5s won't start after trying to install iOS 8.2

For maybe a half hour it's been cycling between 3 screens: black apple on white, blue, then black.
Tried connecting to my macbook, but itunes and iphoto didn't autolaunch as usual.
What can i do?

Problem kind of solved. I was able to turn off the phone by waiting until the blue screen came on. Then followed the instructions to go into Recovery mode and Restore (Update didn't work). As the warnings indicate, everything past the last backup was deleted On the bright side (I guess) the new update (8.2) is now installed.

MacBook Pro won't boot after trying to install 10.7.3 update. Start up stalls at Apple logo and spinning gear. Computer won't even start in safe mode.

My daughter's MacBook Pro was doing exactly the same thing.  I don't know if it had anything to do with the latest update.  She called me about a week ago saying that her MacBook began running slower by the day .  She then called me Friday and told me that it wouldn't get past the gray screen and the gear just kept on spinning.  I did everything I could over the phone including Safe mode which it wouldn't go into and thought maybe it was the hard drive.  She took it to the Apple store.  Originally, they also thought it was the hard drive.  It ended up being a corrupted operating system (Lion).  Apple genius simply re-installed Lion and she's back up and running.  Good thing she backed up right before it crapped out.  She'll be restoring everything tonight.  Don't know if re-installing Lion will help your situation, but it did the trick for my daughter.

  • Ipod won't work after trying to install Paid 2.0 update

I bought the 2.0 update for my 16 gig ipod touch. After trying to install the update through itunes half way through the update it gave me the message "The ipod could not be restored. An Unknown error occured (6)." I tried to do a restore on the ipod it it does the same thing. Can anyone help? Now after paying for an update I have an ipod that doesn't work at all.
I tried doing a restore using the old software on a different itunes library and get the same error message.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks Larry

ok i have figured out how to fix this problem!! it is simple. make a new account on your computer. Now use the itunes on that account and just plug ur touch in and restore it. It will restore it to the software 1.1.4 . now just go back to your main account on ur computer and plug ur touch in once again and it will restore it to its original settings and sync all your songs and videos and the rest.
I followed the above instructions. Let Itunes 7.7 set itself up on the new account and downloaded the update. The first attempt didnt work but the second attempt after I rebooted the PC I logged in on the new user and booted up Itunes.
When that had finished faffing about I connected the USB cable into another USB port (above the one its just come out of if you get my drift) and it started extracting the software for Restore then it started prparing the ipod for for restore and then started uploading the software to the ipod in which it had not done it before. As I type it has just finished synching the ipod with my current Itunes library on my default windows account.
I am running the update but will have to enter my contacts details again but hey thats no big deal.
So I hope you all get yours to work.
    Cheers

  • ITunes is giving me a runtime error and won't load after trying to install update

After trying to install the latest update to iTunes my iTunes will no longer work. I've tried uninstalling and re-downloading and still get the same runtime error

    Hello Scottee2hottee,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
For more information on this, take a look at:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

  • How do i get my iphone 5 out of recovery mode after trying to install ios 7

Alright, so i tried to install ios 7 and i got an error saying that the ios 7 update got a problem and so then my phone went into recovery mode. i installed tiny umbrella to get it out of recovery and it worked, so then i tried to install ios 7 again and it got another error this time my phone had already been switched to the ios 7 format but was not completely done, so my phone went into recovery mode again. so i tried tiny umbrella again and it just kept going back to recovery mode. i tried to restore my phone after trying to look for another way to get my phone out of recovery mode and i got nothing so i decided to restore my phone and i then get another freaking error saying that itunes could not restore due to a problem, then i just decided to try tiny umbrella one last time and it didnt work. so i tried to restore again but now my phone is not being detected on itunes so i cant do anything, and my phone is stuck in recovery mode... all i was trying to do is get the new update and now my phone is dead, it wont do anything please help!!

Use tinyumbrella. Connect your iphone, click on the random string of numbers that appears in the recover devices window, and click "exit recovery". That solved my problem, and it may solve yours. Give it a shot.

  • Older Macbook won't start after attempting to install snow leopard

A friend of mine with a pre intel notebook inadvertently tried to install Snow Leopard and now it won't start up.  Any suggestions?

    Hi DOGG,
I'm not sure if he erased...  When you power it up you get the gray screen with the apple logo for a few minutes then it shuts down.  I put Leopard in and pressed the C key while starting up and I got the Installer but my only choice was to erase everything and install or erase and journal or something like that.  It shows that there is 23GB disk space remaining and 185 total so I was hesitant to proceed because it looks like maybe everything is still there.  Then found my old Tiger install disk and tried to start from there and it just kept powering itself off after a minute or two.  I read something about the Tiger install disks were specific to different models so maybe mine isn't compatible?  Anyway, I've asked him to find his install disk so I can try that.  But if it sounds like his hard drive is erased should I just go ahead with Leopard?

  • Quicktime won't start - have tried re-installing

I have installed itunes and quicktime but quicktime won't start. I tried un-installing both and re-installing but still quicktime will not start. When I click open quick time player I get an hourglass for 30 seconds and then nothing happens. I tried installing quicktime without itunes and have the same problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    ahhhh. that's suggestive.
a few more questions aimed at narrowing in on possible culprits.
by any chance, when you attempt to uninstall QuickTime do you get a standalone "fatal error" message?
try launching your QuickTime Control panel. does it launch, or do you get an error message? if you get an error message, what does it say?
have you ever installed an ACE or K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, QT Alternative, or Storm Codec on your PC? if so, which version?

