About thinkpad warranty service for help

i am a Chinese college student, i will buy a X200 thinkpad and then i will go to Canada for study,
i really want to know whether or not the X200 i bought in China will have the International warranty service in Canada,
thank you !!!!!

Firstly, don't buy X200 in China, it costs like 2 times more than what it would cost in USA. International warranty coverage depends on what model of the X200 you buy.
USA has the cheapest Thinkpad in the world, and Canada is certainly not much more expensive than USA, so get it Canada and that way you will get the best warranty coverage.

  • Unacceptable warranty service for T61 (7664)

My warranty service experience with Lenovo is by far unacceptable.  My T61's nVidia QVM 140 video card died of overheating on Oct 15.  Windows will BSOD with error code 0x116 and a message "attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed".  This has a 60-70% chance of happening since it is due to overheating.  Being an electronics engineer myself, and from the machine specs, I know this calls for a motherboard replacement.
I called Lenovo tech support and was instructed to bring it to a service provider on Oct 15 (thursday).  I won't give names, but there is only one Lenovo warranty service provider in the downtown Toronto area.  I wasn't called back until MORE than 1 week has passed by on Oct 26.  The technican can't find any problems after running PC-Doctor.  I proceeded to inform him that this only happens when you actually check the video card (i.e. hardware acceleration) and asked if he could check it with 3DMark.  He won't - saying this is not part of the Lenovo procedure.
What can I do, I thought and picked up the computer from them at noon.  Within 4 HOURS (notice 4 HOURS), the computer died 100%. I brought it right back to them and of course, now, they agree there is a problem.  The technician requested a new motherboard, a new LCD and the cable that connects the LCD to the motherboard on Tuesday.  I can't believe it when they told me today that these parts still has NOT been ordered (after 2 days!!!).
That was part 1 of the big problem!... Part 2....
I then called Lenovo support just to check if those parts are actually in stock.  First tech support was unhelpful at all.  He checked and said NONE are in stock and have no idea when they will be in stock (Keep in mind though this is a 2 year old computer). OK...... asked to speak to his manager, nope, can't do that.. manager is on the phone and will call me back.... Have been waiting for the past 6 hours now... Seems like this manager has a long phone call
Called in again to speak to another representative.  Although she refused out right to call their parts department or give me their number, she did transfer me to her manager.  This person then called the parts department and the answer is the motherboard will NOT be available until END OF NOVEMBER!!!  This means that even if this is couriered to the service dealer, they I will be out of a computer for at least 1.5Months!!
BTW... I certainly asked in this case if they could replace the computer or provide me with a loaner.... nope..... none! nada!
How can this be acceptable?  A warranty means fix or replace within a reasonable time... at this time and age, can anyone find without a computer for more than 1mth (remember, still no guarantee) be acceptable service?  I bought a Thinkpad for its build and quality (and paid a premium for it)... Both are great (the video card is nVidia's problem, one can google it and find nVidia actually lost quite a bit of money due to faulty packaging).  Service is unacceptable if you are unluckly to have anything serviced!

I proceeded to inform him that this only happens when you actually check the video card (i.e. hardware acceleration) and asked if he could check it with 3DMark.  He won't - saying this is not part of the Lenovo procedure.
You're not alone. I was servicing my laptop in "professional" service center for near a month... I know something about their procedures - they work like machines - not like normal people :/ They don't want to cooperate with user, don't want to hear about what he want to say...
I can't believe it when they told me today that these parts still has NOT been ordered (after 2 days!!!).
In my case they have been testing laptop for few days and disagreed that there is any problem ...
So, near a month of servicing computer, sending it to service two times, calling to service, explaining details... and my computer is still not repaired (audio stuttering problem -> no solution available).
I'm - like you - very disappointed with Lenovo's "service", especially that I also paid a lot of money for my 7664.
BAD BEHAVE LENOVO ! HOPE THAT YOU WILL FINALLY UNDERSTAND THAT !

  • Miss informed about U Verse Service for existing Att Wireless Customers

I signed up for new Att u verse service because off a $400 rebate. I called and established new service for U verse and Internet bundle which I was told there would be a $400 rewards VISA card. I disconnected my contracted DirecTV with a early termination fee relying on this rewards card to pay off the early termination. Now to come to find out 3 months wondering where my rewards card is that I don't qualify. Very disappointed!! I would have never agreed for this service if I was not offered a $400 rewards card. And to make matters worse the bundle that was installed isn't even what I ordered and customer service is telling me they can't change it because the service was already installed. I am livid....being a happy Att wireless customer I am now second guessing my decision to activate such service. I feel jipped and lied too!!!

