A CR remote ODBC connection question for anyone brave enough to jump in.

Greetings.
Been working with CR 2008 for about a month now, having great success. Two days ago it all went south as I hit a brick wall. Yep, I'm a relative newbie to CR, but I've been doing IT for many years. This has really got me stumped. Any takers?
My testbed:
I have a segregated network with two PCu2019s  (A and B). PC (A) is running XP-Pro (32-bit) at IP 192.168.1.104, while PC (B) is running Win 7-pro 64-bit at IP 192.168.1.100.
I installed CR 2008, Oracle 10g Express and MySQL Server 5.5 on both, so they are both configured identically from a database/server perspective.   Both use Norton Internet Security 2011.
Oracle EX came with a sample HR database. I added a normalized Innodb compliant northwind database to the SQL Server and verified both installations.
Both CR programs on PC(A) and on PC(B) can connect without issue to their respective local databases.  The HR database has been successfully (locally) accessed by CR. The Oracle northwind database has also been successfully accessed (locally) by CR.
The problem:
When running CR on PC(A), I cannot find a way to successfully connect it (i.e., CR) via ODBC to the other databases on PC(B) - or visa versa.
I have eliminated the obvious possibilities like firewalls or improper port addressing. Strangely, I can create DSNs on PC(A) that tells me it successfully connects to the target DB on PC(B), but for whatever reason I cannot get CR on the same machine to successfully use the same DSN that just successfully connected without CR. ARRRggggggg!
For example:
Step 1:
I set up a System DSN as follows on PC(A) in my attempt to connect to the target HR database on PC(B):
System DSN: HR-Fastsob
Driver: CR Oracle Wire Protocol ODBC Driver 5.3
Standard connection, Host: 192.168.1.100
Port: 1521
Service name: XE
Step 2:
I click on the Test Connect in the u2018ODBC Oracle Wire Protocol Driver Setupu2019 window.
It responds with a u2018Logon to Oracle Wire Protocolu2019 window, in which I am prompted to enter the User Name and password. On the Oracle Express setup, I configured the database instance with root access as User: u2018SYSTEMu2019 and Password: u2018Passwordu2019, so I figured these should be the correct credentials.
I click the u2018Test Connectionu2019 connection button and breathe a sigh of relief as it tells me Iu2019ve u2018successfully connectedu2019.
Step 3:
3.1 - I launch CR
3.2 u2013 I create a new blank form
3.3 u2013 I create a new connection
3.4 - I click on ODBC (RDO)
3.5 - I select the HR-Fastsob DSN from the list of DSNs.
3.6 - Click next
3.7 - An ODBC (RDO) connection window appears.  Iu2019m prompted to enter the user ID and password (SYSTEM and Password respectively), then hit the u2018Finishu2019 button.
3.8 - A u201CLogon Failedu201D pop-up appears. I hit the u2018OKu2019 button.
3.9 - Another popup appears saying u201CDatabase Connector Error: u201808s01:[Crystal Reports][ODBC Oracle Wire Protocol driver]Connection refused. Verify Host Name and Port Number. [Database Vendor Code -1]u201D. I sigh, then hit the u2018OKu2019 button.
3.10 u2013 Yet another window appears saying u201CLogon filed. Details: 08001:[Crystal Reports][ODBC Oracle Wire Protocol driver][Oracle]ORA-12203: unable to connect to destination [Database Vendor Code -1]. I hit the u2018OKu2019 button.
3.11 - An ODBC (RDO) connection window appears with my earlier entries (from step 3.7). No matter what I enter, the results are the same.
Two days later, Iu2019m still scratching my head.
I'm really hoping there's a guru in here that can feel my pain and who can dumb down the solution to this perplexing problem I'm facing.
Iu2019m really at a loss. Obviously, I donu2019t fully understand ODBC connectivity well enough.
The next beeru2019s on me if you get this one.
Thanks to anyone willing to help me out

Hi Don....
Thanks for jumping in -- much appreciated.
Your suggestion seemed plausible, as I had alternated between the system32 (64-bit) and the sysWOW (32-bit) odbc drivers. I thought maybe I had mixed it up...but alas, that didn't turn out to be the source of my problem. Your suggestion is still valid though, had I been using the 64-bit ODBC driber with a 32-bit CR app.
I decide to try another approach -- by eliminating CR from the equation altogether. I ran Microsoft excel against the same remote databases using the same DSN and voila.... all worked as I thought it should in the first place. My connection was extremely fast and rock solid.
This would ( I believe) suggest that the issue is with my version of CR i.e., Developer edition (v12.3.0.601) running on Win 7.
I tried running CR in compatibility mode XP-Pro SP2, but got the same errors. So now I have to decider whether or not to upgrade to CR 2010 in the hopes it will work on Win 7 Pro 64-bit.
Thanks again for stepping up.
warm regards
Bob

  • 'Genius' related question for anyone with over 1.2TB of music?

