A 1084: compatible with newer Apple devices? I just bought one used and

I just bought one of the AirPost Express devices (used) to extend my existing network, but the AirPort utility won't find it. It is working, but I can't get it to integrate. I am presently using an iMac running Yosemite.

Unfortunately, you bought the wrong product.
AirPort Utility in newer operating systems has not supported the older AirPorts for a few years....and even if it did.....the older A1084 AirPort does not have a setting to "extend a wireless network".
Best to check and see if you can return the A1084 for a refund. You need either an A1264 or A1392 version of the Express. Please note that these versions will only extend the signal from an existing Apple router. They will not work with a 3rd party product.

You can charge the iPad with the iPhone's power adapter, but charging will take longer than when using the power adapter that shipped with the iPad. You can also charge the iPhone with the iPad's power adaptor.

Will older Airport Express Base Station A-1084 work with new AirPort Extreme? I want to use it as an access point for my ps3 for watching movies and just connectin to Internet.

I am lookin to plug in an older model a-1084 next to my playstation for a dedicated access point to avoid dropping so many connections since I am at the furthest point of my wifi coverage. Will it work or not? It would be connecting through a AirPort Extreme bought in 2011 -2012.

This will work if you plan to connect the AirPort Express using a wired Ethernet connection back to the AirPort Extreme.
But, it won't work if you plan to connect the Express using wireless only. That's because your older version of the Expess does not have a setting to "extend a wireless network", so it's not possible to "extend" the wireless signal using wireless only.
If you added a "new" AirPort Express, that version does have the capability to "extend a wireless network" from the AirPort Extreme using wireless only.
Keep in mind that to "extend" using wireless, the Express will need to be located where it can receive a strong signal from the AirPort Extreme, since the Express can only "extend" the quality of signal that it receives. In other words, the Express can make the signal go further, but it cannot make the signal go faster.

Plae the iPod in Recovery mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes.

I would recommend the steps in the article below. See the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.

I don't think it's possible if you are stuck in recovery mode but I may be wrong...
Since your device qualifies for iOS 8(.1), that is the version that will be downloaded/restored to the iPad.
I do know that you can restore your iPad (from backup & as new) and keep the same iOS version if you restore using the iPad itself under Settings/Reset/Erase All Content and Settings but since you can't access this because your stuck in recovery mode, the point is moot.
Have you tried downloading the update in the middle of the night (2 am or so) where dropouts are much less likely to occur?
It's always possible to take your device in to an Apple Store (make a Genius Bar reservation first) and do the iOS update there in the Apple Store.. I'm sure they will gladly help you out with it and not charge you a thing. The trouble with that would be if you don't have an Apple Store nearby.

I have 2 Apple ids and two corresponding iCloud accounts. My five Apple devices are linked to one or the other. As one consequence a small number of my contacts are associated with one iCloud account, the majority with the other. How can I merge?

For reasons not entirely clear to me I have ended up with two Apple ids, two iCloud accounts and my Apple devices being associated with one or the other iCloud account/Apple id. One of the complications is that my contacts are partially owned by one iCloud account, partially by the other.
Is there any way to
- merge the contacts (I have tried exporting from one and importing into the other but one set will overwrite the other)?
- migrate all devices to one single iCloud account without being locked out for 3 months?
- merge Apple ids or just delete one of them without locking out devices?

You can merge the contacts from one account with your other one without overwriting them. Sign into the first account, download them as vCard (iCloud: Export contact information as a vCard), email them to a device signed into the account you want to merge them with, tap the vCard and choose Add..., then Create New Contacts.
You can also migrate a copy of the data in one account and merge it with the other by signing into the account you are leaving, then signing out (or deleting the account if not running iOS 8), then choosing Keep on My iDevice when prompted. Then sign into the other account and choose Merge when prompted. This won't move Notes however. If you are syncing notes that you want to migrate from the other account, you can temporarily add the account to your Mac as a secondary account by going to System Preferences>Internet Accounts (or Mail,Contacts,Calendars)>Add Account>iCloud and signing in with the other account ID. Then enable notes syncing in the secondary account. You will then be able to open the notes app and drag and drop notes from one account to the other. When you're done, delete the secondary account from your Mac.
You can't merge IDs as Apple does not allow it. Also, you won't be locked out of anything for 3 months. The "90-day switch" rule only applies to changing your iTunes store account, not your iCloud account. Just leave your iTunes store account as-is. The ID you use for the iTunes store does not have to be the same as the ID you use for iCloud.

I tried to change the e-mail associated with my apple account because my school was closing and I knew I would no longer have accss to that e-mail account, however now all 3 of my devices ( 2 ipads & 1 iphone are screwed up as far as the e-mail accounts associated with each device and the passwords. You can continue to share an Apple ID for purchases.
Sign her in to her new account here:

Acrobat XI Pro is available for Mac and is an excellent tool for making PDFs. We can't say whether it will work with the scanner. It depends what drivers Epson provide.

That's not what Acrobat is for. It is for making PDFs. To make handwritten documents into Word documents, you'd just scan as graphics, and insert each graphic on a new page of the Word document. They will remain pictures of text, not something you can edit or copy/paste.

If the main router on your network is also an Apple product, it might be possible to connect the Time Capsule using wireless only. Please post back to provide the model number of the product that you have in order to check for compatibility.
If your main router is not an Apple product, the Time Capsule will need to be connected back to your main router using a wired Ethernet connection in order to function as a wireless access point on your network.
While an Ethernet cable connection is ideal, a pair of Ethernet powerline adapters might be able to send an "Ethernet" signal over the existing AC powerlines in your home. There are more details to go over with these types of adapters if you want to consider them, because they tend to be "iffy", and not predictable in all situations.

All apps that are compatible with previous iPhone models are compatible with the iPhone 4. This isn't the fragmented Android app market or the app market for any other device.
An app that is compatible with iOS 3.x is compatible with iOS 4.x. If a GPS voice navigation app hasn't been updated with iOS4 to be able to run in the background, the app won't run in the background with iOS4, but it will run as it runs on iOS 3.x.
