  • K8N neo4 platinum /sli & msi 6800gt video card problem.... urgent help!!!!

I simply can't get the video card to work in the firts PCI-E port, however if the card is in the second port it works fine without the D-bracket locking the PC. Does someone know why this happened?, is the motherboard damaged?, or is there a solution to this problem?
Note: D-bracket is indicating a Memory detection test problem, but as
I said if the Video card is in the second PCI-e port the PC works fine
Plase help does someone knows why this is happening?

Could you add the list of your components to your signature (e.g. power suppy, memory, etc).
I am assuming that the SLI connector card is firmly in place and set for non-SLI operation and
that the video card only works when inserted into the slot that what would normally be used
by a second SLI video card.   Is this correct?
Have you tried resetting your BIOS?

  • [GeForce PCe] MSI 6800GT PCIe overclocking blocked HELP!!!!

I have 2 MSI 6800 GT in SLI mode. I tried to overclock them but the clock seems blocked: when I use Riva Tuner or the driver's control panel and I try to overclock it says me that driver has not passed the test;  so I tried to downclock them but it says me the same thing... I tried to do that with many driver versions (71.22,71.84,77.76,77.77) but the result was the same.
    My hardware configuration is:
    -DFI Lanparty Nf4 SLI-Dr
    -AMD Athlon 64 4000
-2*512 MB RAM Kingstone ultra low latency ddr 400
-Maxtor Diamond Max 10 300 GB SATA
    -Enermax Noisetaker 600W
I have windows xp professional corporate service pack 1
How can I do to unlock them?

As for overclocking you can use and or try COOL BITS

  • Nforce 3 Platninum and 6800GT works fine for a week or so then fails to boot.

    Hi everyone,
I have read pretty much all the posts on the forum, but none show the exact same problem as mine, as far as I can see.
I have an MSI Nforce 3 plat mobo (with latest BIOS), which is turning out to be the worst investment I ever got.
    My specs are as follows:
    2x512MB Kingston ram
    AMD 3.5
    pixelview 6800gt
    raptor HD
    thermaltake 480W PS
I upgraded to the nforce 3 for the 939pin socket for my AMD chip.  I had constant freezing, so my old memory I had to chuck and buy 1GB of Kingston ram.  Using my old ATI 9800pro my system was stable. Absolutely no crashes.  I decide to buy a pixel view 6800GT AGP card to upgrade.  Cool.  Plug it in, reload windows (latest WHQL drivers from NVIDIA).  Everthing is fine, for about a week.  Then bad things start to happen.  The symptoms are:
Turn machine on, BIOS check all ok, machine does DMI listing. As soon as the "starting windows" screen comes up, the video display goes corrupt.  Either white, with diagonal lines, or windows XP logo all over the screen several times and corrupted.  The machine does boot into windows, but the screen is blank or corrupted.  I hear the windows startup sound click in.  Press the power button, shut down the machine.  Reboot.  It usually comes up fine.
I thought initially it was the graphics card, so I swapped it out. Reloaded windows. All works ok for about a week. Then, again same problem.  Windows event viewer shows no errors.
My question is this: can this be fixed or is it hardware incompatibility.  If so, can I fix it tweaking the mobo settings.  I have tried the AGP fast writes, didn't work.  This looks like intrinsic Hardware incompatibility, but if it is this, why does it work for a week without any problems, and then it gets worse and worse and worse.
If this is a hardware problem, what is the cheapest way to get out of this.  Is MSI nforce 4 any better or do I ditch pc gaming all together.  I have been gaming from XT days, and I have to say, I am totally disheartened with this whole mess.  The one thing in my life that I do want control of is a bootable, reliable PC to relax with at the end of the day.  At the moment, I just shed tears as it is turning out to be a costly nightmare.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  My friend has offered to buy the 6800GT from me, and give me my old 9800Pro back.  Should i do this???
    Thanks guys
    John

