Ability to export and/or copy subtitles

It seems to be fairly easy to get subtitles INTO Encore.
However, after spending many hours carefully typing in subtitles for use in a Std. Def. video, and then wanting to reuse the same subtitles in a Widescreen video version (same timecodes, difference camera/angle)I was saddened to realize that I could not copy the "subtitle" object from one timeline to another, nor was there any way to export the typed in subtitles so I could import into the other timeline.
So my request would be to allow users to either copy subtitle "objects" from one timeline to another or allow the export of typed in subtitles so they could be re-imported into another timeline (or allow both).

I've been using Lemony to create all my subs and then import them directly into EncoreDVD. But I agree with you, it would be a nice feature request to add to the list. It shouldn't be so difficult to do. It just needs more than a couple of people to want the feature to make it worth Adobe's effort. Peace, BJ

  • Differences between Remote Client copy and Client export and Import

Dear All, I am new to SAP. Please let me know the Differences between Remote Client copy and Client export and Import. Any response is greatly appreciated. Thanks a Million

    Hello Mallikarjuna,
    Follow the below note,
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/552711
which describes the answer to question - Which is better or faster, a client transport or a remote copy?
Basically client transport would be preferred if the network connection between the source and target system is slow.

  • Exports both JPG and a copy of the NEF

I was playing with some settings and where before LR 5.6 exported only JPG files, it now exports both JPG and a copy of the NEF file. How do I just export the JPG and not both? What do I shut off?

I was doing some tests and, being lazy, rather than import a file from a flash card, I imported from a subfolder in my work folder where I keep the RAW files from a shoot named “RAW”. Usually, the files are imported into this “RAW folder from the flash cards. Apparently, if the NEF file you are importing is already in the folder you are saving to (“RAW”), LR saves to the root directory (“work” folder) which is where I normally export my edited LR files. There needs to be a dialog box come up that says your are saving to the same folder or something to that effect. Goes to show – never try to work late at night when you are tired.
Long story short, LR was NOT exporting JPG or TIFF files along with the NEF file. The NEF file was copied to the work folder on import. Goes to show – never try to work late at night when you are tired.

  • Client Copy- releases of the export and import systems have to be identical

    Hi All
I created a new client using the Remote Client Export \ import method (on the same system). The reason being is that I need a 2nd Test Client on the same system with a smaller data set for other testing purposes. As well as needing to re-import the same Testing Client after a future database restores from a different backup, and still needing the same small data set for testing after the restore whipped it out.
Now that the 2nd Clients data set has been used, I've been asked for a 3rd test client, the same as the 2nd originally was. (No problem I figured) So I created the 3rd Test Client (SCC4) and tried importing the same transport files as created the 2nd Test Client.
But I'm receiving the error message "Releases of the export and import systrems have to be identical".
I am on the same system as the originial client export was made from, so the SAP release is the same.
The only other thing I can think of is that we have imported some customizing transports from the Dev system into the original system since the export was taken.
Can anyone help? Is there anyway I can get this back?
    Ken

Solution found: Note 1291394 - ERROR : TA194 When performing multiple imports in the same client.
I've imported the note, run the report as per instructions and I can happily say the Import is now running. Although it does seem to be taking a lot longer than it did for the original import.

  • Copying Subtitle Streams?

    Hey folks,
I'm making a DVD with about 36 short videos on it. I put them all in their own tracks and subtitled them, then realized that for my purposes (i.e. using stories for a couple of different play sequences), I need to have all 36 elements in one single track with chapter breaks between. But now it looks like I can't copy and paste my subtitles from the individual tracks into the one master track. Please tell me I don't have to recreate and adjust timing for every single caption!
    I read this discussion:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1087883

Hi - welcome to the discussions.
Sadly, subtitles are still a problem. You cannot extract them as you want and simply move them around, unfortunately. This means you are left with the option of exporting the item description and trying to extract them from there using tools like subtitler.
There has been little improvement to the situation, and the only good advice is to not create extensive subs within DVDSP... use a ext editor or dedicated subtitle app instead.
    Sorry it isn't better news...
You could try building the disc and then using 'sub rip' apps to try to get the subs out - most are PC though. Have a look on version tracker as well - there may be something there to help you.