    Anyone out there with a iTunes library with over 1.2TB of music?
    Reason I ask, is that I've not been able to solve a problem in updating Genuis - I'm getting the error - 'Genius results can't be updated right now. There is not enough memory available ~ Please try again later.' or the 'unknown 4002 error'.  The steps I've taken to try and correct sometime back can be found in https://discussions.apple.com/message/12584815#12584815 and also shown here in sequence below.
    I keep thinking this will be fixed with the next version iTunes but so far with the latest, things still the same.  So looking to see if anyone with a similar size library is having similar problems and it just a limitation of the program or it's something specific on my end that I can fix.
    Appreciate...
    Up to this weekend I've had not issues with Genius. Worked beautifully and updated last Sunday as I have been doing every week since Apple added Genius. Yesterday I added a few albums and went to update and now getting the error of 'Genius results can't be updated right now. There is not enough memory available ~ Please try again later.' Now my library is well over >200,000 songs and only added 6 albums this time. Music sits on a external 2TB drive ~100GB free and my MacBook Pro has over 60GB open. Running latest Mac OSX and latest iTunes. Nothing new installed or changed since last Genius update.
    To the points raised in this thread.
    1. I've been updated weekly with a Library with over 200K songs till now with no problem. Majority is what I've ripped from my albums & CDs.
    2. Deleted the albums recently added since last successful update - same result.
    3. Connected directly to the network bypassing router as suggested here - same result.
    4. Reinstalled iTunes program - same result.
    5. Repaired permissions - same result.
    Problem remains. Welcome any additional thoughts.
    Question for anyone with a music library
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/12584815#12584815
    Ok, tried all the suggestions here yet the problem remains.
    In addition what I posted above -
    1) Dumped the cookies in user/library/cookies folder
    2) Deleted the apple cookies found under Safari Preferences "Show Cookies"
    3) Repaired disk permissions
    4) Deleted iTunes Library Genius.itdb file
    5) Reinstalled iTunes (with the new 10.1 version)
    6) Restarted computer
    7) Rebuilt iTunes Library folder http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1451
    8) Deleted all iTunes dead tracks
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=removedeadsuper
    9) Increased internet access speed
    10) Removed all open "[" and '}' brackets from songs, albums & artists
    10) Rebuilt my entire library from scratch!
    Is there anyone out there with over 200K songs that can update their Genius? One thing I noted is the genuis.itdb file is just over 2GB. I'm wondering if there is a maximum size on this based on the error I'm getting. Any thought or know info on this?
    Ok, think I may have found something here with this. I backed out all the music added prior to this problem occurring and ran the Genius update. All worked fine. I then started adding the music back little by little (running the update each time) until the problem returned. When the problem came back I ruled out the specific music added by backing that bit out, verified all was ok and added a different batch back in.
    Bottom-line it appears that when my library exceeds exactly 1.208TB the problem appears. Interestingly enough it does not appear to be related to the number of songs, the size of the genius.itdb file (in fact when it was working the file was at 2.25GB - larger than what I reported before). It specifically seems to be related to the size of the overall library - when I have it for example at 1.2079 all is ok, 1.2081 it fails with this error.
    I did try moving the library and related files to the external drive but same result. abavetta, I think your suggestion of this script may be a workaround for now - although from what I read, is this not the same that you can do anyway with iTunes by holding the alt/option key open start up? In fact I do have two libraries now - one with the 2TB drive which I use at home and another for 2x500GB disks I carry with me when i travel. I just reported the same back to Apple but doubt if any immediate solution will come for this. Too bad as one of the great things about having such a large library is the mixes you can generate via Genius. Anyway, such is life and will just live with this for now. I also just found this program called Tangerine! http://www.potionfactory.com/tangerine/ which creates playlists like Genius - although through a different technique I might also take a look at.