    Hi Makisst,
    Thanks for the reply.
    System specs are as follows:
    AMD 3500 64
    MSI Neo Platinum (nforce3)
    Creative labs Audigy2 pci card
    Pixelview 6800GT AGP 256MB
    Kingston DDR400 512Mb PC3200 400Mhz x2
    MSI K8N NEO2 PLATINUM 939 pin  (MS-7025-010)
    Western Digital Raptor™ 74.0Gb 10,000RPM SATA150
    Themaltake 480W power supply.
I have 2 extra ATA HDs, which I have not added to the system to rule those out.
I have a DVD player (bog standard MSI) and a CD burner (not plugged in so as to rule this out).
The only thing I have not tried is removing the sound card (audigy 2).  What is driving me absolutely nuts is that the machine works fine for a week.  Then there is a slow degrade.  First boot, scrambled screen, second boot fine.  Then a few days later, it will only boot the thrid time around.  Then after 2 weeks, it won't boot at all.
I have tried this card in another persons machine (the 6800GT that is), and it boots fine.
I can honestly say I have not tried playing with the BIOS settings except for AGP fast writes, as it was working fine with the Radeon 9800 pro.  I have done two full HD formats, and completely wiped the Raptor twice now.
I shall have a look at the BIOS settings you recommended tonight, and see if they make a difference.  I am, to be 100% honest, a little bit scared of playing with the BIOS settings, as I really don't know what I am doing.  I see that the ppl I bought the machine off have set timings in the BIOS to 3-3-8-3 (I think, I will confirm this tomorrow), so should I leave these settings?
I shall also remove the Audigy 2 card and see what happens.  System properties show machine has no conflicts though.  It is almost like the card is not initialising correctly.  Why this happens only after 1 week though I have no idea.  This is the third time it has started happening after 1 week.
The only extra software loaded is Norton, Win XP SP2 and directX9.  I really have not had it stable enough to start loading extra software.  I am getting too tired after reloading for the third time in 6 weeks.
I will let you know tomorrow either way.
    Many thanks
    John

  • Need Help With New Build, Please

Ok, built a new PC.  Here are the parts:
    MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum
    XFX Geforce 6800GT
    Seagate 160 Gig w/ NCQ
    1 Gig (512x2) Corsair value memory 3200
PC Power and Cooling 470 Watt Silencer w/ Y PCI-express adapter
    Athlon 3500+ (Clawhammer, says Newegg)
    Lian-Li V-1100 (black)
My problem: 99.7% sure all cables are connected properly.
All lights and fans come on, drives open and close, but no video signal.
D-Bracket indicates the boot sequence is stuck on "processor initialization".
    Things I've tried:
Swapped out the motherboard for an Asus A8N-SLI, same problem.
Reset CMOS on both: same problem, obviously not a motherboard issue.
Built w/ just CPU, GPU, and Memory on a towel, not a grounding issue.
Tried swapping out DIMMS one at a time in primary slot, same problem with both.
Yes, both 24-pin connectors and 12v 4-pin connector are hooked up.
    Where I am now:
It's not the motherboard, or memory (unless both DIMMS are bad).
Based on the D-bracket LEDs,  I assume it was the processor.  I've sent the processor back to Newegg for a new one.
If that's not it, that leaves the PSU, the GPU, and/or the way I've got the y-adapter running to the GPU via two molex.
If the processor comes back and it doesn't work, I'll probably buy a cheap PCI card from newegg to see if it's a GPU problem.  And/or I'll try a new PSU with a native 6-pin PCI-Express power connector.
Does anyone see any common compatibility problems with the K8N Neo4 Platinum and the parts I've selected, and/or does anyone have any other suggestions?
It's very depressing to have all this gear sitting around and be unable to power up Half-Life 2.  :(  Any help would be appreciated.

Most likely RAM is your problem. Reset bios and try new memory.
    Tom
Possible, but as mentioned, the LED bracket indicates it makes it completely through POST without the video-card, and I've tried alternating each DIMM, one at a time, in the primary slot.  Unless both sticks are bad (wonder what the statistical chance of that is), it's not memory.
Though I'll try swapping out both as a last resort if the GPU switch doesn't work.

