servers using outlook on PC's via Airport extreme wireless. Both our g5 and g4 have no problems.
The PC's indicate excellent signal and status says "connected "thru our VPN connections to the office.
Both PC's suddenly stopped working this connection thru outlook and the internet.
I noticed many discussion people are in the same boat.
What happened?
Seems odd this is not getting much remedy information.
Sounds widespread.
Are there truly any technical resolutions?
I suspect something in the latest XP updates, CAT login patches etc.
My IT office guy is an amazing craftsman and he could care less about a Mac router.
They ("Windows" OS people) are so sure of themselves...little hope they might suspect there own equipment.

Two things to try:
...Ensure the appropriate NLTM authentication is enabled? Probably NLTMv1.
Server Admin -> Open Directory -> Settings -> Policies -> Authentication
...Ensure that the Microsoft Windows XP clients have a compatible authentication requirement?
This security settings authentication downgrade is set via an msc widget on the higher-budget Microsoft Windows XP variants, or directly via the LMCompatibilityLevel registry knob available within all Windows variants.
With the upper-budget Windows versions, you can run the secpol.msc tool, navigate to Local Policies - Security Options, then to Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level, then (if the box is set this way) switch from "Send NTLMv2 response only" to "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated".
On all Windows XP versions including the lower-budget versions, you can use regedit to switch the HKEYLOCALMACHINE\ SYSTEM\ CurrentControlSet\ Control\Lsa registry key value LmCompatibilityLevel to 1

After 10.6 Upgrade - XP clients can no longer connect

Just upgraded my server from 10.5 to 10.6.2 and now none of my XP clients can connect via SMB. Can't figure out the issue. They would normally connect via IP on a local network at "\\192.168.80.2", but now nothing happens on the XP side. Just does nothing at all. No login prompts or anything. Anyone know whats going on?

Apple TV not seen by Samsung DLP TV via HDMI input

I have a Samsung HL-R5677W. It's a few years old, but I decided to hook up the following via HDMI
- Playstation 3
- Apple TV
Since the Samsung only has one HDMI, I am using the Monster HDMI Advanced 3-way switcher switch that supports 3 inputs. And I purchased three 4' Ultra 600 High speed HDMI Monster cables ($100 ea.).
The playstation 3 works fine. However, my Apple TV is not being detected by the Samsung. The TV gives me a no or low signal message on the screen. So when I connect the Apple TV directly, the Samsung sees it (signal) and I get video and audio.
Your first thought is that it's the HDMI switcher switch, right!? Nope I unplugged the HDMI cable from the Samsung and plugged it into my Viewsonic N3251 LCD TV (vs11335-1m) and it detects the Playstation AND the Apple TV.... So it's not the HDMI switcher switch.
Oh, and BTW, the Apple TV works fine directly plugged into the Samsung....
Does the Samsung tv have a higher signal level requirement?
Is it the Samsung TV?
Is it the Apple TV?
Is there a better HDMI switch box and/or cable for me to use?
The next hurdle is getting the optical audio to work, if it's necessary. I want to play the audio through my A/V unit not just the TV.... Any suggestions?

There have been many posts on HDMI switch boxes and problems these have. Do a search by entering "HDMI switch box" in the search box (upper right on this page) and look through the posts. That may help you.
As for the optical, can't you connect the optical cable directly to your A/V unit? I do that (with HDMI going to my TV) and that works. (I do have to switch off sound on the TV using its menu.)

Powering down external HDs on an iMac when shut down

Hi to all, hope you can help .....
I recently added two external WD Studio HDs to my iMac connected as a RAID1 array. This was done using the Mac disc utility and without any reference to the pre installed WD software. I also have a separate Studio HD as my Time Machine and since all 3 have a Firewire connection I daisy chained the cable to all 3 devices (the iMac only has 1 Firewire port) since I thought this would be the fastest option. All 3 HDs appear to function correctly, except when I power my system down the drives remain awake.
Before I added the 2 in RAID array the original Time Machine HD did power down automatically when the Mac was turned off, so for some reason the system doesn't seem to want to cope with 3 HDs.
I've checked in system preferences/energy saving and the box for powering down HDs when possible is ticked.
Any ideas / solutions greatfully received, Cheers !!

I'd stick with Firewire. It's faster and I have always considered it more reliable. (It takes a technical discussion to explain why.)
There is no assurance that using USB will make your external drives power down. Again, I want to emphasize that not all drives will power down automatically when you shut down your Mac. Some drives do, some never do, and some have a 3-way switch that allows you to select the power-down behavior. And there may be something about your 2-drive software controlled RAID setup that affects things here.
The energy saver preference item for powering down drives whenever possible applies, I believe, only when the Mac is turned on and idle. (I do not believe it controls powering down external drives when you shut down your Mac.)
Unmounting the drive is as simple as what you wrote - eject it in the Finder. Alternatively, if you have the drive icons on your desktop, you can drag them to the trash to unmount the drive(s). Keep in mind that when you shut down your Mac, it automatically umounts the drives itself anyway.
External drives will automatically remount next time you start your Mac (unless the drive is powered off). If you unmount a drive and then decide you need to remount it while your Mac is still running, you can use Disk Utility. Open Disk Utility, select the drive you want to mount and then click the Mount button.

Basic AV Receiver/FIOS Questions

OK, I know this is basic stuff for most of you, but bear with me as I'm not the tech wizard I always hoped I would be.
I currently have FIOS, A Blu-Ray Player, and a game system connected to my HDTV with individual HDMI Cables going through an automatic switch (whatever device I power on is the what shows up on the TV) - the output of the switch goes to the TVs HDMI input (older tv only has 1 HDMI In connection (don't laugh))
I am upgrading my AV receiver to one that offers 4 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output as well as the usual connections.
Here are the questions:
1. If I connect FIOS to one of the HDMI inputs on the receiver and then the HDMI out from the receiver to the TV - does this mean I must turn on the AV Receiver in order to watch TV? Also, can I use the TV speakers in those instances when surround sound is not needed.
2. If I connect the other components to HDMI inputs on the receiver, I assume I would have to rever to manually switching between sources thourgh the receiver as opposed to the automatic switching I now get from the 3 way switch.
3. If I connect the FIOS box directly to the TV, how can I then take advantage of the surround capabilities of the receiver?
I'm sure I'm overlooking some other questions, but I would appreciate any advice I can get.

1a - Yes, you receiver would have to be on to watch TV.
1b - Depends on your AVR. You may have to switch the audio from the AVR to the TV.
2. Yes. To alleviate this, you may want to look at universal remote, which would set the inputs for you. Logitech's Harmony remotes would work, series 500 and higher.
3- If you TV has an optical out, you could run a digital cable from the Audio Out of the TV to the AVR. This should allow you to take advantage of Dolby Digital 5.1.
When I had the Verizon STB's, I connected the component cables out to the TV and the HDMI to my AVR. That way, I was able to watch TV w/o surround as needed, and gave me the ability to use the Surround Sound when I wanted. The only issue for me was that the STB's would lose their SD Override setting, and cause SD programming to stretch.
