Tables are not split.
Some question arise here for me:
- Why do we get so many "Semaphore Waits" although we are not accessing tables in parallel? Why do read operations have to be done atomically?
- Why do we get IOWait(R)(041)? Can it be so common that the same two pages are trying to be read twice? Those (041) occur, if I keep x_cons running, in half of the UKTs.

Hi,
Nearly all tasks with the status "Semaphore Wait" run in threads being active for other tasks::
- T86    8  20439 User     29601* Semaphore Wait          0               19929257(d),
Aktive task in thread 8:  T114   8  20439 User     29435**Enter ExclLock        1 0     18        19929257(d)
- T93   13  20444 User     29737* Semaphore Wait          0               18315751(d)
  T87   13  20444 User     29765* Semaphore Wait          0               18315751(d)
Active task in thread 13:   T107  13  20444 User     26750**Enter ExclLock        1 0     18        18315751(d)
- T96   11  20442 User     27767* Semaphore Wait          0               15100349(r)
Active task in thread 11: T123  11  20442 User     26630* Running                 5     22        15100349(r)
- T131  14  20445 User     28558* Semaphore Wait          0               17785567(d)
Active task in thread 14: T110  14  20445 User     29476**Enter ExclLock        1 0     66        17785567(d)
- T164  12  20443 User     23832* Semaphore Wait          0               15624900(r)
Active task in thread 12: T82   12  20443 User     29455* Running                 10    67        15624900(r)
Only thread 7 is not scheduled on CPU.
Nevertheless there was a bottleneck on the reagions 18 and 66 at this particular time of the x_cons run. The database might need more data cache stripes (parameter DataCacheStripes).
The status "IOWait(R)(041)" can mean the tasks are waiting for I/O pre-fetching. The system views IOJOBS and the x_cons command SHOW IOPENDING give information about the running I/O orders.

  • Ajax Waiting during Export

    Post Author: benoit
    CA Forum: Exporting
    Hi everybody,
I would like my users to know when my my report is gonna be available and easily indicate them that thez have to wait during the export processing.
So the actions must be :
    - User Click to export
    - ajax waiting logo during export
    - ( here is an pdf export so ... ) the page open save ... is shown so that you can open your pdf doc.
    - End of the waiting logo on my calling page.
Someone could help on this type of solution because I tried a clientCallback in .NET 2.0 but it seems to be a problem using this
due to the call of response.end when the export. Indeed, after the response.end , there is nothing and i'm not able to say what is happening ( when I debug : my code is stopped on this and it's freezed here ! )
I think that it's not an ambigous problem but I don't have a great experience in Web pages so that's why i ask you for your help .
    Thanks everybody.

  • App hung on "waiting"; during update, I lost my wifi connection; now cannot delete to reinstall (no X), syc does not help; itunes store says it is installed and I cannot reinstall; deleting from itunes and synching does not remove "hung app"; HELP

App hung on "waiting"; during update, I lost my wifi connection and the app hung; now cannot delete to reinstall (no X), synching does not help; itunes app store says it is installed, therefore I cannot reinstall; deleting the app from itunes and synching does not reinstall the app on the ipod; the app developers have not helped and told me to check with Apple (which I am doing, since I am past my 90 day tech support). Hoping someone can help with this hung "waiting' app problem.

    - First try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next download the app on the computer and try to sync.
    - Last, restore from backup.

  • PREEMPTIVE_OS_FILEOPS waits during restore

We received a new server running Windows 2012 and SQL Server 2012 SP1. When we are restoring a database 3.5TB in size split into 24 Data Files and 1 Log file. It takes somewhere between 50-80 minutes where restore does not show sys.dm_exec_requests.percent_complete
progress but instead it waits on wait type PREEMPTIVE_OS_FILEOPS whereas our current restores on another Windows 2008 SP2 / SQL 2012 SP1 combination shows a value in sys.dm_exec_requests.percent_complete right away almost. I turned on Trace flags 3004 and
3605 to verify Instant File initialization works on Data files and confirmed only the log file is zero initiated. Our San guys say they do not see any activity during the time the restore waits on PREEMPTIVE_OS_FILEOPS wait type.
What can be causing this long PREEMPTIVE_OS_FILEOPS wait during the restore?

    Hi Gokhan Varol,
I am trying to involve someone more familiar with this topic for a further look at this issue. Sometime delay might be expected from the job transferring. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

You are referrring to how long it takes to startup your Mac?
If so, open System Preferences > General
Deselect:  Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps
And remove any apps in HD > Library > Startupitems
Make sure there's at least 15% free space on the startup disk.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac then click More Info then select the Storage tab from the menu.
If you have anti virus software installed, disable or uninstall the software to see if that makes a difference.