  • Geforce 6800GT won't install properly

I apologize if this is not the relavent section for this topic, but all I seem to read is that my problem just be due to the motherboard or the BIOS.
I have tried to install both a BFG and an XFX Geforce 6800GT card, and both of them have given me issues. I tried the BFG card first and sent it back when no support was given. I'm now in the process of trying to make the XFX card work. Please find relavent system specs in sig (the graphics card there is my old card, of course).
When I install the card/drivers and reboot, my display is distorted with colored, vertical lines of pixelation. My LCD monitor sometimes goes black for a few seconds then displays the screen again. Sometimes it goes thru its digital/analogue source seek randomly, then reboots. The Windows error report message comes up pretty frequently. I have the latest BIOS for my MB (AMI v.1.07), which I installed this morning before installing the card. I have the latest chipset drivers (they're from like December of last year so...). The card is one that comes with just one power plug connector, and I have a cord directly from my PSU plugged into it. I am not experienced with IRQ, though I have heard that this card and other recent graphics cards require you to assign VGA to IRQ in the BIOS, which is not an option in my BIOS.
I'm not sure what to do at this point. I'd really like to get this card to work and crank up some games today  .  Any help you can provide is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Melody

Sorry, but how high should a PSU be, these days?
nVidia recomments a good quality 480W PSU for this card!!!!!!!!
So the Enermax 465 will do just fine as it has plenty amps (33) on the 12V line.
110W means that it takes approx 10A from the 12V line alone, but the CPU and other stuff want some juice too...
On the Powmax there is only 15A left for the rest of the system, that's not enough...

  • Please help!!! Poor performance Neo2...can't figure out why!!

    Hi people,
I have worked on this issue for days!!  I cannot figure it out!  Here is the problem:
I used to have a Soltek AND Asus A8V mobo (both via chipsets), and scored approx 12,890 in 3dmark03 and 5,100 in 3dmark05, respectively ON BOTH BOARDS!
I have swapped out these boards with the msi neo 2 (latest revison) w/ bios 1.4.  I have the SAME other equipment as shown in my signature.
    I only get approx 9,800 in 3dmark03 and 3,889 in 3dmark 05.  Roughly a 2,000/1,000 point lower difference respectively.
I cannot for the life of me figure out why. I have thought about this for days and searched this and many other forums to no avail.
I have installed the latest nforce 6.14 driver and the forceware 67.02.  I have tried other drivers as well, using driver cleaner between installs.  Still no go.
Bios is set at optimized default.  AGP fast writes disabled.  AGP Aperature size 256.  The 6800gt is oc'ed to 400/1100.  No oc on mobo.
I also did a search and found a review of this board w/ a 3dmark03 bench using the same video card as mine that shows a mark of 15,500 @ resolution 640x480.
So I tried the same test @ resolution 640x480 and scored 2,000 less marks.
I just don't understand this.  Can someone please help and try to shed some light on this for me.  I am SO perplexed about this!!

Why are you not using the  Soltek or Asus A8V anymore?
i have almost the same machine as you and i to am very disappointed with the performance of my setup.
I have also tried other drivers and  installing differecnt OS's (win2k, winXPsp1, winXPsp2), which did not seem to help.  although drivers did make my benchmarks vary depending on dirver and OS.
I was just about to buy either the soltek 939 pin board or the asus A8V, to see if i can solve my performane issues.
the only other board that looks really good is the gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP-939, but this board also has an nforce3 chipset and i am begining to think that the nforce3 chipset sux.
The only other explanation for the lack of performance or perceived lack of performance is that we are running 64bit CPUs under a 32bit environment  and therefore using only half the power of these CPU's.

