7.5.5 not recognizing a game application

I have a lovely little copy of 7.5.5 running via Basilisk II. However, it doesn't seem to recognize the games I've saved over the years, specifically Odyssey: Legend of Nemesis. According to the game designer, the game should run in 7 and 9 neatly.
When I try to run any of the games, it says "The document "_____" could not be opened, because the application that created it could not be found." Is there a way to tell the OS that the "document" in question is actually an application?

A message like that can often be seen when one tries to double-click upon a file that has been downloaded through a PC. It is normally essential to keep downloaded Mac files (typically, MacBinary = .bin or BinHex = .hqx) as they are until in a Macintosh environment. Once there, drag the encoded file onto StuffIt Expander for Macintosh (or open the file from within that utility).
Also, in order to fully enjoy older Mac software, it is probably much better to use Macintosh hardware instead of an emulator.

Adobe Edge Animate Cloud installation not recognized by Adobe Application Manager

I installed Adobe Edge Animate with a direct download from the website. In order to have it be recognized by Adobe Application Manager, I trashed the App and downloaded it again through the Adobe Application Manager and installed it. After restarting the computer, the Adobe Application Manager still does not recognize the app and it is listed as "Install" Please advice as how to make Adobe Application Manager recognize Adobe Edge Animate so it is listed a "Up to date"?

I don't think your problem has anything to do with you downloading Edge Animate directly from the website. I setup all Creative Cloud programs through Adobe Application Manager on a clean-installed Mac. Everything looked good for a few months but now Edge Animate and Touch Plug-in Apps always show as "Install" in Application Manager. I installed both like 3 times using the application manager (even though I already had them installed) and that made no difference either. I think problem lies in the application manager. Maybe some Application Manager update that was supposed to fix another issue caused this bug. I'm hoping Adobe is aware of this and working on a fix. While it's purely a cosmetic problem, it's quite annoying to see apps already installed showing up as not installed.

Why is the CC desktop app not recognizing installs of applications?

CC app is installed but does not recognize any oc the instalations of adobe products ( full suite installed)
When running updates through the applications they are run through application manager not the CC Desktop app.

Full Creative cloud suite. Instaled from a file not from the CC desktop app.
There was still cs5.5 installed on the when CC was installed but thats now been uninstalled. I'm guessing adobe application manager should have gone with it but thats what opens when you run updates through photoshop etc. The Desktop app only shows lnks to download/try all the apps that are already installed.

Battlefield 2142 DVD not recognized for game play

So I ran out and bought the new Mac version of Battlefield 2142, install it and then launch the game and I get this error:
"Please ensure Battlefield 2142 installer disc is in the drive. Select ok and restart the application."
Well, the disc IS in the drive and still nothing. I have a lacie external dvd drive - same issue. Tried making a disk image & mounting that & then launching the game - no love there either...
I have an iMac 24" dual 2.33 Ghz, 3 gb RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT.
Any ideas?

InDesign not recognized as an application

OS - Windows XP service pack 3; i have a problem opening projects that have been saved as .indd files. i can't associate the program to the file and can't pick the program when trying to browse through the CS5 folder, even though it shows up as an application. There are no problems opening the application from either the shortcut or through the program folder. Double-clicking on any indesign file prompts the "what application do you want to use" box. i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the suite with no luck. All the other apps are fine. Anyone have any ideas?

Well, that worked! i never noticed there was also a box to check "delete preferences" as well so i did that and it's all good now!!

Camera not recognized after update to mavericks 10.9.1

My MBP camera is not recognized by any applications since I updated the operating system to Mavericks. I updated to the latest version of Mavericks and still no luck. Does anyone know of a fix for this problem? Thank you.

