  • Problem about using Oracle Form 6i to connect Oracle Database 10g express.

    Sorry to interrupt all of you.
    I have encountered a problem about using Oracle Form 6i to connect Oracle Database 10g express.
    As I would like to
    I use Oracle Net8 Easy Config to create a connection.
    According to "tnsnames.ora", the paramater of connection is as follows;
    XE =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 127.0.0.1)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = XE))
    Unfortunately, when I use Oracle Net8 Easy Config to test the connection, an error message is prompted as follows:
    Connecting....
    The test did not succeed.
    ORA-03106: fatal two-task communication protocol error
    There may be an error in the fields entered
    or the server may not be ready for a connection.
    You can check the server and retry, or continue.
    After I google it, I still have no idea how to solve the problem. I would like to ask, could anyone mind providing some hints or solution to address the issues.
    Thanks for your assistance in advance.

    I don't believe the Net8 Easy Config (NEC) will create a compatible entry in the tnsnames.ora. I have Forms 6i running successfully against a 10g Express database, but I did not use the NEC - I created the entry myself. Here is the entry I use:
    XE=
      (DESCRIPTION=
        (ADDRESS=
          (PROTOCOL=TCP)
          (HOST=<<servername or IP address>>)
          (PORT=1521)
        (CONNECT_DATA=
          (SERVER=dedicated)
          (SERVICE_NAME=XE)
      )Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)

  • A question about using SQL*Plus

    script:
    spool c:/abc.bin
    select * from abc
    when I press ENTER, the result will be orderly shown on the screen.
    In fact, I want to input "spool off" to save the result into the file, but I have to wait for the screen finishing its showing.
    Which command can I use to directly save the result into the file without showing it on the screen?

    Create a .SQL script file with following:
    set termout off
    spool c:\abc.bin
    select * from abc
    spool offand then run it like this:
    SQL> @your_script.SQLNote that you can do many more formatting commands in your scripts than just shown - which you use depends upon what exactly this output is for.

  • Development integration with SQL*Forms

    Dear All:
    I do work for Intergraph and have a custommer who is asking about any development (like an OCX) for developing SQL*Forms with the help of that OCX (or whatever available tool) from the inside of our "object oriented Automation Server" called Geomedia, which is a GIS (geographic information system). The thing is that they want to use SQL*Forms from Geomedia in order to develop and customize the interface of their tabular data capture modules, keeping the aspect of their outside (standalone) system, developed with SQL*Forms. Is it possible? Is there any thing available for that?
    Thanks in advance for your help and comment,
    Gilberto Chavez.

    I think the answer to your question is going to be no, but can you explain your requirements in detail? I don't understand what you want to do.

  • Using Font form server

    Hi there, i'd like to know about using font form server, like
    fontforflash.com , i think
    they are using font from server! how to make some font its
    available to every body that visit my site ? i made some simple
    input text using Flash MX 2004, that the result appear at my
    Dynamic text, for sample at input text i'm using
    Verdana Font at dynamic text i'm using
    FFF Galaxy (from fontforflash.com), when i'm uploading to
    server, i'm also uploading
    FFF Galaxy, but the result is
    FFF Galaxy change to default font! please help me !
    Thanks!

    Flash can't really do external fonts. For your dynamic field,
    click the
    Embed button and embed the characters you need. I normally do
    upper case,
    lower case, numerals and punctuation.

