About database object

hi
is ref cursor is an object?

I certainly would not consider a ref cursor an object. Generally, an object is something that has some sort of persistence in the database (the sort of things you see in the xxx_objects views).
A ref cursor is just like a variable in a program. It exists only between the time when the program opens it (OPEN cur FOR ...) and when it is closed, either explicitly (CLOSE CUR) or by the program exiting.

  • Deploy form, question about database object or connection parameters

When form to be deployed to the dev/test/production environment, should it be compiled with that specific database connection username, password and sid? Another words, when I compile the database objects created for the compile is embedded in the .fmx file?
    thanks for help

You won't need to compile your forms if the passwords of the target schema differs. It also doesn't matter on what platform/architecture the database server runs on. However it would matter how you created your schema objects. And of course it will matter if the platform your forms run on differ. The list of "what you need to do when you don't want to compile against the target database" is a long one.
Here is a short list of don'ts
    - no +select * from [...]+ views
    - no +select * from [...]+ in forms cursors and the like
    - %TYPE is evil
    - %ROWTYPE is much more evil
Those are just a few obvious things developers can mess up. Of course we all know that this sort of things are bad programming practice but they do happen. And as said: that's just the most obvious things. I work for a vendor where only the compiled files are shipped to the customer, and the road to this goal is a hard and bumpy one. If you don't want bad surprises in production I suggest you implement a fixed build process routine and a fixed upgrade process where you can ensure that the target database where the forms run against match exactly the development database you compile your forms from a logical point of view. The far easier exit is to just compile your forms on the target platform against the target database but I understand that this is not always possible.

  • SE14 - mass check for Database objects

    Dear Gurus
We have a lot of tables, that have error/problems in check DB14->Check->Database object
How can I find all problematic tables in single report?
    Regards
    Vladimir

you can use report RUTDBCHK. It does the se14 functionality. Maybe debugg some and you will find the corresponding FM related, which would in turn return an error / information about the status

  • Find destination of database objects..

I've got all database schema in one Oracle dmp file. I know that schema from this file was stored on 2 servers, but when I import this file I have all tables, procedures and other database object in one user. Is there any possibilities to know in which server was which tables and procedures? I try to use SQLDeveloper to find on which tablespace works procedures and functions, but I can't find tablespace's path in OS :/ Or maybe better idea is to find this information not on imprted schema, but on dmp file?!
I add that this schema is too huge to search my answer step by step, because it has about 1300 tables :/
    Please help.

Please clarify your previous message and intentions.
I've got all database schema in one Oracle dmp file.Export was done in full mode, you mean?I hope yes. It's old dmp file and I've got only short description about this dmp file.

So, how was this import done? E.g. what imp command

    I use full imprt option.
Is there any possibilities to know in which

  • Few basic questions about database administration

    Hello,
I have a few basic questions about database administration.
    1. I switched one of my oracle instances to archivelog mode. I just cannot locate the archive log files on my windows system. The %ora_home%/ora92/database/archive directory is desperately empty...
2.What is the tools01.dbf datafile used for?
3.What is the undotbso1.dbf datafile used for?
    Thanks in advance,
    Julien.

    1. The archive log location needs to be specified in your init.ora file. By default, Oracle will place the archive files in either ORACLE_HOME/dbs or ORACLE_HOME/database.
    2. The tools01.dbf file belongs to the tools tablespace which should be set as the default tablespace for system. It primary purpose is to hold Oracle Forms and Reports database objects, however, it should also be used for holding other non sys database objects such as the perfstat (statspack) or other third party database schemas e.g. quests sqllab.
    3. undotbs01.dbf file belongs to the undo tablespace.

Hi, I try to run Query the Inventory Database today with no luck. From

Inventory Query, the only choice for Select Attribute is Processor. I try
to select others, such as Memory, Bios, but the OK button is grayout. I
also try to view the inventory summary for each workstation and receive

  • Move Data from Converted Database Objects Successfully Finish ?