Have a hunch you missed the notice from ATT, about 30 days after install, about the Reward Center to get your reward card.  Then you had to go there to redeem it and get it 3-4 weeks after that.
If you'd come here after you just got installed, we'd have told you about the Reward Center.

  • Complaint about your customer service for warranty

Hi, My case number is 8005220794. You received my laptop on 7-14 for repair under warranty. I call you guys several times. I was told that you have no repair part. After all, you told us you were going to refund. Again I had to call the customer relation specialist several times. We always had to leave messages. When he called back first time, he didn't want to work with my wife. I'm busy like you. I can't take a random call while I'm working.Second time, he asked a print of receipt, and I sent it. Last time, you called us to ask about the dealer name/phone number. And, I'm tired now. I'm not sure how long this will take more to settle this case down. Is there anytime line or something? or should I wait for months or years??

    Ian,
We have one of the best customer relation specialists on your case. As soon as he receives the information requested, he will be able to move forward to resolve this case. Please let me know if you require additional help.

  • Iphone and at&t - the truth about at&t service for the iphone

    i love my iphone.
the only problem has been using at&t in southern california. in los angeles there are major holes in the service, and multiple hour delays on delivery of voicemails and emails. so ive been on the phone with technical and customer support dealing with this for months.
Well, yesterday I was on the at&t support line for about an hour with this nice girl that gave my account a credit and finally told me what's really going on and why at&t service and coverage actually ***** so bad.
here's the scoop straight from their mouths to your eyes:
-when at&t bought cingular they ended up having too many cell towers for monopoly rules, so they had to sell a whole bunch and then lease back the service capacity that their network here needed.
-they've gotten cheap and over the past 9 months have not been leasing the entire network capacity as needed.
-this means dropped calls for you and me, network busy, call failed, no edge connection, and voicemail and email delivery hours or even days late.
-i asked if there was any remedy in the works, and she told me that they have a plan to build more towers but that it was stalled in the bureaucracy. she said the more complaints they got from customers the sooner these towers will be built.
-i asked if they were doing anything for their customers and she told me that they would let people out of their contracts early without a penalty because of these issues!
so, finally i get to the question, how's t-mobile service in southern california? los angeles?
i also want to get a discussion of service going in general. i know network issues are not apple's fault, but they affect the iphone experience and are going to affect the iphone bottom line eventually as more and more customers grow tired of at&t's business antics. apple does have a responsibility to its customers to be working with at&t to resolve service issues so that i can continue to love my iphone (i sleep with it).

    adrock00,
Have you been spying on my wife and me?? You are writing, verbatum, our experiences with the iPhone. Same thing - love the iPhone, HATE the AT&T service. It's shameful. I spend a good deal of money a month (paying for two iPhones), and I can not, I swear to you, remember the last time I had a conversation on it without the line being dropped (going through this procedure 3-4 times to complete the call) or completely mangled and incomprehensive for periods of time. Love the 'i' in the iPhone, but hate the "phone" Feel like a fool, really, and stuck. In this land of choices, and quality assurances, shouldn't one be allowed to switch service if the service you signed up for is inadequate. With these contracts, they have you by the cojones and laugh all the way to the bank. Shame.
Fully agree with you, also, that although Apple has provided an exceptional product, that I can not tell enough great things about, it should carry some of the responsibility for forcing us to use the lousy service provided by AT&T.
Just my experience. I'm also in LA, BTW.
    Cheers

  • Can I submit screen shots about mac mini unpublished for help from Bob Harris?

I am dyslexic I am telling you that as I have on previous post the reason is to 1. make it understood that terminology without explanation makes the answer almost unusable. If there is a reference that would help I would use it if given. 2. to make it clear that my questions may not indicate my true ability to deal with the problem 3. I am here because as a joint administrator I have far to little credibility because of my disability. 4. to make those that would answer understand that I appreciate help but have no time or criticism. I need help to recognize problems