Hey was facing the same problem with my girlfriend's macbook air, but i found a way to solve it:
Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

Xtreme Gamer is "not Supported by the Application" Problem. He

My SoundBlaster XFi Xtreme Gamer has suddenly stopping being detected by my creative software, such as Volume Panel. The drivers are installed, and when I hover my mouse pointer over the volume panel is still shows "SB X-Fi Audo [E000]" which is the sound card, but when I doubled click to open the volume panel it says that "The current selected audio device is not supported by the application. Do you want to select another audio device now?". When I click "Yes", it doesn't show anything on list besides "Windows Default Audio". This happened out of no wheres, with no changes at all to my computer. Volume Panel was working yesterday, but when I woke up today it wasn't. I have no idea what could be causing this, or what caused it... I did update the drivers about a week ago, but it was all working fine since, until today.
I haven't installed or uninstalled anything since it was working properly.
I tried reinstalling drivers and software, and it did not fix anything. I also uninstalled everything including drivers from computer, and used my original installation CD to install everything over again. Every installed fine, but then for some reason it would not install the drivers. Windows was detecting the device, but when I went to install the hardware manually, it would ask for CD to find some files to install... it said this twice, I located the files it needed, and each time it would complete the process it would instantly reboot computer without notice. When the computer was booted up, it would ask then ask again for the Creative CD to install the detected hardware. So I for awhile I could not install the drivers, but for some reason out of no wheres it finally installed when I used the update installation file I downloaded from Creative.com, even though I had tried the same thing a few times, it for some reason installed drivers. But now it is all installed again, my software seems imcomplete and will still not work with the sound device. What seems to be the problem here? Only thing I can think of now is the installation for some reason became corrupted. Only way I can think of fixing it is reformatting my whole computer, but as of right now I don't feel like spending a whole day doing so.
Is there anything that you can think of to fix this problem? I have had the sound card for about a year now. As of right now, I am still using headphones in the soundcard, but it doesn't sound good at all as I can't change anything in software. I also noticed that is no longer has as much installed as it would if I used my original CD. It doesn't have an option to switch sound modes anymore. It also doesn't now have "X-Fi Soundblaster" in "Add/Remove Programs" list. All it has in Add/Remove is "Creative Audo Console".
I uninstalled everything I could and deleted left over files in the Creative directory, so I deleted the whole folder after.
Only other thing I can think of is something in the registery is messed up, and causing the sound card not to be recognized. I also have WinXP SP2.

I spent yet another hour or two trying to fix it, and nothing changed.
I put it into a different PCI slot, and made no difference.
PCI slot doesn't seem to be the problem, I am thinking it is something within the registry itself.
I also put in the CD and there was no option to remove drivers, so I just went ahead and tried overwriting them, but that actually made things worse. My computer kept rebooting over and over when it hit the Windows Boot Up logo, and had to go into safe mode and do a system restore to get it back to normal.
It also keeps asking for the CD when windows loads and it detects the soundcard.
It will ask to locate acouple files, I do what it it says, but just as it is finishing installing the drivers it reboots the system.... when windows is loaded again, it will ask the same thing over, and will keep giving same results.
There isn't anything to completely remove all the creative files and folders including the 00's of registry keys. Maybe Driver Sweeper or Driver Cleaner Pro might help? ill try them, but as of now im not bothering with the soundcard.... ill just reformat. I just hope it ain't the card itself, because I am a month over the one year warranty, and the azzholes from creative said there was nothing they can do about it.
That alone made me want to turn to a different brand next time with better support. Creative has some of the worst support I know of.
They tend to leave people hanging with their defecti've hardware. What I don't get is, that the card still installs the drivers at times, and it will still work but the software won't.
I have been using it this whole time, but seems to freeze up my Guildwars alot.
It still sounds good, way better than Onboard, just not as good as before because there were no options for change mode, or couldn't access the equalizer.
Anyone know of any programs that will completely remove everything for the Xtreme Gamer Creative Software? Including everything in registry.
Also, is it possible that there might be a Windows Service that might have an effect on the problem? I tried enabling a few things, then try rebootin and reinstalling, but didn't seem to help.
But then again, I am not sure which services would cause the problem.
Definately something happened with the last Creative Driver update, only took a week afterwards for something to go wrong.

