Abap+ java stack or Abap stack

Hi All,
How to know whether a system is  ABAP+ JAVA   stack or  JAVA stack.
In our system   EP6.0  which is JAVA  stack  holds JC00 which is a  java instance direcory. In BW system we have SCS20 and Dvebg...00 directories is it ABAP+ JAVA stack  or  ABAP stack with J2ee engine services.
Please suggest me...
Thanks,
Subhash.G

In the forder structuer usr\sap\<SID> if you have DVEBMGS<XX> then it's ABAP and if it's JC<XX>, then it's JAVA. Also if under DVEBMGS<XX> you have j2ee and SDM folder then it's a dual stack that is both ABAP and JAVA.
As for the URL if it's a dual stack then using the browser use the user j2ee_admin and the specified password, else if it is only java then use administrator user and the specified password.
If it's a dual stack you can also login using sapgui.
If in case its single stack AS_ABAP
THere will one be a single node i.e. no message server and enque server. The folder stur would be /usr./sap/<SID>/ and tou would find
DVEBMG SYS folders only.
IF in case its single stack Java server then
In mmc. you will find, 2 nodes one for message server, enque server and the other for the SDM, dispatcher and server0
the foder struct would be
/usr/sap/<SID?
JC><CIno> SCS<no>
Now in case if you have double stack i.e. AS-java and AS-ABAP you would will find these things in mmc
Message server and enque server
disp+work, message server and wp
the folder struct would be
/usr/sap/<SID>/
DVEBMG<no> SCS<no>

  • Web Dispatcher configuration (ABAP+Java vs. ABAP+Portal)

We are using an internal Web Dispatcher to allow the connections from different networks.
This Webdispatcher entry we add to WAS configuration within Portal system object
By defintion of ABAP+Java double stack we do not have any problems and the test
    http://webpispatcher:port/sap/bc/ping is successful.
When we have a ABAP system + Portal (Java) we only can test the connection
    http://webpispatcher:port/
    When we execute the test
http://webpispatcher:port/sap/bc/ping we get an error, because the url goes to Java stack.
We also detected that on Web Dispatcher configuration for ABAP+Java we have ABAP and J2EE server groups and  application servers.
For ABAP+Portal we have only J2EE groups on Web Dispatcher configuration.
    Question:
Which SAP parameter (e.g. ms/server_port_0, icm/HTTP/j2ee_0) or Web Dispatcher parameter (ms/http_port) is responsible for generation of ABAP groups (e.g. PUBLIC) within Web Dispatcher?

Which SAP parameter (e.g. ms/server_port_0, icm/HTTP/j2ee_0) or Web Dispatcher parameter (ms/http_port) is responsible for generation of ABAP groups (e.g. PUBLIC) within Web Dispatcher?
In ABAP the logon group is handled by the ICF. In SICF you specify within the actual services(properties) which logon group that service should use for load balancing. As far as I remember though there is an exception if you are using an "end-to-end" ssl configuration where you can specify the destination logon group using wdisp/HTTPS/dest_logon_group parameter.
rdisp/mshost is the parameter on your web dispatcher that points to your message server to get a list of available logon groups.

  • Windows Central Instance ABAP+JAVA plus UNIX ABAP dialog instances ?

    Hi everybody,
we are an SAP software partner and provide SAP complementary software on UNIX and Windows platforms.
Part of our software (a gateway) needs to be installed on the SAP application server.
In order to setup a cross-platform test environment for our developers, I was thinking about extending the existing SAP ERP 6.0 Windows-based Central Instance (IDES, Oracle, usage types ABAP+JAVA) by multiple ABAP dialog instances which run on different UNIX flavours (Solaris, AIX, Linux).
I searched the SAP Notes and found nothing which could confirm my plans, as this is quite an unusual setup and heterogenous systems are usually the other way round (CI on UNIX, DI on Windows).
SAP Note 1067221 however mentions that DIs on different OS platforms are only partly supported, but it seems this is only valid for JAVA DIs?
As I need only ABAP DIs, I hope my plans are fine?
    Many thanks for your feedback

    > I searched the SAP Notes and found nothing which could confirm my plans, as this is quite an unusual setup and heterogenous systems are usually the other way round (CI on UNIX, DI on Windows).
Well - what is "usual" depends on the requirements
It's possible to do that. Technically there's no difference whether an application server is Unix or Windows based.
There are, however, a few things to take care of:
    - if your system is non-Unicode, sorting algorithms are different on different platforms. Unicode systems use ICU which is cross-platform
    - if you want to automatically distribute your kernel on system start you will need to create a "share" on the Windows machine and make it accessible from  the various other platforms. You can, however, ensure "manually", that you use the same kernel patchlevels on all systems, then this is not needed
    - Windows is LittleEndian whereas most Unix systems are BigEndian, depending on if you exchange data between those systems (means, binary data, files through NFS) the programs must be aware of the fact, that a file can be either LE or BE.

