ABAP WD service influenced by SAP GUI back-end

I created a stand-alone ABAP WebDynpro, created an iview for this in ESS portal folder, configure this in 'Define Resources' and 'Define Services' within SAP ESS configuration. We use single sign on for ESS (i.e. not asking for id/pwd going into ESS if you're loggin on the network).
This ABAP WD becomes an option within ESS, and doesn't ask for id/pwd when executed within ESS. However, if the user id happens to have a password that is expired (i.e. password changed date pass the 90 days limit set in system aparameter 'login/password_expiration_time '), when executing this ABAP WD (within ESS), a logon window will appear with message 'The password is expired and must be changed' , and force you to change password.
It seems that ABAP WD is dictated by SAP GUI environment. As most of the ESS employees do not directly logon to SAP GUI (they don't even need to know their SAP pwd in order to access ESS), this becomes an issue for us. How can we avoid this situation ? Do we have to implement single sign-on to the SAP ABAP stack ?
Thanks for your help.

Hi ,
Can you please let us know which system parameter you have correctd to resolve this issue.
I am facing the similar kind of issue in my system.
Thanks

  • NW2004s ABAP Trial Version  - using 2 SAP-GUI'S

    hi there,
i just download the big files for nw2004s abap trial version. it includes sap gui 6.40, and i have the following problem:
we have sap r/3 4.6c now and on every client (also on mine) we have sap-gui 620 installed.
for 4.6c i still have to use sapgui 620 as i want to be on the same level then all the other users.
can i use BOTH sap-guis on ONE pc ?
    regards, Martin

I do understand, and my answer comes from my culture at my company. Sorry for that.  All of our users are on sapgui 6.20(not sure about patch level),  I always have the latest SAPgui version/patch level,  at this point 6.40 sp 22.  I have not seen a gui problem in some time with the users on 6.20, but when I did, you could usually tell that it is a gui problem by the behavior and/or ABAP short dump.
I understand your feeling about being on the same level of your users, so I won't suggest that you install the 6.40 version.  So, that said,  you will not be able to use the NW2004s system on your machine with your SAPgui 6.20 version.  And I believe that you can not have more than one instance of sapgui.  When you install sapgui 6.40 it will uninstall all previous version of the gui.

  • SAP BI back-end Vs SAP BO back-end

    Hi Friends,
Purchasing SAP software packages - bought SAP NW 2007s package (included SAP BI) and SAP BO XI suite (included Data Integrator (DI) as part of the BO XI package).
We have below scenarios and discussions around these scenarios - please advice the best practice/method:
    1. ECC - > SAP BI(back-end) for storing ECC and other legacy data->BO reporting tools like Crystal Reports, WebI, Xcelsius etc.,
    2. ECC -> BO(back-end) for storing ECC and other legacy data using DI for setting up the ETL process -> BO reporting tools like Crystal Reports, WebI, Xcelsius etc.,
    3. ECC ->use BI and BO as back-end system -> BO reporting tools like Crystal Reports, WebI, Xcelsius etc.,
Does anyone have reasoning to use both back-ends? The BI and BO packages include the back-end and I think it is up to the customer to choose either one as data warehouse system. Thinking that SAP may also have different package combinations to have either BI or BO back-end to use as data warehouse system which may reduce the license, implementation and maintenance cost.
When it comes to scenario 1 and 2 u2013 How BO ETL handles the massive data extractions, error handling, and parallel extraction and performance issues compared to SAP BI?
Please provide your thoughts in approaching the specific scenarios?  It would be great if you could also provide some web links precisely relevant to this discussion.
    Thanks,
    Sudha

    HI,
just to clarify: in the BusinesObjects Enterprise system you not storing data.
    1. ECC - > SAP BI(back-end) for storing ECC and other legacy data->BO reporting tools like Crystal Reports, WebI, Xcelsius etc.,
    >> for sure possible
    2. ECC -> BO(back-end) for storing ECC and other legacy data using DI for setting up the ETL process -> BO reporting tools like Crystal Reports, WebI, Xcelsius etc.,
    >> you would then use something that is called a Rapid Mart for example
    3. ECC ->use BI and BO as back-end system -> BO reporting tools like Crystal Reports, WebI, Xcelsius etc.
    >> yes.
Both backends have a different purpose. BusinessObjects is reporting and BW is a datawarehouse.

