7.4 is kinda awful.

If you're on the main dashboard page (or anywhere, for that matter), you should have "Apps" up in the top right corner that will allow you to easily switch between your Help Desk and Inventory sections.  Once I found it after the update, I fell in love with it quickly.
As for ticket count, once you switch over to the Help Desk section (in the Apps, as listed above), you should be able to see all this information on the Dashboard section of Help Desk.

If you value honest feedback, here's mine. The new version (I'm sorry) is kinda awful. The changes are without merit and seem arbitrary and have broken our established workflow (that's a bad thing). Main dashboard page does not have a menu item for helpesk...I had to add the ticketwidget and click help desk on that instead of it being readily on the top of the page when I open Spiceworks (the main reason I open Spiceworks every dayis missing from the main page?? What possible reason for that could there be?)Also took me an long time to find where to select "mine, open, closed," etc...and I don't see a ticket count visible, IE 92 open tickets, 3 unassigned, etc....maybe it's there...I dunno. I feel like I'm looking at a moiré pattern with random text sprayed all over it. The update is bewildering at best with the shadow, half references...

  • Help Desk Dashboard

    Hello CSC
We are trying to enable our HelpDesk to use LMs on a daily basis but in order to do that we would like to give them access only to some dashboards and not to all the dashboards that their role gives them access.
I am sure we are not the first ones to try this and therefore I would like to hear about possible solutions and experiences.
PS:Role mangement is done and added to the different local users.

  • VirtualDisk on Windows Server 2012 R2 Storage Pool stuck in "Warning: In Service" state and all file transfers to and from is awfully slow

    Greetings,
I'm having some trouble with my Windows Storage Pool and my VirtualDisk running on a Windows Server 2012 R2 installation. It consists of 8x Western Digital RE-4 2TB drives + 2x Western Digital Black Edition 2TB drives and have been configured in a single-disk
parity setup and the virtual disk is running fixed provisioning (max size) and is formatted with ReFS.
It's been running solid for months besides some awful write-speeds at times, it seems like the write performance running ReFS compared to NTFS is not that good.
I was recommended to add SSD's for journalling in order to boost write-performance. Sadly I seemed to screw up this part, you need to due this through PowerShell and it needs to be done before creating the virtualdisk. I managed to add my SSD to the Storage
    Pool and then remove it.
This seem to have caused some awkward issues, I'm not quite sure of why as the virtualdisk is "fixed" so adding the SSD to the Storage Pool shouldn't really do anything, right? But after I did this my virtual disk have been stuck in "Warning:
In Service" and it seems to be stuck? It's been 4-5 days and it's still the same and the performance is currently horrible. Moving 40GB of data off the virtual disk took me about 20 hours or so. Launching files under 1mb of the virtual disk takes several
minutes etc.. It's pretty much useless.
The GUI is not providing any useful information about what's going on. What does "Warning: In Service" actually imply? How am I supposed to know how long this is supposed to take? Running Get-Virtualdisk in PowerShell does not provide any useful
information either. I did try to do a repair through the Server Manager GUI but it goes to about 21% within 2-3 hours but drops back down to 10%. I have had the repair running for days but it wont go past 21% without dropping back down again.
Running repair through PowerShell yields the same results, but if I detach the virtual disk and then try to repair through PowerShell (the GUI wont let me do repair on detached virtual disks) it will just run for a split second and then close.
After doing some "Googeling" I've seen people mentioning that the repair is not able to finish unless I have at least the same amount of free space in the Storage Pool as the largest drive in my Storage Pool is housing so I added a 4TB drive as
due to me running fixed provisioning I had used all the space in the pool but the repair is still not able to go past 21%.
As am running "fixed provisioning" I guess adding a extra drive to the pool doesn't do much difference as it's not available for the virtual disk? So I went ahead and deleted 3 TB of data on the virtual disk so now I've got about 4 TB free space
on the virtual disk so there should be plenty of room for Windows Server 2012 R2 to re-build the parity or whatever it's trying to do but it's still the same, the repair wont move past 21% and the virtual disk is still stuck in "Warning: In Service"
mode and the performance keeps being horrible so taking a backup will take forever at these speeds...
Am I missing something here? All the drives in the pool is working fine. I have verified using various bootable tools so why is this happening and what can I do to get the virtual disk running at full state again? Why doesn't the GUI prompt you with any
    kind of usable information?
    Best regards, Thomas Andre

    Hi,
Please run chkdsk /f /r command on the virtual disk to have a try. In the meantime, run the following commands in PowerShell to share the output.
    get-virtualdisk -friendlyname <name> | get-physicaldisk | fl
    get-virtualdisk -friendlyname <name> |fl
    Best Regards,
    Mandy

  • Generic connectivity to SQL server: what kind of performance can I expect?

