9i client installation program "hangs up"
Hope some one can help with a problem I encountered while trying to install the version 9 client on my windows machine.
I downloaded the version 9 client for windows (twice to be sure it was not a corruption issue).
When install it using the oracle installation program it stops running with this message displaying "copying regsvr32.exe". It just hangs up at this point (I've waited over 30 minutes). When I exit, it does ask if I really want to exit.
Any clues on what to do??
Thanks for any assistance

Client Installation Program Creator fails
I just bought the latest release of Apple Remote and was planning to start installing clients on our 50 Macs. Unfortunatelly, when asked to save the client installation program, I get the same message:
Let me translate : "An error occured while trying to access the required components"
Just to be sure, I followed the following steps and reinstalled after : Uninstall or disable Apple Remote Desktop - Assistance Apple
Seriously? A freshly installed so called pro software with such a bug ? Thanks for helping folks !!Either way, if you had the original CD or the downloaded zip file it works exactly just the same, unless you downloaded another client version.
Was it the regular aix client (10gr2_aix5l64_client.cpio.gz) or the instant cliet for aix (http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/htdocs/aix5lsoft.html)
On the first case, just unzip and cpio the file.

Creating Client Installation Program fails
How do you install Remote Desktop on clients? Creating the client installation program fails every time I try. The error message is Apple unspecific ([translated] There was an error trying to access the required components. Please try again). This happens on the last page of the wizard.
Thanks. This command works far quicker for me IMO:
/System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Resources/ki ckstart -activate -configure -clientopts -setmenuextra -menuextra no
Select your workstations and send the command as root. The above is all on one line. -

Ran setup.exe as administrator, but the installation always hangs after step 5 of 7 is completed (Perform Prerequisite checks). Install log ends with entry "INFO: Get view named [SummaryUI]"
What am I missing here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Problem with program hanging randomly on certain commands from win 7 pro client to SB Server
Having a problem with program hanging randomly on certain commands from Win-7 Pro Client to SB Server Both 64-Bit
Five other slower XP-Pro 32 Bit systems though they are older and slower systems do not seem to hang as readily if at all.
It has been very frustrating as the Client-System, SB-Server and Program should work w/o any hitches, but this seems to work fine @ times and then hang randomly.
Would appreciate any and all suggestions in assisting.... JimBAgde-MSSYou can try this, as I have had similar problems with another MS Access .MDB file and slow access before. This fixed my problem for me. On the slow computer, make sure the program is set to see the .mdb file via UNC path, not a mapped drive letter. ex.
USE: \\yourserver\shared\dental\file.mdb
DO NOT: S:\\shared\dental\file.mdb
hope this helps -

Edited by: user8901423 on 17.12.2009 03:21Although I didn't have any problems to install the client on Windows XP (assuming it's Professional, not Home), you may try a custom installation instead of 'runtime'. The last lines in the logfile refer to the .net component, not sure whether there's a problem.

Oracle 8.1.7 Client Installation Error
Could anyone tell me what's wrong when JREW error occur during Oracle Client Installation? How to overcome this problem?
The details are:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
Jrew caused an invalid page fault in module JAVAI.DLL at 018f:6ee37f8a.
Registers: ......
(OS Win98)
Thanks in advance. You are aware that the 8.1.7 client is only going to enable you to connect to Oracle systems, right? It's not the Oracle 8.1.7 database.
You should be able to unzip the file and find the Oracle Universal installer which will actually install the 8.1.7 Client for you. -

Business One Client installation issue
Last Friday we upgraded our SAP Busness One to 8.81 from 8.8 and the update launched for the client installation on XP Pro box, but the installation got interupted and did not complete. I was faced with the problem that I can't uninstall the old client with Add/Remove programs as it has an error that files are missing. the same is if I click on the Setup.exe in the Client shared folder, it wants to uninstall the old version, but bombs as it is missing files.
The question is how do I manually uninstall the old client so I can do a new install of the new version?
As a bandaid, I was able to upgrade another XP Pro box and copy the directory into the probelm one and it lets SAP Business One run. However, I am missing a couple of registry entries.Same happen to me month back , it was unable to uninstall or remove registry from the system and when we start the new setup it says you already have SAP B1 installed in your system. I check the Program Files folder and there is no SAP folder in it .
Solution but not a professional one...
Just copy the SAP folder from other system which has client installed and working properly and paste it into Program Files .
Now you can run SAP