  • IPod won't work after trying to install IOS4; install "hangs"

    Hello,
My son has an iPod touch. It's a month old and bought new, so it would be the latest version. We also have the latest version of iTunes running on Vista.
    The issue . . .
Son was prompted by iTunes to download IOS4. He did this, but when he tried to install it on the iPod, it froze the iPod and iTunes.
We have tried several times to do the install, and on two different computers, but the same thing happens - the install "hangs" at about one-third of the way into the installation.
We also cannot use the iPod at all, because when we switch it on, there's an icon that tells us to connect it to iTunes. And when we do this, we can the hanging issue described above.
Son is distressed. He spent all his birthday money downloading apps for the new iPod, and is worried he may have lost the lot.
I can see from the discussions here that we are not the only ones having this proble. Is anyone closer to finding a solution?
    Thanks.

I fixed this by taking doing the restore/install on a Mac.
It's now working fine on the PC.
Of course, this only helps people who have access to a Mac!

  • My iphone (4) is stuck in recovery mode after trying to install ios 5

I successfully exited recovery yesterday using recboot, but then after retrying to install ios5 it failed again - this time with error 14, and its back in recovery mode and I can't get it to exit with recboot this time.  When I plug it in to my PC, itunes wants me to do a restore - i click the restore button and it takes anywhere between 15 minutes and 3 hours depending on the time! Then completes and does nothing to the phone - no error.  I've tried this again and again but no luck.  My service provider tells me its a problem with the handset and I need to get it checked, but they haven't been reading the apple forums so I'm not convinced!  Any help would be greatfully recieved! Get your money back from the seller, and if you are not immediately successful file a complaint with eBay.
Not all jailbroken iPhones can be fixed. That's probably why it was on eBay.

  • My iPad 1 has stopped working after trying to instal iOS 5. Can you help restore?

My iPad has stopped working after trying unsuccessfully to instal iOS5. All that's currently showing on the iPad screen is a white USB cable with a thick arrow pointing towards the iTunes logo (black double note within a white rimmed circle and a blue background).I cannot switch it off and have seemingly lost everything that was on it.
    Please help!

That means you have to restore the device with iTunes now. So connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and restore the iPad.

  • My iPad, purchased in Nov. 2012 won't start after the most recent IOS update, and it's fully charged. Any suggestions?

My iPad purchased in 11/2012 won't start since updating to the most recent IOS version in 3/2015.
It's fully charged but pressing the HOME button or SLEEP/WAKE button, individually or together doesn't have any effect.
    Suggestions?

If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • IBook G4 won't start after 10.5 install

I just installed 10.5 onto my 1Gz iBook G4. Since the optical drive does not function on the iBook, I used my MBP for the install and mounted the iBook in target mode. I reformatted the iBook HD using a GUID partition table and did the install on the newly formatted drive. When the install was completed, I unmounted the iBook and tried to restart it.
Now, I get a question mark alternating with a folder/smiley face. The drive will not mount/startup. I redid the whole install again, reformatting the drive in the process, and I still get the same thing.
The only thing I can think of is that I can't install onto a G4 from a MBP. Perhaps there is something specific about the install that I need to have the host machine be a PPC. But I didn't think it mattered.
    Any other thoughts?

I never suggested the formatting was the issue.
But the point I'm trying to get across in this answer, in case it will help someone else, is that if you are installing to a PPC machine, the boot machine must be a PPC machine (and vice versa for intel). You cannot boot a MBP and install onto an iBook in target mode. The system will expect the disc to be partitioned as GUID, and it won't install unless you do.
The solution for a computer with a broken optical is to use another machine with a working optical, putting that machine into target mode. Then you can boot off the machine with the broken optical, from the DVD drive on the other machine. Now, your boot machine will be PPC (in this case) and you can install on an Apple partitioned drive.
This is probably obvious to many, but it took me awhile to figure out, and maybe it will help someone else.

  • OracleServiceXE Won't Start After Active Directory Install

    Hello Folks,
Newbie to Oracle but proficient in general I.T. stuff. Client contacted us stating Active Directory role installed on Server 2008 box running as a virtual machine. After which client could no longer remotely access server and subsequently removed Active Directory. Since then, OracleServiceXE will not start and no response on the homepage of Oracle at http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/f?p=4950.
I see many other posts here of troubleshooting that led to reinstall of software. We're OK with that. However, I would like to verify that the customer's database will be able to be reattached after the reinstall? If so, what is that process please?
We're open to troubleshooting as well if there's a relatively easy fix but otherwise open to reinstall.
We're open to paid support if necessary as client has been down for a few days now.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Jon

  • Itunes won't launch after trying to install podutil s/w

I purchased the ipod version of podutil. When installing the distribution s/w, it said "Podutil needs to run an application in order to determine if compatible with itunes". I agreed but it never returned any response as complete or unable to complete. Itunes showed in dock as running but never launched. When I tried to force quit, it would not quit. Even when I force quit in finder it would not quit. Now when ever I try to launch itunes it doesn't launch but it shows in dock as trying to run. It still doesn't respond when I try to force quit. If I attach the ipod, itunes still does not launch. Ipod shows up on desk top, I can launch podutil. I tried to run an upgrade for itunes found by software update (as an attempt to repair) but it locks up during update process.
Has anyone seen this lock-up using the software? My OS version my be off a bit, I'm sending this from PC at work so I can't check, but its last version of Jaguar.
    powerbook G3 F/W bronze -pismo   Mac OS X (10.3.3)

I re-verified permissions, shut down and removed all power (inc battery)- restarted and itunes started when launched from doc. I don't know what the difference was, but it seems to be working.
