  • Firefox interface lags badly (switching tabs, opening menus) , even in safe mode.

Switching between tabs, playing GIFs, playing YouTube videos, typing text and opening the Firefox menu are sometimes laggy.
For example, sometimes when I click on a tab to view it, there will be a delay of a second before its contents are shown.
I tried Google Chrome and it doesn't have this lag. My computer is pretty powerful.
I tried safe mode, but the problem was present there, too.
I tried clearing the cache, but no luck.
I'm not sure what else to say, so if you would like more information, please just ask! Thank you.

    Hi amacfie,
Have you looked at our [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-slow-or-takes-too-long-start performance troubleshooting section]? There is a lot of good information in there that should help.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Demo programs of new and classic BADIs - transactions SE18 and SE19

Does SAP supply any demo examples of the new BADI switch framework and/or classic BADIs.
I've been trying to learn how to use SE18 and SE19 from examples on the web and articles in Thomas Weiss blogs. But, I'm still confused.
    Thanks
    Ed Baker

    Thank you for replying.
I did look at that example during my investigations. In fact, I found another page with screen shots for the example at http://www.sapmaterial.com/badi.html
Unfortunately, I'm on ECC 6.0 and the screen shots don't quite line up.
What I'm actually referring to is spots like this in SAP supplied code. Here's a typical example in SAPMV45A during transaction VA01 (sales order create).
How do I get SAP to branch off to user code when it reaches the "ENHANCEMENT-POINT" line.

  • SG 300-28 28-Port Gigabit Managed Switch -Lan connectivity issues

    Hello,
Our office lan running on 2 * SG 300-28 28-Port Gigabit Managed Switch.
    PID VID:SRW2024-K9 V01
    Firmware Version (Active Image):1.0.0.27
The users are seeing there connection to fileservers(mapped network drives) slowing down over the period.
We have to re-boot the offending switch to get the normal traffic back.
I have raised a ticket with cisco small business people and they said to upgrade the firmware to latest version.
But I am wondering why I need to upgrade this switch as the other switch which also brought at the same time with the same spec have no such issues.
Even if I decided to upgrade the firmware, they have recommended that I need to reset the switch to factory settings and try to put the previous configuration manually which is a worry for me.
I have logged on to the web console and I have found out, I can use TFTP or HTTP to backup the config, how do I use those services and what parameters i need to pass those to work, does using that functionality can rollback the switch to previous running configuration?
PS: Both the switch have connected together using a FC trunk with link aggregation eanbled. So how do I get all those settings back if I upgrade/rollback?
I just have to come up with some solution as it is affecting the business, so any help would be much appreciated.
Please see the attachment and let me know if any other info needed?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards
    Suji

    Hi,
Please see the difference between the connected switches configuration.
Maybe the vlan 10 and 30 has been created wrongly.
Please see the config for both the switches and give me some advice/suggestions.
    I really appreciate that.

  • N91 hold switch

I think that the hold switch on my N91 is getting a bit worn out. Would one of the care centres be likely to repair this on site, or would I be left without a phone?
Also, the car centre in Coventry is listed as Carphone Warehouse, rather than Nokia itself. Is that correct?

I have a N95 which I first got from phones4u on Vodafone. When I went wrong (major issue) I was sent to the Carphone Warehouse at Coventry (on the A45 Tile Hill lane not the ones in town). After it had been away 3 times (not the Carphone Warehouses fault) the got me an unbranded replacement. Since then I have had a couple of issue with my volume up and down switch, the 1st time the engineer fixed it on site, the next time it went back to Nokia but this is a known bad switch design. They also fixed a rubbishy voice speaker. As you can see I have had a lot of issue with my N95 but all is ok now. I can not see any issues with using the this branch of the carphone warehouse BUT getting through on the phone is another issue. Sometimes the phone just rings and rings so I find it better to go in.
    Hope this helps

