Access Restriction tab is missing on e3000 web interface

I am quite sure that this tab has been there before but now its missing - could it be because I have activated  Parent Control on Cisco Connect ?
If so - how do I 'get It back'
(I thing parent control in Cisco connect is too limited)

Yes, the Access Restrictions tab goes away when the Parental Controls section is activated. According to the faqs, a hard reset is the only way to restore it.

I just recently updated the firmware in my router from 1.0.04 to the newest 1.0.07 build 14. I felt the need to update since my router would randomly stop broadcasting a wireless signal and after a few minutes come back. but that's not the issue, since the new firmware doesn't do this(yet, *crosses fingers*).
Since the update, I've noticed one thing. The "access restriction" feature on the router isn't there anymore. Live support says they've never seen that happen before, and directed me to the HDN stuff on the LELA software(After telling me to do the standard stuff for 5 minutes). I see the feature kind of available in there in a more "user-friendly" way. I don't understand how the feature could be missing on the main GUI but available through some software. I, personally cannot warrant paying for the HDN stuff just for the access restriction tab controls that were previously free and continue to be free on other routers, and most other people probably don't as well. But I'm interested in seeing if others have noticed this as well and what the general community thought is about this.

When you reset your router to factory defaults it goes back to the old firmware 1.0.04...With the old firmware if you don't have any issues then try to upgrade your router to the latest firmware...Wait another next firmware release...
However, if you have any issues with the old firmware then you should try to upgrade your router with the TFTP Utility...
    Download TFTP Utility
    Download Firmware 3.23 MB...
Double click the tftp.exe file and click run :
For Server- Enter the IP Address of the router that you assigned.  By default, the router is 192.168.1.1...
For Password- Enter the password you assigned the router. By default, the router’s password is “admin”.
For File- Click the triple “…” button and browse for the .bin firmware file...
Click Upgrade button to start upgrading.  A progress bar should show up to show the progress.
Once the Upgrade is done press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...See if this works...

  • 120N Access Restriction tab gone

I have used it before and I am not aware of any changes (not counting kids since who knows). The tab is completely gone, not greyed out just gone. How do I get it back?
    Firmware is1.0.04
I have reset, I have powered down. Is there something else I should try?
As well now that the tab is missing does that mean what was setup on it is now null?

Try to reflash the router's firmware. You can download the firmware from linksys website. After reflashing the firmware, reset the router for 30-35 seconds,Power Cycle the router and check again.I hope this will resolve the issue.

  • E1200 v2 "access restrictions"

I had a E1200, I read the articles from the support about the routers, I think the "access Restrictions" has more flexiable to setup on for the parental control, after chated to cisco support person onlin, I was told that the E1200 v2 has this "access restrictions" function, and I wan convinced to purchase from them. I did. I got the E1200 v2 recently, however, after I installed the CD and found there is no "access restrictions" tab, instead the "access policy" is still there. by the way the firmware is 2.0.02 now.
I wonder if anybody here can help me get the "access restricions" from setup? I've chatted with cisco support person twice again, but nobody can fix the problem, one suggested to restart and reinstall the CD. I uninstalled the software, restarted the computer and resinstalled the CD. same problem, no tab of "access restrictions".
    Thanks,
    solitons

    Thank you for helping.
I chated twice with the tech support, but didn't workout, I called them this morning, they told me to get the "Access Restrictions" I should uninstall the software, reset the router, and do manually setup on line. I follwed the instruction, but still only see the "Access Policy" there, and there is no "Access Restricions" tab, if I click on the "Access Policy", the "Parental Control" is the only thing. so the tech support concluded that it is a v1 actually, even there is a label on the router says "E1200 V2". and they issued a case number for replacement.
Then I called for a replacement, but I have to waive the refund if I go for the replacement, and if I don't want to replace it, I can do the refund, but it will take long time.

  • Privileged Exec password works for telnet but not web interface on Cisco AP 1242

I recently configured a Cisco AP 1242, software version 12.4, via the web interface using the default Cisco credentials. At that time I setup an administrator account with read/write access and changed the Cisco to a read only access. Now went I attempt to login to the web interface it won't accept the administrator password. It will except the administrator password in a telnet session however. So via the telnet session I setup another user with privileged exec level access and that wont work on the web interface either. The Login box keeps coming back requesting a password. Strangely enough, I can login to the web Interface using admin username, with the Cisco password; but I can't do anything, and I also can't view everything.
    I've tried the following:
I've turned on SSH and created a certificate in the AP, but the login box continues to pop on the https://url.
I've attempted to setup a user with a non-encrypted password, but have been unsuccessful.
I've tried a different browser - login box continues to pop.
I've made sure the web interface is activated in the AP
    I've tried a differnet computer
    I've tried disabling password-encryption service
    Reset the enable password
I've successfully setup other 1240 APs but must have done something wrong on this one. Anyone know what I'm missing? Thanks.