I have set up a generic connection to a SQL server 2k db, with Oracle on another win 2k box. Both databases are in their "out of the box" configuration, so no particular tuning has been done: but the generic connectivity shows awful performance. In fact I have tried various kind of queries, and all of them show abysmal performance. A query with an "insert - select" that transferred 80K lines executed for one hour, with an average transfer rate of 1KB per second!
I don't think this is the kind of performance I can expect from this tool, is it? Is there anyway particular I can do in order to tune the dblink over the generic connectivity?

I don't think this is the kind of performance I can
expect from this tool, is it? Is there anyway
particular I can do in order to tune the dblink over
the generic connectivity?Nevermind: apparently there are network communication problems between the two machines. Trying to execute the same tests on two co-located dbs shows performances of about 700ms in order to transfer 70000 3-column lines from a sql server db to oracle with a "insert into ... select * from" query.

  • Press 1 if you think Verizon Customer Service is Awful

I consider myself Verizon's idea of the "perfect" customer.
First, I have the FIOS Bundle package (phone, internet, TV) with all the bells and whistles, including all the movie channels and sports packages.
And, until very recently, I was a longtime Verizon wireless customer.
The problem is that Verizon treats me like I'm some kind of idiot.  I get an e-mail that reads (in part): "According to our records, you have not yet accepted the FiOS Bundle Customer Agreement that contains the terms and conditions covering your Verizon FiOS Triple Bundle. In order to receive the discounts associated with this bundle for 12 consecutive months, please review and accept the agreement...."
OK, fine. So I click the link. It asks me for my username and password.  I try to use my Verizon logon. No, apparently that doesn't work.  I need another username/password.
I call up support, and after going through a bunch of convoluted menus, I get through to a human being who says I need to talk to someone from e-center. {word filter avoidance}   Apparently, I need a username and password from there.  I tell the customer service person I'd like to confirm my bundle via the mail.  "I'm sorry, you can't do that.  We need you to confirm this online so that we have recourse in case you cancel."
Really!! That's funny because I didn't have to go online to confirm my cell phone plan (formerly with Verizon), and I sure {edited} don't need to go online to any of the other bills that have for electricity, gas, water.  Apparently, FIOS is so incredible you can only do it online.  The customer person says, "It's like a digital fingerprint!!"  Oh, really! Gosh, thanks!
So I realize nothing will come of this rant, but you {word filter avoidance}  who run this company should really {please keep your posts courteous}  try calling your own company's customer service lines to see what it's like.
And while I'm at it, as a former Verizon shareholder you really made an idiot move by not coming to some sort of agreement with Apple to be the exclusive carrier of the iPhone.  I give you kudos for investing so heavily in fiber so many years ago, but your customer service is awful.  Just awful.

    1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1 !!!!!
Your post on the forum is DEAD ON !!!  I've spent two days trying to deal with Verizon. The customer service is NON EXISTANT !!!  It took 6 hours (at my work) trying to find somone who even remotely knew where and how to begin to help. Unfortunately, (status quo) I was put on hold and we were disconnected.  Gee, I'm not too ticked off at this point, I've only been disconnected like 20 times since.
After going home, and spending another 2 1/2 hours on the phone with Verizon, the issues with the services I chose are straightened out. I think???
Now .......I'm trying to activate the bundle online.  WHAT A JOKE !!!!  Their stupid www.verizon.net/fiosbundleterms website doesn't work. After reading other posts, it appears mailing it in doesn't work either.
I'm so sorry I ever switched from COMCAST. At least their customer service system worked. I am regretting the day when I have real problems, like with the equipment, etc. Hats off to the COMCAST customer service !!!
    Dear Verizon,
If you even care to read these forums you will do SOMETHING about your customer service issues. It's apalling. I spit on you.  Please tell me what you spent the MILLIONS of dollars on.
    signed,
    a very ticked off customer.....

  • Can I replace my Apple Remote with some kind of iphone app?

