6.0.1 : Apple tv lag when using airplay (mirror) on macbook pro...

Hi,
I have recently bought a new apple tv (october 2013) partly for airplay (mirror) with my macbook pro.
Since the 6.0 version when i use my macbook i have some video lag..
I updated to the 6.0.1 and since.... it's worst !
I need your help i'm becoming crazy...
1- My tv : Samsung UE40EH6030 LED 3D
2- I'm using a 2011 mac book pro 2,3 GHz Intel Core i5 with 4gb memory (10.9 Mavericks)
3- I have checked my internet connection (best canal : 11)
Thanks

Mac OS X 10.9.1 has fixed the problem for me.
Pixelation is gone.
The delay between mouse/keyboard input and display is noticible but manageable.
Streaming video works well (with audio / video just a tiny bit out of sync).

  • How do I stop system sounds when using AirPlay on my MacBook Pro?

    Hi all,
Probably a quick question, but I'm fairly new to Macs. I've a Macbook Pro 13 Late 2011 and now I've got an Apple TV, I use AirPlay. But how do I stop system sounds when using AirPlay?
    Many thanks in advance, Jon.

    Hello Sam,
strangely enough, it went away by itself, and until now, it did not come back. I also believe it must be soms sort of graphic card connection failure or something like that, it`s very strange though. I also did let it know to the apple store, and explained it, and they were willing to repair it, but now everything is ok, so it has no meaning to go to the apple store, maybe for a checkup, that would be interesting maybe.
So, I would suggest to keep on using your computer for a couple of days, and shut it down and restart it as often as possible. And when it has not dissapeared after 3 or 4 days, then it`s good I think to go to the apple store.
If you can post here how it goes or how it went, would be nice, and if there is anything more I can help you with, let me know, kindly, Steven

  • Help please? I would not like the audio to mirror to my TV when using airplay from my MacBook.

I have a small music studio setup. I have an audio interface for the output of my macbook's audio. I like to use airplay with my macbook and apple TV. But when I use air play, my audio stop outputting from my macbooks audio output interface and mirrors through my TV speakers.
I'd like the audio to remain playing from my setup output but the screen I'd like mirrored through my apple TV and moutain lion.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you in advance.

There is no "corruption" involved - iTunes typically revises the format of its database with new versions, so these are not backward-compatible with prior releases.  iTunes does, however, preserve the library file from the previous release when you upgrade.  If you've already uninstalled iTunes 12 and installed an outdated version, you can skip steps 1 and 5 below.
    Unistall iTunes 12
Delete or rename the iTunes Library.itl file (by default in C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes)
Locate the date-time stamped copy of the iTunes Library.itl file in the Previous iTunes Library folder (this should be the one created when you updated from 11 to 12)
Copy this file to the location identified in step 2, and rename it iTunes Library.itl
    Install iTunes 11
Hold down Shift as you start iTunes, when you get this prompt:
click Choose Library..., navigate to and select the iTunes Library.itl file from step 4, and click OK.
"Opening past libraries" doesn't work if you're simply double-clicking on the old library database files in the Previous iTunes Library folder - this will just launch iTunes and load the current database file.

  • 2 Apple TV's and no sound output when using AirPlay/mirroring?

    Hi,
Bought my first apple tv and when air mirroring was able to go to my system preferences and choose sound output for it and it worked beautifully when I wanted to play a movie on my computer and send it to the TV.  Bought a second apple tv for the bedroom, both are connected over wifi.  Using Mountain Lion on my iMac.  Now it won't play any sound on either and will not let me choose which apple tv in system preferences - sound.  Any help would be appreciated
    Sue
I have tried turning Apple TV on first, then choosing sound output before turning on air mirroring.  Problem is it won't let me choose, stays on internal speakers.
This fix won't work for me.

Might I recommend the following sample code instead?

Verify your iMovie "Voiceover" audio source is set to use your MBP's internal Mic before you record.

(You might also need to change it in System Preferneces > Sound > Input.)
Also verify the microphone's "Level" is not muted or adjusted too low in either place.

