3850-X Wireless Controller Error
I am staging 2 3850X switches in a stack and trying to utilize the wireless controller functionality. When editing a WLAN and attempting to change the Interface/Interface Group I am getting the following error:
"Failed to Set.
Possible error could be with creating flow monitor. Pease check whether the flow record to enable Application Visibility is configured"
I have created a vlan for wireless clients on the switch and am trying to set that as the interface for this new WLAN. I can set it via CLI no problem but if I do that then anytime I try to modify anything in the GUI for this WLAN afterwards I get the above error. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan
Hi Dan,
Under WLAN -> AVC section did you tick AVC ? If you are not using it untick that & see. (Flow records only used for when configuring AVC)
Below gives some config examples of 3850 WLAN, which may be useful to you

I am trying to get an AP to associate with a wireless Controller but keep getting this error message (%CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG:Could not resovle CISCO-CAPWAP-CONTRPLLER)
I can ping through to the WLC and the AP.Thanks a lot Loe for the Feedback. The issue was not my configuration but rather the type of Wireless LAN controller I have, the WLC does not support my AP's. I have a Cisco 520 series WLC and got to know they only work with the 500 series AP's. my AP's are 1130 series meaning i have to get another controller or change the APs.
thanks once again.. -

I have attached show run-config and show running-configFor the public WLAN, what is 10.1.1.1? Is it a real DHCP server, is it a FW? If it's a FW, then you'll need to disable dhcp proxy:
CLI config dhcp proxy disable
GUI Controller > Advanced > DHCp, and uncheck the box for proxy.
As for all of your other SSID, they are all pointd at the management interface. Double check the WLAN config, and point them to the interface you want the user to get an IP address in.

Steve

Hi, in our environment we are having a wireless controller 4402 connecting to foundry layer 3 switch HW: BigIron 15000 Router. the LWAP1252 is connecting to POE switch cisco WS-C3560E-24PD, when this LWAP1252 is brought online i am getting this error message
%CDP_PD-2-POWER_LOW: All radios disabled - INJECTOR_DETECTED_MULTIPLE_MACS_ON_HUB BigIron Router
and the radios are not getting ON, even though the switch WS-C3560E-24PD inline power is manually set to 20w
Please let me know is there any compatibility issue with foundry switch.
thanks in advancethe error:-

Frozen Grey Screen, Verbose stuck at Wireless Controller/ 5.10.38.24
Here's a good one...
Have an imac that was consistently freezing, restarting, etc.
Now, every time we start, it freezes at the grey screen.
The last two lines of Verbose Mode (or single user for that matter) reveal:
wl0: Broadcom BCM4328 802.11 Wireless Controller
5.10.38.24
Then it stops dead.
This is even AFTER a system reinstall.
Would this indicate a bad wireless card causing the issue, or perhaps a bad firewire port (Since that seems to be the next item that WOULD show up in the list), or am I not even close?
We actually had another imac with similar symptoms that is unfortunately apart right now, so I cannot verify the same Verbose sticking points (although the symptoms were identical. Any thoughts?HI Chris,
Check the hard disk with your install disk.
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If you can't boot from an install disk, try Safe Mode. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564

Wireless Controller IOS Version Compatability
Hi Friends,
we are in process of implementing Aruba ClearPassNAC solution, right now we have Cisco Cisco Controllers Product Version.5.0.148.2. Aruba supports only WPA2 Enterprise security which we are unable to find in cisco controllers. There is WPA2 tab but it does not reflect that its personal or enterprise. we tried with WPA2 but it give us error on client side that security type mismatch.
only thing I need to confirm is that whether we have to upgrade the ios version of the controller to ver 7.0.235 to support WPA2 Enterprise. Aruba has recommended that version to be on the controllers but I want confirmation from Cisco..Salam Faisal,
I don't remember if 5.0 version supports WPA2 but in all cases this version is pretty old and it is recommended to upgrade even if WPA2 was supported on it.
7.0.235.0 releaset notes doc shows the upgrade path and it seems you can directly upgrade to 7.0.235.0 image from your current version: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn7_0_235_0.html#wp784198

