Access a file

Hello,
i have big problem. I want to read a file and i don't know the location.
I have a jar file and i don't know its location. In the jar file is a class which need to read a text file. The text file is in the same directory.
Maybe my configuration is:
c:\....\test.jar
c:\.....\config.txt
How can access my class the config.txt file.
I have tried the follow way:
URL fileURL=MyClass.class.getResource("config.txt");
But that do not work.
Would it be easier if the config.txt would be in the jar file.

Would it be easier if the config.txt would be in the jar file.Yes, this is the way to go. Put the resource in the directory where are .class files before 'jar-ing'.
Another solution may be:
c:\....\test.jar
c:\.....\com\foo\config.txt
if MyClass is part of the package com.foo.
