A black checkmark next to a song

How do you uncheck many boxes at a time so you don't have to uncheck them one at a time. I have a lot of Audiobooks that I need to uncheck but it would take hours to uncheck them all so that they would not be put in my ipod. Any HELP would be appreciated.

Click on the first track of your Audiobook, hold down the shift key then click on the last track to highlight the selection. Right click anywhere in the selection and choose "Uncheck Selection". Alternatively if it's every audiobook in your library you want to uncheck go to the Audiobook section of your library, hold down the Command key (⌘) and click on the check box beside any track in the list and the check marks will be toggled on or off: iTunes for Mac - Keyboard Shortcuts

I customarily keep every song with black checkmark next to it. after updating iTunes to 6.0.2, suddenly every single song is un checked.
sure i could fix this one by one ... but YIKES! there's gotta be a better way.

You can check/uncheck all of them by command-clicking on one of the checkboxes.

If you don't see that item, checkmark "Internet Radio" in the General preferences in iTunes.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

I get an error message when I sync my iPhone 5 with iTunes on my Windows 7 Samsung laptop. I recently backed up all of my data using Samsung Recovery Solution 5 to an external hard drive so that I could restore my laptop. I put all of my data back on the restored laptop and reinstalled iTunes. After the error message that says that certain items could not be found and the "sync" is finished I go back to my music in iTunes and there are exclamation marks next to many songs. I follow some instructions regarding the Edit - Preferences - Advanced settings and the exclamation marks go away until I try to sync my phone again. Then I get the same error message and the exclamation marks return. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and the same thing happens again. I am about to schedule an appointment with the Genius Bar but would like to avoid that if possible. Thank you in advance for any help.

The song can be deleted by swiping the song, then tapping 'Delete.'

I started a download of a video in the app "Free gift for 12 days". I cancelled the download before it was completed. It is now affecting the music in my phone library, as the next or previous song is being played instead of the selected song. Any suggested solutions?

Those songs aren't on your iPhone, they are in iCloud.
If you don't want to see what's stored in iCloud, Settings > Music > Show All Music > Off (white)

You get exclamation marks or dead tracks because iTunes can’t find the file. This can happen for a number of reasons:
The song file or a folder in its path was renamed
The song file or the folder it is in has been moved
The song file has been deleted
The device containing the song files e.g. external drive is not accessible or the drive letter has changed.
If you use an external drive, a change in drive letter is a common cause and you need to change it back.
AS a way of working out what has happened, right click on a track and select the summary tab (you will have to go past an error message). The summary tab will tell you where iTunes thinks the track is located. How does that compare with where the track actually is?
The xml library file is not used by iTunes, it is created to allow other programs to access the library. You can recreate the iTl file from the xml file, but there is no point if the location of the files is wrong.
There is a simple way of getting you music back in iTunes, but it loses all playlists counts and rating. To do this drag iTunes library.itl and iTunes Library.xml to your desktop. Then open iTunes and an empty library is created. Add you iTunes Media folder to it.
If you can't work out what went wrong and how to fix it, you may have to do this.

Right click on one and in the edit menu, click on select all. Now right click on one and then select uncheck all.