  • IMac 27" Static Flicker when using Displayport In from Macbook Pro

    Hi all,
    Sorry about the long title
I have a late 2009 27" iMac with ATI 512Mb 4850 card and 8Gb RAM. I also have a 2011 Macbook Pro that I connect to the iMac via Displayport to use it as a screen.
The iMac sometimes displays an annoying flicker and "static" like screen issues when displaying the Macbook Pro screen. This does not happen all the time but seems to be more prevelant when I have had the machines on for a long time, or if I use them in the morning after they have been asleep through the night.
I've tried the cable (a Belkin one) both ways round and have tried wiggling it at certain points to see if that changes the static but nothing happens. I have also purchased a cable from Apple, but I did not realise it would only work for Thunderbolt drives, not displays.
I have a video of the issue here:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/1nkykc8j13qg9px/2012-04-13%2014.32.38.mov
    Any ideas?
The only thing that I have chaged about the iMac since purchase is I now run the OS on an external Firewire drive as the internal HD sounds like it's failing (it makes a very loud seeking noise ALL THE TIME and slows down a lot when the machine has been on for a while. The external drive does not do this).
    Thanks
    Ryan

    Hi, sparky96,
I do not have a satisfactory solution. The best I can do, as a work-around, is adjusting the iMac to its brightest setting, moving the MacBook Pro brightness several notches darker, and then aiming for a compromise in the image I'm working on.
As a result, I have no idea what someone else sees on his or her computer. However, that might be the case even if I could match the images on my two Macs. Others might have PCs that display reds as browns, for all I know. I do know that when I view a video on YouTube, it looks more or less the same on each of my computers. The human eye seems to make its own interpretive adjustments.
I have similar problems preparing artwork for printing. No matter what I do to calibrate the displays, the output from my various printers never looks right, and when I get back a book cover that's been printed on an offset press, I'm happy if it's reasonably close to what I get from my desktop printers.
I wish Apple, and Adobe, and Hewlett-Packard, and commercial printers and the whole industry would devise some kind of universal standards -- but I doubt that will ever happen.

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select "/var/log/install.log" from the file list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, start over and note the time. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.

  • Cursor lags when something is executing on Macbook Pro

When I move something or execute some action, the cursor doesn't respond for a second or so. Anyone else experience this? Any cures?
    Sean

This is normal. It has something to do with accidental clicking or something. I am not sure exactly what it is called, but everyone's does it. I think I remember someone saying it can be disable by changing settings in the mouse/keyboard section, but I am not sure exactly which one. It happens to me when I change the name of a song in iTunes. That is where I notice it the most. Hope this helps a little.

  • Why is it not possible to use airplay on earlier macbook pro models with Mountain Lion?

I've been looking forward to this release of the OSX, especially the built in AirPlay function for the Mac Pro, which I've been missing ever since I bought the Apple TV.
Now finally when I went to download Mountain Lion, I search google, and find out that AirPlay is only supported on early 2011 Mac Pro and later?
What are the earlier users going to do? I have an early 2009 model of the Mac Pro, and I just wan't to know if I'll be able to utilize the new AirPlay function or not, which determines whether or not I'm going to upgrade my OSX version
    Best regards, Thomas

    I found some stuff here: http://www.cultofmac.com/178460/the-real-reason-why-macs-before-2011-cant-use-ai rplay-mirroring-in-mountain-lion-feature/
If any news show up, please post.
Looks like I'll have to upgrade my mac book pro to get this feature to work

  • Apple TV 2 choppy video playback when mirroring from Macbook Pro (Yosemite) and Macbook Air (Yosemite) but not iOS devices

Video playback is choppy (cuts out every 30-45 seconds) when air playing from both my MacBook Air 1.3 GHz Intel Core i5 running Yosemite and my husbands new MacBook Pro, but runs perfectly when mirroring from any of our iOS devices (iPhone 6+, iPad mini 3, etc.) We have Apple TV 2. This problem just started a few weeks ago, was working fine around Christmas. The problem seems to have coincidentally started right after our son tried plugging in and setting up his Chromecast on our tv. I disconnected the Chromecast, but we still have the problem. All of our software if up to date and I've tried disconnecting blue tooth, we do not have a microwave and our wifi network has a very strong signal. We have an Airport Extreme base station. Is there a solution to our problem?