  • Exporting Master Archive Copy of Project on Mac

I know, I know. There are like 100 threads on final export and the best ways to do it for archival purposes. But honestly, I'd read one and it would say one thing and then I'd read another and it would say another. I guess that makes sense since there probably isn't the ONE best way to do anything. But coming from FCP, to export a archive copy of your final project you simply selected EXPORT>Quicktime Movie and it would do it all for you with no adjusting or tweaking of any settings necessary. It simply would save it using your sequence settings as a copy that you could use as an archive OR (and this part is important to me) you could take that file and bring it back into Compressor later if you wanted to encode this master copy into other formats (DVD, Bluray, H.264 for web, etc.) with the least amount of quality loss. Its almost as if you had exported the video directly from the original timeline. That's what I'm looking for here.
All that being said, I know there is a "Match Sequence Settings" box in Adobe Media Encoder which one would think would be similar to FCP's "EXPORT>Quicktime Movie" option but I've read in various threads not to use that and it made me nervous anyway because when you select it the "quality" slider is set to 50% and greyed out and the resulting file was going to be .mpeg which I didn't know if that was the best option or not to preserve quality. My original source footage is AVCHD so I've been going back and forth editing native and editing in ProRes 422.  Since I'm on a mac (2011 27" iMac i7 with 16gb ram, AMD 6970M card etc.), I've read of a few options:
    1) Quicktime using the Animation Codec.
    2) The mac version of the UT video setting
    3) ProRes HQ or 422 (however I've also read that this isn't the best option if you want to re-export the footage later into other formats)
Various other virtual and lossless  methods but many of which seem to be for PC users. I am a mac user.
My goal is to have a master copy that will need no more editing but one I can drop into AME or even Compressor to make future DVDs, BLURAYS, High quality H.264 files for web delivery, etc.
While I realize there isn't one answer probably, what are the advantages/disadvantages of the 3 methods above and is there a better way to export a file for archiving and possibly re-encoding later. File size doesn't really matter. Well, within reason. With FCP, an hour long sequence would usually be under 50gb if I remember right. So anywhere in that ballpark (or a bit higher even) is cool with me.
Please feel free to describe in detail the steps to making this MASTER file of the final edit.
    Thank you!

    Jim Simon wrote:
they all lose chroma detail by sub-sampling to 4:2:2.
That's only true of the UT codec if you use one of it's YUV options.  UT also offers RGB.
Plus, with most source material being recorded in YUV 4:2:2 at best, archiving to the same is not a really a major issue.
    Yes I agree Jim.
I personally have a problem/criticism with Ut RGB since it saves in the RGB colorspace. I just don't think it's a good idea with footage being YUV to be doing a rec601 or rec709 conversion when I know for a fact (as a developer) that the transform matrixes are not always correct - 1 of the 3 years of development of x264pro was getting the colorspace handling correct for every possible pixel format that Premiere/AME can process.
I do disagree with the theory that since the source is 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 that you don't need any better. If you do hard cuts and no scaling I'd agree but anything more involves manipulation of the footage as 4:4:4. So, if your long term archive format (ie Master) or short term (ie Diigital Intermediate) is ever going to be manipulated again why damage the result of any of those editing actions (cross dissolves, any Fx, or any Color Correction for that matter)?
I fully acknowlege that we're talking about a very small amount of error - and only comes into play if you're compressing the final Master as pretty much lossless but for me I want a Master to be, well, ... a Master. I (personally) define that as being a perfect reproduction of the timeline without the ability to change the editing/Fx decisions made. It's nit picky but it's what I think since storage is DIRT CHEAP. The salary burn in just reading this thread just paid for another 2Tb. We'll all save thousands of RAW camera files (6-10Mb per image) without any concern for size so why are we even flinching at the idea of another Gb here and there for a Master video file?

  • Surely Apple didn't remove the ability to export selected clips????

So I've got a project I've been working on, and at this point I only want to export a specific section on it. From what I can tell, I can no longer export that specific footage. Is this really the case, and what the heck am I supposed to do? I tried to copy to another project, but my title sequence didn't come with it.
Surely Apple didn't remove this funcionality?

You could also select the part you want, do a COPY, then open a new project, PASTE, then export.
I didn't use iMovie 5 through '06, but as I recall in v4, you never had the ability to export a selection of a project, just clips. So if the part you wanted only was part of clips (and not the whole clip(s)) then you had to COPY then paste to make it a new whole clip before you could export it.

