9.0.2 portal on NT/Win2k - single host for infrastructure and midtier

We're having myriad problems/bugs with a 9.0.2 portal implementation on Windows 2000. We've implemented both the infrastructure and mid-tier on the same host, a hefty new Compaq.
Has anybody had any luck with this type of OS/single host deployment of portal 9.0.2?

I have managed to get it to "work" - though not on that OS. We are using Solaris 8 for this and it took me a little over three weeks to get it to a "workable" state.
I found a couple of things that may help though:
order of install is very important. As the documentations says install the infrastructure first then the mid-tier. What it doesn't mention (at least not where I was reading) was to configrue the oem reporting website after the infrastructure install and BEFORE the mid-tier install. I overcame a number of problems doing it this way.
Also, after each install exit OUI. It's strange but it works. Oracle makes some mention that they do not support multiple installs in the same session. It's in only one of the many documents I read on this website.
Edit the httpd.conf to auto start Jserv and hard code the ports for the sucker. Don't depend on it doing itself manually.
Also, make sure the jserv.conf line in httpd.conf is uncommented.
Also, under unix before each install explicitly indicate which ORACLE_HOME you are installing into (I guess this may mean to manually enter the ORACLE_HOME values in the Windows registry). Do not unset the ORACLE_HOME value as the Oracle documentation states when doing the second install - hard code it yourself.
Check on the DISPLAY value in jserv.properties (for both mid-tier and infrastructure - I am guessing that you may not need to do this but for Unix it's a big thing and causes a huge number of errors).
Uncomment the following line in jserv.properties if your version of the jdk is higher than 1.2.2a:
#wrapper.env=JAVA_COMPILER=NONE
verify that the cgi-bin virtual directory is set properly in oem.conf found in /db/d01/oracle/ora9ias/oem_webstage if the following sections is found in oem.conf (it points to the Apache cgi-bin directory):
DirectoryIndex emwebsite.html
ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ "/db/d01/oracle/ora9ias/Apache/cgi-bin/"
ScriptAlias /oem_webstage/cgi-bin/ "/db/d01/oracle/ora9ias/Apache/cgi-bin/"
Alias /oem_webstage/ "/db/d01/oracle/ora9ias/oem_webstage/"
Change it to reflect the cgi-bin of the oem website
DirectoryIndex emwebsite.html
ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ "/db/d01/oracle/ora9ias/oem_webstage/cgi-bin/"
ScriptAlias /oem_webstage/cgi-bin/ "/db/d01/oracle/ora9ias/oem_webstage/cgi-bin/"
Alias /oem_webstage/ "/db/d01/oracle/ora9ias/oem_webstage/"
When the infrastructure in installed always, always start dcmctl (the Oracle http server) before starting the Enterprise manager during the startup of the server else you will get passwords that are not synced. Same for when you need to restart the httd server - shutdown the enterprise manager website down first, make your changes, shutdown the httd server, start it up and then restart the enterprise manager.
Just some things that I can think of off the top of my head right now.
Now if only the mid-tier would have installed the Portal to the default port rather than one I did not choose. That's a whole nuther story.
Good luck.

  • Single URL for internal and external CRM access when using IFD

    Hello,
    At one of our client site I have setup IFD on CRM 2011. This IFD is behind TMG. My client is a big corporation therefore all CRM components including CRM, ADFS and SQL are on separate servers.
    I have configured IFD using single url https://orgname.contoso.com Their IT staff wants to know why can't they use single URL for internal and external access where internal users are nto prompted for authentication
    when logging on to the CRM server. I know you can do URL re-write in ADFS but they want to know the reason "why internal users can't use the same IFD URL and don't get prompted for their credentials". Text below is from their IT staff.

    There are several approaches to your question.  You need to set up both an internal and an external relying party trust. If you use the external URL, it will always direct you to the signin page, if you use the internal URL, it will resolve you single
    sign on.
    I've configured IFD for CRM multiple times, and this is how it works. CRM looks at the URL. If you use the external URL (org.domain.com), it will prompt for credentials. So what you are asking for, a single URL that works single sign on internally and prompts
    externally really isn't possible.
    What I recommend is:
    1. make the external URL available internally
    2. Configure all outlook clients against the external URL, that way you won't have to reconfigure when someone goes internal to external
    3. Have users who are primarily internal use the internal URL for the web client, which will resolve single sign on
    4. Have users who are primarily external use the external URL for the web client
    For #1, since you only need to enter the credentials when you first configure CRM, it is in all effects single sign on.
    One thing I haven't tried that may work is using IIS redirect internally to redirect the external URL to the internal URL. There is also a powershell script in the IFD guide that you can use to make the outlook client switch between the internal and external
    URL's, but nothing that will give you a single URL that works as the internal relying party trust when internal and the external relying party trust when you are external.

  • Single Host for netweaver/xi & Idoc settings in ale

    HI,
    In the case of a single system which is the R/3 system as well as the xi system...what settings are to be done from ALE to enable idoc processing...is this the same as a dual system configuration..or ?
    I am pasting some of the steps suggested for the ale configuration.
    Can anyone re-organize this or format this so that it applies for a single system that is the db host, Xi Host, and r/3 host.
    There are several ways of doing it, all eventually leading to the same conclusion..but in the case of a non-distrubuted system, there are some differences..<b>Can someone put some clarity here</b>...as i have tried the steps and not all of them clearly apply in the case of a single host.