  • E3000 Deny Access Restrictions not releasing

I've just recently purchased a Cisco E3000 router.
I've set up 3 Access Restriction - Deny policies using IP addresses.  Unless someone has a better idea I found I needed two policies to Deny from late at night (say 10.00pm) till first thing the next morning.  As this spans two days I needed a Deny policy from 10pm till midnight, and another for the next day from midnight till say 7.00am.
Now to my problem, the laptops get 'Deny'ed exactly as they should within a few minutes of the set time, problem is they do not reconnect the next morning after the Deny time has passed.
Cisco help wasn't any help, and wanted me to use Cisco Connect.  However the overly simplistic options it provides are next to useless for me.   The web option has more flexibility, if only it'd work.
Do I need to need to force an Allow to override the Deny but establishing a fifth policy just for this purpose?  Don't know if this'll work but I've got no other ideas.
    All help greatly appreciated

Anyhow, I'll answer my own question based on one nights experience.
Made the 5th (and last, don't know why all the reviews say you can have 10 policies, there are only 5) an Allow policy for the previously restricted IP addresses with the parameters of Allow everyday for 24 hours.
Last night the Deny policies as the first in the list worked correctly and the two restricted laptops had access back again at the set time.  So on a test of one night it's all working correctly.
The trick was the inclusion of a universal Allow policy as the last policy to force a release of the Deny policies.  I'll post again if it doesn't work at some point in the future.

  • WRT54G2 and WRT54G locks-up (freezes) when blocking web sites using Access Restrictions

I am convinced that a few Linksys routers such as WRT54G2 and WRT54G have a major issue when blocking web sites using Access Restrictions (Internet Access Policy). After a few hours of internet access by 15 wired users the Linksys locks-up and blocks all internet web access. The only solution is to restart the power on the router.
We are currently using a Linksys WRT54G2 v1 (firmware 1.0.04). We upgraded the WRT54G2 v1 firmware to the latest 1.0.04 version which did not resolve the issue.  NOTE: We were previosuly using a a Linksys WRT54G v1.1 (firmware 4.21.1) until the power supply blew a week after we started blocking web sites using Access Restrictions (Internet Access Policy).
Basically, we have a T1 internet connection and a hub connected to the Linksys router. We are trying to block several web sites such as facebook, myspace, etc. for 15 wired users. We do not use wireless connections.
This is the 2nd time it happened with 2 different models.
    Please help ASAP.
    Thank you,
    Lance
(Mod note: Edited post. Some parts off topic.. Thanks!)

Also,  you have already upgrade/re-flash the firmware of your Linksys Router you need to reset and reconfigure your router from scratch. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • OCA admin web interface - can't access certificate management tab

    Hi there.
This is very strange, a week a go I could issue certficate requests in the user web interface and then aprove them in the admin web interface.
Now I can issue certificate requests in the user web interface but when I try to aprove the request by accessing the certificate management tab, the web browser stays a lot of time trying to access the page and timesout with a "cannot display this page" error.
I've been looking at log files, but untill now, I couldn't find anything. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong files?
Does anyone had this problem before?
    Thanks and regards,
    Ricardo Vilhena

When you access the admin page, does it ask to select the certificate you want to use?
If don't, or you don't see this (in a windows with a list) they you may try to reset OCA, this happens when the certificate is lost or have been disabled, rejected or deleted, and as you dont have anything to use, you can't see the page.
    Hope this helps.
    Greetings.

  • Wrt610n after upd to 2.00.01 tab "Access Restrictions" was gone

Hello. I decided to update firmware on wrt610n from 2.00.00 B05 to 2.00.01. After it - tab "Access Restrictions" was gone. Can I use this function on this version? If not where I could download firmware by 2.00.00 B05 version?
    Solved!

Seems weird. I’ve checked on the release notes and FW version 2.0.01 B015 included a fixed on access restrictions. Have you tried powering off and on the router after the update? If power cycle won’t work, you would need to press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds and totally reconfigure the router’s settings. All tabs should be present after reset since it would restore all settings back to factory defaults.

