  • Black screen on my hp monitor

On my other computer that I built myself I have much more options on amd catalyst control center. So I decided to go download the official amd drivers from amd. So I ran their installer it did warn me that my screen may flicker multiple times during the installation. So I waited for it to install 2 hours later it still didn't install and all I had was a black screen on my hp monitor and no signal on my second monitor. Assuming my computer was still on and it was a graphics error I pressed windows key and r to open the run dialog then ran shutdown -s which didnt do anything so 10 minutes later I just forced my computer to shutdown (Holding powerbutton down for 5 seconds) When I turned my computer back on I saw the hp logo then I just had a blackscreen...
After about 10 minutes of researching I found that default amd drivers weren't compatible with HP I also had no warning of this so had to boot into ubuntu live cd put the files i needed onto a usb thumbdrive and then reset my computer using f11 on boot

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • PB suddenly crashes! Black screen. Wont turn back on. Can anyone HELP ???

    Hello everyone!
My 16months old 12" PowerBook suddenly crashed last time when I was working with it. I didnt do anything particularly challenging. The PB didn't get extremely slow or anything. All of a sudden it just turned down within a second. and the display went black. By the way, it was not running on battery but over power cord.
Then right away after crashing there was this weird high-pitched sound coming from the backside of the PB. When I tried to turn it back on the sound muted, still the PB wouldn't go back on.
It felt as if it wast all the way shut down, and not really on either.
I tried the key combination shiftoption+applepower button (or whatever it was) to restart it, but it didnt work.
so I took off the power adapter cord, and took out the battery.
After putting the battery back in i was able to turn the PB back on.
All this happened 3 times now.
very weird and very frightening!! Does anyone have a clue?? Can anyone help???
    PLEEEASE!!
    thanx.

That's not much to go on, but here are a couple of guesses that may lead you in the right direction:
    1) The high pitched noise could have been a fan dying, followed by the CPU overheating and the system shutting itself off to prevent damage. If you left it sitting for a couple of hours and it rebooted okay (or started to), and then crashed again shortly thereafter then it's probably a fan.
    2) If now the system sounds and feels like it's booting up normally, but with nothing on the screen at all, the lamp (not sure what the technical term is) for the LCD could have gone bad. This happened to me a while back. If you have an external monitor available, try plugging it in and see if the machine comes up on that display.
Either way you're almost certainly going to want to take it in to be serviced. Best of luck!

  • My iphone 4 screen is black. how do i turn it back on

my iphone has a black screen what should do to fix it

Assuming it is charged, press and hold the Home and On/Off buttons simultaneously until you see the Apple logo then release.  This may take up to 10 seconds and is the equivalent of a PC re-boot.
If that does not work, follow the instructions in Frozen or unresponsive iPhone to Restore iPhone.

  • My iPhone 4S keeps losing connection and turning off, and i am unable to turn it back on again without the charger, but it turns on when i press the button and regains signal fine once i return home?

    Hi
I have recently bought a white iPhone 4S on Tuesday, and it has been repeatedly loosing all connection and just suddenly switching off.
When this happens I am unable to turn the phone back on again without a power source plugged into it. When I try to remove the phone from the power source it goes completely dead again.
However, the most recent time this has happened (today), as soon as I returned home the phone had no problem starting up as normal when I pressed the power button.
The signal was working fine even though it says 'searching' in the left hand top corner of the screen. I am wondering if my WIFI at home is influencing the phone to work inside the household?
This is a problem that needs to be sorted out ASAP because the phone is not working the majority of the time when I need it to.
Please if you have any suggestions or know the cause of this problem inform me straight away.
    Would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.

Try connecting it to your iTunes library in Recovery Mode and restoring it.  See this article for help on getting your iPod into Recovery Mode.

  • Would like to know if I can connect a macbook pro and link to a PC in any way and still access the macbook pro's files. Display is out/have black screen. I want to back up before I send for repair, but don't own another mac to restart 7.