  • Using a form control (textbox) as an SQL Server parameter

    Hi
    i am trying to use a form textbox control to filter an SQL query but i do not know how to do this. In fairness, im from an Access background originally and can easily do it in Access lol.
    Is it better to connect to the SQL database using code and create an SQL string to get / set data? if so? how can i do that?
    or
    do i use a table adapter which is my current method but i do not know how to integrate a text control as a query parameter.
    for reference-
    Query = SQL Server View (Same as access Database Query)
    Thanks for any help

    Hi nmjShaw,
    I wrote a sample about how to integrate a text control as query parameter in vb.net.
    Dim conn As New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection()
    conn.ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:\Database2.accdb"
    Try
    Dim sql As String = "SELECT * FROM tbl_user WHERE username = @username"
    Dim dt As New DataTable()
    Dim sqlCom As New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand(Sql, conn)
    'Open Database Connection
    sqlCom.Parameters.AddWithValue("@username", TxtControl.Text)'integrate text control as parameter here
    sqlCom.Connection = conn
    conn.Open()
    Dim da As OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter = New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter(sql, conn)
    da.Fill(dt)
    ' Then you could use the dt.
    conn.Close()
    Catch ex As Exception
    MessageBox.Show("Error:" & ex.Message)
    End Try
    If you have any other concern regarding this issue, please feel free to let me know.

  • Default form value using sql with bind variable

    I wish to create a form based upon a table with a foreign key. I wish to add a field to the form that is an uneditable text field with a default value using sql of 'select name from other_table where other_table_id = ?' where ? is a bind variable defined by a hidden field which is the value of the foreign key identified at runtime. How can this be done?
    null

    I don't think that will work. I have multiple people accessing the Portal at the same time with the same login (or lack of as public will be the most common user). I could set it easily enough as the value is passed to the form by a link object, so I could add it to the before page plsql block and set the value. But I am uncertain how it will behave in a multi-user mutlitasking environment.
    Maybe I should describe what I am looking to accomplish. I want to create a display above a form that will list static details from other tables (i.e. when editing a user's phone number, which is in one table, you want the user to see the person's name, which is in another table, and the form is based upon the phone table) ...
    Just as I am thinking about it, I thought of an idea. I could put some specific code in the before displaying page plsql section to query the database and use htp to output the information for data not in the table the form is based upon. I will try this and see how it works. It would have been nice to have just created a field that is not editable and had a default value, but this should work as well.
    Let me know if you see any problem with this or if you have any better suggestions.
    Thanks for the fast response.

  • Questions about using a PDF form online

    I have a client who wants to create an online version of a PDF form that they are currently using. I am currently trying to explain to them that this would be best done as an HTML web form, but I may not win this argument. I have only used PDFs for printed forms (either hand-written or using form fields) so I am not familiar with any problems that converting the form for use online would entail.
    When the 'Submit' button is pressed on the form, is there a way to redirect to another web page after the data is submitted? (i.e. does the PDF have access to it's outer 'environment'?)
    Are there any security issues submitting data using the PDF form as opposed to using a standard web form? (There may be sensitive data being submitted)
    I'm not sure how they plan to handle the data that is submitted, but there are several options in the submitForm parameters - I am assuming that using the HTML option would submit the data in the same format as a web form would. Am I correct here?
    Can the PDF be prevented from being downloaded or printed? This form should only be used to submit data to their server, not as a printed form.
    Are there any other 'gotchas' that I need to look out for? Does anyone have a recommendation for a site which contains any tutorials or guidelines for using PDF forms online?

    Thanks for the information.
    Yes, I agree that there is less reason for it to be a PDF form (Actually, no real reason other than the original form already exists in PDF), but I am unfortunately in the position that my input in this project is not necessarily being considered (my company is following direct -and inconsistent- directions from the client, and I have no contact with the client to ask questions about what their actual needs are). I have been told to give the client the 'Tomato' that they are asking for, even though they are describing an 'Apple'.
    The reason this form is not meant to be printed is that we have replaced the 'Signature' fields from the original form with checkboxes that the user must check to confirm they have 'signed' the document. If they are to print/fax/whatever the document, they should use the original form, not this one. And I am still trying to explain to them that this would be better served with an HTML web form, but I fear I am losing that battle.
    I have brought up the fact that it is not 100% guaranteed that Acrobat will be available in the browser, although I can only guess that it is less than likely that anyone will not have some sort of PDF viewer available to their browser.
    I will also mention that issues may arise if the file is not submitted from within the browser.