    -Representation of a system R/3 will communicate with
    -Every R/3 client used in ALE must have a logical system associated
    -BD54 – change logical systems (add), SCC4 – change clients (attach logical system)
    -Stored in tables TBDLS and TBDLST
    <b>Ports</b>
    -Logical representation of a communication channel
    -How you refer tie together RFC destinations with partner system
    -WE21 or WEDI
    <b>Partner Profile</b>
    -Ties together many pieces of the ALE puzzle
    -Message types, IDoc types, process codes, partner functions, application identifiers, message function, output type, and port
    -Maintain inbound and outbound parameters (partner type, port, transfer immediately or collect IDocs)
    -WE20, WEDI, or SALE
    -Viewed as a gateway, routes a particular message of a specific IDoc type to the given port and invoking the appropriate function modules
    The next thing you have to do is configure the IDoc adapter in XI to prepare the system to accept IDoc's into the integration builder from other SAP systems.

  • How to use a single page for create and update mode.

    Hi,
    I need to develop a single page to be used for both create and update modes.
    I am going to use a variable MODE
    and i will set this in the emp summary page.
    Based on the button clicked by the user i have to render the JSF page.
    For tis if the user selects a perticular and cliks on update thn i will pass the empno to the next.
    so there in the next i will appy a ViewCreiteria on my View Obj to fetch only that row so that only that emp will be displayed ion update mode.
    This is working fione for me.
    So now the issue is
    when the user clicks on CreatEmp button.
    i need to enable my VO for insert operations.
    for this i wrote the code like this in the beforePhase event
    FacesContext ctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    ValueBinding valBinding = ctx.getApplication().createValueBinding("#{data}");
    BindingContext bContext = (BindingContext) valBinding.getValue(ctx);
    DCDataControl dcControl = bContext.findDataControl("DataControl");
    Application app = ctx.getApplication();
    ApplicationModule am = (ApplicationModule) dcControl.getDataProvider();
    System.out.println("After Appmodule initiation");
    // get the VO reference and initiate the query
    System.out.println("Before Page VO initiation");
    PrismDmPageSectionViewImpl vo = (ViewImpl)am.findViewObject("View");
    //ViewRowImpl row = (ViewRowImpl) vo.createRow();
    /* TO CREATE AN EMPTY ROW*/
    Row row=vo.createRow();
    System.out.println("New Row is created");
    //vo.createKey(row);
    vo.insertRow(row);
    vo.setCurrentRow(row);
    By doing this a new empty page is rendered.
    But when i fill up the values and click on ok.. i am getting the error like this..
    JBO-27023: Failed to validate all rows in a transaction.
    JBO-27027: Missing mandatory attributes for a row with key null of type View3
    JBO-27014: Attribute Id in View3 is required
    JBO-27014: Attribute PageeId in View3 is required
    Please point me out where i am missing.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    In my opinion you are over complicating things.
    This is what I do for using the sme page as both create and update without all this code.
    1) Create a browse page containing a an adf table with a select one component bound to your view object.
    2) Create an additional edit page containing only an edit form containing fields of your view object that your users must enter in order to add or edit rows.
    3) Link the pages in the JSF diagram with an "edit" navigation case from browse to edit page and a "return" navigation case from edit to browse (make sure that redirect option is NOT set on both cases)
    4) Remove the submit button from the edit page and add two application module bindings for the commit and rollback operations as command buttons in the form footer facet. Make sure that both buttons has an action of return and that their disabled property is set to false. You will probably change their labels to ok and cancel respectively.
    5) Drop a create action for your view object from the data control palette inside your page as a command button and set the action property to edit also.
    3) Set the action property of the view button to edit
    This should basically work without any code from your part. -- at least it does so for me -- if you like to make it a bit more funcy you may add am action listener inside your buttons and set a requeScope variable for example #{requestScope.editing} to true or false depending on the button clicked. Then add a title to your page with a value like #{requestScope.editing == true ? 'Editing record' : 'Adding a new record'}..
    Hope that helps.
    Thanassis

  • Using single repository for Customer and Vendor

    Hi All
    Has anyone worked in scenario where a single repository was used to store both Customer and Vendor records? The source and Target systems are SAP ECC and MDM will have both Basic as well as contextual data.
    I would like to know the likely challenges. Anyone who has worked on similar grounds can please share his viewpoints.
    thanks
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
    As you want to manage both Cutomer and Vendor data in MDM you need to consider the following points:
    - If you are seeing the Customer and Vendor master as a combiantion satisfying some common criteria,then you can go about using the SAP delieverd Business partner rep which is designed keeping the ECC customer and Vendor details to an extent.You can unarchieve the BP rep in MDM and have a look at its data modelling if it serves your purpose.
    - As of MDM 5.5 we do not have provision of holding two master records in a single rep as we can use only 1 main table.So if you want to fit in your customer and vendor masters in one rep you will have to accomodate the combined fields under a single rep with proper data modelling.
    - You need to store your two masters in two separate rep and perform data modelling in such a way that your one rep hold those common fields which you wish to use for finding duplicates as mentioned in your above req and then store this information with the complete rest in a dfferent rep.So its a 2 rep concept as possible with teh current MDM version.
    - I am not very sure of this method but i think we have a provision of calling and linking data from two rep and display them as one to work upon them through EP.
    Hope It Helped
    Thanks & Regards