    Hi Sunny,
    Thanks for you comments.
What's about the conecctions between JAVA-->ABAP and with development are these assigned to my SID:NWD?
Can I install another JAVA instance and after remove JAVA from instance ABAP+JAVA?

  • New BW 7.0 System (ABAP+Java) as two single-stack Systems? How?

    Hello,
as of the current recommendation not to install a dual-stack system anymore, we are planning to setting up our new BW 7.0 sandbox-system as two single-stacks.
In my understanding, I have two install two separate systems (1. AS ABAP, 2. AS JAVA) and connect them each other. So each system should have it's own SID?
Procedure: I first have to setup the AS ABAP with SID=NWA and then afterwards setup the AS JAVA with SID=NWJ - and connect each other afterwards (e.g. RSPOR_SETUP and so on...).
Or am I allowed to use the same SID(=NWA) also for the AS JAVA (as it is in a dual-stack installation)? If so, am I allowed to use the same system (OS will be windows 2008) for them? In the Installation Guide I found for NW 7.0 EhP2, they still mention the dual-stack installation...
So, if you have a dual-stack installation, it looks like this:
Host: nw.sap.company.local / SID: NWA, Instance: 00 (AS ABAP) + NWA, Instance: 00 (AS JAVA)
How should it look now? Like this:
    1. Host: nw.sap.company.local / SID: NWA, Instance: 00 (AS ABAP) + NWJ, Instance: 00 (AS JAVA)
    2. Host: nw.sap.company.local / SID: NWA, Instance: 00 (AS ABAP) + NWJ, Instance: 01 (AS JAVA)
    3. Host: nwa.sap.company.local / SID: NWA, Instance: 00 (AS ABAP)
       + Host: nwj.sap.company.local / SID: NWJ, Instance: 00 (AS JAVA with EP_CORE, BI_JAVA, ...)
In case of option 3, do they have to use their own DBMS?
    Thanks in advance!
    BR,
    Markus

It's virtualized using XenServer, so I can decide to use a "large" system/virtual machine containing both ABAP and Java or to have two separate systems/virtual machines... I prefer the second solution (each with it's own DBMS/MSSQL2008) even if it's a "waste" of resources in comparison to a dual-stack system (2x OS/Windows, 2x DB/MSSQL-Server).
    > You could also use MCOD to use only one database instance with 2 schema but I personally don't like this solution.
    > The key to not install anymore as a dual stack system is to have independency between java ans abap.
I had a look at this also... I think there are no advantages (beside resources), because when you have to do some maintainable at the DBMS (e.g. OS updates), more than one system is affected.
    > The installation will be more complicated than a dual stack but it will be easier to manage, be more reliable, easier to patch and upgrade.
Maybe, but you need an additional (hardware-)resources - as seen above. But anyway, thanks. We will try with separate hosts.