  • Consuming ABAP Web Service in Non SAP system

    Hi
I have created an ABAP web service form the RFC and configured it in the SOAMANAGER. I have tested it in Web Service Navigator using the URL and it is working fine.
Now I am trying to access it from the Non SAP system using Java Code. I am able to access the WSDL using the URL from the step 1 but not able to receive any output when providing inputs.
So I am not sure if I am missing any configuration on the Provider System (SAP) or on the Consumer system (Non SAP) to access the web service. As far I have not configured anything on the consumer system. Please let me know how to consume the web service in the Non SAP system.
    Thank you,
    Rohit

not necessarily an answer to your question, but i find that when creating SAP web services, before we create the code for consuming them, I always test them with the SOAPUI package. with this test suite you can import the WSDL, and run individual tests, seeing the input, output, exceptions, etc. This is a good way to check the connection, the flow and the service logic, before writing any code. This will also let you know whether it is a WS issue, or an issue with your code.
just a thought, from someone who has been there...
http://www.soapui.org is where you can find the SOAPUI. It helped me out a lot.

  • SAP E-commerce for ERP with SAP Retail back-end

    Hi,
does anyone implemeted an E-commerce solution with a SAP Retail backend system?
Our dubt is if durig order entry E-commerce application consider the  product variant grid (like in VA01) or not.
We found that this function is supported with an AFS back-end, but we would like to know if it is available also with a retail system.
Thank you very much for your help.

    Hi,
while we have quite a few implementatinos with E-Commerce and SAP Retail backend, the specific grid functionality you have seen in AFS is not supported with Retail backend. Hence, most customers enhance the standard product offering at that point, catering for e.g. drop down list boxes with style/color/size selection. In case you're only selling "normal" retail products (individual SKUs), the standard product works fine.
    Thanks

  • SAP GUI front end version

    Hi all,
We have upgraded our system to Basis 740.
When using in the past release Basis 700, we use sm04 to check the SAPGUI version.
Now, with 7.40 there's no information about SAPGUI version, have you any idea how to have this information.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Aziz.

    Hello Aziz,
this column has been removed from SM04 between SAPKB740/00 and SAPKB740/07 due to security reasons.
This column has been added again in SAPKB740/08 - so if the SAP GUI version is needed, a KB upgrade is required.
Please see SAP KBA 2004293 - "EHP7 - SM04 missing GUI-Version information" for more information.
Until SAPKB740/04 the Report RSM04000_ALV also displays the GUI version. Unfortunately this Report was deleted in SAPKB740/05.

    Laszlo

  • Transaction iView( Tcode) Error: Function call in SAP GUI with errors

    Hey Guys:
I use Transaction iView to show the ABAP application on Portal. The application works to import data from client to BW. After I fill all the information and execute the application, the system returns the error message " Function call in SAP GUI with errors".
The ABAP application works fine on SAP GUI, so it should not be the program problem.
Any Suggestion for this will be nice. Thanks for your help.

    Hey Duy:
Thanks for your response. I check the servers which i have access, and all of them cannot work correctly.
First, other iViews(Dynpro,BW Report,BSP,KM...) work fine.
Second, our backend system is a BW server.
I try to do so on our EP production and development, also connect them to our BW production and development servers. All of those are failed and have the same problem.
The t-code comes from our abap program and register on BW server, and hte program works fine when I use SE38 to execute it.
PS. The Transaction iView works fine before, but I have no idea why it just crash now.
Please let me know if you have any suggestion about this.

    Hello Kedar,
please check with SAP GUI for Java 7.20 rev 5 before submitting a bug report.
Also please verify, that cmd-< and cmd-> are not assigned as "Keyboard Shortcuts" in the "Keyboard" control panel of "System Preferences".
Bug reports can be submitted with the [SAP Message Wizard|http://service.sap.com/message], for SAP GUI for Java please use component BC-FES-JAV.