  • Single WLC for Corporate and Guests

    Hi, We are looking into deploying Wirelss on our corporate network. There are a few branch office and a central office, we want to use a single WLC if possible which will allow both internal and guest user traffic whilst isolating guest traffic.
    I understand there is the option of placing an Anchor WLC in the DMZ for guest traffic and an internal one, but it's a bit of overkill given the limited access required for guests at this stage.
    Is the above possible to place the WLC in the DMZ or on the internal network whilst having the guest user traffic terminate in the DMZ and isolated from internal traffic.
    The WAN to branch offices are IP WAN and is it possible to somehow bridge them back to the central office WLC?
    Thanks

    There are a lot of variables that would go into this.  In my environment, I have a 6500 and a couple of WiSM controllers.  I also have a FWSM that is seated in a different 6500.  What I did was create a vlan and map that vlan to my FWSM as a DMZ.  Then I set up the approprate firewall rules to seperate that vlan from everything else.  Then I just trunked that vlan to the 6500 that my WLCs are seated in.  I then created a dynamic interface on my WLCs that pointed to this vlan and created an SSID that was meant to be a Guest SSID using Layer 3 security (Web Auth).  Works pretty well.

  • Single condition for contract and domestic sales

    Dear All,
    I just want to know is there any possibility to go with one condition type for contract and regular sales as in case of regular price will be determined automatically and not modifible, where as based on the requirement contract price condition will be created.
    Now under this process there is a problem and it is picking contract price in regular sales order also, but i want contract price need to be triggered only when it is referenced.
    Thanks
    Srini

    Hi,
    As I understood you want to have same Condition type (Say PR00) to have in  both Sales Document types. (In other words to have same condition type in both pricing procedures used for Contract & Sales Order)
    Since you want to set "Not modifiable" when it's in the sales order & when it's in Contract you want to manually enter same condition, this is not possible.
    Because, "Manual entries" control is inside the Condition Type.
    IMG Path:
    Sales and Distribution -> Basic Functions -> Pricing -> Pricing Control -> Define Condition Types -> Maintain Condition Types
    Therefore you can set it only for a condition type. Where is for PR00 it's either "Manual entry has priority" or "No limitations" or "Automatic entry has priority" or " Not possible to process manually"
    Therefore you cannot have same condition to satisfy both requirements. In that case you have to have 2 condition types,
    Best regards,
    Anupa

  • One single button for "Ready" and "Not Ready"?

    Hi all!
    Is there a possibility to assign a service URL for changing the agent state from "Ready" to "Not Ready"? Just like the "One Button Login" ...
    Best regards; Florian

    I think this is what you are looking for. If you are using IPPA then you can use something like this as a registered service. It's what our installer configured for us.
    http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:PORT/ipphone/js/sciphonexml/IPAgentChangeState.jsp?State=3&RC
    The 3 is your Agent State Code for Not Ready. For Ready just change it to a 4.
    Word of caution: Agents can not go from one Not Ready state into another Not Ready state if you are using Reason Codes. We have our agents selecting a Not Ready code from a list and with the IPPA you have to first select Ready then select Not Ready to change this state. If you are using CAD this is not an issue. Becomes a real problem if you have agents who came back from a meeting and need to go to lunch but there are calls in queue. If anyone knows a way to work around that little problem I'd be eternally grateful.

  • Can I have a Single Licence for Windows and Mac?

    I have PS CS4 for Windows installed on my desktop computer. I have recently bought a MacBook Pro. Can I install PS on my new laptop using my Windows licence or must I buy another licence.

    If you have a windows clone software installed, then it should be fine. But if you want the mac version of photoshop, then normally you would buy the CS4 photoshop for Mac as the CD version comes with only 1 license for 1 platform.
    However, since CS4 is not the current version you could subscribe to the cloud and that license is for Windows and Mac.

    Hi All,
    Good evening. Can we configure one button for DN(Line) and SD. Our requirement is we need to configure one button for incoming and SD to a particular number.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards
    Sankar.

    Hi Thomas,
    The calls (inbound & outbound) would be passing through PSTN line, as it is not for internal. when ever an external customer calls complete DID number from a fixed number of their , it should hit that particular line button and for outgoing when ever we want to dial that particular PSTN number , we need to use the same button assigned to that particular external customer. So will this work?

    Hi Kevin,
    1. Create two seprate Oracle homes. Use the same user to install both.
    2. Are you refering to changing ORACLE_HOME, etc?
    3. Both. To save memory you can shut them down when you don't need them.
    4. Use the quick installation guide. You can find it under documentation here on OTN.