    What do you not understand?
You can duplicate the iPhoto library (command - D ) and delete everything except the project and its photos from the copy and move that
    Or
However the calendar takes very little space - it is simpy database entries - it is the photos in the calendar that take space - and for most people you would wnat to keep those photos in your library
you can use a photo in 50 calendars and it still is only one photo in your library - as I explained calenders do not exist as such - they are simply database entries telling iPhotop how to display the calendar - they take almost no space at all

  • Itunes allows library to point to other folders and not copy files - WHY DOESN'T iPHOTO?

Hopefully Terence Devlin and other experts will see this. I really am intrigued as to iphoto behaviour and seek some clarification.
I just waded through 13 pages of an old thread that was locked where Terence kept saying iphoto was all one needed to work with one's photos and kept getting called on the fact he would not answer the question "where are my photos" (photos = files) because it was so darn dangerous for anyone to touch the actual files in the iphoto library.
I have a use case I need help on and an example of Apple's utter inconsistency here.
Inconsistency: iTunes lets me create a library all the while pointing to the original files that *I* have imported and structured in a given directory/folder stucture.  Yes it means I manually manage what is in itunes etc, but that's how I like it. The key thing is that itunes allows the choice to import (copy) files (which makes duplicate and doubles hard disk usage) or not.
iphoto does not allow that option.
I just converted to Mac from a PC and copied in over 100gb of photo files - some 16,000 photos. I import new pics to the Mac using Canon native software and store them accoring to a structure/taxonomy that *I* determine and want to control - not some software's predetermined idea of events or locations or whatever.  In itunes I can make 'music' an 'audiobook' or I can make a podcast 'music', I can edit the metadata to order things in the 'library' as *I* choose and the itunes library is coole with this without havign ANY of the soruce files in its library. Naively, I thought iphoto would follow a similar philosophy.
Use case: I discovered that iphoto has some very effective functionality for management of my uploads and sets etc in Flickr, but to do so I have to import my pics, obviously. So I did import the whole 'Pictures' folder - not for a moment considering that Apple would be dumb enough to copy every pic and make a duplicate, or that I might not get the chance to say yes or no to this in the settings, as per itunes.  Having looed for that optin and failed to find it I imported anyway to see what happened. After I realised that the Mac was heating up and files were being copied and I was going to lose another 100+gb of disk space I forced this to quit.  And thanks to others on that other thread I found the iphoto library and deleted the whole thing, getting back 100bg of drive space. All I want to do is use iphoto for the Flickr sharing/management functionality - I have no use for it otherwise.
Why would Apple think that not having to duplicate files is ok for itunes but not a viable option for iphoto? Why would I want to double the disk space used for every photo I store? At the very least iphoto needs to come with a health warning that it should only be used to import from external devices and be the sole manager of photos, unless one wants to use double the disk space.
So if I want to use the sharing (i.e. Flickr uploading and management of sets etc) capabilities, should I import all or some of my folders, do my work and then delete the library each time to reclaim the disk space?