  • Can someone help me with a beeping probl

I had an xfi extreme music (I think - it's xfi something, anyway) in the following machine:
    AMD Athlon 4000+ (s939)
Some kind nforce4 abit board, single pcie slot
    2 gigs of ram
    nvidia 6800gt
POS wireless card from Linksys (one of those crappy N ones)
I replaced the processor, motherboard, and ram, so that the machine is now as follows:
    AMD Athlon 5200+ (AM2)
Asus crossfire board with an ATI chipset on it
    2 gigs of ram
    ati x950xtx
same POS wireless card (I really ought to replace it, it's such a piece of crap)
    same sound card
The problem: Originally, the card worked great. Now, in the new system, after a while of gaming, the card suddenly switches from whatever sounds it was making before, to this continuous beep with nothing else. Only a reboot fixes it. I have not upgraded the bios on this board because downloading from Asus goes at about k/sec or less, and the newer bios only states that it includes support for different kinds of memory.
Any ideas what is going on? Should I just update the bios anyway? Anything else I can try?

    hi again,
the coldlightcathode-converter converts the 2Volt input to a high voltage of 000Volt and more output for the coldlightcathodes, and this can be a reason to make a disturbing high-frequenz beep, even when the CLC are off but the converter are still plugged to the powersupply.
maybe it helps to to get the CLC-converter outside of the PC-box, or far away from the x-fi, i don?t know i aint tested it yet.
    If u ain?t got a coldlightcathode, u got a other disturbing hardwareprob.
    I got no wireless-networkcard.
I tested my system without X-fi,
only onboard sound and there was no probs.
But yesterday the beep was back, after nearly 2 hours playing bf2, but i putted the sound control at "Ultra-High", after the beep back the "High" and i played another to 2 hours without beep.
I wrote to Creative support, but they got no plan, and send me back a installation-guide for the sound-driver.
I edited with the "PowerStrip"-program my LatenzTimes from 48 up to 96-28-92, maybe this helps by u too or it will takes more time till beeeeeepin? .
This prob is not easy, a friend got it sometimes too,
    with a AMD 939 CPU, X850pro, GB G.Skill, i think a Asus-mainborad too, X-fi XtremeMusic and he got a wireless-networkcard.
And i don?t think it will be better with a other X-fi card,
but the X-fi is the cheapest component after my DVD-burner, lol.
    I got a 2nd PC with a 2nd X-fi XtremeMusic,
if i got time i?ll change the x-fi?s.
good luck, maybe u find a other disurbing thing, so let me know.

  • Overlay shows blank screen on 6800GT?

I have never been successful with overlays. I'm using ForceWare 84.12 on GF 6800GT. Using Media Player Classic to playback any kind of video files. If I set to playback with Overlay, I will get only blank screen on the single monitor I have. Every other playback mode works fine - system default, VMR7, VMR9 etc, except Overlay where I got nothing. There is no complain or error message popup for selecting Overlay though. But I just don't know how to get my video playback appear on Overlay settings.
    Any help?

Video overlay has nothing to do with codec. It's a technique graphics card use to organize full-motion video content into a frame buffer, then feed it to GPU's RAMDAC, and to send it to the computer screen. The good about video overlay is it doesn't require CPU processing power (if graphics card support it). If this frame buffer is being fetched by VMR (DirectX), then certain processing power will be needed.
NVidia cards surely support it. But somehow it doesn't really work out what I wanted it to be on my system.
Driver could be a big suspect, but I am using a full WHQL compliant ForceWare driver.
Or it could be something very wrong with my OS

  • HELP NEEDED FAST!

Hey, I hava a rather large problem. just so you know, I am american, and run english language everything. my specs are: [Windows XP PRO] [Athlon 64 FX-55] [ASUS A8N-SLI N-force 4 SLI mobo] [2 gigs ram] [2 6800GT s56 MB]. If anyone remembers, a day or two ago I posted a thread called "Driver uninstall/install help needed", that you can find here, http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=28565
A guy linked me some drivers, and now, when I uninstalled the old ones and was gonna install the new ones, I clinked on the amd64 thing in the suprrt thing, went to ctzapxx, amd it says "C:/Documents and Settings/chief/desktop/drivers/support/amd64/ctzapxx.exe is not a valid win32 application."
I am now stuck with no sound or drivers unless I use the system restore point I made before I did the uninstall/install thing.
I would really like some advice, or better yet, and explanation of why they don't work and where i can get some that do. I will bump this if it falls off the 'st page until i get a answer.
Thanks so much for any help

You're trying to run CTZAPXX.EXE version intented to be executed on 64-bit operating system (eg. Windows x64) while you're using 32-bit XP.
You find the 32-bit version of CTZAPXX lying in another folder (i386).
NOTE: When you install/update drivers using CTZAPXX.EXE you do not need to uninstall your previous drivers, but just 'accept' the 'option' asking your permission to stop all shared components while updating.
    Hope this cleared something.