  • ABAP+Java Kernel and only Java Kernel

    Hi Friends,
Is there any difference in ABAP+Java Kernel and only Java Kernel?
Can we use the kernel for above both from the same location as below?
    1#
    Support Packages and Patches> Additional Components> SAP Kernel> SAP KERNEL 64-BIT UNICODE> SAP KERNEL 6.40 64-BIT UNICODE
    Following Files
    DB Dependent  - ORACLE
              SAPEXEDB_175-20000227.SAR
              DBATL640O92_44-20000227.SAR
    Database Independent
              SAPEXE_175-20000226.SAR
Assuming above SAR files contain R3trans, R3load, tp ,... also.
    2#
As per my knowledge SAP has given one more path to download J2EE SP's which contains Kernel and J2EE Support Packages.
http://service.sap.com/patches --> Support Package and Patches -> Entry by Application Group -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NetWeaver 04 -> Entry by Component -> Application Server Java -> SAP J2EE Engine 6.40 -> J2EERT19_0-10001982.SAR/J2EERT20_0-10001982.SAR (OS Independent) and CTRLDB219_0-20000114.SAR(OS Dendependent)
What is the difference between above two kernels?
1# contains R3trans, R3load, tp ...etc which is exclusively used by ABAP Stack related functions. The startsap script used here would check R3trans -d authentication successful before starting database and then only it starts the database from sidadm. I observed OPS$ users available in only ABAP schema SAPSID but not available in SAPSIDDB. If I use the kernel downloaded from 1# for Java Stack only system, startsap would fail as R3trans authentication fail as there is no ABAP schema in Java systems.
This applies well for ABAP+JAVA or only ABAP based systems.
If I use only JAVA Stack based system can I use the kernel downloaded from 1# . What is the kernel and SP available in 2#? Is this also contains the same kernel given in 1# or it is different. I also observed in JAVA they are not calling Kernels by Patch No like 154, 175... they call it by SP19. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Did anyone come accross this type if issue? I would appreciate if anyone can clarify my questions given above.
My main target is to have clear strategy for ABAP+JAVA, ABAP, JAVA kernels to avoid mess up. Which one to download? What is best practice? Differences?
    Thanks and Regards
    Prasad

    Hi Sacha,
Thank a lot for your answer I am clear now. Before rewarding points to you.
    I have final question.
You mean that there is not seperate kernel for Java Stack Systems.. When we apply SP11 or SP19 by default it applies Kernel and also support packages w.r.t the SP. Do we have option to seperate Kernel and Support package while applying SP's for Java System?
If we take for example SAP NW 2004 (WAS 640) latest kernel is 175 (I mean ABAP+JAVA). If I want to know the latest kernel for Java Stack system, Do I need to say it is at level SP19 or check the sapwebdisp -V (Resepctive patch level)?
For ABAP system we check disp+work -V to get the source kernel version. How to justify the source kernel version for Java System?
As per SAP Note: 710914 - Upgrading the J2EE Engine Startup Framework after applying SP for Java System, Do we need to upgrade J2EE Startup Framework?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Prasad

  • ABAP or ABAP+JAVA in Solman Installation?

    Hi,
We are going to implement Solution Manager 7 (SR3).
    1. I would like to ask whats the best installation variant in installing solution manager? (ABAP or ABAP+ JAVA)
    2. What are the additional capabilities of SolMan if we install ABAP+JAVA and not ABAP only?
We are planning on using solution manager for:
    - Central Administration
    - Change request management
    - Root Cause Analysis
    - Delivery of SAP support service
    Thanks,
    Roel

    Dear
Solution Manager has to have ABAP+JAVA stack so your choice is easy.
Solution Manager Java Stack offers additional functionality as well as tools.
    For example Solution Manager Diagnostics.
    Kind regards

  • SAP Web AS ABAP + Java system

    Hello All,
I am looking at the installation guide of SAP XI. I did not understand one thing from that guide. it says
<b>"If you want to install the component SAP Exchange Infrastructure:Prepare the SAP Web AS ABAP + Java system for SAP Exchange Infrastructure"</b>
I would appreciate if anyone of you can clarify what is <b>SAP Web AS ABAP + Java system</b>.
What I have been thinking all these days is we could have either Java(J2EE) or ABAP Web Application Server.
I don't understand what this ABAP + Java system is ?
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Vanaja,
in the world of WAS 6.40 you can install it as three variant.
    1. ABAP standalone (with it own SID) e.g. for R/3
    2. Java stanalone (with it own SID) e.g. for EP 7.0
    3. ABAP + Java as an Add in (Java and ABAP has the same SID)
For XI you have to install a so called double stack WAS 6.40 or SAP Web AS ABAP + Java System or ABAP + Java Add in. All this describe the same variant of the installation.
Normally you will have one database where J2EE-Scheme and
the ABAP-Schema is on the same database. I would really
suggest you to read the installation master SR1 there you
will get the understanding what is the difference.

  • Differences between dual stack and single stack Java system copies

    Hi
Can any body please provide step - by -step procedure.
    Thanks in advance
Edited by: Kobby bryant on Apr 13, 2008 10:39 PM

    Hello Koby,
    Dual stack is ABAP+Java instance.
Single stack or Standalone is just Java instance. There is no ABAP part.
Using the installation wizard, you could select the desired option and the installation is performed accordingly.
If you are looking for any specific info, please provide the details.