Is there any way to connect my 2011 macbook pro to my PC laptop (Dell) so that I can get files off of the Mac? The display on the pro is out and I've got a black screen. The computer turns on. Actually it turned on one time after many tries and when I took it the Mac store the guy hit restart before I could stop him. I don't have another Mac to back up files to in restart 7 mode and I can't see my external hard drive to copy to when the computer has no display, so I am at a loss on how to get the files. I would like to get them before I send in for repairs. Any suggestions are appreciated.

The only other thing I can think of is to pull the drive out and hook it to another machine with a USB enclosure. Something like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Vantec-NexStar-2-5-Inch-External-Enclosure/dp/B002JQNXZC/r ef=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1388312417&sr=8-2&keywords=2.5+enclosure
Then you could read it like an external USB drive. It's easy to open up and get the drive out.

  • Black Screen (Unable To Take Picture)

Whenever I go to take a picture or video, all I get is a black screen.  Pictures refuse to snap, giving an "Unable To Take Picture" error and videos don't record at all.
I've tried resetting, full erase, and Web OS Doctor.

    Hello ninja and welcome to the forums;
If you've run the webOS Doctor and are still encountering a problem with the camera, I would recommend replacing your device. As you have purchased within the last 30 days, I would refer you back to your original point of sale for a new replacement instead of a reconditioned device.

  • Iphone 4 stuck on black screen, won't turn off

After starting up a game today my phone just switched to a dark blue/black screen and it refuses to do literally anything...I have tried to put it in dfu/recovery mode but nothing works. I even held down the power and home button down for like a minute and nothing changed...The screen is completely black but you can see that the phone is still on and it doesn't show anything on the screen not even the apple logo

    KingNL wrote:
A lot of times...I've tried it both connected to the pc and not connected but it doesn't matter because nothing seems to work
Very strange issue. I saw the video on youtube as you posted. Wait until the phone is out of battery. May be when the phone will finally turn off when the battery runs out, and then you can turn it back on or reboot it. I'm out of other suggestions. Or else I suggest that you deliver you phone for repair if you still got a warranty. Knock on the wood, I hope you already have a backup from it.

  • Black screen when I turn on Satellite M

When i turn on the notebook, i cant get into the system, just black screen, after i tried several times, then i can get into the windows system.
    What is the problem???
    Tanks ,buddy

    Hi
Are you able to access the BIOS?
If not then there could be a motherboard problem
Did you try to connect the Satellite notebook to the external monitor to check if something would be visible on second screen?
I think this would be helpful to get more information about possible hardware issue
If an second display would stay black too, then an graphic card issue might be possible
However, I doubt you could fix it yourself. In most cases its a job for an technician

  • My imac has a black screen after I turn it on, help!!

After the latest system update, my imac froze. I turned it off holding down the power button. Now every time I try to the system on, a black screen appears and nothing else happens. What do I do?

Looks like the same thing just happened to my wife's 20"G5 iMac. After the most recent update she said the system crashed then on startup after about a minute of the spinning wheel the screen went black ... nothing happened. So after leaving it for 20minutes I shut it down by holding down the startup button on the back ... same thing, and again a further two times. So the issue wasn't a one off.
Then as I started to surf discussions to come up with a solution it came right by itself ... I don't know what it was. Maybe it just needed more than 20 minutes to set itself up. Or maybe it just needed a few prods to get it started.
Just thought I had better try a restart again to see if the problem was actually solved ... same thing happened. Now after about ten minutes after startup it comes back on ... weird. No time for doing a whole lot more than that at the moment.