  • Trunking issue with autonomous AP

I was at a customers that wanted a new ssid configured on his 20 1252 AP's and to stand up a new one with the olds and new SSID on it. Added the vlans, trunked them down and configured the interfaces and SSID's on the existing AP's no biggie. The new AP(not really new been kicking around in a lab) is giving me some weird issues. I deleted the exisiting config from it and took one of the running configs fromm the others that are working, modified the name and ip and pasted it in. This should have worked just fine. However the trunk port on the 4507 will not come up. The radio's are up and so is the BVI, however I cannot ping to it since the trunk is down. I started looking at the config and the thing I notice is that the AP's are in vlan 2, and the native vlan is set for vlan 2 on all the working trunk ports on the switch. However the AP's do not have vlan 2 on them, and their native vlan is 1. This should not work! I always thought the native had to match on both sides?? In any case I am probably missing something stupid, I have been up since 4am it was a 4 hour drive to get here. Oh and I have to go back and make firewall changes at midnight. Here is the relavent configs please let me know if its something stupid I usually do a lot of controller based installs havnet done a autonomous one in years. Thanks!
Here is a port on the switch

    Hello Mike,
actually, native VLAN doesn't have to match on two sides of a trunk, in fact it's quite common with autonomous APs. Your BVI1 is usually tied to a native VLAN 1, but switch port native VLAN is usually configured for whatever VLAN you want AP's management IP to belong to, in your case VLAN 2.
When you connect two catalyst switches together with a trunk that has different native VLAN configured on two sides, you will keep getting logging messages warning you about it. It's not recommended, but some scenarios require such setup.
Something else is wrong, maybe a physical issue. When you say the trunk is down, do you mean the interface is down ? Can you paste config of bad switch port and bad AP?

    Roman

  • Design Question - Command Line Argument Processor

    Folks,
I'm a java and OO newbie... I've been going through Sun's java tutorials
I've "enhanced" Sun's RegexTestHarness.java (using Aaron Renn's gnu.getopt package) to expose the various Pattern.FLAGS on the command line.
Whilst it does work the arguement processing code is awkward so I want to rewrite it... but I'm pretty new to OO, so before I spend days hacking away at a badly designed ArgsProcessor package I thought I'd run my deign ideas past the guru's... and atleast see if my ideas are impossible, or just plain bad.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

    Paul,
What are you trying to do, and why?Sorry I should have made myself a lot clearer...
What I'm really trying to do is learn Java, and good OO design... so I'm going through the Sun tutorials, and I see that the standard Pattern class has a few handy switches, so I wanted to expose them to the command line... which I did using the handy gnu.getopts library...
Are you trying to write a general purpose
command-line processing library?Yes, I'm trying to write a general purpose command-line processing library? one that's "cleaner" to use than the gnu.getopts.
I've been hacking away for a few hours and haven't gotten very far... what I have discovered is that gnu.getopts class is in fact very clever (surprise surprise)... and my idea to "simplify" it's usage leads to loss of flexibility. So, I'm starting to think I'm completely barking up the wrong tree... and that I was somewhat vanglorious thinking that I (a newbie) could improve upon it.
Are you trying to write a command-line app to do
pattern matching?Yep, That too... That's where I started... with an example from Sun's tutorials... where it's used to parse a long series of patterns and strings, exploring java's regex capabilities.
I think I'll just give up on "improving" on gnu.getopts... my options processing code is ugly, and so be it.
    Thanx for your interest anyway.
    Keith.

  • JDBC connection to Oracle 10g RAC periodically times out

I've been banging my head against the wall for months now and can't figure out why this is and what's causing it.
We have 6x CF8 servers in our environment. 3 of which work perfectly and the other 3 have the following problem. All 6 machines were installed at the same time and followed the exact same installation plan.
When I configure Oracle RAC data source, some of the machines time-out connecting to Oracle from time-to-time.
    Config:
Solaris 9 on both CF and Oracle
CF8 Enterprise with the latest updater.
Apache 2 (not that it's relevant)
6 machines, load-balanced (not clustered), identical install and configuration.
    data source config:
    JDBC URL: jdbc:macromedia:oracle://10.0.0.3:1521;serviceName=dbname.ourdomain.com;AlternateServers= (10.0.0.4:1521);LoadBalancing=true
    DRIVER CLASS: macromedia.jdbc.MacromediaDriver
    The problem:
Every few minutes, CF starts hanging requests that deal with a specific RAC only data source. After about 30 seconds, all requests bail and generate this error in cfserver.log:
A non-SQL error occurred while requesting a connection from dbsource.
Timed out trying to establish connection
This happens with any RAC data source on the "bad" servers while the "good" servers don't have this problem. The "bad" server doesn't have any problems with direct (non-rac) Oracle data source.
    Already tried:
Moving server connections around on a switch (rulling out bad switch port)
Copying driver from the healthy server (but it's the same installer anyway)
Changed from RAC to normal Oracle type data source - works perfectly. So at the moment I have 3 servers connecting to a specific oracle instance and the other 3 connecting to RAC.
Tried googling and searching forums and even Oracle metalink - nothing I could see relevant to this.
It's a shame that after spending a ton of money on CF8 upgrades and Oracle RAC, we can't really utilize fail-over on the database connection.
    Any takers?
    Thanks,
    Henry