  • E3000 Access restrictions question

    Hi All,
I have access restrictions set up for certain wireless devices in my home that the kids use to kick them off at 11 pm and keep them off all night. where I am running into a problem is I want to block these same devices from downloading anything without my permission  my son downloads everything he sees, Comcat has already threatened to kick us off their service if we go over 250 gb bandwidth use  in a  month again. so I want to configure something in the router that will block all downloads for specific wireless devices. with the access restrictions I have set up I used the mac address not just the ip so they have no way around it I constantly monitor what is connected. I am using the stock firmware as well
any assistance that could be offered for this issue will be greatly appreciated

Internet Access Policy – This feature allows you to set restrictions on a more specific way. You can create up to 10 access policies which restrict access according to MAC addresses, IP addresses, or ports. To know more about setting up Internet access policies,
You can block the website even through certain time. But you cannot block the download from the Internet.

  • Restriction tab missing

I don't have a restriction tab on my iphone 3GS, How do I get it back?

If you do not see it under settings - general
You can try a restore from back up
if that does not work - you may be looking at a factory restore

  • E1000 Access Restrictions Issue

I attempted to create a rule to limit access only to specific URLs during a specific time of day.  However, it seems to have blocked all of the internet for the user at that MAC address, outside of the times I had chosen.  I double-checked to make sure that the radio button next to 'Allow' was selected in the section that reads:  "Internet access during selected days and hours."  I don't know what I'm doing wrong.   How is the time of day determined by the router?  Is there a clock which needs to be set to my time zone somewhere?  If so, I've yet to find it.  Also, why is it blocking all access to the internet?  It should only be blocking 3 URLs.

The Access Restrictions feature of a Linksys router allows you to limit Internet access on your network.  You can deny certain computers’ Internet access or block certain applications and services.  This article will provide instructions on how to set up Access Restrictions by blocking certain days or hours.
Here is the link for the same: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=20b29e54474a4a17aff594cb659747ea_4041.xml&pid=80&r...
The time zone on your router should be set correctly according to the time zone in your current location.  This is to ensure that the Parental controls feature will block Internet access on the exact time you specified.  To configure the time zone on your router, access your router’s web-based setup page, then go to Basic Setup sub tab under the Setup tab.  Click the Time Zone drop-down menu and select the appropriate time zone.  Once done, click Save Settings.

  • Access restriction question

I have a WRT54G v2 wireless router/access point (Firmware Version v2.02.7) ...and I am using access restrictions with some success, but I have one question - is there any way to setup a rule (or rules) such that site blocking is time-based?
For example, the internet is up and available, except for myspace.com, which is blocked between 7pm and 5am.
I know that a time window that spans midnight requires two rules, but what I don't know is how to have a rule that is both site-based AND time-based. If I create a new rule and change its status from "allow PCs" to "deny PCs", the router's web-based GUI immediately disables the blocked protocols, blocked sites, and blocked keywords fields...and so it seems that what I am asking for is not possible...unless I am missing something.
    Any ideas? Thanks.
    cheers,
    Steve

Okay...the answer is this - NO. So what to do? Install a different firmware. I installed Tomato and it blows the doors off of the standard Linksys firmware...and the supported access restriction rules are far more powerful and intuitive.

  • WRT150N Access Restrictions Not Working

    Good day everyone.
I read posts that were similar to my problem in the forum but none of the solutions suggested solved my current quandary.
I am using a WRT150N with firmware v1.00.5. I have a Linux setup with Squid connected to the network with the gateway 192.168.23.254. The WRT150N has a gateway of 192.168.23.1. The WRT150N is also connected to an Apple Base Station which serves as the Access Point for WiFi users.
Squid limits access for IP addresses listed under the .254 gateway. But once I change my gateway to 23.1, everything is accessible. I want to block sites as well on the WRT150N. But every time I try to put a new Access Restriction, it doesn't work.
I put in the IP Addresses on which to apply this restriction:
The reason it skips addresses is because, the addresses are reserved. I click on Save Settings here and I save the settings again on the main page.
Everytime I try to test it on the given addresses, I can still access the pages. Is there something I'm missing?
Thank you in advance for your answers.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try to upgrade/ re flash the firmware on your router.
Connect computer with the Ethernet cable to the router Ethernet port.
Download the firmware from the Linksys website .
Open the setup page of the router.
Go to the Administration tab and go to the sub tab Firmware upgrade.
Browse and select the downloaded firmware and upgrade the firmware .
After upgrading the firmware reset and reconfigure the router settings manually .
And see if that helps you .