    Just to let all know that may be having a similar problem, what I found by accident to fix this problem.
    Reset all my Home Folder permissions using the resetpassword method from the startup utility in Lion.  Then turned off/on to reset Genius and cleaned out the cache folder for good measure.  Finally after more than a year without, have Genius up and running again.

  • Report Designer odbc connection string for data source using a parameter

    I am using stand alone report designer 3 for the present and have a question/problem regarding the odbc connection string for MySQL when setting up the data-source
    I need to be able to enter a parameter which is the database name i.e. BOE-201401 or say BOE-201312 etc  from a list of databases the user can choose from.
    at present the odbc connection string points to BOE-201402
    the connection string is at present  Dsn=Development Server for MYsql;description=MYSQL;server=ldndw01;database=BOE-201402;port=3306
    my parameter has the name BOE_DATABASE
    and in an expression it is  as such
    =Parameters!BOE_DATABASE.Value
    I want to point the datasource for the report to the parameter value before the user sees the report.

    Hi Leslie,
    Based on your description, we want to design a report with a dynamic DataSource connection string. There are the basic steps below for your reference:
    Create report with static database.
    Change data source to report parameter.
    Send new database connection string as a report parameter.
    More detail information, please refer to the following blog: Dynamic Database in SSRS 2008.

  • Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac Not Working

    I recently purchased Office 2011 for Mac.  I work at home on my Mac at work on Windows 7.  I also have a work laptop, running Windows 7, that comes home with me.  My goal is to RDC my Mac to the laptop running Windows 7 to reduce desktop clutter, and easily work between machines.
    I CAN NOT FIGURE OUT how to get Microsoft RDC:mac to connect to my pc.
    I know that the pc allows remote desktop connections because I often use RDC at work from PC to PC.
    SOME PLEASE HELP!  I have spent hours and hours trying to figure this out and I think it is the time capsule that is causing the problem.
    My research has found that I have to use port 3389 to get this done.  I am pretty computer savy but when it comes to networking I guess I have no clue.  I have tried just about everything a and can't figure it out.
    Thanks to anyone that can dedicate some time to configureing my time capsule to allow for RDC.

    I cannot quite put together your whole network..
    I work at home on my Mac at work on Windows 7.  I also have a work laptop, running Windows 7, that comes home with me.  My goal is to RDC my Mac to the laptop running Windows 7 to reduce desktop clutter, and easily work between machines.
    So this is in local lan.. the PC laptop running win7 and the Mac loaded with RDC software. If this is local lan then the issue is nothing to do with TC.
    That is only if you are trying to connect from work. to home through the router at work and TC at home. On local lan there is no blocking to ports. Are you using the local network IP of the PC Laptop?
    Explain a bit further as it needs a bit more clarification.

  • Remote ODBC Connection - Citadel

    Hi
    I have a citadel 4 database running on a PC (PC-A).  I wish to access the database from a different PC (PC-B) which has logos 4.5 installed but I am having difficulty getting the ODBC connection to work.  The situation is as follows:
    Using PC-A, I can access the database using ODBC but cannot access PC-A's database from PC-B using UNC nor mapped drives.
    If I copy the database from PC-A to PC-B and change the ODBC data source properties on PC-B to point to the local database then I can access it.
    I have no problems in browsing or creating files in the directory on PC-A that hosts the database.
    The error that is being thrown up on PC-B is as attached.  It would appear that the ODBC is fine as long as it's kept local and not over the network.
    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    "Does it happen just after you create the connection without no query execution?"
     Yes, but I think technically, Access does a query just to setup the table so that is when it crashes the server.
    The DSN is through a mapped network drive to the remote database path.  It was not a valid MAX attached database.  So It may have been this bastardized setup.  Although the mapped drive had permissions, the machine did not have permissions that it would need to go through "MAX" because the machine was not a member of the domain, so automatic user authentications would be rejected.
    I will try with a remote machine that is a domain member and would therefore pass all appropriate permissions using MAX to attach the data source.  I will also try to recreate the crash using the domain machine.
    I also had nicitdl5 hang tonight during a simple client hypertrend trace-back a few days of data.  I could see where the data stopped being sent by the missing trace endpoints on the trend.  After recovery on the server, I tried the exact same hypertrend trace-back and this time it was fine.  Citadel still needs some stability work!!!

  • What are the ODBC connect details for the HR sample database?