Continuing where I stopped in the previous post:
If I run into a site that says it may damage my computer as a wiki in my own name just did I need to know how I manage not to bump into it again.
Most web pages or email will not damage your Mac.
But any web page, pop-up, or email that tries to scare you into clicking on their link or entering any personal information, are called "Phishing" attacks (as in Fishing").  They send out millions of these and hope to catch a few, but those few they catch can be profitable to them.
If an email, web page, pop-up you receive that you did not expect, and if it is trying to scare you into connecting with them, then it is very likely a malware ("Scare-ware") phishing attack.
Your bank, Apple, Amazon, Google, etc... is not going to do this.
I also need to know how can I know that the files in my trash are not needed for the operation of my computer or something placed there and used to control my computer.
Does anyone else use your Mac?  Other family members?
Otherwise, files in your trash should most likely be ones you placed there.
If you like to throw things into the trash because you do not understand what they are for, then it is possible for you to throw the wrong thing away.
But if you are only throwing away files and documents you know longer need, then it should not be any problem.
If you select the file in the Trash, there may be a Finder -> File -> Put Back menu item (this may depend on which version of Mac OS X you are using - I was looking at Mac OS X 10.9.2 Mavericks).
But as a general rule, if you are the only user, and you only trash things you know what they are, and you do not just decide to throw away files you find in the dark corners of Mac OS X because you do not know what they are, then emptying the trash should not be an issue.
If you are really worried, then get a new external disk as big or bigger than your boot disk, and use SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner to make a bootable clone.  Now empty the trash and see if your Mac still works.  If it does not, then boot from the clone and restored your boot disk.
This comes under the heading of experiments and having backups to protect you from failed experiments.
Since wi fi I am more worried than ever if I could take my computer in I would.
Assuming your WiFi is configured with WPA or WPA2 encryption, and your WiFi base station uses a non-trivial password, then it is unlikely anyone has gotten into your home network.
On top of that you Mac is still difficult to get into even if someone can get on your home network.  Macs are very secure.
The risk with a weak WiFi setup is that someone will use your WiFi for free, while you pay the cable bill.  If they are bandwidth hogs, they might slow down your network.
The biggest risk of a weak WiFi network is that they download illegal content and then the authorities decide to sue you as the owner of the network.
If are using WPA or WPA2 WiFi encryption and have a non-trival password, this is not an issue.  And even if your WiFi was weak, the risk to your Mac is very low.
I also do not know how much information could be gotten off our old computer even though it was I am told completely crashed.
Is the old computer just sitting in the corner?  Or did you sell it, recycle it, trade it in?
Just because a system will not boot, does not mean the disk drive cannot not be removed and accessed from another computer.
If I can access the disk in this way, I will use Disk Utility to erase the disk before allowing the disk to leave my control.
If I no longer have the ability to access the disk, I will take a power drill and drill holes in the disk making sure I have shattered the disk platters so that the likely hood that some else could read the data on the disk would be very VERY EXPENSIVE.  I do not have anything worth that kind of expense, so effectively I've destroyed the disk and its data at that point. Then I will give the disk (and computer system) to a recycler.
I know there are bugs and problems I do not wish to blame myself for but apple is not anymore forthcomming about shortcommings than microsoft, adobe,.
There is such a thing as "Too Much Information", such that a profitable company can destroy all sales and end up in bankruptcy.  Apple and Microsoft are in the business of making money.
Also revealing all your dirty laundry can invite malware authors to exploit those flaws causing problems for their customers.
Finally computers and operating systems are very complex.  Developers often times cannot think of, nor duplicate all the different ways millions of users will use the product.
It is very possible that the developers do not even know what problems you are having.  Many people complain that xyz does not work, and assume that the developers must know about this.  The reality is that developers do not spend all day monitoring the forums and blogs looking for problems.  They spend it working on the software, then going home to have lives with their families.
People that actually report to problems to the developers via problem reporting channels established by the company (depends on the company), have a better chance of having the problems they find addressed, than people that assume if they are having a problem, that the developers already know about it.
Apple has 4 channels, the first being the best:
      BugReporter
    <http://bugreporter.apple.com>
Free ADC (Apple Developer Connection) account needed for BugReporter.
Anyone can get a free account at:
    <http://developer.apple.com/programs/register/>
    Or
    Mac OS X Feedback <http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html>
    Or
Calling customer support (if not under warrenty, it will cost)
    Or
    Apple Genius bar
No one can tell me what I should look for in downloads or in finder that would be clear direct evidence that my computer is safe or in jeopardy.
At the moment, the only thing you have mentioned is the difficulty with your Desktop and iPhoto access.  On the surface these feel like ownership/permission issues.
Am I supposed to place all these questions in different communities? When push comes to shove telling people they asked there question in the wrong place makes no sense I am an apple user I need apple answers.
You will not get "Apple" answers here.  These forums are User-to-User forums.  Apple answers come from telephone support or the Apple Genius bar in various Apple stores.  And even then, they are "Just" people.  In many cases they are following a script.
As for using the correct forum.  There are thousands and thousands of posts every day in these forums.  Your fellow users are not experts in all areas, and even if they are, they generally have a day job and a family they need to pay attention to.  So if every post went into just one forum it would be overwhelming.
By having forums devoted to specific areas, those people that have a strong interest in those areas can following posts related to that area and not be overwhelmed.
But when posts for say iPhoto (as an example) show up in a forum not related to iPhoto, then the people that are interested in iPhoto and have knowledge will most likely not see the question.  The post is then left with poor answers from people trying to help, but do not have a lot of iPhoto knowledge.  In cases like being told it would be better if the question was asked in the iPhoto forum, it is being helpful, as the post is being directed to a place where there are perhaps knowledgeable people to help.  Again, iPhoto was an example topic.
If you want to address specific issues, it would be best to post the issue to a forum community that would have people knowledgable about that area.
It is best to have one problem per post, unless there might be related behavior from similar problems (Desktop access and iPhoto access sound related, so mentioning both might be useful diagnostic information).  But having a huge laundry list of issues, many not related, can also overwhelm a contributer such that the thread devolved into discussing one item, and that might not even be the most important thing to you.
And with respect to Desktop access, the Mac OS X community for the version of your Mac OS X operating system would be the best place to start.  If resolving that does not fix iPhoto, then taking the iPhoto questions to an iPhoto related community would be best.  But I think focusing on why you cannot access your Desktop would be the first thing to do, and making sure that the ownership and permissions of the files in your home directory tree are all as they should be.