  • Windows 7 64 Bit black Screen when trying to got back to desktop

    Hello,
just bought my a new Imac and isntalled Windows 7 64 bit without any problems.
When running a game under windows and i try to go back to the desktop with ALT+TAB or the windows key the screen gets black.I can still hear the game sound but i am not able to go back to the desktop or back to the game. The only solution is to hardboot (power on/off) the whole system. It has to be something with the 4850 HD drivers i think, i tried already to update them from the ATI homepage, no changes.
Has anybody else experienced the same problem?
    Kind regards
    redsun100

I recently had a problem that was similar but with OSX 10.6. It may be a long shot, but have you considered that the BIOS in the Apple Mac may be the problem?
Windows / Mac / Linux, etc... all require a series of components to unanimously agree that everything is fine and funky. If one does not, then, dependant on the problem it can either Freeze, crash or cause instability problems. At the core of any OS is its link to the base hardware, which is to all intents and purposes the BIOS.
So coming back to the problem, when I upgraded my white Macbook (4,1 version) to 10.6, I wanted to find out if it would work with the 64bit kernel of Snow Leopard. To the best of my knowledge the machine has a 32bit EFI firmware. Initially it was all bunnies and flowers in Mac-land and everything was happy with the 64bit kernel. However, this is the 'But' that usually surfaces, this was all well and good till it went to sleep. When I tried to wake the machine, things happened but it failed to reinitialize the video hardware, so a black screen and an even more puzzled look on my face. A hard reboot would solve the problem, but repeating the sleep function and putting the machine to sleep, repeated the video initialisation problem and I was cold rebooting again. Before you all come out of the wood work and say that this machine is not authorised by Apple to run 10.6 as a 64bit version, I know and did it as a test, by hacking two files in the system - It works, just don't let it sleep on you or you'll be pulling the plug. My needs for a 64bit OS are due to Adobe Lightroom and its memory problems under 32bit, which seem to be largely neutralised with the 64bit kernel. As a small side note, my newer 13.3" MacBook is all bunnies and flowers in Mac-land, even coming out of sleep mode.
Now it suggests that in the dreaded Black Screen of Death, that seems to be popping up with an alarming regularity, may have more to do with the BIOS in machines not properly sorting the peripherals and components on the PCI and PCIe buses when something radical happens. As you know, Windows Vista did some real funky stuff when switching video modes or jumping between one full screen program and the desktop. Just remember Vista did some strange video funkiness when bringing the UAC to your attention. It reminded me of the weird stuff ATI did with their 9800XT & Pro video cards when windows first started, Black screen and then reinitialise.
In your example, I believe that Direct X 10 needs to switch from the game or application to the Desktop UI. As normal windows applications are not full screen they work within the framework of the Direct X 10 and UI, but when you deal with full screen that's a different matter.
For years we have all been 32bit and happy, but then the switch to 64 bit hit the shelves and all of a sudden things ain't so good. After all the PC BIOS scene is not exactly standard fair, and in most cases the versions that float around on the Internet are all different.
I would suggest (If you can get a copy) you try to see if you can get a 32bit version of Windows 7 and see what happens - although some of the draconian measures that Microsoft go to lock you in can be frustrating, so my apologies if this is not possible. Also have you checked that the Mac has a 64bit EFI BIOS and that it is able to support this type of OS. If it does have 64bit BIOS it is generally Apple who chained their OS by restricting certain machines with capable BIOS, not the actual Hardware that is the problem. So if you have a 64bit capable BIOS then I can only think you need to check for an update or something.
The other problem is that everything Apple, but the Mac Pro, is tightly controlled by Apple. On the Mac Pro, it is feasibly possible to change some of the components in the system, all other machines are fixed. Take for instance the Video BIOS, can you find any updates or files - unless Apple deign to release it we have to suck it. After all they are in the business of supporting their machines and OS combinations, not the other Operating systems out there.
Anyway just my ten pence worth. Hope it helps.

  • Only black screen on the external monitor with intel-virtual-output

    Hello,
I tried to install bumblebee on my Lenovo W520 with this tutorial:

I can activate my external monitor with "intel-virtual-output" and the monitor is switching on. But I can only see a black screen.
In the settings of gnome I can see my external monitor and configure it - but it shows nothing.
    Have you any ideas?