11.1.2 essbase upgrade not recognizing application files location

I am upgrading an essbase database (Planning) from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2,
I trying to configure 2 essbase servers (original 11.1.1.3 and new 11.1.2) running on 1 physical server using different ports and filesystems
Following all the steps in the Deployment guide in Preparing Essbase Data for Upgrading,
I ran all the steps in the Manual file transfer instructions to copy from source machine to target machine.
I have started the steps in rehosting the essbase applications,
- Completed enable lookup by cluster name:

when i went to run EssbaseUpdateEssbaseServer one of the planning databases did not update i got this error

I followed these instructions and specified a different directory when running the staging tool, the script was empty, i do not believe it should be, it should contain mapping info to update essbase.sec, which it did not

If you replicated data to a new machine, and if you selected Differently-named disk volumes, table spaces, or ARBORPATH on source and target or Consolidated disk volumes or tablespaces on target by exporting data during data replication, you must run a script immediately after configuring Essbase to update the Essbase security file to reflect the disk volumes on the upgraded system. The Essbase Staging Tool provides a script to update the settings in the security file (essbase.sec):
Start the Essbase Server and EPM System services. Navigate to ARBORPATH/app on the machine that is hosting the upgraded Essbase Server and run the following script using MaxL:
%ARBORPATH%/bin/startMaxl.bat -u userName editagtsec.msh
where userName is the Administrator user name to connect to the upgraded Essbase server. The script prompts you to enter the password.
Note:
editagtsec.msh could be empty in some scenarios. For example, when you launched the Staging Tool, the Staging Tool reports on existing volumes. If no volumes are listed, editagtsec.msh is empty.

I just bought a new ipod and I'm trying to download my itunes library and games but itunes is not recognizing my new ipod. I have followed all the instructions from apple asistant except deleting and reinstalling itunes. What can I do.

I bought a new Ipod (5th generation). I am trying to sync it to my itunes. I tunes does not recognize my new ipod. It is registered. I was only able to download purchases I made from my old ipod. I cannot download my itunes library or any of the games I have purchased. I tried using the troubleshooting guide to no avail. The only thing I did not do was to uninstall and reinstall itunes. I did update it to the latest version. How can I get itunes to recognize my new ipod?

Not recognizing # while reading the file from application server

I am reading a file from application server. While reading into internal table with read statement the last field in each record is filling with hash symbol in the last digit. If I write any if condition with HASH symbol its not going inside the if condition, means its not recognizing as hash may be its internally treating as some other. I need to remove the hash from that field. How I can do that.

I faced exact situation. Yes, internally its treated as some other special character. What i did was, becuase hash symbol was always coming at the end...i created a dummy field in my internal table so that it will not interfere with my actual data. When i see the data in my internal table, the hash always falls in the last field (dummy) which i will ignore. I could not get solution to remove this hash so i adopted this approach and it worked!!

My exported JPGs are not recognized by Preview or Microsoft applications

Just converted from Photoshop to Lightroom on my Mac (O/S 10.7.5). I love the flexibility and speed but my exported JPGs are not recognized by Preview or any Microsoft application (Word, PowerPoint, etc). The only applications that will open them are LR or PS. I am exporting them from LR as JPGs.
What am I doing wrong?

That's very odd. Could you attach a screen shot of your Export dialogue? Make sure it includes File Settings and Image Sizing:
You can use the "camera" icon (in the Forum's Reply tool bar) to attach the screen shot.
Also, it would be helpful to place one of the ill-behaved, exported JPEGs in a service like DropBox and post a link to it, so we can take a close look at it.

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via control centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off'). If you are talking about a third-party app (like Bluefire Reader) you need to connect your iPad to your computer, open iTunes, select the iPad, and select Apps in the Sidebar.