  • SAP GUI for Java 7.00 rev 4 - bug in ABAP download

When I try to download ABAP source code or when I use "Edit Locally" in SE38 (the easiest way how to write/edit programs with a comfortable editor), ABAP source is downloaded to my computer with trailing 0x00 bytes. It has small side-effect in Local Editing: new code with this block is uploaded into SAP and syntax check of such program fails.
Using 7.00 rev 3 works fine.
Has anybody idea how to eliminate this bug?
Wishlist, but to another forum: It will be really nice to assign hot-key to this menu item in SE38.
    Thank you,
      Pavel

    Hello Pavel,
thanks for bringing this to our attention.
This is a bug in SAP GUI for Java 7.00 rev 4 and we will fix this in the next revision.
Regarding the hot-key for the "Edit Locally" menu item, I suggest to give this feedback officially using <a href="http://service.sap.com/message">message wizard</a> on component BC-DWB-TOO.

  • Invoke SAP GUI from Webdynpro ABAP

    Hi All,
I am calling the webdynpro screen (using FM 'WDY_EXECUTE_IN_PLACE') from SAP GUI screen. In the webdynpro screen I have created one button upon clicking the button it should go back to the SAP screen from where I called the webdynpro screen.
Could some tell me how to do this.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Saba,
    Please check this: [this FM seem to be not supported by SAP and only release internally within SAP|Re: how to exchange data between wda program and abap program?;

  • ESS services are displayed as SAP GUI on ITS

    Hi Experts,
I am using ITS 6.2 patch 4. Single host installation. I have published all required services on ITS server. But when i am hosting menu using service PZm3 i am able to view only Menu side, not the right side service(bwsp). I am unable to choose any service and host them I shows error on browser.
It give me error as... object expected at line 501 char 54 etc..
Also when i host any service seperately on ITS i get to see only SAP GUI for them while i have already published complete service on ITS.
Can you please suggest me what could have gone wrong.
    Thanks for your time,
    regards,
    Sudhir

    Hi Sudhir,
the ..object expected at line 501.. error is because of JavaScript trying to execute some functionality and is not able to find the stuff it therefore needs. Most of the time JavaScript in ESS is held in a separate file or even in a separate services. For instance there is one called ess_global. As you are also not able to make a direct call to a service and end up seeing the SAP Gui for HTML I guess you do have problems with the publishing.
Ok here are some things you can check.
    1. As you do have a JavaScript error. Please also make
sure that you do have JavaScript enabled in your
browser. I know it sounds stupid but I have seen it
       happen.
    2. Is IACOR running correctly. Meaning is it set up
to publish into the correct directories. There are
two directories one for the services which resides in
the installation directory of the ITS. This should be
something like c:\program files\SAP\ITS... but this
really depends on how you did the installations. The
second one should be inside your Virtual HTTP servers
directory c:\inetpub\wwwroot... or wherever your HTTP
       server points to
    3. If IACOR is correctly configured have a look into
the services and templates directory. Make sure
that you can find a file <servicename>.srvc in
the services directory and a directory <servicename>
in the templates directory. If this is not the case
you have not published the Service correctly.
    4. Make shure that the user who runs the ITS service has
permissions to read the files in services and templates
       directory
    5. Go to SE80 inside the SAP System via SAPGui select the
configured IACOR publishing service in the settings
menu select the service you want to publish and try
to publish the service you want to call by itself.
Go back to your ITS installation directory and check
that the service got published correctly. If this is
the case you should be able to publish the service.
    6. If no 5 works go to Transaction SE38 and call a report
named W3_PUBLISH_SERVICES. The report allowes you to
do masspublishing. Just execute the report do not put
anything in the input filed and you do get a list of
all available services on the SAP System. Via button
workbench settings select the ITS you want to publish
to and if this is a Testinstallation I would highly
recommend to select all services (with F5) and publish
all of them. This will take a while but makes sure
that even the services you do not get called directly
       are published.
    regards Ingo

As workaround, please use the OLD  frontend editor.