  • Using Oracle Forms Importing Data From SQL Server into Oracle Tables.

    Dear All,

  • Need help, Trouble in uploading records using sql loader in Forms 6i

    Hi,
    I am trying to develop a screen for uploading records to a table by using a ctl file, batch file and sql loader.
    Env: Forms 6i, Oracle 8
    Table to be updated is: shy_upload_table
    My TSN entry looks similar to this,
    TEST_AXA.CNB.COM =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 11.23.11.123)(PORT = 1234))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = axdabc)
    My intention is whenever i press the upload_button, I should truncate the table and upload it with the contents of the file.
    In the when-button-pressed event of the upload_button I have the following code. always I am able to truncate the table but am not able to upload it with the contents of the file. Can any of you help me fix this problem ?
    declare
         var_control varchar2(256);
         VAR_DATA VARCHAR2(256);
         VAR_OUTPUT VARCHAR2(500);
         var_filename varchar2(256);

         MESSAGE('');
    If NOT form_success Then
         MESSAGE('Upload Failed');
         MESSAGE('Upload Failed');
    else
         set_item_property('DISPLAY_PB',enabled,property_true);
    --when ever i run, i am able to see the display_pb enabled. it means form_success is true.
    end if;

    Hi Francois,
    Thanks for responding, I am not very sure of what you want me to try out.
    When I double click the batch file containing the below, the record gets inserted in the table. Only when using my form and trying to upload, it fails to insert the record.
    batch file contents...
    #sqlldr userid/password@TEST_AXA.CNB.COM control=F:\ERP\file_upload.ctl data=F:\ERP\sample.txt log=F:\ERP\x.log bad=F:\ERP\x.bad
    pause

  • Question about using constant variables in Forms

    As I am still very new to Forms, please forgive my ignorance if the answer to my question is very simple. I am trying to figure out how to use constant variables within my Forms application. For example, if I want to setup return code constants for the application (mind me, these are examples):
    RC_SUCCESS CONSTANT PLS_INTEGER := 1;
    RC_FAILURE CONSTANT PLS_INTEGER := 0;
    RC_YEAR_DATA_NOT_FOUND := 50;
    Then in a module I created, if I wanted to check the return code against one of the constants I would do:
    DECLARE
    rc PLS_INTEGER;
    BEGIN
    GET_YEAR_DATA('2000', rc);
    IF rc = RC_YEAR_DATA_NOT_FOUND THEN
    -- Do some error handling
    END IF;
    END;
    I know that you can declare constants within individual procedures or packages but I can't see to find information on how to do this globally for the application. I've read about using global variables within Forms but the CHAR data type only and the fact the value can be changed doesn't really fit for this purpose. Am I missing something? Is there a config file or something for the webserver that can be used to set these up??
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    To declare constants create a Package-Specification in a pll and deifne all your constants there, something like:
    PACKAGE PK_CONSTANTS IS
      RC_SUCCESS CONSTANT PLS_INTEGER := 1;
      RC_FAILURE CONSTANT PLS_INTEGER := 0;
      RC_YEAR_DATA_NOT_FOUND := 50;
    END;Then attach that pll to all your forms-modules, and use it like
    IF rc = PK_CONSTANTS.RC_YEAR_DATA_NOT_FOUND THEN
    END IF;A word about exceptions or errors: In my eyes its clearer (and in case of exceptions even better) to raise an exception than to hide it behind return-codes.

  • About SQL Form 3.0

    Dear all,
    I just want to ask that, in SQL Form 3.0, we can create some frames in the painter for having better displaying effect. What key combinations can we use for having those frames? For instance, what key combinations do we use for having a big rectangle?
    Thks & Rgds,

    Again use the 'End' key to create a highlight box. Move the cursor to where you want the line to finish and press 'End' again. This should give you 2 white boxes on your image painter screen. Now press 'Shift'+'F9' to create your lines.