    I have installed Oracle Express on Ubuntu 8.10 and read the Getting Started tutorials. Everything worked fine.
    THE DSN
    I need to connect via ODBC, to start with to the HR sample database on my PC.
    The Getting Started tutorial says the userid and password are both hr, but what is the data source name (dsn) to be used with the SQLConnect?
    THE INIs
    The ini files below are the result of googling, not of any insight on my part.
    /etc/odbcinst.ini
    [OracleExpressdrv]
    Driver = /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/lib/libsqora.so.10.1
    Description = Oracle 10g express driver
    /etc/odbc.ini
    [hrdsn]
    Driver = OracleExpressdrv
    Application Attributes = T
    Attributes = W
    BatchAutocommitMode = IfAllSuccessful
    CloseCursor = F
    DisableDPM = F
    DisableMTS = T
    DSN = TestDSN
    EXECSchemaOpt =
    EXECSyntax = T
    Failover = T
    FailoverDelay = 10
    FailoverRetryCount = 10
    FetchBufferSize = 64000
    ForceWCHAR = F
    Lobs = T
    Longs = T
    MetadataIdDefault = F
    QueryTimeout = T
    ResultSets = T
    # ServerName is TNS_alias_from_tnsnames.ora
    ServerName = OraDB
    SQLGetData extensions = F
    Translation DLL =
    Translation Option = 0
    UserID = ken
    THE ENVIRONMENT
    Before running my odbc test program I issued
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/lib;export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    and checked via env command that the ldlibpath actually had been set correctly.
    After SQLConnect received the following error:
    Usage error: SQLConnect: dsn=hrdsn, user=hr, password=hr <<< output by my test program
    1: st=IM002, nerr=0, msg=
    [unixODBC][Driver Manager]Data source name not found, and no default driver specified
    The first part of the error message hints at there being something wrong with dsn=hrdsn. I don't understand the second part 'and no default driver specified'.
    I am totally stuck. Advice would be most appreciated.

    Oracle® Database Express Edition Installation Guide for Linux talks about Compiling the Oracle ODBC Driver Demos. It tells you to download and install the unixODBC DriverManager from unixODBC. On Ubuntu this is already preinstalled and/or available via the Synaptic Manager. It also instructs you to run a makefile demo_xe.mk to build an odbcdemo program. The makefile did not work for me (hundreds of compilation errors), but I looked at the odbcdemo.c code and could see that dsn=TESTDBDSN for user=hr and password=hr. In other words, by luck the demo program seems to be connecting to the HR sample database.
    I changed the /etc/odbc.ini file to:
    [TestDBDSN]
    Application Attributes = T
    Attributes = W
    BatchAutocommitMode = IfAllSuccessful
    CloseCursor = F
    DisableDPM = F
    DisableMTS = T
    Driver = OracleExpressdrv
    DSN = TestDBDSN
    and also in my test program which now produced the following error:
    Usage error: SQLConnect: dsn=TestDBDSN, user=hr, password=hr
    1: st=IM004, nerr=0, msg=
    [unixODBC][Driver Manager]Driver's SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_HENV failed
    which shows that the unixODBC driver manager has loaded the driver and that the driver immediately encountered problems.
    The sql calls issued before the SQLConnect("TestDBDSN", "hr" , "hr") were OK, i.e. these:
    rc0 = SQLAllocHandle ( SQL_HANDLE_ENV , SQL_NULL_HANDLE , &henv ) ;
    rc = SQLSetEnvAttr ( henv, SQL_ATTR_ODBC_VERSION , *)SQL_OV_ODBC3 , 0 ) ;
    rc = SQLAllocHandle ( SQL_HANDLE_DBC , henv , &hdbc ) ;
    SQLSetConnectAttr ( hdbc , SQL_LOGIN_TIMEOUT , (void*)5 , 0 ) ;
    However, the error appears after SQLConnect and yet the rc0 was reported as OK.
    The error message 'Driver's SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_HENV failed' is totally unhelpful to me as a user since I don't know the conditions that lead to failure. I really think this calls for some documentation. Such documentation should be complete, self-contained and correct and give ALL OPERATIONAL steps, i.e. I want to know exactly what I have to do. Ambiguous English often referring to undefined terms is not what Oracle beginners like myself want.
    I don't know if this is a bug. It is so fundamental that Oracle ODBC driver writers could/should not have got it wrong. The connect does not even start.
    I have googled for hours, but every lead has failed.
    I don't want to give up on this. What can I do?