  • How to create Roles in UME (ABAP+JAVA stack)

    Hi,
I have created roles earlier on JAVA stack alone. However, this time I am working on JAVA+ABAP stack. When I am trying to create role in UME, I am getting only two tabs:
    General Information
    Assigned Groups
I am not getting Assinged Actions tab here. How do I assing actions ?
Can any one please help me in creating roles in ABAP+JAVA stack.
That would be  a great help!
    Regards
    Faisal

    HI Faisal,
When ABAP is the UME, you can only edit users / groups that are J2EE only. Any group that is defined in ABAP is read-only for the Java Server to prevent conflicts (there is no synchronization) and has to be changed in ABAP.
Please take a look at this link, which has a great graphic describing this.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/7c/36dcd59865b246b993c471199ba37a/content.htm
So, if the Java group was created in ABAP, the ABAP user has to have the ABAP role assigned to him, so that he is in the group on the Java server. make sense? The graphic in the link above really explains it well I think.
If you a new / custom Java group (not in ABAP) then you should be able to assign users to it from the Java server.

  • System Copy from ABAP Stack to ABAP+Java Stack

    Hi,
Is it possible to system copy (homogeneous or heterogeneous) from a system based on ABAP Stack to a system based on ABAP+Java Stack? Is it the normal system copy procedure or something aditional is required to do. Pl. advise. Thanks
    regards
Edited by: Abdus Samad on Oct 24, 2008 8:13 AM

It depends on what you want to copy, a system copy will always wipe out the existing target. But if you want to only copy data, you might be able to do a client copy. You can start with this SAP note: [552711 - FAQ: Client copy|https://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=552711]

  • Whats the difference between ABAP stack, ABAP+Java stack and Java stack

    Hello,
I have a nagging doubt about the difference between the ABAP stack, ABAP+Java stack & the Java only stack. I believe that the method of applying the kernel for all the 3 types is different.
Also can we apply the ABAP support packs through JSPM.
Please put some light on this.
    Thank you

    Hi Zaheer
    ABAP Stack
AS ABAP is used to provide the ABAP foundation of SAP NetWeaver.
Part of AS ABAP is the Search Engine Service (SES), which enables users to search for
business objects using Search and Classification (TREX). SES accesses Search and
Classification (TREX) functions through the Search and Classification (TREX) ABAP
client. SES replicates the business objects from the ABAP application to Search and
Classification (TREX), so that it can apply Search and Classification (TREX) search
functions to them. When a user enters a search query, the Search and Classification
(TREX) system responds to it, not the database for the ABAP application. For more
information, see the document Installation Guide – SAP NetWeaver TREX Single Hosts /
    Multiple Host.
    Java stack
AS Java is used to provide the Java foundation of SAP NetWeaver. Among the key
    capabilities of AS Java are:
    • J2EE Engine – a J2EE 1.3-compliant application server for running enterprise
applications. In addition to the pure J2EE standard technologies, the J2EE
Engine implements complementary technologies, such as Web Dynpro or Web
Services, that are targeted at supporting large-scale, real-business application
    development projects.
    • SAP Composite Application Framework Core (CAF Core) is a service-oriented
architecture for building and deploying composite applications. It enables
modeling of different service types – entity services that represent a domain
model, application services that implement business logic, and external
services that offer connectivity to back-end services by means of remote
function calls (RFCs) or Web services. Usage type AS Java comprises the CAF
Core runtime environment, while design time tools are part of the SAP
    NetWeaver Developer Studio.
    • Web Dynpro is the user interface technology for developing professional
business applications for mobile as well as for desktop clients. Web Dynpro
applications can easily be integrated into SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Portal,
providing a unified layout for the end user as well as enhanced navigation
support. Web Dynpro also allows, for example, the development of interactive
forms using the Adobe document services.
    • Adobe document services is a set of runtime services that provide a range of
form and document creation and manipulation functions such as:
    • Converting XML form templates (created using Adobe LiveCycle Designer)
to PDF and various print formats
    • Setting Adobe Reader rights to enable users to fill in and annotate forms,
save and print them locally, and include digital signatures for authentication
using the free Adobe Reader software
Extracting data from SAP applications into Interactive Forms and transferring form data
back into SAP applications using XML
    ABAP + Java Stack
    Contains both functionalities.
    I hope this helps
    Regards
    Chen