  • Query identified as OracleOEM reporting a lot of CPU wait time

We use "Ignite" by Confio to monitor the wait time on our database and I have been watching a query for a while now and it seems to be consuming a lot of resources for what it is doing.

My question is two fold... does anybody know where in OEM you can control the execution of this query? I would like to reduce the frequency it is run, or if that is not a good idea does anybody have any ideas from a tuning perspective?
Ignite is reporting 1,440 executions, 621,776,455 buffer gets, and 2 hours of CPU wait time per day.
    Thanks in advance,
    Zack

A typical question for this forum.
We use Oracle, we can't remember which version, and we can't be bothered to post it.
We don't know Oracle, so we use a third party product (Ignite from Confio) to perform redundant monitoring on our databases, which is already being performed by Oracle Enterprise Manager, for free.
Instead of trying to use the products which come with Oracle, we would like to wreck functionality, by tampering with things like frequency, and/or even adjusting Oracle provided queries, consequently invalidating our support contract for Oracle.
And, no, we are not aware, provided the database is doing nothing, queries like this one will automatically surface in the list of top <n> queries.
I would suggest you start to learn Oracle and dump Ignite. It is of no use to monitor your database with two tools, and OEM is fully integrated in Oracle.

  • Lots of "Cleaning Up" during render -- problem?

If I twirl open the triangle thingy during a certain project, there's a lot of "cleaning up" stages. What is this? Is it bad?

I doubt you could really optimize it. You could try to pre-compose some of the glows in cropped comps (if they only affect certain parts of the image and that is feasible), so this way you can limit the dilation/ expansion of pixels in all directions, but that's probably as good as it gets. As an alternative you can of course always find alternate third-party effects for such things, which may prove more processing and memory friendly. E.g. Sapphire has several different glow plugins. Or you use tools like Magic Bullet Looks that have internal diffusion/blur/glow operators running on the graphics card...

  • Inspection lot not getting generated during SD delivery

    Hi QM experts,
I am working on QM in SD function. I activated inspection type 10 in the material master in QM view as shown below.
I created a QM info record SD through QV51 for the combination of customer and Sales organization and assigned the material and quality inspection as before delivery as shown below.
Now I created a sales order for the material with sales organization and when I making the delivery system is allowing delivery and no inspection lot is generated and delivery is also not stopped. am i missing something..can u please guide..
    Thanks
    Kumar

    Hello,
You have activated 10 and 11 both , any specific reason ?
If you activated 10, then system will allowed you delivery check QM customization---> During Shipping. have you assigned inspection type against Delivery type in customization ?

  • Wait during execution of an Message-Driven Bean

    Hello Everybody,
I am new to JMS and trying to build my first Messagedriven Application. Although I think I understood the basic concept behind JMS (IMHO) I am having build what I want.
    The Problem:
Whenever a message is put in the Queue of the MDB, it will write a XML file to a FTP-Server with a request to generate a response XML. Because the FTP Server will need time to generate the response, I cannot (would not make sense) execute the "GetResponse" Method immediatly. Is there something like a "wait for x seconds" approach in this case possible? Would you suggest something different?
    Thank you very much!
    Cheers
    Martin

sorry English is not my native language - I will try my best.No problem :-)
My issue is that between the request and the response can be quite a timespan (e.g. 20 Minutes).
Therfore it makes no sense to download the xml directly after saving the request XML on the FTP Server. Hopefully, this made my issue clear.I understand. When the MDB downloads the response XML from the remote FTP server. it presumably does something with the information it receives. Does this need to be done in the MDB, or can you use some other program to handle the responses?
That is, you have two separate programs running:
    1. MDB which receives messages from the queue. When a message is received it sends a request to the FTP server.
    2. Some other program downloads XML files from the ftp server and processes them.

  • BBM on BB Classic eating up a lot of mobile data during one day and without reason

Hello, on August 1, BBM (10.9.5.22) on my Classic (software release 10.3.1.1779) suddenly consumed about 125 megabytes of data via mobile network within one day, without having used BBM for anything but a few text messages and with only one chat having been active. Maybe there were about two photos, but only in the default low resolution which are never above a few hundred kilobytes. Is anyone able to explain this behaviour? I'm a little bit frustrated as 125 megabytes are a lot if the free "high speed" volume per month is only several 100 megabytes, and BBM consumes a lot of it right of the beginning of a month And otherwise, e.g. for video calling, it asks if you really want to do that on a mobile network...  Thanks for any idea and best regards, Hans-Juergen