I have an old Macbook, late '07. It's from back when they still shipped with a remote control (those little white ones) included in the box, but I've since updated the OS and it's now running Snow Leopard (10.6.8).
I haven't used the remote an awful lot, but I use it enough that it's an item I always end up packing 'just in case' when I go on a trip. I was wondering if there was a way I could replace the functionality of the remote with some kind of app I could download on my iphone, because this would give me one less item to keep track of so I don't end up losing it.
I do some fairly active travelling, sometimes switching hotels and whole locations every one or two nights, and I always end up with a fair amount of gear that would put a big dent in my budget to replace. So the less things I have to pay attention to, the less likely I am to end up misplacing something or having a moment of inattention that leads to a theft
My iphone is a 3GS running 5.1.1 The app doesn't have to be free, but I would prefer to keep it under the $10 mark if possible.
    Thanks!!

If you have a warranty you should use it but if you dont mind spending the money you can buy a new head set for 30 bucks I did still one of the best purchases I ever mad you can do it buy going to your local store and look under the electronics deparment and look for apple headphones with inline mic or go online and just order from apple the headset it may cost you but sometimes it is worth every penny

  • I have a Mac book pro on vesion 10.6.8 and want to access icloud as it works great on my iphone 4.  Not sure best way to upgrade as some of the review of Lion on the appstore are awful.  Any advice

I have a Mac book pro on vesion 10.6.8 and want to access icloud as it works great on my iphone 4.  Not sure best way to upgrade as some of the review of Lion on the appstore are awful.  Any advice as I also have MIcrosoft word etc and don't want to have to purchase these again.

That is the best list ever for Lion compatibility!
    You can also do this:
Launch the programs you know and love on your Snow Leopard Mac.
    Utilities --> Activity Monitor
Under the "Kind" tab it will identify the programs running PowerPC, Intel and Intel 64.
No PowerPC apps will run under Lion.
Don't worry about Apple's system stuff like Mail, iCal, Safari.
Don't worry about the system processes, like fontd and launchd, those will be replaced if you go to Lion.
Just look for the programs that you need.

  • Will there be some kind of upgrade of recent MBP trackpad to new cool one?

I just bought a 2.6 Ghz top of the line MacBookPro but it didn't have the new very cool trackpad that the newest ones have Anyone from Apple reading this or any knowledgeable person: Is there any plan to issue some kind of upgrade that will enable my almost new trackpad to do the cool iPhone-like things? Thanks

You are very kind to answer me. The answer is very frustrating, though I know it is Apple's fault and not yours. I didn't buy it from Apple so naturally they have to penalize me - fourteen days is not really fair for such a major upgrade, don't you think? Anyway, thanks again for your kindness in answering, though I feel gipped by Apple for buying their top of the line laptop - an awful feeling.

  • Why are my prints suddenly awful?

Similar questions seem to have been asked already, but here is my specific problem.
I have until now had absolutely no problems printing with an ICC profile, allowing CS2 to colour manage. I am using ICI's Olmec satin paper in an Epson R800, with ICI's own ICC profile. ICM in the printer driver is selected, with no colour management. My monitor is regularly calibrated.
Suddenly, when I print, the colours, particularly greens, are awful (a sort of washed-out orange-brown) - I am losing most of the detail in foliage. I thought it was a printer problem, but viewing the proof colours in CS2 gives me the same poor colour rendition - a beautiful shot turns into a horror when I select view>proof colours. So it appears that CS2 is correctly applying the profile - the print colours matching the proof colours on screen. But why the massive colour space shift (working space has always been ProRGB, but it doesn't make any difference if I change it to sRGB)? Corrupt ICC profile? I don't think so, because I uninstalled it and reinstalled the original copy.
I would like to try and print letting the printer manage the colour - does anyone know how I can do this using the ICI profile? I have associated the profile with the printer, but I don't see how to set this in the printer dialogue box. In advanced settings, there is a profile drop-down box that supposedly allows you to use custom profiles, but the only one appearing there is 'EPSON standard'.
    All comments/suggestions gratefully received.
    Thanks
    Dave