  • Want help in compiling a list of upgrades for my Quicksilver (UK)

Well my Quicksilver will be arriving in a few days and after asking a couple of questions about upgrades I'd now like to compile a list of upgrades for me to buy so I can everything with ease. I live in the UK and can you use eBay and any other website/source as long as it can get to the UK. I'd like to upgrade the following to begin with:
    - Sound card
    - RAM
    - Graphics card
    - USB 2.0 ports
    - DVD drive
    - PSU
    - Any other good PCI cards
    And the following later on:
    - Hard drives
    - CPU (if I feel I need to)
So can you guys help me compile a list of recommended upgrades for each component and where I can buy the parts from as long as I can get them to the UK? I'd appreciate it very much.

    Hi-
Recommend not leaving the hard drive for last. Machine performance is dependant on hard drives, and the faster the better. This should be the first item on your list.
    WESTERN DIGITAL Caviar SE16 WD3200AAKB
Install maximum memory, 3x512MB PC133 DIMMs. Use only quality Mac compatible guaranteed memory.
    PC133 SDRAM DIMM 512MB
Might be cheaper to buy from the US and pay VAT.
    OWC 512MB PC133 CL2 2-2-2 168 Pin High Performance SDRam
A USB 2.0 PCI card does not have to be stated as Mac compatible if it has the NEC chipset.
NEC Chipset 5 Port USB 2.0 Card
Scan 5 Port PCI USB2 Card
For optical drive, recommend the Pioneer DVR-112 or the DVR-115.
    Optical drives.
For graphics card, you need 4x AGP graphics, with Core Image support. You'll have to buy the 9800 Pro Mac from the US, or search eBay for an ATI Radeon 9700 or 9800 Pro (must be Mac compatible stated). Flashed PC cards (made Mac compatible) Geforce 6200, 6800GT or Ultra, or 7800GS are also available on eBay.
    Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition
You don't need to upgrade the PSU.
Sound cards are only available from M-Audio, or, get a sound card in a box in the Griffin Firewave.
If you plug good external speakers into the audio out, you can get excellent sound without a card.
    Recommend Harmon Kardon Soundsticks
And, finally, CPU upgrades in the UK are pretty well limited to Sonnet.

  • Audigy 2 Zs Causing Probs... Help pls?

    Hi all
First of all I love this message
Ok ever since I installed the driver for my Audigy2 ZS sound card I get an error messege regarding nvraidservice.exe (or something like that) upon boot up. I dont think its hindering my rig at all but its rather irritating. Is there a way i can disable that? if so plse let me know how.
Another problem im having is again upon boot up core center will pop up and error message first it says no hardware monitor detected, then it would say corecenter does not support your motherboard. It use to be ok but every since I loaded my audigy 2 zs drivers ive been getting those error messeges when ever i boot up. But the funny thing is after I close down all the error messages, and start corecenter then it works fine.
I dont think any of these errors are hindering my rigs performance but its getting really really annoying.
And my Msi Live update is also no longer working ever since the audigy 2 driver install.
Is there any new drivers that I can download that will fix this because I love my Audigy 2 sound card and don't want to give it up
    Thanks
    Jason

CoreCenter did not support my motherboard either after I added an Audigy2 ZS to my system. I never got any error about "nvraidservice.exe", but I removed the CoreCenter error by removing MSI Live Update Monitor from the autostart. Havnt had any problems since then. Hope it helps.
    And oh, the rig in the signature is my personal fileserver. My gaming-rig is as follows;

  • Please HELP! Problems booting K8N Neo2 Plat.