I have the following in my CLASSPATH:

  • Colored lines in images from Photoshop CS2

One of our users is having a problem with colored, horizontal, 1 pixel lines intermittently appearing in photos worked on in Photoshop CS2 (as far as I know he is in Tiger - unable to check presently as I am at home and he is in his home and everybody is off on holidays...). I will ask him about OS etc, but will probably not get an answer immediately.
Does somebody maybe remember what causes this (if the description is enough)? Reminds me of the white lines in images sometimes talked about. But these are colored, horizontal. I did a forum search and a kb search but found nothing.

Also try adding - bad Ram corruption - to your search as these are also symptoms of bad ram
Typical symptoms of bad Ram in Photoshop include rows lines patches of bad pixels on screen that also print (the actual file is being corrupted). If the bad pixel areas are on the monitor, but do not print (the actual file is not corrupted), video card or video-card drivers are prime suspects.
A bad cable, bad card, bad switch, bad/misconfigured router, bad repeater, bad termination, bad wiring, bad hard drive, bad controller, bad connections, bad logic board, bad CPU just about anything between your computer and other computers can also cause these symptoms in Photoshop, said Adobe computer engineer Chris Cox.

  • Batch/Powershell file wont run via Task Scheduler

    Hello,
I'm having trouble getting my Powershell file to run from Task Schedule during logoff. In short, I'm trying to upload my NTUSER.DAT (roaming profile) to my profiles folder on the file server. Dynamic VLAN switching does not support roaming profiles thus
I have to use a script to solve this issue.
My powershell script is as follows:
    start-sleep -s 15
Set-Content -Path "C:\Temp\log.txt" -Value "Hello World"
    $FileServer = 10.10.5.5
    $FQDN = "$Env:UserDomain"
    $User = Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_NetworkLoginProfile | Sort-Object -Property LastLogon -Descending | Select-Object -Property * -First 1 | Where-Object {$_.LastLogon -match "(\d{14})"} | Foreach-Object { New-Object PSObject -Property @{ Name=$_.Name.TrimStart("$FQDN\") }} | Select -ExpandProperty Name
    copy-item -path C:\Users\$User\NTUSER.DAT -destination \\$FileServer\Profiles$\$user.V2\ -force
    copy-item -path C:\Users\$User\NTUSER.DAT -destination \\$FileServer\Profiles$\$user.V3\ -force
I have a task schedule to run as Domain Admin when event ID 4647 occurs (logoff). It is set to run with the Highest Privileges checked, also I have enabled to run weather the user is logged in or no. The Domain Admin account also has access to ever file,
both at source and destination. Set-ExecutionPolicy is set to unrestricted. The way I call the powershell script in Task Scheduler is:
    Action: Start a program
    Program/Script: C:\temp\launch.bat
    The launch.bat contains the following:
Powershell.exe -executionpolicy unrestricted -File "CALL C:\temp\powershell.ps1"
The task is triggered each time when the user logs off, I have confirmed this in the logs. But the NTUSER.DAT file fails to copy over to the network, in fact the log.txt file isn't even generated. I have confirmed my code to work, it's just the task scheduler
part calling the code where I think it fails.
Can you guys point me in the right direction here? I know I'm close, but not sure what I'm missing.