The frustration continues... now BBM consumes at least (!) 40 megabytes per day, by only using it for a fwe text messages. However, I found an interesting knowledge base article saying that "BBM" within the device monitor might be related to other tasks using an "EBMService". http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB36954 Here are the most recent mobile data usage graphs - totals first:  Then BBM details:  As a comparison, the previous month. On July 18th I started using BBM, and it seems it already started eating mobile data there right away:  Before I started using BBM, 500 megabytes per month were more than enough. Now it seems as if BBM alone will berak my current 1 GB limit far before the end of this month! By searching the forum, I found multiple similar issues, but none of them solved completely. Except for the parental control attempt, but as I want to use BBM, that is not appropriate for me. http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BBM-for-BlackBerry/BBM-high-data-wi-fi-usage/m-p/3110624 http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BBM-for-BlackBerry/Extreme-BBM-Data-usage-this-past-month/m-p/3104776 http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BBM-for-BlackBerry/BBM-Data-usage-extremely-high/m-p/3098544 http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BBM-for-BlackBerry/BBM-extreme-data-usage/m-p/3079395

  • E50 long time waiting during update

Hello. I have an e50 and software version is 6.27.1.0
I want update to 7.13.0.0 but when update step is 3/3 (Preparing installation) waiting very long time.
    There is a problem?
I'm waiting 20 mins yet and not a progress.
    Regards.
    http://img238.imageshack.us/img238/679/nokiaxz5.jpg

Alright, got it figured out! After searching for "Preparing installation" I found some more posts with the same problem, and apparently, as long as you can still access the menu and the software is only preparing it's no problem to disconnect the phone.
I disconnected, rebooted Windows, and then redid the whole procedure, and the "preparing"-part went over to the actual installation (during which the phone apparently powers down) within 30 seconds. Installation then took about 10 mins for me.

  • App is stuck on "waiting" during download. Cant delete it on my iphone or on itunes. I need help.

Hi. I need help with my iphone. Yesterday I downloaded an applicationa dn it is just stuck on "waiting." It will not delete when I go on Itunes or if I try to delete it on my phone. How do I delete it so I can reinstall it on my iphone? Thanks.

What exactly happens when you try to restore via iTunes? Error message?

  • Kindle app stuck on "waiting" during an update. Will not install and cannot be deleted.

Kindle app will not complete the installation process for the latest update (version 3.9.1). Icon is grayed out on home screen with "waiting" listed below it. No x appears when the other apps jiggle so I cannot delete it or uninstall. Have tried rebooting the phone multiple times with no changes. When syncing to computer, Kindle app status changes to "installing" but it remains frozen and grayed out. No problems with wireless connection. Other apps update fine and I have enough space in storage. This have been going on for over a week. Already talked to Amazon-Kindle and their only suggestion was to remove/uninstall the app, which I cannot do. When i search for the Kindle App in the App store, the status always says installing and is grayed out. Thanks for any help or tips!

    Hi,
Any feedback as yet on the above problem as I have had the same problem since the 8th of August?

  • Lots of waiting... Mid 2010 Mac Mini

I've got a new Mac Mini, with 2.4GHZ and 8 Gig of ram.... I spend lots and lots and lots of time waiting. Internet, saving files etc. It's a very clean machine without much on it, but really, it's a bit of a dog. The older Mac Mini was faster for many, many many tasks..... Any clue where to look?
BTW, using 5 gig N network was unusable, had to go back to 2.4. That helped with network hangups. I don't think any of the web stuff is the router, as I have an XP machine with no delays on the 5G N setup. But really, when I save a file in Numbers, I get delays that shouldn't be there. When I boot iTunes, it takes forever compared to the old machine.
If this is the future, I'm worried.....
    Matt

I think you have to break down the perceived slowness into manageable pieces.
First off, 30 seconds for software update to check is normal. So let's eliminate that as an issue.
Second, if you are dealing with newly established hard drives, spotlight indexing can really slow the Mini down during the initial index.
Third, don't ignore the network as being a source of slowness. I would eliminate Wifi as an issue by using ethernet cable to connect to your router until you get the slowness sorted out.
If ethernet cable doesn't make things better, then you need to see if there is a DNS issue. Sometimes manually adding the OpenDNS servers clears things up.
Other times, turning off (or on) IPv6 improves network issues.
You don't say which version your old Mini was. But if you are running old PPC apps, that could also being injecting slowness.
Finally, if you have needed files mounted on remote volumes and there is a slowdown in your LAN or WAN (if mounted on iDisk, for example), this could block you Mini's performance.