I am using SQL Developer 3.2.20.09 try to migrate KSMMS database from SQL Server 2008 to Oracle 11g R2. After the migration process is done, the Captured Database Objects model, and Converted Database Objects model have been created in the Migration Projects Navigator panel on the left side, and the corresponding sql scripts has been generated in the project output directory. I run the sql scripts, it created all the tables, views, index and stored procedures in the oracle database, everything seems working perfectly. However when I try to Move Data (by right clicking Converted Database Objects) and try to move all the data from SQL Server to Oracle database, the Data moving process run less then 1 minute, and show me the result as Data Move successfully. I have about 1 GB data in the SQL Server database, it seems nothing has been moved into Oracle DB. Here are the detail structures of MS SQL Server Database which I am trying to migrate to Oracle:
The SQL Server Database name is KSMMS, under that database there are 9 users (azteca, cwweb, dbo, guest, plladmin, pw, pwadmin, tbills, wsdadmin). All my application objects (tables, views, indexes, procedures) are under azteca user, during the migration process, Converted Database Objects creates user azteca_KSMMS and dob_KSMMS, all my application objects have been created under azteca_KSMMS user schema. The generated .sql scripts actually can create all the objects under azteca_KSMMS schema, however when I try to Move Data, nothing has been moved into Oracle database. I opened an SR#3-6708733861 last Friday, it seems Oracle Support can't find what cause the problem during the Data Move process. Any help regarding my questions will be highly appreciated. Thanks.
    Kevin

I changed Data Move Mode to Online and run the Data Move again. Same Results: Migration action have completed successfully. However no records have been moved into Oracle tables.
I am running SQL Developer under Windows 8 Operation system. There is no Oracle client software available for Windows 8, does that cause any problems?

  • Version 2.1.0.63 - Load List of Database Objects Loads Incredibly Slow

I am using version 2.1.0.63, and when I am browsing the database objects in the connection, they load EXTREMELY slow. With the same database, using other tools, such as PLEdit, the list of objects loads in a small fraction of the time that it takes SQL Developer to load them. Why is it so much slower? Are there options that will make SQL Developer load less details about the objects or something along that line?
    Thanks,
    Kurz

I am migrating a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database to oracle 10g. I encounter this problem when I run "Load Database Capture Script Output", It is extremely slow at this step, especially on loading constraints.I am using SQL Developer 2.1.0.63. The size of Microsfot SQL Server db is 6G.

  • Some errors about spatial objects during upgrade to 9.2.0.8

    Hi all,
I installed the 9.2.0.8 patch and upgraded my 9.2.0.7 database to 9.2.0.8 and got some error messages, ORA-29832 and ORA-29844 when the scripts were updating some Spatial objects. The database seems to work properly however after the upgrade, including the Spatial operations. Do I need to worry about those messages? In some 10g upgrade documents, it said similar messages could be ignored. Did I just miss the same information somewhere in the 9.2.0.8 documentation set?
    Regards,
    Matti Siren

Try to compile the database objects with the utlrp.sql script, verify the version left by the upgrade process at the DBA_REGISTRY view.

  • Delete Database Object or database diagram

    Hello.
how could I delete a database object? I tried using right click but dont know how to delete the database object. The same problem is qhen I try to delete a database diagram, please could you help me?
    Thanks a lot!

    Emilio,
If you are talking about Offline Database Objects and want to completely remove them, you can select the appropriate node in the Navigator and then do 'File | Erase from Disk', the same is true for the Database Diagram. If you want to remove a Database Object from the Diagram, then you can invoke the context menu and again choose 'Erase from Disk' to fully erase the object, or you can choose 'Delete' to just remove the object from the Diagram bur remains in the Navigator.
    Hope that helps,

  • Invalid database objects

    Hi all,
I am suddenly getting about 700 database objects as invalid in my 10.1.0.5 database. Does anyone have a sql script to track the dependency of database objects so that I find out the culprit object causing others to become invalid?
    Thanks,

using the following will give you objects which had the first.. last ddl event and became invalid..
    select owner,
    object_name,
    object_type,
    to_char (last_ddl_time, 'DD-MM-YYYY hh:mi:ss') lastddltime
    from dba_objects do
    where status = 'INVALID'
    and exists
    (select null
    from dba_dependencies dd
    where do.owner = dd.referenced_owner
    and do.object_name = dd.referenced_name
    and do.object_type = dd.referenced_type)
    order by last_ddl_time
try to compile the first object and it must give you which error/object produced the tree effect...
    hope it helps...