Wireless controller restarting
Hi,
Wireless controller 5500 is restarting with error
" ENVMON-0-KEEPALIVE: Wlcng_powerSupply.c:280 System is rebooting in seconds: lost heartbeat from environmental controller "
Did anyone came across this error. Couldn't even find it in cisco site.
Regards
venkatHi,
AW: 5508 Controller sporadically reboots due to lost heartbeat to EnvCnt
Bug ID : CSCtr39523
Description
Symptom:
5508 controller may reboot without an output in the crash file.
Conditions:
Console :
fpga: Lost heartbeat from Environment controller, system will reboot in 5
seconds!!!
Syslog server if configured :
%ENVMON-0-KEEPALIVE: wlcng_powerSupply.c:280 System is rebooting in 5 seconds:
lost heartbeat from environmental controller
Workaround:
Downgrade to 6.0.220.0.
More information:
Although the release notes on CCO may state otherwise, this bug is not fixed,
and will not be fixed, in 7.0.230.0, 7.2.130.0, or any runtime image. It is
fixed only by applying a special FUS image, which updates the FPGA,
Environmental Controller, and USB firmware in the controller.
To find out whether your WLC needs to have the FUS image applied, issue the
command "show sysinfo". A WLC with the fixed firmware will show "FPGA 1.7" (or
above.)
The fixed FUS image is now available on CCO (version 1.7.0.0-FUS.)
Description:
Configuration consists of a 5508 controller with no APs/Clients attached. It was noticed that at 12-24 hour intervals that it would reboot on it's own due to "fpga: Lost heartbeat from Environment controller". This was originally seen with 7.0.119.10 and later with 7.0.119.18. The controller was migrated to a different room with no connections at all except the console and it still failed. Version 6.0.202.0 was loaded onto it and it ran without failure for 5+ days so there is some interaction between the 7.0.119.x code branch and this particular hardware.
This failure was origionally found at a customer site and has been seen in the SJ01-AW lab as well. -
Hi!
I try to configure a Cisco 5508 Wireless controller and 25 Air-lap1041 to use as VoIP and data. I read documents, manuals, etc, but the AP doesn't charge the configuration, or not conect with the Wireless Controller, why? No Radius server present, only WPA security.howto, please...
I try to put a static ip in the LAP, with lwapp or capwap command, (LWAPP/CAPWAP ap ip address direccion mascara) and the AP returns "You should configure Domain and Name Server from controller CLI/GUI." and i can't change the name of the AP (Command is disabled).

Hola:
I buy a gigabit switch. I connect the service-port to gigabit switch, and laptop to gigabit switch. I used 192.168.1.x ip address (192.168.1.157 to service-port and 192.168.1.233 to wired port on laptop, well, the laptop has two ip adress, 192.168.1.233 and 209.165.200.2, and the laptop works ok. Ping to 209.165.200.230 -ip address of management interface- and ping to 209.165.200.203 -ip address for AP, is assigned by DHCP of WLC. And i connect the ap to gigabit switch, and the wlc assigns well an ip direction.
I post the run-config and sysinfo log. The gigabit switch is tp-link model tl-sg1005d, no configuration.
Before the logs, I see this message from AP:
*Apr 19 23:10:20.211: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: This AP is not supported in controller
version 6.0.199.4 ---->What's mean that? Is it compatible the ap with the WLC? ¿Es compatible el AP con el WLC?
Hola:
He comprado un switch gigabit.
*Apr 19 23:10:20.211: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: This AP is not supported in controller
version 6.0.199.4 ---->What's mean that? Is it compatible the ap with the WLC? ¿Es compatible el AP con el WLC?

How do I configure the 2504 Wireless controller with AP?
I recently purchase the 2504 wireless controller and the 1602i AP. I was able to do the basic setup of the controller and can now access the web interface, but the AP is not being detected and I am unable to add it.
First of all: 1602 AP need minimum software version on WLC: 7.4.100.0
paste this info:
sh sysinfo from WLC
sh version from AP.
Did you create a DHCP pool for APs to get IP ?
Try to to be keep AP and WLC on same subnet.

I cannot get my IPad2 to print (it cannot find the printer) using a Laserjet CP1525nw color printer across a wireless network using a Cisco 1508 Wireless Controller with 49 wireless access points. HELP!!!!
What is the secret to getting Bonjour to work on it?
I can get the IPad2 to locate the HP CP1525nw printer without a hitch using a low budget Netgear WAG102 stand alone wireless access point on the same network. If it helps somebody, here is what you need to do.
It worked for me, but only in Multicast-Unicast mode.

Managing remote C800 with the wireless controller
We have a number of regional offices throughout the country with a C800 as the Internet facing router and it is also our wireless.
We have a Cisco wireless controller in the Data Center an we need to manage\monitor all the C800, but the problem is that those remote sites
are not VPN'd nor part of our WAN network.
Which setup do you

recommend:
1) 1) WLC to monitor the C800 using its public IP address
1) 2) Create a VPN tunnel from each of the remote sites to our data center and only allow wireless to go through for mgmt purposes
anany other options?
TFirst question is which 800 do you have ? there's like 20 different versions out there.
If you talk about WLC, I would suppose you have something like the 880 ?
I'm afraid the WLC will need the internal AP ip address. So you would need to do so reverse nat to direct public ip address tarffic on capwap ports to the internal AP.
This or the VPN tunnel.

How to change IP adress of wireless controller 2504 . from GUI
how to change IP adress of wireless controller 2504 . from GUI
In the existing setup, does WLC management & APs are on the same vlan ? If that is the case you may have not configured any of the below, as AP L3 broadcast reach WLC & in that way AP will learn about WLC.
If WLC & APs are on different vlan you may already use one of WLC discovery method listed below.
1. DHCP Option 43
2. DNS
3. UDP broadcast forwarding
4. Static configuration
When you change the WLC management IP address, AP need to know what is the new IP & you can modify the configuration of the method you used.

Syslog on Cisco Wireless Controller
Hi everyone
I have question about syslog on wireless controller. I need to know what is information in the syslog from controller. I had read paper in the community some siad it has not much in the syslog but it has not detial what is the information in the syslog sent. I know that almost information such as client, authentication, and much benefit logging in the SNMP. So, anyone have any idea or information please give me the idea or information.
Thanks
VYou just need to setup the sylog and try different logging levels to see if it gives you the information you need. YOu might not get what you want or if you find a syslog level that gives you the info you want, you might get a lot of stuff you don't want to see.