    Hi leahmturner,
I see that you are experiencing an issue with choppiness while AirPlay Mirroring from your computers to your Apple TV. I have an article that contains some helpful troubleshooting steps for you regarding this issue:
About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201343
    Optimizing image quality
    Resolution matching modes
You can choose between two desktop resolution matching modes that let you select which display will have the best image. When AirPlay Mirroring is turned on, select an option under "Match Desktop Size To:" in the AirPlay Mirroring menu extra.
Match Desktop Size To: Apple TV
AirPlay Mirroring changes the desktop resolution to best match your Apple TV, resulting in a 16:9 image that fills the HDTV screen. This setting often produces the sharpest image on the HDTV. The aspect ratio and/or resolution of the built-in Mac display may change to accommodate the Apple TV.
Match Desktop Size To: This Mac
AirPlay Mirroring scales the contents of the desktop to fit on the Apple TV, leaving the resolution of your Mac's display unchanged. Use this setting for the sharpest image on your Mac's display. Depending on your Mac model, the resulting image may not fill the HDTV screen.
    Troubleshooting AirPlay Mirroring
If you don't see mirroring options
If your Mac and Apple TV are on the same network, but no AirPlay Mirroring menu appears, your Apple TV may be asleep. Simply press a button on your Apple TV remote to wake it up. After a few seconds, the AirPlay Mirroring menu extra appears. If you still don't see the options you expect, make sure your Apple TV has the current software update installed. Also make sure that you have the "Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available" option selected in the Displays pane of System Preferences.
If the menu bar or Dock is cropped
Some HDTVs have bezels that cover a small percentage of the screen. This can result in a slight cropping of a full-resolution HDTV image. Depending on the HDTV model, AirPlay Mirroring may automatically adjust the picture size to prevent cropping.  If you are using OS X Mountain Lion or later, and you see cropping of the menu bar or Dock when using AirPlay Mirroring, toggle the Overscan correction option in Displays preferences.
    Minimize video post-processing
HDTVs often apply picture quality enhancements intended to improve the look of film and video sources. In some cases, these enhancements can lead to over-sharpening artifacts when displaying your Mac desktop. Some HDTV models have built-in settings to change or disable the enhancements for use with a computer (computer, presentation, or game modes). Otherwise, the controls for sharpness, detail enhancement and noise reduction can be used to optimize the appearance of the Mac desktop. Consult your HDTV’s manual for guidance on the appropriate settings for use with a computer.
    Firewall security settings
If you use a firewall, make sure the following firewall security options have been set to allow AirPlay Mirroring to work:
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu ().
Click Security & Privacy, then click Firewall.
Click the lock icon to unlock it if it's locked, then type an administrator name and password.
    Click Firewall Options.
Deselect (uncheck) the “Block all incoming connections” checkbox.
Select (check) the “Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections” checkbox.
Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!
    Regards,
    Braden

  • With iOS 5, can I use my iPad or MacBook Pro to watch Hulu on Apple TV?

I want to be able to watch Netflix and Hulu on my TV, and while Ragu is the only device I can find with that capability (besides the XBox 360 for over twice the cost), I want to know if there is a workaround on the Apple TV using AirPlay. I love the idea of AirPlay and the endless possibilities of viewing my iPad2 on my TV, but I have read so many reports of it only working on a few apps, as of iOS 4.2
With iOS 5, does AirPlay now work for ALL streamed content (including anything open in Safari, or Hulu Plus App)? Are there any alternatives so I can use my Hulu with an Apple TV?
Also, does AirPlay work on MacBook Pro as well? (ie, if I have my iPad, can my wife watch hulu on our TV via Apple TV, via our MacBook Pro?)
Or... should I hold out and wait until Apple (hopefully) eventually caves in, and just go with Roku?

Re: Airplay. This is currently up to the developers to implement so it has nothing to do with Apple. Hulu have decided against it for legal reasons.
IOS 5 will bring airplay mirroring with iPad 2 but will have to wait and see to test. It isn't out until the 12th.
Airplay will work with the Macbook but only through iTunes