Installer setup hangs under Windows 8.1
I've got a Officejet 4500 which could be installed without problems under XP, Win 7 and Win 8.0. Now I bought a brandnew Windows 8 notebook (Acer Aspire) and updated to 8.1. Then I started the appropriate setup executable OJ_AIO_4500_G510g-m_Full_Win_WW_140_408.exe. At first try the program window opened and hung with the initial step (system checking). At later tries the file has been extracted but no window opened. In Task Manager I found the process "HP installer setup" using 30% CPU, but I was forced to kill this process finally.
The printer itself is now installed (I'm able to see the printer and to use it) but the Solution Center and the Scan/Fax capabilities are not available. I even used with the installation assistent. I stopped the firewall, no success. The idea to stop all Window services found in this forum seemed somewhat heavy to me. So what might be the reason that the Window doesn't open and the programs hangs?
best regards
ThomasHi all, I am sorry to hear that you are all having problems installing the Version 13 and 14 HP software for your printers.
We (HP) are very interested in helping fixing this problem and getting the full install of the printer software.
Can you all help us out by answering a few questions about how you got to your version of Windows 8.1 and how the printer is installed.
What version of Windows 8.1 are you using?
How did you arrive at theis version of Windows 8.1 (Upgrade [CD or Windows Store] or new install or Clean Install)?
What Printer were you trying to install?
What version of the HP Software were you trying to install and how did you get it? (Web download or CD)?
How is the PC connected to your Printer (Network or USB)?
Also I would like anyone who is willing to Submit Installation Logs to us to Private Message me and I will contact you about how to collect them and where to send them after collection.
Thanks

Oracle 8i Client Installation Error

RichardCurrently no oracle software is certified on Win 8.1, so your attempt may or may not succeed. If it does succeed, the software may or may not work as expected. What is the business/technical reason for installing on an unsupported OS ?

Edited by: 923748 on Mar 27, 2012 11:00 AMI don't think the test-scsi command is viable for that platform.
The FC disks are "viewed" by the system as external to the SCSI controller, almost as if they were in a multi-pack.
They are FC drives addressed by the chipset as SCSI disks.
Try:
<pre>probe-scsi-all</pre>
Edit:
Which release of Solaris 10 are you trying to install?
Older releases that might be fine for V480's won't work on V490's.

Hello Forum,
I'm currently tuning some SQLs with parameters that run some minutes. When I enter the SQL in the worksheet and press F9, SQL Developer asks for the parameters. But after clicking "Apply" (or whatever it is called in the english version, I'm using german ;-)
I get the elapsed time of 0.018 seconds displayed and the whole program hangs until the SQL is completed. The elapsed time is not updated so I don't get the real elapsed time.
I run SQL Developer against an Oracle 9.2 Database on Win2k. The client runs WinXP.
I hope this is not a double post but searching the forum for "parameters" gave too many hits to check. ;-)
Regards,
dhalekSqldev hangs when issuing an action that requires the previous action to be completed first.
Sqldev could open a new connection for this, or at least display a message telling the action isn't possible until the previous one completes, instead of just hanging. Vote for the requests for this on the SQL Developer Exchange if you want this getting addressed sooner.
Thanks,

Automating Essbase version 11.1.1.3 Client Installs Question?
Sorry if this is not the place to post this question, but does anyone know if there is any other way to install Essbase client components individually for Essbase add-in and Essbase administration services (EAS) without using the Oracle install tool? I have a client that needs to automate the installation for 600 users and because they have no standard image the program they use needs to push the software to the desktops prior to starting the install.
Using the installation tool required that approximately 4 GB of software be pushed to the client workstations prior to installing the software and they would like a smaller foot print. I know that SmartView has a thin installation program, but does anyone know of another option other than using the install tool provided by Oracle for the Essbase add-in and EAS?Hi,
Have a read of this post for details on another option for installing the excel addin :- EssBase excel add-in automated install
For EAS you can always use the web client so you wouldn't need to install anything on the client machine.
Cheers
John