    Jrv,
Yes in my testing the task schedule is unreliable, I don't have any info on how long the profile is locked, thus I can't copy the profile to the server when the OS still has it locked.
What do you propose I change my vlan configuration to?
    Thanks.
What you are trying to do cannot be done.  That is why it is not being done.  If you set up roaming profiles and redirected folders this would happen automatically.  It would also happen very quickly.  THat is because Windows posts cahnges
to teh roamed image as they happen.  Only changes are copied. Items in teh registry which are only valid during logon (Dynamic Entries) are nver copied so updates that are not needed are not posted.  It is these updates thaat can keep the registry
locked for a very long time.
If you scan your network you will likely find hives thaat are loaded with no one logged in.  WIndows 7 and later have a utility that forces and unload after a few minutes.  It posts the reson for the forced unload to the event log.
As for the VLAN it is likely not configured correctly.  THe profile must be on a server that is available on the same net ID as the PC.  YOu may also have to allow the switch to suspend if you are using per-user conenctions.  Contact the VLAN
vendor and tell them about issues with Roamed profiles.  THey will walk you through the setup.  THe most common issue is thaat the switch specifies 1Gb and the server is set to 100Mb and the switch is not set to match the speed.  THisis a simplpe
configuration error done by a tech who does not have much experience with VLANs.  THey tend to think that setting everything to 1Gb or some other maximum will work but it won't.  It can also be caused by a files server with a 1Gb card that is a pront
spooler spooling to a 100 or 10Mb older printer. This disrupts the card and the VLAN cannot attach to it until the spooler is dona nd the card can switch.  It can also be caused by a bad card or a bad switch.
Then VLAN vendors techs are usually very good at troubleshooting this kind of issue.  Remote VLAN logging and diagnostics can also pick out the issue.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Live video feed using Flex/Flash

    Hi,
I have a question if someone doesn't mind giving me a "yes"
    or "no" answer, please.
My developers have created a program for me that lets me
broadcast my LIVE web cam feed right on my web site in real time so
I can provide customer support and allow me to engage with web site
visitors. We are using Flash, Flex, and Adobe AIR.
The broadcast window size is 320 x 240 pixels. The problem is
the frame rate. I am only able to broadcast between 5 - 9 frames
per second whereas other people have been able to broadcast at
    around 14 FPS.
Question: is it possible to use these applications
(Flash/Flex/Adobe AIR) to stream live video at 320 X 240 at frame
rates at least 24 or higher?
Thanks in advance for an answer. I don't expect a solution.
Just a yes or no from some experience(d) developer(s).
    All the best.
    Rodney

    Lucas,
Here's what I do for multi-camera live shoots:
    1. Connect all cameras to a switcher/DVE (looped through preview monitors) - I use a Panasonic WJ-MX50 or Sony DFS-300 Since you have five cameras, you'll obviously need a switcher with more inputs, or gang two of the above together. You'll need a switcher capable of the signal output your cameras offer, ie: composite, Y/C, component, triax .. whatever.
2a. Output of switcher goes to DVCam VTR.
2b. Audio is fed through a mixer and output to the VTR.
    3. Firewire out from the VTR to the Mac/FCP.
    4. In FCP, choose "Non-Controllable Device" and use Capture Now.
    5. Use one of the analog outputs from the VTR to feed the projector(s) and the another analog output to a program monitor for the TD.
I always run safety tapes in each camera while the VTR is recording a switched master tape in case there's a problem with the capture in FCP (it can happen).
I also equip each cam-op with a 8" or 9" monitor, typically using the camera's composite output. And everyone is able to communicate using a Clear-Com system.
In 5 years, doing several shows per year, the capture in FCP has only failed three times and all of those times were when I was using a laptop. Whenever I've used my old G4 tower, capturing to one of the internal drives, its worked flawlessly each time. Fortunately, having a Master DVCam tape saved the day. The camera safety tapes are used just in case of a bad switch by the TD (usually me).
    -DH
PS I should add that if you're feeding multiple projectors, you'll need a simple DA.

  • Apple Says Lines are NORMAL?!?!?!