  • Questions for anyone using this forum

    is this forum only for people who have problems with apple stuff to go and complain so that we feel better, because i've posted numerous questions on this and other forums, non have gotten replies. i really feel as though this is only a place where people can go to vent some frustration with things. i'm not even sure if there's a guy (or team,which there should be,) out there just looking at these questions and trying as best as they can. now i understand if its only a group of like ten gpeople there to help us because there has got to be at least a million people, if not more, out here sing mac products and experienceing problems. i just want to know if its really that hard to get a little responce about things. we have problems, we come here for answers because thats where apple tells us the answers are.
    now my latest question may not be able to be answered by an apple tech, but, where is the best place to hock an iPod for $$$. mine is dead and will not come back to life. i want to get another iPod but its not in my budget unless i can sell my current dead iPod to put a down payment on a new one. so if theres anyone out there with an answer, please respond, otherwise its like talking to a wall.

    No, this is definately not a place just to complain so you can feel better. These are user-to-user support forums. Nobody here works for Apple (other than an occasional moderator). We're just users like you who enjoy helping others.
    I haven't seen your other posts, but usually if a post goes a while without a response, it's because the post either doesn't provide enough information, or is just a rant and doesn't ask a specific question. Post a detailed description of your problem without ranting about it and you will be very likely to receive help.
    If your iPod is dead, you can either sell it on ebay or somewhere (people will buy non-functioning iPods), or take it to an Apple store and give it to them and receive 10% off a new iPod.

  • SQL 2000 ODBC CONNECTION STRING FOR SQL 2008

    i have vb 6 application. Database is SQL server 2000.
    my connection string is (using odbc driver),
            .ConnectionString = "Driver={SQL Server};SERVER=" & mServer & ";DATABASE=mydb;UID=" & mLogin.Username & ";pwd=" & mLogin.Password & ";"
    Now i have tried this application with SQL server express 2008 R2
    Can i still keep the old connection string? will there be any problem in future?
    (if i have to change then have to change at so many places.....)
    I can run application without any problem for now (not changed connection string to new one)
    otherwise i have to use ODBC or OLEDB which are,
            .ConnectionString = "Driver={SQL Server Native Client 10.0};SERVER=" & mServer & ";DATABASE=mydb;UID=" & mLogin.Username & ";pwd=" & mLogin.Password & ";"
    or
            .ConnectionString = "Provider=SQLNCLI10;SERVER=" & mServer & ";DATABASE=mydb;UID=" & mLogin.Username & ";pwd=" & mLogin.Password & ";"
    if i have to change to new connection string Which one is better to use odbc or oledb.

    personally I favor ODBC as it is easy to use sometime. Additionally you can check the link below:

  • I have a question for anyone that can help me with ACER mini laptop!!

    I am thinking of buying this laptop, i really just need it for internet, storing photos, and simple tasks...I dont really need a whole lot of bells and whistles.  I would like to be able to watch movies on it when i'm traveling, and i'm assuming i would have to buy a attachable DVD drive for it correct?  If anyone has this computer, or knows anything about it I would appreciate a response before I decide to buy it
    Thank you in advance.

    I have a 9" Aspire One and love it, although I wish I'd known about the 10" one coming out, it's less than what I paid for my 9" in December!  (I also have a fullsized laptop for gaming and such, but many times I just bring the tiny AAO along - superportable and great battery life)
    As previously mentioned, you can't legally save DVDs to the hard drive of a computer to watch on a plane (or whatever) even if you own the DVD.  No real technical barriers, but it is not legal.
    I do routinely take TV recordings from my MythTV (Computer-based PVR, kind of like TiVo on steroids) system and recompress them with Handbrake (http://handbrake.fr/) for my Aspire One.  Recompressing broadcast TV recordings is legal.
    FYI - The netbooks Best Buy sells are usually the same price as from other sources but frequently include a smaller 3-cell battery instead of a 6-cell battery, a fact which is not mentioned on Best Buy's online ordering systems, or at least wasn't a few weeks ago.
    *disclaimer* I am not now, nor have I ever been, an employee of Best Buy, Geek Squad, nor of any of their affiliate, parent, or subsidiary companies.