    Hey peeps,
I've been having major problems with getting my system to work with the Neo2.  My first board worked ok and I finished installing windows and switched it off for the night.  Then about 3 hrs later it TURNS ITSELF ON... and the power supply blows up.  I returned both and now I've just rebuilt the system.  Worked fine for a few hours... went to sleep and woke up when my power LED on my case started flashing for no reason.  Now the computer won't boot.  I just get the power LED flashing.  I'm REALLY annoyed at this board cos it's been giving me no end of problems with my Audigy as well. My specs are below.  ANY help would be appreciated cos I only have today to resolve this problem.
    Athlon 64 3500+
    1GB Crucial Ballistix
    Tagan 480W PSU
    Galaxy GeForce 6800GT

    Tagan PSU bad...very bad.
    How bad?
BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD
Seriously though, I would supect The Tagan PSU first because those things are loose cannons.
    Hope this helps.

  • Nx 6800gt

Hi! First of all I want to apologise for my english. I am from Greece. I have bought the MSI NX6800GT TD256. I installed the Prince of Persia, which was in the pack of the vga card and when i tried to play it I got a message that GeForce 6800gt is not supported by the game. Is this right or is something wrong with my card? And something else... when I check the display properties in the tab MSI Information my card is reffered as MS-Starforce GeForce 6800(NVIDIA GeForce 6800GT). Any suggestions about these? My system is: AMD A64 3400, ASUS K8N, 512 DDR. Please help me!!! Thank you.

    Hi,
I read in another post that there is a patch at UbiSoft for 6800 users, vist their site for more info.  As always, use retailers patches with caution when applying to bundled software.
Here is the text from the Ubi Soft site:
"We have made a new executable for customers with a graphicscard based on the Nvidia Geforce 6800 chipset.
Make a backup of you current PrinceofPersia.exe file by copying it to a location outside the Prince if Persia folders
Copy the file located at the bottom of this page to the mainfolder of the game where the old princeofpersia.exe is located and accept to overwrite it."
    Good Luck,

  • MSI 6800gt problems

Last week i baught a MSI 6800gt to replace my old mx440. All was going well for the first day however when i went to play any games or anything the next day my computer would crash( this appears to be a result of the screen resolution changing). I got the latest drivers off the msi site which didnt fix it so i got the lates ones from the nvidia website which had no effect either. I also did a compelte re-install of windows but it did nothing.
When i first put the card in i could run all the 3dmark03 tests however now it gets to the cpu tests and displays an error message(cant rermember the exact message). Also I cant load up any farcry levels( computer restarts its self) and in brothers in arms if i try to change the screen resolution it either turns my monitor off and i cant turn it back on without restsrting or makes the screen flicker black and orange. If i do manage to get the game to run when i exit out windows stays on the same resolution as i was playing and if i try to change it it tells me i have to restart the computer.
Can anyone help me. Did i get a dodgy card? or does it have compatiblity issues with my motherboard? im fresh out of ideas

Im now running a new motherboard - ABIT NF7-S not that this has helped matters. This involved formatting and re-installing windows, with the latest nforce drivers and graphics drivers(v71.89) all was good for the first time i ran my computer but after re-booting it was back to its same old problems.
I tryed my card in my mates computer (A64 3500+, 1Gig Geil RAM, Antec True480 PSU) who also has a MSI 6800GT which worked fine with both mine and his cards. His card however wouldnt work in my computer. After putting the card back into my computer i disconnected my 2nd HDD, Case fans and Hardcano, put my CPU back to stock settings, and pulled out my VT and network cards,  all of which had no effect. This is driving me up the wall, all i want to do is to be able to play Farcry and HL2 and it wont work Interestingly enough i can play DX7 games with no issues however it appears that anything using DX8 or 9 wont work. HL2 turns my monitor off and farcry restarts my computer. I have even tryed changing resolutions and refresh rates of my monitor (Samsung 753DFX) not that it made any difference.
If anyone is having similar problems and managed to fix them can you let me know how.