  • Warranty service for K9ND Speedster

Hello Good People of the World!
I seem to have a problem and need some input if anyone can offer any.
I sold a K9ND Speedster to a man in Canada. Within a week of its arrival, he writes and says its defective. He contacted MSI Canada and they go over the issue and say it needs an RMA, to contact the seller (Me) and get an RMA and send it back. I contacted MSI and ordered another board for the customer (I aim to please). When the defective item arrived, I shipped the replacement. I shipped the replacement to MSI in California. I was contacted and was told the unit was not defective. They will be shipping it back to me. 5 days ago, the guy I sent a replacement to contacts me and said the second board is defective. I asked him what components he was using to build his system. Everything he told me should work except the power supply. It was a common 300 watt. It had a 20 pin connector. I suggested he contact a qualified tech to help him with his situation because he did not have adequate power. At this point, I figure he has no idea what he's doing. The contacted me 2 days ago and says he brought it to a "Qualified" tech. Had it tested with the now correct power supply and finds it defective.
Can anyone offer some in-site to this problem? I had already replaced a board that was not defective.
    Thanks

    It Works!!!!
    Thanks All
It seems very stable so far.

  • To whom must i complain about after sales service for my new i phone

My new i phone 5 bought in November 2013 shows patches on the screen and all functions are disabled, I was dialling when it started, first there were no response of the key board then I could not switch it off, after a while an oval green patch apeared on the screen, later it turned violet and finally a black spot took place on the RHS of the screen, I went to see the dealer (Mauritius Telecom) who told me that the screen was not covered by a warranty. I red the leaflet throughout and I could not find such clause, I told this to the dealer and he changed his version and told me that my phone has surely had an accident. It is a very stressing situation, they are claiming me Rs.10,000.- (400 $ + -) to change the screen. Can you please advise me concerning this issue?
    Jean.

No-one here can give you formal advice, only Apple can do that.  All the same, your experience does not seem to meet what I, for example, would accept.   As I understand the warranty, all parts of the iPhone are covered if the problem is a manufacturing defect.   But that is the key to the matter.   If you have dropped it or splashed it with water, such damage would not be covered.
Contact Apple support with your story.   Tell them the store name and address (I trust you bought it from an authorised seller).   Hopefully that will get the matter resolved.

  • Question about creating Web service for Xcelsius

Has anyone successfully written a Web service in .Net C# that Xcelsius can use? I was just trying to create something simple and it will not work. I get data in my Xcelsius report, but it is all lumped into one 'cell' and the XML tags are still in there. If anyone has some sample code that does work it would be much appreciated.

I may be posting this in the wrong forum, but my question is this.  Is the Services for Object button ICON supposed to change colors or something when there is an attachment?  How can you tell if there is an attachment for the object?

Thanks for the reply.  This is true, what you say.  But I was talking about the the Services for Object Icon.  I want to know if an attachment exists without having to click on on the button.  I would expect the button to change colors or something if there is an attachment.

  • If I bought Iphone in USA, can I get warranty service in UK?

Hi, I bought my Iphone 6 in USA, moved to Argentina, where I have no Apple warranty Service for IPhone. I´m traveling to UK next month. Can I get warranty service In UK for my IPhone? When I get to Genius Bar to get an appointment , I receive a sign saying to try another location. Don´t understand.

    According to Apple:
If the product is portable, meaning that it can operate independently without a power cord, you may obtain warranty service worldwide. However, service will be limited to the options available in the country where service is requested