  • Question for anyone using WebEdit

    We recently have turned on this feature and are seeing sporadic problems where the application opens however the document fails to display. In its place we are presented with a garbled version of our portal login screen - as though there were a gateway/security type of issue.
    A PTSPY recently revealed that the user didn't have appropriate permission to a 202 object. After guessing which class that would be it seems most likely that this is either our Collab Remote Server or our Collab Crawler. Both of these are set with the everyone group to have READ access.
    If you use Collab's WebEdit could you check your security on both of these objects and see if you have it raised to SELECT for your everyone group. I can't fathom that it would be needed to be set any higher than that. Or if you have any other guidance I'd be thrilled to hear it!

    Geoffgarcia,
    In our installation the Collaboration Remote Server and Collab Crawler the Everyone group has select permissions on them. However I suspect the issue isn't with either of these objects, but the Checked In Property. It is object 202. Check to see if it is set to select. Hope it helps!

  • Question for anyone who has the American Ball game

    I've been spending a lot of time saving up my tickets in American Ball so I can unlock some more items.
    I've finally reached 5,000 tickets and I'm wondering if the table that costs 5,000 tickets is worth it.
    Is there any difference between the different skee-ball tables aside  from the appearance?  For example, does the skee-ball table that costs  5,000 tickets have a higher ticket pay-out than the one that only costs  1,000 tickets?  Or is it basically just a different skin with all the same features?

    Hi Julio,
    I sat exam 98-364: Database Fundamentals just to see what the MTA exams were like and found the question difficulty and content very similar to what was outlined in the study guide available from Certiport. I found
    the exam rather easy however I've had quite a lot of experience with databases and also have a number of other Microsoft database certifications.
    You need to keep in mind that the MTA exams are designed for people who are just starting an IT career path or are looking to enhance their understanding of IT fundamentals i.e. These exams are really for beginners. As stated by Davin, you'd probably be
    better off looking into the MCSD: Web Applications certifications.

  • Calendar / Timezone question for anyone in Arizona

    I was just looking at my calendar for next week and noticed that all items are 1 hour earlier than they should be.  My first thought was that the timezone was set incorrectly (Arizona doesn't observe DST).  In fact when I went to Settings -> General -> Date & Time with Set Automatically On it shows me in Cupertino.  If I turn Set Automatically Off and type in Phoenix for the Timezone next weeks calendar is correct.
    Not sure what else I should do to get the phone to automatically put me in the right timezone.  I've made sure Setting Time Zone is on under location services.  Went outside to make sure I had a good GPS signal while toggling Set Automatically On and Off.
    Anyone in AZ or any other place that doesn't observe DST seeing similar issues?

    Hey Dark,
    Follow Allan's advice. You might just find an "Easy Out" that will fit perfectly. Otherwise you'll have to drill it out a bit to get a grip. There is a liquid that had carborundum grit in it that I've used with success.
    One heads up, that power button lead is really tiny and can be easily ripped out. You have to detach it before the outer case is more than 5" or so off.

  • Question for Anyone Using CS4 Production Premium with Windows 7

    I'm testing Windows 7 at home with CS3 Production Premium and have not had any issues. Of course CS4 is quite a bit different.
    Anyone using CS4 Production Premium on Windows 7 regularly? Any issues to report?
    Thanks

    Thanks for replying to my post:

    This is on Windows 7 RC 64bit."
    On our systems at work that have XP and Vista + CS4 Production Premium.  I've noticed this with preview files in particular and possibly some others, I don't remember. The "show only exact file" checkbox is greyed out. This is somewhat annoying because projects can have a huge number of preview files with long  cryptic names making it a pain to locate the correct one manually to get the ball rolling. If I don't think it'll take too long to re-render, I just select "skip preview files".
    We bought 3 licenses for Windows 7 and I'm encouraged by the performance, reliability and features on my home test system (RC 64) that has CS3 installed. Can't wait to get rid of XP and Vista.

  • Question for anyone using Modul8 2.5.8 with QuickTime 7.6?

    Like the title says, please answer only if you're using Modul8 with the new version of QuickTime. There is no place for speculation, no matter how well informed, in this thread.
    I've got a gig on Saturday night and I don't want to risk any degradation in performance necessitating an "archive and install" between now and then. On the other hand, if the improved Motion JPEG performance mentioned in the release notes is reflected in Modul8, then I'm all over it!

    There is room for speculation, since others who might read this could benefit from it.
    If you're in dire need of the system to work during your gig, and it's working now, then dont update to 7.6 until after the event this weekend. This goes for any update, and not just quicktime.