If I import photos to iPhoto, the originals are deleted? So if I import from a card I have taken from my camera or if I connect my camera directly, the act of importing into iPhoto wipes them from my card?
Again, you need to check your facts before getting indignant. This is simply not true. It's an option you have and not one I recommend using. But it's only an option.
Storage costs money and I do not want to have two copies of every pic on my hard disk - especially given huge filesizes of RAW files today.
No one is suggesting that you have two copies. You have your iPhoto Library and then you back that up. Again, less indignnation, more careful study.
I do use other photo managers (e.g. native Canon tools) quite happily and they are far less 'exclusive' - i.e. I can use different apps with the same native file structure.
Using other photo managers makes little sense, any more than having two address books. How do you keep them in sync. Your comment about file structure is important, we'll come back to that.
If I want to go back to a Windows PC or any other machine and want to retain the "manual" file labelling and directory structure that I have implemented and been using for years, it seems that having a reference library that *I* know the taxonomy of is actually an advantage if I want to go somewhere else.
If you want to retain exactly the same filing structure you have now, then don't use any Photo Manager. Stick to the file manager. You'll be missing out on a lot of options, but hey ho, it's what you want.
That said, if you want to migrate from iPhoto to a Windows Machine then that's what File -> Export is for, and you can export from iPhoto to a folder tree matching your Events.
And this is a big one: This is true of any Photo Manger. Especially one with lossless processing - iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom et al.
Here's the principle: IT IS MY DATA AND I WILL DECIDE HOW IT IS LABELLED - WHAT THE FILENAMES ARE - AND HOW IT IS STRUCTURED INTO DIRECTORIES AND SUB-DIRECTORIES.  I WILL DECIDE WHICH APPLICATION I USE TO DO ANYTHING WITH THAT DATA AT ANY POINT IN TIME
DId you stomp your foot while writing those block capitals too?
But here's the thing: It's your data then why the heck are you dealing with Files?
This is the key difference, and frankly, unless you can geet this you're always going to have problems with Photo Mangers.
The illustration I use is as follows: In my iTunes Library I have a file called 'Let_it_Be_The_Beatles.mp3'. So what is that, exactly? It's not the song. The Beatles never wrote an mp3. They wrote a tune and lyrics. They recorded it and a copy of that recording is stored in the mp3 file. So the file is just a container for the recording. That container is designed in a specific way attuned to the characteristics and requirements of the data. Hence, mp3.
Similarly, that Jpeg is not your photo, it's a container designed to hold that kind of data. iPhoto is all about the data and not about the container. So, regardless of where you choose to store the file, iPhoto will manage the photo, edit the photo, add metadata to the Photo but never touch the file. If you choose to export - unless you specifically choose to export the original - iPhoto will export the Photo into a new container - a new file containing the photo.
See? It's about the data and the data and the file are not the same thing. Organising your photos based on the files is like organising a shoestore based on the boxes and not the shoes.
And here's the thing: anything you want to do with your Photos can be done either with or via your Photo Manager.
And again, I strongly stress, this is true of iPhoto, Aperture and Lightroom.
And please note: either with or via... Want to use a 3rd party editor, that can be done easily and so on.
Let me correct you. "If you use an APPLE Photo Manager then it's the go-to app for whatever you do with your photos.
    Doesn't matter who makes it.
Other Photo Managers may have more flexibility and enable greater user control."
Sure. iPhoto's a $15 app. Aperture is a $70 one. Adobe's Lightroom is about $150. Pay more get more options.
And remember where we came in here: You said you weren't able to choose where to store your files. You're wrong. You can. All I'm saying is that there's no point and more work to it.
For many - including me - the Apple way seems way too dictatorial -
Whoa. Apple are dictating nothing. You don't have to use iPhoto, you don't have to use a Mac. And remember:
...where we came in here: You said you weren't able t choose where to store your files. You're wrong. You can. All I'm saying is that there's no point and more work to it
Are Ford dictatorial demanding you steer the car using a wheel? Sheez.
and yes there are certainly advantages for some types of users of trusting one piece of software to do everything, however non-transparent it may be what it is doing or why, and with the dangers of trying to do ANYTHING else at all with one's photos.
And again, everything is quite transparent if you take a little while to understand it. You don't understand it because you're coming from a file management  and not a data management perspective. Also no one is suggesting using "one piece of software to do everything". iPhoto leverages the Finder for storage, QuickTime for display, uses and Open-Source database and so on, it protects your original file like a digital negative.
iPhoto may well not be the app for you. That's especially true since you don't understand it and are confusing it with a file manager. That's fine. But please, stop saying things that aren't true.

    i.e: from Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0, I did

Then on the new server Release 9.2.0.1.0, I did

I'm using Arabic Language on my both servers. NLS_LANG parameter on both the servers is AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252.
On both the servers I'm able to insert and select data in arabic.
However, after I export the data from old server to the new server, the arabic data comes in question marks.
If I create new table and insert arabic data on new server's user abc it is displaying well. Only the data which I exported and imported is not showing arabic.
On both old and new servers operating system is Windows XP.
I'm stuck with this problem. Anybody having any idea about how to solve this problem please help.
    Thank you all in advance.
    Regards

Let me be clear here. Storing Arabic data in a WE8MSWIN1252 database is not supported by Oracle and will lead to problems. You are incorrectly using the NLS_LANG to prevent proper conversion and your data appears to be okay when you use utilties like SQL*PLUS to view your data. When you write applications that don't rely on the NLS_LANG like JDBC thin driver for instance you will realize your data is in fact invalid. To learn more about the NLS_LANG you can take a look at this FAQ: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/globalization/htdocs/nls_lang%20faq.htm
To migrate your database to a proper character set you can refer to this paper:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/globalization/pdf/mwp.pdf
But please do not ask for help in supporting your current configuration in this forum.