    David,
For all you've said, I feel you're doing the right thing, but as my suggestions were just stretching for a possible cause of the problem, I'll go back to my initial reply and ask if you're certain your profile loader is working? I don't have the Spyder software, so I'm not sure what the profile loader is for it, but if it works similarly to the Monacor EZColor software for my OptixXR, then a shortcut for it will be added to the Start Menu > Programs > Startup folder so that it is launched each time you boot your PC. It should then load the profile last created when you calibrated your monitor. If the loader is missing or somehow corrupted and thus not loading the profile, then that may well be the source of the problem.
The fact that colors look correct on your XP desktop doesn't necessarily mean that the profile is loaded, although it does suggest that. Unless you are viewing the images in some color managed application, which XP itself isn't, nor are its image viewers, then I'm pretty certain you are seeing all images displayed pretty much as if they were not tagged with a profile themself. That is, most likely they are being shown as if they were sRGB images, and your default monitor setting (profile ignored) may already be close enoughh to sRGB to provide images that look pretty darn good. If your profile is loading correctly and if the behavior is like what I've seen, then you will observe a slight shift in colors on your monitor once the profile loader has loaded the monitor profile to the LUT of your graphics chipset.
Also, the presence of a monitor profile in any kind of drop-down menu as in Photoshop's color settings dialog, simply means that profile exists on your system. It does not mean the profile is loaded.
Again, everything I see you saying sure makes it look at if all should be in good order, yet just isn't for some reason. Such behaviors as that just tend to suggest a corrupt file.
If you want to confirm your monitor profile is in fact being loaded correctly, I suggest you download this free and simple-to-use tool from Xrite, called DisplayProfile: http://www.xrite.com/product_overview.aspx?ID=757&Action=support&SoftwareID=539
DisplayProfile is a standalone executable that, upon launch, initially shows what monitor profile is currently loaded and active. It should report to you the profile you created with your Spyder. If you select any other profile in the list that is tagged with an asterisk (indicates gamma tagged profile suitable for loading to the LUT), it will reload the LUT with that profile and you can easily see how that affects your monitors colors on-the-fly.
Recapping what you've said here, the current process you follow is the same that you've always taken and used successfully, and nothing to your knowledge has changed? That is, you've been successfully using the R800 and the paper and profiles mentioned, with no changes that you're aware of? As you said, I'd not really expect your original Olmec profile to be corrupted as well as the copy that has been in use. If this "suddenly, when I print" became a problem only recently, then Lawrence's suggestion of reverting to a System Restore point prior to the time you first observed the problem may well be worth doing. Of course, this assumes you have System Restore active so that checkpoints are periodically created, and they span the time period in question.
In the end, it may also be just as you last said...that a custom profile for your paper is needed. On my R1800, I've been very happy with the Espon Ultra Premium Luster, Velvet Fine Art and Ultrasmooth Fine Art papers in most cases, each with their associated Epson profiles. However, there do seem to be some images I'll print to the latter 2 papers where they seem more difficult to judge the color saturation relative to the softproof. I also now remember how I stumbled along ( http://ambress.com/photoshop/softproof ) for a while with having "Preserve RGB Colors" mistakenly enabled in the softproof settings, and that was badly affecting the softproofing of prints made to Epson Enhanced Matte and the Premium Luster...something else worth mentioning, as another time for you to check. Generally, it should be disabled as I understand things.
    Good luck!
    Daryl

  • DW's God Awful FTP

Why Adobe, why does DW, one of the most brilliantly designed, efficient, highly usable pieces of software ever created, still, still, still have such an astoundingly horrible FTP engine? Just Google Dreamweaver ftp sucks, and you'll get the same complaints going back TEN YEARS. Its so awful as to be unusuable. I've used it on a dozen different machines in every version since 3 or 4, that's ten+ years, on every kind of internet connection in existence, on five different continents, and it's just total rubbish, slow, unsuccessfull 'puts' 25-50% of the time. Every time I hit ctrl+shft+D to put it's "here we go again." It's a super PITA having to constantly jump to Filezilla.
BTW your copyright on this page still says 2012. It's June. Yeesh.

Godday is a poor example Brett.  There have been long discussions over the years and here is I one I was involved in 2 years back:  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/889530 . It's definitely worth a read and one of the reasons DW has had issues with Godaddy is because Godaddy is not properly utilizing their security certifiicates with their shared hosting and it is causing a false sense of security that other programs like Filezilla are not catching for whatever reason. Also Adobe did post a FTP KB article to try and troubleshoot: http://helpx.adobe.com/en/dreamweaver/kb/error-uploading-or-downloading-files.html .
With regards to your 30% success rate what is failing?  Have you clicked on Site->Advanced->FTP Log to trace the issue of the failure to see what's happening with the FTP connection?  Can you post that information of the error that is causing your low success rate?
I have to agree with Nancy, that the CS6 release has been a welcomed improvement to FTP.  Albeit the stand-alone programs like Filezilla or a commercial alternative like Transmit can provide some features that DW does not, the functionality in DW CS6 is greatly improved. Up until that release I was with you that the FTP was horrific at best.