Well, my repair status got changed to "Hold - need more info", so I called to see what info they needed. They said they couldn't reproduce the lines and that everything appears normal! I had placed a folder right in the center of the desktop called "These Images Have Horizontal Lines" and inside it was...you guessed it...images that show horizontal lines. I even put a text file right on the desktop and named it" Apple Care Open Me First" and it detailed exactly what I saw, where I saw it, and why I can't deal with it. If they didn't see any of that, then I don't expect them to see the lines either! haha (wait...that's not really funny)
The bottom line is, Apple engineers are claiming this is normal, which all of us that have used Apple products knows it isn't. I asked for my money back if they couldn't fix it and they are supposed to call me back in 24-48 hours to verify that it can't be fixed. This isn't looking good for us that have issues with the lines.
What's more ugly is Apple's future if they continue to use this display. I'll alone dump every stock I have as pros will not be as eager to purchase future Apple laptops.
POOR move Apple. I know I'm not the only long-time Apple user that is disappointed.

My serial starts with W85424 and has the problem.
I have pointed out in the other thread, that the problem gets worse when you
enter D50 color point mode. Which alot of graphic artists use for better color
reproduction. When switching to this mode though it adds a yellowish tint
to the screen which makes the lines that much more visible. Plus the orange/pink
discoloration around the top corners .
    definition of defect.
    de·fect P (dfkt, d-fkt)
    n.
The lack of something necessary or desirable for completion or perfection; a deficiency: a visual defect.
An imperfection that causes inadequacy or failure; a shortcoming
this is very fitting to our situation at hand.
the real problem is that this is what was chosen as a replacement to the
previous displays. Apple doesnt have a bad batch... they made a bad switch!
there is no way they are going to recall all the laptops... so i strongly encourage
everyone to return your powerbooks, and get a tower. Or get a previous gen
    powerbook.
on a side note regarding extended battery life... bull crap.
the start up procedure alone takes almost 10 mins of the battery life, or being in sleep mode just eats it up as well. Forget about it if you plan on
burning a dual layer DVD. ANd watching a movie is no better if not worse than
    the previous series.
The keyboard back lighting has also received 2 light sensors on opposit sides of the
laptop just under the top halves of the speakers. Problem here is one sensor could be
in the light and the rest of the keyboard in the dark. And you cant bypass the poweradapter
mode and turn the keyboard on. another powersaving feature??
The ram is now DDR2 which is somewhat nice... but the CAS latency is now 4.
which is bad if you now anything about latency for musicians especially. The only
up side to the ram is lower power consumption and cheaper cost.
The DVD now makes an annoying high speed ticking sound when a disc is inserted and
    being accessed.
Apple sent me a Fedex slip to send my powerbook in... after i told them there is no point
    in sending it in.
money back... and wait for new ones at the first of the new year... thats all we can do.
    overall a step backward apple.

  • Space bar stops working while texting

My ihpone 5 is only a few days old and it's my first iphone.
Twice today while I was texting, the space suddenly stopped working. The cursor would advance as if I had typed a period, and start a new sentence with a capital letter, but would only back space as far as where the space bar wouldn't work. I could not back up past that point and could only go forward if I started a new sentence. Has this happened to anyone else?

I agree with others, this doesn't sound like a ML problem.  It is either a H/W problem, or..., it is possible that something got into the keyboard.  For example, if you were eating around it, perhaps some type of crumb got under the key.  That would do it too.
    You can try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kh88cn_rtLo
This can be a pain if you haven't done it before.  But worth a try if you'd have to otherwise pay for a new keyboard (and if it is a crumb versus a bad switch/button).

  • Change in Video Resolution causes freeze

Whenever I plug in the video adapter with keynote already running, it freezes; I have to force quit and start over.
I teach a class of 420 students, just switched to Keynote from Powerpoint in week 4...I feel silly adding this info here, but I'm adding it anyway -- to my students, it appears that I've made a bad switch going from Powerpoint to Keynote...
    Powerbook 12"   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Welcome to the discussion boards.
It is just Keynote freezing, and not the entire machine? Does it do this if the adapter is plugged in before KN is opened? (This would suggest the obvious workaround, but it doesn't really solve the problem.)
The standard troubleshooting questions I'd ask are: Have you updated Keynote to the latest version? If so, have you tried deleting its preferences? Have you tried reinstalling it?
to my students, it appears that I've made a bad switch going from Powerpoint to Keynote
If your students can't see the quality difference between the two, I truly pity them. (Throw in some flashy transitions and animations to wow them.)