  • Exporting and importing table using R3trans program between 2 clients

    Hi,
How to export and import a table between to clients in a same system using R3trans program?
I need to copy a table from Client 020 in a system to client 040 of the same system using R3 trans. I need to know the procedure.
    Can any one advice
    Regards,
    Suresh

This is how you do a export and import of table entries.
    Export:
Open Notepad and type the following,
    export
    client = 020
    file = 'clone.export.<sid>.<client no>.data'
    select * from <client_dependent_tablename1>
    select * from <client_dependent_tablename2>
    select * from <client_dependent_tablenamen>
    Save the file as export.ctl
    Run R3trans export.ctl
and the data of these files will be stored in a file called clone.export.<sid>.data in the directory from which you have called R3trans
    Import:
    Open Notepad,
    import
    client = 040
    file = clone.export.<sid>.<client no>.data
    buffersync = yes
    Save the file as import.ctl
    Run R3trans import.ctl
    Cheers!

  • Is there a way to select MULTIPLE tabs and then copy ALL of the the URLs and titles/or URLs+titles+HTML links? This can be done with the Multiple Tab Handler add on; However, I prefer to use a Firefox feature rather than download an add on. Thanks.

Currently, I can copy ONE tab's url and nothing else (not its name). Or I can bookmark all tabs that are open. However, I'd like to have the ability to select multiple tabs and then copy ALL of the the URLs AND their titles/or copy ALL of the URLs+titles+HTML links? This can be done with the Multiple Tab Handler add on; when I download the add on, I get a message saying that using the add on will disable Firefox's tab features. I prefer to use Firefox features rather than download and use an add on. Is there a way to do this without an add on?

    Hi LRagsdale517,
You should definitely be able to upload multiple files by Shift-clicking or Ctrl-clicking the files you want to upload. Just to make sure you don't have an old version of the service cached, please clear the browser cache and then log in to https://cloud.acrobat.com/files. After clicking the File Upload icon in the upper-right corner, you should be able so select multiple files for upload.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,

  • PSE12 Organizer - can you copy photo from one folder to another and import copy into Organizer and still have original in other folder

I have been using folders to organize all my pictures and I will copy photos from folder to folder, often having them in 2 or 3 folders based on use.  I tried to copy a photo in Organizer PSE12 from one folder to another and you can only move it, that means I can only have one copy of the photo.  That is fine if I am using tags and want to search for it, but I want to have mult copies in mult folders. Organizer will recognize that it is there but it won't import it into the new folder. Until I move it, it stays in the original folder.  I can drag it out of Organizer and drop (copy) it into a new folder fine, but it won't show in organizer in the new folder.  Is there any way to copy and have multiple copies show up in multiple folders?

    Hi,
The organizer works on the principle of not having multiple copies of the same photo.
If you have multiple copies spread in different folders, then making changes to one doesn't affect the others. The use of tags and albums are there to give different views of your photos.
You can't have multiple copies with exactly the same name even if they are in different folders. You could select a photo and duplicate it (File -> Duplicate) and then move the copy into a different folder but the name will be different.
If you want different folders for a specific reason, it is possible to use albums to collect the group of photos and then export them to a new folder outside of the organizer. You can also rename on export which is useful if you want to arrange the photos in a specific order.
    Hope that helps a bit.

  • Is there a way to export and print the browser data as a spread sheet?

I'm in the process of logging approximately 1,500 shots for a documentary (the old fashioned way - long hand: shot #, TC in, descriptions... ) and I'm wondering if there's a way to export and print the data in the browser as a spread sheet.  It seems like a pretty simple thing, but I don't see it any where. Am I missing something?

Yes, people I work with use it, assistants fill the fields out for me. As far as I know there is no "Print Browser" option. Some folks have assistants copy and paste the info into text, csv or xml files.    Since everthing has gone to meta tags, this approach is going the way of the electric spoon or feeding mayonnaise to Tuna.