    my MBP specs:

    2.3 ghz intel core i5
    4 gb 1333 mhz ddr3
    mac os x lion 10.7.5 (11g63)
    itunes 10.7 (21)

    1. A 13" screen is awfully small to do any efficient editing. The 15" gives you significantly more on-screen real estate.
    2. All of the MacBook Pros can run FCE. However the graphics processor in the 13" model will limit some functionality with effects. See Tom's earlier comment.
    3. Not much difference. All these cpu's are fast. There will be more overall system performance gain from the quad core at the slower speed.
    4. FCE cannot use more than 4GB RAM anyway, so the 4GB that comes with every MBP is more than adequate. If you expect to use Aperture or CS5 then go for more RAM, otherwise there's not much reason to add RAM. You will be better off spending your money upgrading to the 7200rpm hard drive.
    5. Everything will be smaller on the high res screen; there are just more pixels (1680x1050) on the same 15.4" screen area. (I have a 15" MBP with the standard 1440x900 screen and it is beautiful.)

  • What kind of company is this? Disrespectful of customers!!!!! CHEAP!

I got a Zen xtra about 7 or 8 months ago. I couple days ago I finished using it and plugged it into its charger. About an hour ago I went to use it again and it wouldn't turn on. I took out the battery and replaced it, and still nothing. So I went and pluged it into the wall. It turned on, but the icon in the corner just displayed a plug, little battery. I take that to mean that Creative is too cheap to do any product testing or quality control. What the F*ck?! I use my Xtra in the car when I go to work, and I plug it back in every night. I have never dropped it. There is NO reason why this should have happened! I see from some other post that other people have this problemn as well! Apparently there is no recourse other then me spending more money and doing without my mp3 player for an extended period of time. Is Creative doing anything about this for people who are out of their 90 days or whatever absurdly short period it is? Let me guess. And what's with only being open for technical support Monday through Friday?! Everyone who is having this problem deserves to have the problem fixed FOR FREE!!! I bought this product thinking that Creative had standards, apparently they don't!
    Joe
And yes I tried disk clean up and flipping the power supply on and off. This battery was never left uncharged for more than a few hours!
What kind of why is this to treat customers?! The d@mn thing didn't even work for a year!

JoeMarzen wrote:I take that to mean that Creative is too cheap to do any product testing or quality control.
In all fairness one product going wrong doesn't equate to poor quality control.
I see from some other post that other people have this problemn as well!
Well you are on a support board, Creative sell millions of players, so like any electronics device unfortunately a small percentage go wrong. This is the nature of commercial electronics unfortunately.
Is Creative doing anything about this for people who are out of their 90 days or whatever absurdly short period it is?
Warranty is partly depedent on the laws of your country. In the EU for example there is legislation to ensure that all electronics must have a minimum warranty of year. Of course in the USA you pay less for these kinds of goods.
I'm fairly sure the Xtra had a warranty of 3 months parts and labour, and 9 months parts only. This might mean you only have to pay an administrati've fee to have it fixed, but double check with support to be sure. Links for contacting support are in the FAQ post.
And what's with only being open for technical support Monday through Friday?!
I agree it's a bit of a pain, but of course Creative are trying to save expense like a lot of other companies.
Everyone who is having this problem deserves to have the problem fixed FOR FREE!!! I bought this product thinking that Creative had standards, apparently they don't!
Unfortunately the warranty had terms and was available for you to see when you bought it. I appreciate it's awful when a device goes wrong, but them's the breaks unfortunately. I hope you can contact support on Monday and get it solved for minimum cost.

Yes it is done through iTunes. The iPhone will never show up in Finder as a device. Maybe I'm fool, but how I get the "day view"? I have three options on the top line, an icon that seems a computer (a square and two lines), a magnifying glass to search a especific item and a "plus" to add appointments. The "day view" isn't any more there - that's the point!!! Using the first icon a get the full month-that uses 2/3 of the screen- and two lines of appointments...To see the rest I have to slide up and down the two lines taking care to not touch the month...

  • My computer will no longer emit sound of any kind, music, video, warning, or otherwise

I'm not sure how it happened, I was trying to play something on itunes when everything froze up and the music stopped. But the problem is not limited to itunes, i can't hear any sound of any kind from my computer. I have checked and the speakers for my computer are labeled as working completely fine, and the computer says that everything appears to be in working order. Except still no sound, whether its music, a video, or even warning sounds or start up sounds the computer naturally makes.
